Rising Pop/R&B Artist, Minh, Warms Up With Layers

(Washington, DC - October 19, 2010) - Minh, a rising artist-producer based out of the DC area, has released Layers under Jayden Records on October 14, 2010. The self-produced album marks the beginning of his aggressive push into the industry after the release of his "primer" album, Dreamgirl's Heart, earlier in February 2010. Incorporating a blend of pop, r&b, and electro, Layers is concept album that depicts the journey of finding love, losing it, and self-realization in the process. Displaying his ability to do it all, Minh wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered this entire album over the course of four months in his home.

The album's leading single, "These Blinds Shut", is a counter-intuitive slow jam about a lover's plea for more effort on the part of the other to save their relationship. The decision to highlight this song before the more upbeat songs came easy. "There's a lot of upbeat dance music out right now, which I love. But, I wanted to bring something different to the table as a new artist," Minh explains. "So we chose ‘These Blinds Shut'. Plus, every girl I've played it for absolutely loves it."

Layers showcases some dance-floor friendly production chops on "Fresh", "Get In or Get Out", and "Top That". It gets sexy with the throwback "She Feels Good", which sounds like it should be the backdrop for a high-fashion catwalk. "Broken Lover" paints a perfect picture of the ugly cycle of heartbreak. After it's all said and done, Minh makes a statement about his challenges in pursuing his dream of musical stardom in "I Must Go" and "Star". Minh ends the album with "Every Word", a song written for his daughter, who was born during the production of the album.

"I was tempted to put out only singles, but I'm too in love with the idea of an album," says Minh. "There's something special about sharing a collection of songs that is a window into a period of your life. It's art. I love the process of weaving grooves and thoughts into a song, and then, weaving the songs into an album that means something - something personal to me, and, hopefully, something personal to the listener."

A 14-city North America tour is currently being planned for Winter/Spring/Summer of 2011 to support the album release, which will include performances in malls, high schools, colleges, and club venues. Details will be announced on his official site, www.reachminh.com, as they are finalized.

ABOUT MINH - Going simply by his first name, Minh is among the movement of self-produced artists taking their place in music history. His ever-evolving sound and eclectic releases can be best described as a pop-infused blend of his personal musical influences, from John Legend to John Mayer and Justin Timberlake to David Guetta. Also a prolific songwriter-producer, Minh is a voting member of The Recording Academy (the Grammy) and an ASCAP songwriter and publisher. He is also the co-founder of the indie label, Jayden Records - a division of his marketing and entertainment imprint, Minh Unlimited.

Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, he immigrated to the DC area with his family when he was 9 years old. He had already started writing poems by that age and began writing songs by the age of 13. In middle school, he penned a song that would be sung by his school's choir during their annual Christmas concert. This and winning some talent competitions during his early school days were tell-tale signs of what is to come.

In 2005, he began exploring a career in music, performing at open mics while producing music in his home project studio. This resulted in his first self-produced album, "Life.Love.Soul.", which was released in early 2006. Music at that point seemed more like a hobby than an actual career. It wasn't until 2009 that Minh set out to begin his career as a performing artist and producer/songwriter. His 2010 electronic-soul release, "Dreamgirl's Heart", served as a primer for his push into the industry. Within a few months of its release, Minh landed a film/TV licensing contract for that album with Hella Good Records out of Los Angeles, CA.

Now on his third self-produced release, Layers, Minh is an evident career artist, whose music is constantly evolving yet is consistently soulful and melodic. As a performer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur, he is one to watch for as he continues to rise among the next generation of entertainment moguls.

More information on Minh can be found on his official website, www.reachminh.com/

Stuck With Green - The Pimp Slap Song

The techno-rap remix of "The Pimp Slap Song" gets the full DJ treatment beginning with a synth sound that includes a sawtooth wave and techno style. The song slightly reminds you of a cross between the dance group Devo and Weird Al Yancovich. Techno cuts are used on the vocals to add an interesting rap flavor, which enhances the track. Definitely out of the ordinary, "The Pimp Slap Song" describes what happens when the subject and his "lady" have a disagreement and it escalates to a physical level. With lyrics like "Use the metal trash can for body armor too/Cover vital organs - it's the least that you should do/Sometimes it gets physical, she moves fast like a blur/ I put on my boxing gloves, my mouth piece is secure/Practice on your speed or you assuredly will lose/ Make your defense better with one small offensive move," you can see that it is somewhat of an original. Near the end, special effects are added, such as the ringing of the bell that signifies the start of the next round during a professional boxing match, the roar of a crowd, etc. This track is definitely an attention grabber.
