Christopher Getman Designs A "Marshmallow Dream" For Catman Cohen

Returning for his third time to create visuals for The Catman Chronicles, designer Christopher Getman aka Mazedude made the following comments concerning shadow musician Catman Cohen's soon-to-be-released CD......HOW I WANT TO DREAM: the Catman Chronicles 3

"I set about to create a 'marshmallow dream,'" Getman stated. "It is a world of shadows and disillusion, ultimately transformed by angels who sail upon clouds of social action, to protect the weak, inspire the hopeless, break down all barriers, and save the world through love, kisses, and the resurrection of our inner child."

"I take my inspiration from Catman Cohen himself, who is an unusual, enigmatic musician," Getman said. "I see him as a kindred spirit because he likes breaking the rules and stepping outside the box. That allows me to explore visuals that transcend the typical cheesecake 'Hey-Mom-I'm-Famous!' CD."

"It's not too difficult to come up with powerful visuals," Getman declared. "Catman's poetry opens the doors to areas of the mind otherwise left untouched."

HOW I WANT TO DREAM: the Catman Chronicles 3...a musical quest for Truth in a world of broken dreams...will be released on March 13, 2009.

"Holy poop, B-52's reincarnated. Nevermind that they're still around. This thing I'm used to hear in early 90's to some intro to some crazy tv-show. How do you start making this kind of music? Seriously! Funk, boogie, soul, electro, space-thingy." Danger! Danger!

"New Yorkers looking for music that embraces their city's cultural diversity ought to check them out. The best way to survive in a melting pot is to get close." Gasper Oliviera, GBH.tv

Koko Dozo is a duo of legally alienated New Yorkers -- Polarity/1 and Amy Douglas -- who create a sound they call Global Funktronica: a unique blend of electronica, funk, club grooves, jazz and roots grooves from Brazil, Latin America and Africa. Their lyrics are hilarious, provocative, and powerful, sung in English, Spanish and Portuguese, supported by music that is truly otherworldly, rich, textural and extremely funky.

New Music By Songwriter Grace LaJoy Calls For Forgiveness To Change The World

Can you forgive that trusted person in your life who betrayed your confidence? Forgiveness is never easy but it's something we all know is the right thing to do.

Author, speaker, songwriter and spoken word artist Dr. Grace LaJoy brings this timely subject to light through original songs and spoken word on her new CD "Songs By Grace LaJoy." The project was inspired by LaJoy's acclaimed spoken word piece "I Forgive You," which has been endorsed by leading motivational speaker Les Brown.

"'I Forgive You' just resonated with my spirit," said Brown.

The featured vocalist on "Songs by Grace LaJoy" is international gospel artist Zenobia Smith. She has shared the stage with Mahalia Jackson, Shirley Caesar, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Edwin Hawkins, Clifton Davis, Bobby Jones and minister Daryl Coley.

"I couldn't imagine releasing a gospel CD without adding 'I Forgive You,' which relates a powerful message in these times," said LaJoy, whose books are published under the name Grace LaJoy Henderson. "But I think all the songs on the project will empower people to develop a closer walk with God and to live at a higher level."

LaJoy said the standout track on the CD is "We Welcome You To Come." The song, which is about accepting God's love and forgiveness, has already been attracting the attention of pastors. Many have requested to perform it in their church services.

Pam Bryant, co-pastor of Jesus is the Answer Church in Kansas City, is a believer in the song and its power to make a positive impact.

"'We Welcome You to Come' will bless churches all over the world," said Bryant. "I will definitely be using this as a ministering tool in my congregation."

Other tracks on the CD include: "Higher Than This Place," "Don't You Know," "He'll Give You An Answer," "I'm Ready," "In The Bible," "God Knows Me," "How Do I Let Go" and "I Forgive You."

Along with her music and spoken word, LaJoy has authored 11 books, including "Sexual Purity and The Young Woman," "Writer's Breakthrough: Steps To Copyright and Publish Your Own Book, and "More Than Mere Words: Poetry That Ministers."

The CD is available at gracelajoy.com, iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby.

Introducing: Complete Control Management

Two former management companies, The Ascot Club and Viceroy Media, have joined forces to start the management company, Complete Control Management.

Headed up by co-presidents Josh Neuman and Michael Cohen, the new company is based in Dumbo, Brooklyn, NYC and will manage the careers of established artists and producers including Tiësto, American Hi-Fi, Cary Brothers, Misstress Barbara, DJ Dan, Stacy Jones, Bill Lefler, WAX LTD (Xandy Barry and Wally Gagel), and Greg Collins, as well as new artists, The Downtown Fiction, Working For a Nuclear Free City, Shuttle and Classixx.

Formerly co-founder and partner of CRUSH Management where he signed Fall Out Boy and American Hi-Fi, Josh Neuman said of the new venture: "It's an extremely exciting time to be an artist manager and I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with such amazing people. In combining our skill sets and resources, I believe that we are going to be able to offer a very compelling model for artists to have long-term success in their careers. We have focused on bringing a team together who all have deep knowledge and experience in online and mobile marketing, as well as traditional artist development skills. Both companies have led the way with innovations in their respective genres: The Ascot Club being a co-founding partner and running the Hotel Cafe Tour, and Viceroy Media, with it's groundbreaking Tiësto/Armani Exchange partnership last year which included tour sponsorship, a clothing line and product endorsement. Combining forces was the logical next move for both."

