Croatian hip hop artists Connect headline Europe's Biggest Water Balloon Fight

Croatia has long since established itself as one of THE global music festival destinations; with its hot climate, affordable drinks and beautiful unspoiled coastlines.

But Water Balloon Challenge is a more than a festival, it is Europe's Biggest Water Balloon Fight. On the 4th June thousands of water balloons will be hurled between participants in the name of fun.

Whether one's balloon throwing style is underarm, overarm, quick fire or a well-practised 'money shot', participants in Europe's Biggest Water Balloon Fight are guaranteed to get wet, but with the average June weather in Zagreb hitting highs of 75 degrees, a good soaking will be part of the experience.

Entertainment over the weekend of 4th and 5th June comes courtesy of Croatian hip hop superstars Connect, Bob Marley and Beach Boys tribute acts, DJs and late night parties. In addition there will be plenty of food stalls, bars and restaurants to sample.

The balloon fight is free to enter and there will also be a Beer Pong tournament, for those who still have some competitive spirit left.

The event takes place on the man-made leisure beach at Ljubeka, Zagreb. Full line up, travel and accommodation info can be found on the website: http://www.wbc.hr

Those Damn Eyes To Release Debut Single and Video "Mysterious Mixture"

Possibly one of the most anticipated releases of this year is the debut single and video by Texas rock band Those Damn Eyes entitled "Mysterious Mixture." Founded in Austin, Texas Those Damn Eyes exudes powerful, sexy aggression through its sonic display of heavy-pop-rock. Led by front woman Alyssa Ehrhard and guitarist Daniel Corder, the two have created a strong collection of material that is bursting with high-range, beautifully sung melodies and finely-crafted musical arrangements that stimulate and embolden listeners to just... give in.

"The concept behind 'Mysterious Mixture' explores the sentiment of a past relationship. I wanted to express the frustration, confusion, agony, and ecstasy in a beautiful way. Lyrically, I talk about this kind of emotional struggle. The video is an expression of acceptance and healing, showing that despite everything we still have the ability to smile and dance spontaneously. We still have the ability to be happy, no matter what might come our way. It's about my own journey of struggle and healing. Daniel is the 'good man' that found me as a diamond in the rough. I want to send a message to people who can relate to such struggle and healing; I want each of them to understand they're not alone."

Those Damn Eyes' debut single release, "Mysterious Mixture" was written by vocalist Alyssa Ehrhard and guitarist Daniel Corder. Lyrical and melodic work took place shortly after the pair met in July of 2014, while music was written in the fall of 2013 and recorded in January '14 . The band has had the fortunate opportunity to create its recordings with producer and bassist, Matt Noveskey. Their sessions take place at Orb Studios, a masterfully-built studio in West-Austin. Noveskey's experienced ear and knowledge of exceptional tone has been essential in forging the band's sonic identity.

Alyssa excels as an artist; in addition to her vocal talents, she is an exceptionally talented painter and uses her skilled-hand in creating band artwork. Daniel is a devoted composer and multi-instrumentalist who hones his skill through eclectic musical taste and collaborations in differing genres. Jake Rabin, drummer, has an admirable amount of talent and experience through his involvement in various bands in the Austin and Dallas music scenes. Marc Martell, guitarist, has developed a great finesse with lead guitar-work and shares a different project with Jake. Don Denham, bassist, works as a music teacher and bassist for-hire and devotes time to his own passion-project.

Gathering Time Sweeps March Folk Radio Chart

Gathering Time, a Long Island, New York-based folk-rock harmony trio, had both the #1 album (Keepsake) and the most-played song ("Who Knows Where the Time Goes") on folk radio in March, according to charts compiled from radio playlists submitted to the Folk DJ Listserv (FOLKDJ-L), an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in acoustic-based music on the radio. Gathering Time also had six of the 25 most-played songs, which made them the most-played artist on the chart. More than 140 DJs from throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia submitted playlists in March. The trio plans to use its Folk-radio success as a springboard to an Americana radio release in late May.

Each song on Keepsake, Gathering Time's fourth full-length CD (officially released on March 1), documents a common experience by focusing in on something tangible that represents a memory. Band member Hillary Foxsong, who conceptualized the album and curated its production, explained the idea behind it: "A Silver Star, a mom's guitar, a battle scar, a lover's letter from long ago. All are physical things imbued with greater meaning by the memories attached and the significance of what they symbolize. Each is a Keepsake."

The collection contains 14 songs, including nine by the trio's members (Foxsong, Stuart Markus and Gerry McKeveny), one song each by Long Island songwriter Martha Trachtenberg and Catskills-based songwriter Stuart Kabak, two covers of 1970s classics (including "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" by the late English folk-rock singer-songwriter Sandy Denny), and an interpretation of a traditional Irish/Welsh folk ballad. Keepsake builds on the strength of the trio's previous release, When One Door Closes…, which was #3 on the international Folk-DJ chart for January 2014.

Blending many streams of folk-rock and Americana, the CD entwines multiple folk music traditions, including Irish and Appalachian folk, British-style blues, roots country, 1960s folk-rock and modern singer-songwriter. A hallmark of Keepsake is the three-part harmony for which Gathering Time has made its name on the northeast folk circuit and beyond.

