Shark in the Water Release New Album "Every Week Is Shark Week"

Oakland, CA-based surf rock trio Shark in the Water, have released their debut full length album "Every Week Is Shark Week" and are currently streaming the album online at The album is available now for purchase on CDBaby ( with iTunes, major streaming services and other digital retailers following shortly.

Comprised of guitarist Jim Utterback, bassist Jerry Langhorst, and drummer Dale Conboy, Shark in the Water prides themselves on their unique brand of hard-hitting, gritty surf music. Heavily blurring the lines between surf and hard rock, the band describes their work as "surf music with teeth." Accentuated by Utterback’s distinctive attack on the baritone guitar, and the relentless rhythm section of Langhorst and Conboy, Shark in the Water reveals a sound they truly believe you have never heard before.

"People dig Shark in the Water, because just like the three guys in the band, the music is unpolished, raw and fun," commented Utterback. "If you like sharks, like to party and have ears, this is the band for you."

Shark in The Water will be performing on Saturday, January 16th at Winter's Tavern in Pacifica, CA.

LOVE Garners 11th GRAMMY Award Nomination for Peter Kater, nominated for Best New Age Album in the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards

One might think that having ten previous GRAMMY® Award nominations would mellow Peter Kater's excitement about the GRAMMY Awards, but to him, every album is unique, every nomination an honor. This year, his peers in The Recording Academy nominated Love for Best New Age Album for the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards, to be aired on CBS at 8 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016, live from Los Angeles, CA. Love is the artist's first solo piano album in over a decade; it was released by Mysterium Music (Hanover, PA) on May 5, 2015.

Speaking from his Santa Monica, CA home, Kater shared, "I'm so excited to be once again nominated for the prestigious and elusive Grammy Award. I really barely slept last night in anticipation of this morning's announcements. I'm very moved by the support of my peers and touched that a solo piano album so close to my heart and so essential to my creative expression has received this great honor. In this album, I feel that I was able to express what is deep within my heart where words fell short and seemed colorless in comparison. After all, what is more compelling, alluring, mysterious, powerful and transformational than LOVE?"

Kater, now an 11-time GRAMMY Award nominee and multi-platinum selling pianist and composer, has been a leading innovator of New Age and Contemporary Instrumental music for over three decades. He has performed all over the world, including the at United Nations and Carnegie Hall, has released over 60 critically-acclaimed CDs, scored the music for over 100 television and film productions as well as for eleven on and off-Broadway productions. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with many of the world's most-talented musicians, actors and directors and is a proud recipient of many awards and honors including the Environment Leadership Award from the United Nations. His full biography, music and videos are available at

Love is a collection of seven composed pieces and six improvisations that share the common theme of love and its many wonders and emotions. Captured over a period of three years, the album is romantic yet poignant, with lush graphics and liner notes bordering on poetic. Kater bares his soul, explaining the basis or inspiration for each piece, giving deeper and more personal insight into the music. Alone at the piano, he explores the many facets of love, not just the more common musical themes of romance and infatuation. He also encompasses hurt, loss and healing as well as the love of self - a much more mature approach that translates beautifully into Peter's unique and distinctive musical language.

Critics have called Love "one of his best albums ever" with Hypnagogue Reviews recently writing, "New Age piano fans need to hear this. The quality and beauty of all of Kater's work is a well-known quantity and this return to the simple beauty of solo piano will surely please his existing fans while making new ones."

The year 2015 has been a highly meaningful and memorable one for Kater. Just before releasing Love, the horrific earthquake in Nepal occurred on April 26, and Kater immediately decided that the release of Love should serve a higher purpose. With the full support of Mysterium's founder, Trisha Bowden, the label donated all proceeds from the album's first week of downloads to the American Nepal Medical Foundation's 2015 Earthquake Relief Fundraising Campaign. In May, Kater was honored with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award by the Zone Music Reporter Awards & Gala in New Orleans, and feted by friends from around the world in a touching tribute video ( In July, Kater joined Nawang Khechog (Tibetan Flute) and Michael Fitzpatrick (Cello) in creating a musical "Long Life Prayer" in honor of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's 80th birthday, produced by the Panchen Lama Tashi Lhunpo Project (

Bowden commented on the nomination this morning, saying, "It is with great honor we salute Peter Kater on his 11th GRAMMY nomination. The incredible depth of his creativity, and his devotion to meaningful and compassionate causes close to his heart, brings a beautiful energy to the new age music community and to Mysterium Music. We are truly Blessed to share his Love album with the world."