Michael Cohen said of the announcement: "I couldn't be happier in welcoming The Ascot Club into the fold, and look forward to working closely with them and their artists as we explore exciting new ways to deliver their great music to their fans."

Complete Control will assume worldwide management duties for Dutch global superstar DJ and producer, Tiësto, as well as working closely with his former management company, Prime Time management and its existing staff, who will continue working on the artists day-to-day business.

Cohen and Neuman say of the Dutch team: "Having worked with our Dutch management team for the past two years, it was a no-brainer to combine forces with them into our global activities on behalf of Tiësto. They have done an unbelievable job up to this point in developing Tiësto's career from the clubs of the world to arenas, stadiums and festivals. As we all embark on the next thrilling phase of Tiësto's career together, we will be working closely with them to ensure we build the strongest infrastructure possible to support this business."

Wilfried Dam, Tiësto's business manager says of the working relationship with Prime Time: "I am very happy that we will be working in close co-operation with the team at Complete Control. We very much look forward to working together in the future."

Tijs Verwest, aka Tiësto, says of the merger: "The past year or so has probably been the most exciting of my career to date. Headlining festivals such as Bonnaroo and Coachella, and performing live with artists such as Tegan & Sara was a true highlight. I am happy to have such a great team beside me and am looking forward to presenting my new album to my fans around the world later this year. There will be some pretty big surprises."

Also joining the Complete Control team are Inge Colsen, who spent the past 8 years at NY PR and marketing agency Girlie Action. Inge will be heading up the companies online marketing efforts. Heaven MacPherson, previously with Red Bull Records, will be based in LA and oversee the companies producer roster and Stephen Mead, who joins from the UK online direct to consumer company Trinity Street, will oversee all online commerce activities, merchandise and ticketing.

"Matt Brouwer plans to perform several selections from his limited release album. He will be joined by several of our other highly acclaimed acts that perform in a variety of musical styles. She was also a 2007 Independent Music World Series Northeast Semi-finalist.In December of 2008.

Independent Music Retailing With Tryxo

The modern era music entrepreneur will most certainly have a great deal to contend with as they attempt to monetize their business efforts in the age of web 2.0. There are more resources available via online platforms than any other time in the history of the music business, and knowing where to invest your time and resources is becoming as essential as knowing how to get the right sound out of the board. The ability to connect with potential fans, consumers and business contacts from various countries via the net combined with the breaks that usually favor the efficient, and the courage to stand firmly behind your product will, undoubtedly, be considered the new "a,b,c's" of success in the music biz.

PMP Worldwide took the opportunity to talk to Natalie Vandersluis, the CEO of Tryxo Entertainment L.L.C.(USA) and Tryxo Entertainment GmbH (Germany) that intends to bring the worldwide music landscape into reach for those entrepreneurs savvy enough to navigate the online wilderness in the "age of independence" through its online music store http://www.tryxo.com.

What is the story behind Tryxo?

We have worked in the entertainment industry for several years, doing events in Germany and the USA, working with independent record labels and doing business management for independent artists. Since we started working in this industry, it has been our intention to bridge the gap between continents for independent music. When we worked with artists from the U.S., we were confident that many of them would sell really well in Europe and Asia and vice versa. Yet we felt there wasn't a single established webstore which would provide independent artists everything that we envisioned. So we decided to create Tryxo.

What are some of the ways that tryxo.com will benefit independent music companies, bands and individual artists?

The major benefit is that we pay the artists 75% per song sold from the first song on. It is our philosophy that it costs money, takes time and inspiration as well as talent to make music. The independent artists should have an outlet to sell their work. We will continuously strive to find ways for the artists to earn more money while we improve the site features and services.

We will start with Tryxo standard functionalities like current click and sales statistics per song. The sales statistics allow the artists to see how much money they have earned or to use it for contract negotiations. The clicks vs. sales statistics can also give the artists a quality control of their own music and indicate trends.

To ensure a streamlined process of signing up - no matter where the artists are from - and to still guarantee legal protection for the artists works, we have created an online Licensing Contract-signing procedure.

Last but not least, we have international presence from the beginning. Unlike other companies that start in one country or continent we already have presence on two continents and intend to utilize this to the fullest.

Is there a pricing system that tryxo.com mandates or is that left up to the individual user to determine?

Currently the price is fixed at US$0.59 of which the artists will receive 75% per song sold. We considered leaving the pricing up to the artists, but decided that we wanted to start with a very competitive price, that will allow us to still pay out the artists a decent amount per song sold. This also makes it easier for the buyers to understand how much they have to pay for a song - which ensures that there will not be any confusion on that end.

Can you go into how your Quality Control system works in regards to music that will be made available for sale to the public?