The trio has drawn the attention of folk fans with a sound reminiscent of musical luminaries of the 1960s such as The Byrds, Peter, Paul & Mary, Joni Mitchell, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. However, Gathering Time's head-turning harmonies and instrumental acumen broaden its appeal to a wider audience that includes many who never considered themselves fans of folk music.

More information may be found online at www.gathering-time.com, while videos -- including one of a recent concert performance in Glen Cove -- may be viewed on the trio's website and at www.youtube.com/gatheringtimetrio.

Comments from Folk DJs:

"Keepsake, the new project from Gathering Time, is often philosophical, some-times sentimental, but ALWAYS wrapped in their magical harmonies! The new CD is certain to incite a goose bumps attack!"
- Joltin' Joe Pszonek, Radio Nowhere on WMSC (Montclair, NJ)

"With three strong songwriters whose voices blend beautifully, the future of the folk trio is in good hands. Gathering Time has really come into its own with Keepsake."
- Graham Dean, WBCR (Great Barrington, MA) and WRPI (Troy, NY)

"Tight harmonies, interesting arrangements…Energizing live performers, to boot! Gathering Time is on the rise."
- Wanda Fischer, WAMC Hudson Valley Radio (Schenectady, NY)

NYC-Based Producer & Songwriter Ayhan Sahin Releases Fourth Single 'Love Everybody' from Award-Winning Album 'Pop'

To acknowledge National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Turkey - an annual celebration that takes place each April 23 - Young Pals Music has released the new single "Love Everybody." This marks the fourth release from the upcoming album "Pop," the first full-length namesake collection from Turkish-born, New York City-based songwriter & producer Ayhan Sahin.

The album "Pop" features 12+ diverse vocalists & musicians across a myriad of styles, including R&B & soul, dance, jazz, country and of course... pop. All songs are co-written and co-produced by Sahin with hit songwriter Bernadette O'Reilly, who has also worked for three decades in artist relations, management and song placement. She delivers the lead vocal for "Love Everybody," with an upbeat rap from King James.

"This is a joyous pure pop anthem that unites all colors, all religions and all cultures in a world that remains too divided and saddled with discrimination." Sahin says. "My partner Bernadette and I wanted to celebrate all the good things in life... our friends, family, pets and beloved places... for 4 fun-filled minutes."

The production for "Love Everybody" revolves around a children's choir that delivers the message of "L.O.V.E." in each chorus: "Well you can love many people, doesn't really matter how many people you love/Cause you can love everybody, every single body/Cause every single body needs love." The track is an ideal accompaniment for elementary school instruction as well as a call for unity in what is a contentious election year in the United States. And adding to its delicious pure pop template, it's no secret that the madcap song also draws inspiration from "Does Your Mother Know" by Swedish supergroup ABBA.

"Love Everybody" follows three previous singles from "Pop": First, in December, was "New Year's Eve At Home," celebrating the joy of cozying up with loved ones, with full-on country flavor, courtesy of vocalist Christi Bauerlee. In February, rowdy break-up song "Since You've Been Gone" was issued, sung by award-winning rock singer/songwriter and film/Broadway actor David Keeley. And in March came "Drink," about celebrating with a glass raised to the joys of life, love, family and all good things. Lead vocals for "Drink" are from veteran New York City-based singer & musician Denny Blake, whose credits include the Broadway musical "Movin' Out." All songs are available for purchase on iTunes.

The album "Pop" is the first namesake project for award-winning Turkish-born songwriter & producer Sahin. In April, he was awarded The Akademia Music Award as well as The Global Music Awards for Best Rock Song for "Pop" single "Drink." Another single from "Pop" — "Since You've Been Gone" sung by David Keeley was awarded for Best Rock Ballad by The Akademia. Meanwhile, he has achieved notoriety in a range of musical genres, from pop, rock and dance to musical theater, while working with Olivia Newton-John, Mexican superstar & Broadway actress Bianca MarroquĂn, Melba Moore, Phoebe Snow, Turkish superstars Sezen Aksu and Sertab Erener, Sandra Bernhard and five "American Idol" finalists. He has appeared on Univision, while his music has been featured on CNN, The Los Angeles Times, Playbill, MTV, Yahoo! Music and "The Wendy Williams Show"; and heralded by USA Today, New York magazine, MTV and The New York Daily News.

In 2007, Sahin founded independent label Young Pals Music, through which he has released a dozen albums in less than a decade, including projects for Universal Records' Karine Hannah, Chilean-American singer/songwriter Promis, MTV "Making the Band" finalist Adam Shenk, acclaimed Georgian singer/songwriter Tinatin, and Sony Turkey singer/songwriter/guitarist Emre Yilmaz.

All instrumentation for "Pop" was recorded live with renowned New York musicians, including Gene Blank on guitars, synth & keyboards from Rob Preuss, Mike Sorrentino on drums, and bassist Carras Paton. It was mastered at the legendary Sterling Sound.