Love is Kater's fourth recording with Mysterium Music, the Hanover-PA based label founded by vocalist Trisha Bowden for the creation and networking of music for the healing arts and integrative medicine. Mysterium's music is in use for hospice care and in cancer centers, and in the treatment of PTSD and sleep disorders among many other modalities and health care areas. The label has received multiple awards in the area of healing/meditation music, now totaling four GRAMMY Award nominations with this year's nod to Love.

Mysterium's first release with Kater, Light Body, was both GRAMMY nominated and awarded Best Relaxation Meditation Album by the Zone Music Radio Awards. Light Body was followed in 2013 by Illumination, which earned Mysterium its second GRAMMY Award nomination (and Kater, his ninth.) In 2014, Kater reunited with acclaimed Native American flutist R. Carlos Nakai for Ritual, their first collaboration in over ten years, resulting in a third GRAMMY Award nomination for Mysterium, and a win for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album at the Zone Music Awards.

The GRAMMY-nominated album, Love, is for sale as physical CD or digital downloads from, and fine music stores everywhere, including but not limited to Amazon, iTunes and CD Baby.

Harry Mindgame feat Mr Mentz 'Love Life'

Music Video:

'Love Life' is a joint collaboration between DJ and Producer, Harry Mindgame and rapper Mr Mentz. This project will be part of an EP followed by an album in a quick minute.

'Love Life' weaves an addictive story of life in London. The challenges people face on the daily and of the unwaivering desire to keep your dreams alive and continue to strive and never give up, if you want to achieve success in what you want to do; something we should ALL never get tired of hearing…

Harry Mindgame is name that's synonymous in the UK Underground Hip Hop scene. DJing since the age of 15, before delving into the art of Beatmaking and promoting parties to showcase both his talent and that of his peers, for almost as long. As a youngster in the game, the Sampler and the TR808 Drum machine were the mediums he felt most at home with. He stuck with it over the years, upgrading in knowledge and equipment consistently bringing his music to the people in the best way he knew how;

On time and on point…

and this tough release called 'Love Life' is no exception to that rule…

Long time Emcee Mr Mentz's flow is a smooth symbiosis of rhythm and metaphor that is remisent of classic outfits like Camp Lo, Souls of Michief and early Outkast. Intelligent verses with that laid back swagger of Golden era mid-90s Rap, delivered with a modern, quintissentially British twist.

A prolific writer and Artist, he paints a vivid picture of the modern urban landscape. A detailed and thorough portrayal of the world he sees, through his lyrics.

Harry Mindgame and Mr Mentz have definitely done their Hip Hop homework on this one…

Sones de Mexico Ensemble Awarded a $30,000 NEA Grant

In its first 50 years, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded more than $5 billion in grants to recipients in every state and U.S. jurisdiction, the only arts funder in the nation to do so. Today, the NEA announced awards totaling more than $27.6 million in its first funding round of fiscal year 2016, including an Art Works award of $30,000 to Sones de Mexico Ensemble to help fund a multi-state Musical Geography of Mexico lecture and demonstration series.

The Art Works category supports the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing work, lifelong learning in the arts, and public engagement with the arts through 13 arts disciplines or fields.

NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, "The arts are part of our everyday lives – no matter who you are or where you live – they have the power to transform individuals, spark economic vibrancy in communities, and transcend the boundaries across diverse sectors of society. Supporting projects like the one from Sone de Mexico Ensemble offers more opportunities to engage in the arts every day."

It is expected that the program will be presented in as many as 12 different states.

James Moore And Independent Music Promotions Continue Rise As Premier Music PR Company With Commitment To Quality Artists And Guaranteed Results

"Getting quality press coverage is difficult for any indie artist trying to promote themselves in an already crowded marketplace. James Moore gets your music in front of the right people, leading to maximum exposure."
(Adam Reifsteck, Teknofonic Records)

(Vancouver, CA) – December 4, 2015
In today's music industry, style very often trumps substance. Autotuned vocals, airbrushed pictures, and soulless songs have become all too familiar. A company from Vancouver, Canada has achieved success by reversing this trend and providing increased recognition for unsigned artists whom they consider honest creators of music with depth. Independent Music Promotions is a leading music PR company that guarantees all clients a high amount of quality features in prominent publications. I.M.P was founded in 2011 by Your Band Is a Virus author James Moore, one of music PR's most innovative and followed thinkers. Moore's innovative approach to music PR has been featured in numerous major music magazines and blogs, including CDBaby, Reverbnation, and Reddit. Moore is currently Quora‘s most viewed writer on independent music.

