Singer/Songwriter Jordan Corey Releases Do Me Wrong EP

Do Me Wrong -- the sophomore EP from enigmatic singer/songwriter Jordan Corey --– will be released digitally on March 5th. Produced and recorded by Jason Hollis (Pink Spiders) and Dan Dixon (Dropsonic) and mixed/mastered by Matt Hyde (No Doubt) the highly anticipated release from the Northern California native offers music fans five original tracks as well as a soulful reinvention of the Rolling Stones classic, “Miss You.” Corey’s latest release brews up a powerful sonic blend that can best be described as a “Stax Records sound with an Indie twist.” Do Me Wrong was recorded in Los Angeles at Sonora Recorders utilizing vintage gear to create a distinctly handmade, analog sound. The EP also features world-class musicians including saxophonist Lon Price (Rolling Stones/Patti LaBelle) and trumpet player Brian Schwartz (Michael BublĂ©). Do Me Wrong offers up a sound that is both classic and entirely fresh. "This EP is absolutely a breakup record,” says Corey. “Everyone can relate to the experience of ending a relationship and feeling pissed off – like you just want to move on. There’s definitely some sadness and anger in this record, but it’s still an ass-shaker and something you can groove to.” On Corey’s first single, “Tonight,” her style instantly emerges with the white-hot energy of an early Spector record. Gritty horns and lush string arrangements give tracks like “Do Me Wrong” and “Heart of Stone” an unexpected, sophisticated twist. “Good Love” is a funky stomp fueled by a powerful, 60’s-inspired brass section punctuated by handclaps and Motown-style background vocals -- while “Take it Back” is a groove-injected rocker. Corey’s rework of the Rolling Stones’ “Miss You” morphs the legendary track from a raunchy catcall into a soulful song imbued with longing. Music Review Tony Adamo's 9 Miles Of Blu

Adamo reaches into the pre-rap turf of Gil Scott-Heron here with this seductive too-short flash memoir about how he discovered jazz and its legendary envelope-pushers—Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, John Coltrane, Miles Davis. There’s energy and honor and wonder in Adamo’s words, especially in the fluid alliterative syncopated way the words reflect the inspiration that jazz gave him—as an artist, as a human being. Complementing his nimble vocals are former Herbie Hancock drummer Mike Clark and guitarist Steve Homan, both of whose equally homage-ist beats and licks, respectively, are clean but entirely their own. Devon Jackson has written about music and film for a variety of publications--from Entertainment Weekly and The Village Voice to Rolling Stone and Details. He is also the author of Conspiranoia! and currently the editor of Santa Fean magazine. Website Music

Rachael SageSlated for release via MPress Records, May 22, 2012 New York, NY: Illustrious and riveting, Rachael Sage is a born performer. With mezmerizing vocals, a natural talent for songwriting and flair in droves, it's no surprise that the prolific songstress has garnered attention internationally. "Haunted By You", set to hit via Rachael's own MPress Records on May 22nd, is a song cycle about passion and features guest vocalists Dar Williams, Katie Costello and actor/director Joshua Leonard ("Blair Witch Project", "Humpday"). The NYC-based artist and producer explains, "I fell recklessly in and out of love multiple times while writing this record. I broke a couple hearts...and I also had my heart broken pretty badly". "Haunted By You" is a record that is immediately welcoming, pulling you in from the very first melodies and swirling effortlessly and seductively through your ears and into your heart on the very first listen. Rachael Sage has become one of the busiest touring artists in independent music, performing 150+ dates a year throughout the US, UK, Europe and Asia. Recognized globally for her compelling work, she has seen airplay on BBC Radio 2 and has shared stages with Ani DiFranco, Sarah McLachlan, Colin Hay, Judy Collins, Marc Cohn and Shawn Colvin. Haunted By YouSage wrote the 13 songs on the album on piano and guitar after ending a long-term relationship. Alone, reflecting on her breakup, she found herself suddenly prolific. After her breakup she had an intense affair with someone she met overseas. "I was swept off my feet...but it was an impossible situation." "Soulstice", featuring Counting Crows' David Immergluck on mandolin, "captures that moment where I was as happy as I've ever been, even though it was fleeting." The concept of soulmates reappears throughout the record. Rachael wrote the Americana-inspired "Abby Would You Wait" about someone with whom she shared one long conversation after a gig, but with whom she connected so strongly that she saw an entire future. Likewise, the lush, acoustic guitar-based "Everything" celebrates the shameless joy of a new attraction, "when all you can see is shimmering possibility." Rachael, while an acclaimed artist in her own right, is also an accomplished business woman, running her own successful independent label MPress Records, which saw its first GRAMMY nod this year with Seth Glier's "The Next Right Thing" as well as their first Billboard charting record with Melissa Ferrick's "Still Right Here". Sage also produces her label's annual charity compilation series, "New Arrivals", whose current volume benefits homeless youth.

