The Catholic Girls Ask You To Kiss Me One More Time

On April 6, the all-female rock group, The Catholic Girls, who have performed nearly continuously from the 80s through the present, have just released a new CD, "Kiss Me One More Time". The CD contains 8 brand new tracks that range from solid rockers like "Shame On You" to the power pop tune, Where'sThe Logic" the band's tribute in memoriam to Leonard Nimoy and his portrayal of Mr. Spock on Star Trek. The CD also features the hardcore blues-styled "Kiss Me One More Time", and the riveting ballad, "Don't Go Away". A definite highlight is the song, "Breaking All The Rules", which serves as an anthem for all female bands everywhere and throughout the ages. There is also The Catholic Girls' ode to New Jersey (where the band is located), dedicated to The Jersey Shore specifically – Attention Chris Christie; "Down at The Shore" should be THE New Jersey Theme Song. The last 3 tracks include a heart-rending new version of "God Made You" (the ‘epic' song that was banned by The Archdiocese of Rhode Island in the 80s) from their first release, along with two bonus live tracks. "Young Boys" and "Boys Can Cry".

The Catholic Girls were born when schoolgirls Gail Petersen and Roxy Andersen put their guitars together to form the first East Coast all-female band that would be signed to a major label. With Doreen Holmes on drums, The Catholic Gils released an album on MCA both in the USA and Australia. Since then they have been putting out new work on CDs such as "Meet The Catholic Girls" and "Exposed", and touring to glowing reviews. John Pfieffer of The Aquarian Weekly has said of their music that it is "a roughly tumbled gem that showcases a group that has done things their own way, made many successful trips to the altar…and when it comes to their approach to writing recording and releasing – it's quirky jangle-laden pop rock music without pomp and circumstance." Jim Testa of Jersey Beat said, "Petersen still has that distinctive plaintive yearning in her vocals, more womanly than girlish now but nonetheless affecting, Andersen's new-wavy guitar still shimmers and glows, the harmonies still send a shiver down your spine, and the songwriting still communicates female longing, dreams and heartbreak" You can expect the new CD Kiss Me One More Time to have the same effect and more.

The Catholic Girls will be touring in the New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania area to support this new CD and additionally, a special acoustic show as an opening band for Melanie of "Candles In The Wind" fame. They will also be appearing on many radio stations such as WFMU, WTSR, WMFO. WFDU, Home Grown Radio, Cyberstorm, IndieScene Radio and on Little Steven's Underground Garage with Genya Ravan with interviews, playing cuts from the CD, and telling stories about the songs themselves and what it is (and was) like to be a working all-female rock band.

Young Long Island Rock Bands Help Revitalize A Dying Scene

On May 3rd, 2015, the alternative/post-hardcore/pop/punk rock band Approaching Troy will be joined with musical performances by several Long Island rock bands to celebrate the release of AT's new EP, "Dear Sadie" at Evolution Sound Stage, 80D Dale Street, West Babylon, NY 11704 at 6:00pm. Tickets are $15 each, All ages. See for directions.

The music scene of Long Island has always had a long, rich musical history with many famous indie bands leaving their mark in the hearts and souls of American rock fans. The faint echoes of that revolution (predecessors Taking Back Sunday, Glassjaw, Dream Theater, Bayside and Brand New) can barely be heard these days around the suburban towns they were born in. However, if the reaction from their loyal fans at live shows and the excitement over their soon-to-be released EP, "Dear Sadie" (a testament to the band's potential as an Alternative/Pop/Punk/Post-Hardcore Rock leader) is any indication of a revitalization of that scene, then Approaching Troy is about to be on the cusp of a new revolution; ready to make their individual mark on the Island's rich history beginning with their release party on May 3rd. Fans won't want to miss this special night and concert as Approaching Troy is joined along with a host of young, up-n-coming, talented Long Island bands for a night not soon to be forgotten.

Currently planning a second northeast mini-tour like their successful one this past January which included shows in Providence, RI, Bedford, PA, West Haven, CT, Ithaca and Buffalo, NY and Boston, MA, Approaching Troy looks to capitalize on their local Long Island success and spread their music to other U.S. regions hungry for their Long Island melodic sound that features catchy, Pop hooks over simmering guitar riffs and a rebellious punk sensibility. For more info, follow them on Facebook & Twitter @ApproachingTroy or check out their website, and sample some of their music at Contact Management for more info and booking inquiries, email:

All the information I needed to learn back then is now all in one place -- ArtistMax. From the creative side, to the business side and everything in-between."

The ArtistMax weekend session will explore the keys to becoming a successful artist, including tips from behind-the-scenes expert coaches to stars like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Katharine McPhee, John Legend and many others. Sessions will explore topics including vocals, songwriting, publishing, production and production tools and arrangement. Individual breakout sessions will offer a more in-depth approach with each instructor which focus on the attendee’s needs. One-on-one programs will also offer vocal lessons, personalized image consulting, songwriting assistance, publishing essentials and arrangement assistance.

A special preview event of this June session, "An Afternoon of Artist Development," was recently held during the NAMM Show at the Hilton Anaheim. The event included appearances and panel discussions by a number of noted artists and producers, including GRAMMY®--winning artists and songwriters Colbie Caillat ("Bubbly," "Try," "Brighter than the Sun,") and Toby Gad (BeyoncĂ©, "If I Were a Boy," John Legend, "All of Me").

Following a successful beta period, IQzic, innovators committed to connecting the music world, have opened their Phase I music discovery platform to the general public. Phase I of the IQzic platform not only allows members to competitively discover music videos across 40 genres, but also recognizes those members who best predict music trends. The result yields well curated playlists and an organic community of influencers.

"In beta we found music fans using the platform in fun and unexpected ways. We saw a healthy balance between discoveries for communal benefit versus private exploration, affirming that motivations for finding new music differs." said Jim Hodson, Founder and FanZero of IQzic. "Knowing one's Music IQ is being calculated daily, motivates fans to scan tunes quickly using custom IQzic filters and player tools to identify emerging music worthy of attaching their name to. --It's a win-win for everyone."

Phase II of IQzic will introduce additional incentives while also allowing listeners to financially support artists early in the creation process. The novel concept of coupling artist and fan success cultivates a music ecosystem wherein relationships actually matter. "When creating IQzic, we wanted anyone who enjoys music to be able to share in its success and have something to show for it." said Hodson.

IQzic is free. The general public can view the leaderboards or sign in to get behind the next great tune emerging at IQzic plans to release Phase II later this year.

About IQ Holdings LLC dba IQzic: IQzic was founded in 2014 with a mission to enable more artists to create great music with those who believe in them most. The idea was born during a pool party thrown for a local independent singer, when founder Jim Hodson overheard to several sophisticated investors bragging about their stock market winners, but had no convenient way to show who got in first. The conversation later transitioned to music with the same result. With previous experience in markets and decision theory, IQzic was created with the belief that the fan-artist connection has mutual value that transcends a monetary transaction, and can be structured to greater benefit the artist and the fan.

The band has an impressive resume, having shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Joe Diffie and The Charlie Daniels Band to name a few.

Lindsay Bruce - Born and raised in Northern California, Bruce is the voice of California Country - a blend of her West Coast upbringing and traditional country values, amplified by her last three years in Nashville. Rob Staley - Staley is a young country music artist living in Los Angeles with a genuine love and respect for "real country music."