So what is Moore doing that sets I.M.P. apart from today's crowded field of music PR companies? For one, I.M.P. only works with "music with depth" from what they consider to be genuine artists. Whereas some PR companies will work with whoever is willing to pay, I.M.P. works closely with musicians with whom Moore feels a connection. This allows Moore to follow through on his initial vision of taking "an ethical, DIY approach to music PR." Moore revels in the fact that I.M.P. is in a niche: "We don't accept American Idol pop, typical club hip-hop, radio rock, religious music, or low quality demos. Other than those, we're open to greatness within any genre."

In addition to Moore's unheralded selectivity, I.M.P. is the only "guaranteed" music PR company in the world. According to Moore, "PR means the delivery of press to every single client, every single time. This is one of the main differences between I.M.P. and most other promotion companies: We absolutely guarantee press to every single one of our artists. No exceptions. All of our clients receive exceptional results from their I.M.P campaigns. We plan to keep it that way."

Perhaps the most instrumental reason for I.M.P.'s success is the fact that Moore can relate to unsigned artists who are hungry for exposure. Moore played in bands all his life before being ripped off by a major PR firm that landed a mere three reviews following an expensive campaign. Moore realized that he "could probably do much better than that." Moore did just that, garnering seventy reviews of that same record - all on his own. His success inspired Moore to "work with underground artists and change the music PR business model."

Moore's "music with depth" movement has gained popularity among both artists and the music media, partially due to the "artist first" approach detailed in his books.

"We're getting more and more word-of-mouth, and I think it's because of the quality control. Saying "no" can be a powerful tool for a business. I operate the company essentially as a music fan. There's no industry in my eyes, just people."

Your Band Is A Virus was originally released in 2010 and again as an expanded edition in 2013. Moore is known for his critiques on industry protocol and artist attitudes, with his most successful piece being his Can We Get In Pitchfork? 6 Philosophical Reasons Indie Bands Fail article. According to Moore, I.M.P. is filling a void left by much of today's fake plastic pop: "It may not seem like it in our current blog culture, but people still want music with soul and meaning. There are still thousands of blogs and media outlets that focus on quality music content, and they share the same values as us. The key has been building a network of individuals and publications who view inspiring art as a critical part of our culture."

The company's current roster includes a wide array of artists, including Monks of Mellonwah, The Tomas Doncker Band, Arc & Stones, EndAnd, Joshua Worden, and Beijing. Each artist is the beneficiary of Moore's innovative approach to PR: "I.M.P.'s packages include all traditional marketing methods, but we also do something non-traditional. We work with an army of hundreds of freelance bloggers, journalists, and editors with whom we have forged personal relationships. This helps us get press for our clients in prominent publications every time."

Ex-Psychedelic Furs Guitarist John Ashton Returns With SATELLITE PARADISO's New Single And Video: "Angelic"

Contact: Patrick Ermlich / Effective Immediately PR
Phone: (212) 777-6727 ex. 206

"A monstrous, swaggering wall of sound." - Vive Le Rock (UK)

"Akin to his celebrated contemporaries, Johnny Marr and The Edge, John Ashton is that rare breed of guitar player whom you can identify in a single note or chord." - Tom Semioli, Huffington Post

Interstellar Sound is proud to announce the release of "Angelic," the 2nd single and video from the critically acclaimed debut album by SATELLITE PARADISO, the new all-star project from John Ashton, formerly of The Psychedelic Furs.

The album finds the iconic guitarist still pushing the sonic boundaries he forged a generation ago, with his penchant for anthemic melodies as strong as it ever was.

This is clearly demonstrated within the first few seconds of "Angelic." The song explodes in the kind of glorious, insanely catchy, sax-driven melodic rush that typifies the best of The Furs, while clearly setting its own agenda for the future. The video adds digital LSD.

See and hear for yourself on YouTube ( or on Facebook (

A little help from his friends has serendipitously shaped Ashton's crew for this voyage into an ensemble for the ages, including bassists Sara Lee (Gang of Four, B-52s) and Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz); drummer Paul Ferguson (Killing Joke); guitarist Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys, Rocket From the Tombs); Mercury Rev's Anthony Molina and Jonathan Donahue; Flo & Eddie's Mark Volman (The Turtles, Frank Zappa, T.Rex); and original Furs members Duncan Kilburn (sax) and Roger Morris (guitar, keys) - just to name a few.

"Angelic" features Sara Lee (bass); current Furs members Mars Williams (sax), Amanda Kramer (piano, keys) and Paul Garisto (drums); and new-found powerhouse Fred Schreck (The Ancients, Crush) on lead vocals and lyrics.