Duane O'Conner Captures the Calypso Monarch Title of Trinidad & Tobago

It has been said that Caribbean countries only appreciate their heroes when they have passed on, but when it comes to Calypso superstar, Duane Donald O'Connor, that isn't the case. This amazing artist is realizing huge fame while he's still very much alive, demonstrated on February 20, 2012, when Duane O'Connor dethroned Karene Asche at the Calypso Monarch competition, securing the $1 million first prize. Remaining true to his social and political commentary art form, his two songs, "The Hunt is On" and "Long Live Calypso," received the judge's collective nod to take home the crown at the Dimanche Gras show. As the Young King for 2012, Duane is a unique talent with a love of music heard through his dominant blend of artistic folk music that addresses political, social and Caribbean issues distinctive to his style. Leaving his audiences captivated by his melodic sounds, Duane combines calypso lyrics with mesmerizing rhythms that literally make the heart soar. Born in Port Spain, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, he was drawn to Calypso music at an early age, when even as a toddler, he showed signs of having an ear for music, which his parents noticed immediately. Influenced by his father, who is a prolific composer/song writer and by his mother who supports him wherever and whenever he performs, Duane had the love and encouragement of family right from the very start. Video Duane successfully participated in calypso competitions throughout grade school and later went on to the University of the West Indies. Using his education and musical abilities, he masterfully combined his education and musical talent to send a message of unity, responsibility and harmony to the world. His long lists of credits are many and in addition to being crowned the King at the Dimanche Gras show, he has also been a winner of Stars of Tomorrow as well as being a seven time Gold Awardee, five time Young Kings finalist, five time National Calypso semi finalist, three time unmatched Monarch finalist and winner of the Emancipation Monarch in 2003. Songs to his credit include Status, Forget the Branch, Stand T&T, Thriller and Jourvert Morning to name a few. Duane has literally turned his inspired passion into a successful career. In combination with his musical career, Duane also serves as a Police Officer, where he works with youth in the Arts throughout the Western part of the country. Never in the history of the Trinidad & Tobago Police department has a police officer ever captured the prestigious Calypso Monarch title, a title Duane proudly wears. This week in recognition of his huge win, many articles appeared in publications including Calypso Vibrations, Trinidad and Tobago Newsday, CTNT World, Youtube, Trinidad Express, Guardian Media and Twitter. The generously proportioned 6 feet 7 inch entertainer is a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Junior Calypso organization committee where he stands on a solid foundation as he performs to keep calypso alive. He also serves as a Master of Ceremonies at some of the organization's important programs and often hosts the annual Kiddies Carnival Calypso show being held in the capital city. As a testament to his talent, his debut CD titled "The Right Voice" was a clear demonstration as to how Duane O'Connor views his role as an entertainer and as a man. Barleyfields Records Makes Debut With "After All" On Leap Day

The St Louis, MO based musical group Barley Station is proud to announce the release of their first album, "After All," under their new label: Barleyfields Records. The album will be available via major digital outlets such as iTunes, Amazon, Verizon, Napster, etc. Physical copies will be made available via CDBaby.com and through CD Baby’s physical distribution partners. The album contains the critcally favored single "I Found You," which the Music Dish Journal described as "Rootsy alternative country at its best: catchy guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and a contagious harmony with simple but cool, happy go lucky lyrics [that] make this a likeable and great track that’s easy on the ears and warming to the heart." About Barley Station: Barley Station is one of those rare triple-fronted and multiple songwriter-vocalist bands (two male, one female) whose music combines the roots of Americana, Pop/Rock, Country, and Folk and puts them in a blender with a dash of amaretto pouring out a tasty glass of sound. The result is a distinctly alternative blend that draws deeply from its roots yet looks forward to the future. Reverb Nation artist David Namerow exclaims: "Barley Station cuts cleanly and crisply through the genre clutter with grooves that slice directly to the heart with honest power. Finally, music with teeth, heart and soul!” I Am Entertaiment Magazine put it this way, “Barley Station's eclectic brand of rock, country and folk music will give fans of those genres something to talk about. Unlike many bands, Barley Station isn't just creating music and calling it alternative, they've really mixed things up on AFTER ALL, making it a truly alternative rock album. Barley Station prides itself upon featuring two, three, and occasionally four-part harmonies, driving rhythms, and contagious melodies. The songwriting covers the gamut of emotions moving from upbeat bright material to darker or introspective moods. The sound is punctuated throughout with alternative country, bright pop/rock to progressive folk and alternative pop/rock sensibilities.