One person will check the song to verify that the MP3 has at least 128kb, then 3 people will listen to the song and rate it based on Quality, Ability to sell and Uniqueness and assign 1 point per approved criteria. The song needs to score a minimum 7 points out of the 9 possible to be Pre-Approved and to enable the artist to then sign the non-exclusive Licensing Contract online.

The main focus is to have the best independent artists around the world sell their music on Tryxo and have a top notch roster of artist in the webstore that will drive buyers to return to check out what is the latest at Tryxo.

What genres of music should a user expect to find on tryxo.com?

We accept all kinds of music genres on http://www.tryxo.com - anything from HipHop to Rock, Jazz to Pop or RnB and even Spoken Word. Part of our team works with Urban Artists while others provide knowledge in areas like Rock, Alternative and House.

What are some of the reasons for making tryxo.com exclusive to the independent music industry?

We feel that it is important that there is a worldwide outlet that provides as many services to the independent music industry as possible. There are many great artists signed to Major Labels, but these artists already have online stores, get radio play and tour worldwide. Why not provide the same for the independent music industry?

What are some of the ways tryxo.com plans on attracting potential music buyers?

The main selling points is the very competitive price compared to the major websites and retail outlets. At the same time, the quality of the music is very high. Tryxo will use a cutting edge Marketing Campaign which will launch in the U.S. and Europe

Customer relations will be a focal point. We will continuously improve the customers experience and add new features to Tryxo, so end-users continue to return to check out the latest releases and ultimately to purchase music from these great independent artists.

There are already several independent based online retail destinations. Can you discuss some of the advantages of selling your music on tryxo.com?

First and foremost http://www.tryxo.com is set up as a store. It is easy for the buyers to find their way to the product they are looking for and have a pleasurable shopping experience.

The process of signing up and uploading songs is simple and fast (based on your Internet connection) and we provide a simple online contract signing procedure which allows us to work with artists from all over the world.

We do quality control and although anyone can sign up - for free - not all the songs will be released for sale, so that buyers will not be flooded with a lot of music - quality not quantity is the key. This gives the artists the opportunity to shine.

Once their songs are released artists and bands can always see how many times the songs have sold and how much they are due to receive, so they have full awareness of their financial situation with Tryxo.

And last but not least, we mentioned before that we start with international presence and intend to bridge the gap between the different independent music segments worldwide - with sales.

Soul/Jazz Artist U-Nam To Release His 3rd Album UNANIMITY

"The Future Of Smooth Jazz"
Following the success of his highly acclaimed album "Back From The 80's" (Trippin'N'Rhytm 2007) which featured last years hit single "Street Life" ( Top 3 US Billboard Charts Contemporary Jazz ), U-Nam is back with a unique conceptual style that will continue to engage Smooth Jazz Fans as well as capture the hearts of Soul and R&B enthusiasts.

The album title "UNANIMITY" is U-Nam's own musical manifestation of six key ingredients :

1 - Creativity : using everyday life experience to express yourself and communicate to others
2 - Humanity : showing love , peace and respect to the people
3 - Integrity : being true to yourself and your art
4 : Originality : being unique and different
5 - Sensibility : sharing passion, love and emotions through music and playing
6 - Sincerity : playing with all your heart and soul

"UNANIMITY" is an unexpected and refreshing mix of Neo-Soul, Funk, Jazz, Pop & R&B. The album's versatility and uniqueness shines through a combination of strong grooves, masterful songwriting, jazz improvisation, lushy orchestrations and trail-blazing productions.

The first single "Shine On" in the vein of "Street Life" is a reminiscent of 80s Disco/Funk that includes an Infectious Groovy rhythm Section, a Live Strings Orchestra and a Horn section which blends seemlessly with an up to date refreshing contemporary sound, all the while maintaining synergy with U-Nam's energetic unique signature style .

Influences of Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Prince, Michael Jackson & Musiq Soulchild are heard throughout the album and U-Nam's guitar flows from insanely complicated licks to his unique soulful melodic touch with uncanny ease.

In "Soul Boy Reincarnation", Najee and U-Nam form the perfect combination over the funky track where Najee masters both the sax and the flute.

Marva King is featured on a Dance Floor/R&B revitalization version of Martha & The Vandellas's classic tune "Dancing In The Street" where U-Nam's unbelievably fast paced licks are in perfect unison with Marva's powerful soul filled voice.

Originally hailing from Paris France, U-Nam has recently relocated to the US and in just a few short months is already taking the states by storm! His soulful sound and mesmerizing melodies have kept him in constant comparison with the likes of George Benson, wowed the crowds at the Catalina Jazz Tracks Festival, commanded standing ovations at the Dave Koz and Friends Jazz Cruise, and made him a favorite of Los Angeles’ largest jazz station "The Wave".

He has written, produced for, and worked with such artists as Barry White, Billy Paul, Kool & The Gang, Luis Fonsi, Alsou, Rahsaan Patterson, Maysa Leak, Phil Perry, MC Solaar, Myron, Marva King, Cindy Daniel, Jeff Lorber, The Last Poets & Najee.