Schreck and drummer/pianist Frank Coleman (Bentmen/Secret Agent), who made the video, form the core of the live band and are among a number of "new faces" on the album (many with long careers) whose profiles have been elevated through Ashton's discovery.

The Psychedelic Furs first assaulted the American rock 'n' roll consciousness with Top 40 smash, "Love My Way," followed by "Heaven," "The Ghost in You," "Pretty In Pink," (which gave the John Hughes film its name) and "Heartbreak Beat."

SATELLITE PARADISO gives Ashton a new platform, liberating him to go where no six-string gunslinger has gone before. The group has amassed a grassroots following of die-hard fans, after a successful PledgeMusic campaign to launch the album. A second album and live performances in the US and Europe are being planned.

The album is available now on iTunes: ( and Amazon (

"John Ashton unveils SATELLITE PARADISO, a long-gestating all-star project that explores cosmological questions uniting science, nature, and temporality with a totalizing virtuosity. Distortion becomes a palpable electromagnetic field as Ashton embarks on a Dante-esque sonic journey through a rhythmic wormhole in space-time that leads somewhere between 1984 and a timeless utopian future." - Aidan Levy, THE VILLAGE VOICE

"With its virtuoso riffs, sonic swirls, sassy sax, melancholic cello and powerful vocals, SATELLITE PARADISO is music of the highest calibre." - Manchester Review (UK)

"From power pop to rock 'n' roll aggression, this is a project just itching for airplay." - Vive Le Rock (UK)

New Drumming Invention by Benson Music

Kickstarter Link:

Pro and semi-pro musicians play a variety of gigs from house parties and bars to medium size clubs. Most venues do not have a carpet for the drum set. To solve the problem of Bass Drum Creep drummers must always carry a carpet on which to set the bass drum. Drum rugs, which tried to solve this problem, are expensive and, like a carpet, a hassle to haul around. After dealing with this for many years, and having a tough time fitting a carpet and his drum kit in his tiny Honda Civic, Gary Benson invented The Strap. The Strap cures the problem of bass drum creep with one simple, non-invasive and compact solution. The Strap keeps the bass drum in place by securely attaching to the bass drum via the foot pedal clamp and hooking to center post of the drum throne. You become the anchor for your bass drum.

Gary say's "I can't count how many times I've showed up at a club or bar with cement or tile floors. With The Strap I never have to be concerned. I can play on any surface with no worries about bass drum creep. I have been using The Strap for over 2 years and have found it a necessity. Never again will my lead singer have to hold my bass drum with his foot."

At the heart of the patent is the steel plate design, adjustable length and universal fit which sets it apart from other attempts at similar solutions. The Strap easily and securely attaches to the bottom of any foot pedal thus ensuring it is never forgotten.

Please visit us at for an overview of The Strap and "real use" videos. ®US In addition to The Strap Gary has also invented Hi-Hat restraint and several other drum accessories which will be released in 2016.

'Run' was inspired from true traumatic events that took place in his dear auntie Teresa's shoes. While battling cancer and life threatening surgery, she had found out that her husband of 25 years had been having an affair.

Fortunately, Teresa survived. But upon her return home from months in the hospital, she had to face the fear of being alone, heart wrenching memories, anger, frustration, sadness, and so many questions as to why this was happening (the chorus ends with "I worried when things turned grey, that you'd run").

Originally hailing from B.C. Canada, Connor has been enthusiastically writing music from the age of 13. His style combines elements of catchy pop songs to rocking alt rock tunes.

"His voice is a time-traveled blend of 80s, 90s and now; nuanced, different, but still heart-throbby and marketable" – Sean Daly, Tampa Bay Times

Connor Vance will independently his debut EP in the Spring of 2016.

Amy Kress Releases Single And Music Video Through Secret House Show Experience

After her celebrated debut album release of "Secret Music" in January of 2015, Amy Kress has returned almost a year later with new music and is now releasing "Iceland". This is her long-awaited single and music video from her sophomore album titled, "Fly" – a project whose creation served as a form of therapy and healing for Kress during cancer treatment.

The video was shot under a full moon on a warm summer night this past August where Kress invited friends and fans to her home for a "Secret House Show." Guests were led into Amy's backyard, illuminated by over 6,000 lights and were invited to relax in one of over a dozen couches moved in for the occasion.

Kress credits a friend as inspiration for the song, "When my friend booked a trip to Iceland in January for her and her boyfriend, I couldn't imagine what she was thinking but then she explained she just wanted to be curled up warm in his arms while a cold dark winter raged on outside. The reasoning behind that trip seemed so deeply romantic and Iceland was an easy song to write from there."
