As an international artist and a trilingual songwriter, Maya Solovey has merged the acoustic/folk songwriting tradition into the territories of pop, bossa nova, and even the high drama of cinematic scoring. Her music is a surprising, yet rational marriage between many cultures as she sings in Portuguese, Spanish and her native English tongue. Her new self-titled album, Maya Solovey, released July 15th, has already gathered notice from journalists and music critics. Her song "Eu Vi" was featured in a Ralph Lauren runway video for winter fashion week, while her song "Como Yo Lloro Por Ti" will be featured on a in a FIFA World Cup compilation, and another 3 songs will be featured in an upcoming shark documentary called "Shark Allies". Tom Moon, on air critic for NPR, and journalist for Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine said, "Here's a rarity: An original voice who really is original! Drawing inspiration from all over the map, Maya Solovey has developed a deep, enchanting sound that's unlike anything else out there right now." Bassy Bob Brockmann, a multiple Grammy winning producer/mixer said, "Maya Solovey is an exceptional songwriter, possessed of a voice that is haunting, soothing, and erotic all at the same time. Her music, I'm sure, will change the world."

MarilynMusic Works On MSNBC Anchor Martin Bashir's Upcoming Album

Few people realize that in addition to being a respected journalist and media personality, Martin Bashir also plays bass reggae. The 'Dateline' contributor and MSNBC afternoon anchor, has been working on his upcoming 14 song reggae album called "Bass Lion." Produced Cary Haase and mixed by Marilyn Music's Casey Conrad, the album is slated for Fall 2010 independent release. Mixed in August at Headman's Studios, "Bass Lion" offers a combination of traditional and contemporary Jamaican music, with all 14 tracks having been recorded in Jamaica. Selected songs from the album will be used in his upcoming daily hourly investigative reporting show on MSNBC.

MarilynMusic is the partnership of musicians/composers Michael Gaines and Casey Conrad. Gaines and Conrad created MarilynMusic to marry their love and knowledge of a broad range of musical genres with the tastes of today’s pop audience. The prolific duo has numerous tracks recorded and produced, with new material constantly coming down the pipeline. Gaines and Conrad collaborate on every aspect of the music from the writing to the finished product, but the two have distinct roles in the process. Gaines is primarily responsible for lyrical composition and Conrad produces the recordings. Both write the music and play on the recordings – Conrad on bass and drums and Gaines on guitar.

Chosen View - 'Under The Swell'

The Memphis based quintet, Chosen View, delivers a fresh rock sound that can't be captured by categorizing them in just one genre as their tunes are so unique. The vocals are brilliant and guitars give the track all the warmness it needs to be a powerful hit.

The track shows all the struggles of life. This is definitely a band to watch in the coming future as they release more material to really emphasize their role in modern rock music and bring to light the quality of their debut, The Common Thread.

Julien Drolon Brings "Peace Through Music" To The Philippines' EarthDance In September 2010

Pop singer/songwriter Julien Drolon has a message of peace for the world, and he's expressing it through his music. Drolon will perform on September 18th as part of the EarthDance Global Festival For Peace, the world's largest synchronized music and dance festival for peace. He will perform his debut single "Peace Through Music" among other songs at the event. EarthDance has been held annually in over 500 locations in 80 countries with all events simultaneously joining together in the Prayer for Peace.

Drolon commented, "Music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. It doesn't matter whether people are from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds - music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race."

The Philippine celebration of EarthDance will take place during a larger, month long Peace Festival - a series of gigs in Manila celebrating and promoting peace through music. While the festival dates are August 20th - September 21st, the main event is actually Earth Dance, which is a 48 hour span of time during which there is a global celebration. Drolon kicked off the Peace Festival on August 20th, and is excited about his role in EarthDance as well.

"Many local artists will be featured in this event alongside Joey Ayala, a contemporary pop artist in the Philippines. He is well known for his style of music that combines the sounds of Filipino ethnic instruments with modern pop music. Kadangyan Band will also play - they are my friends and I love their music. It's a fusion of different Filipino traditional beats with the elements of modern rock music."

Drolon plays guitar and sings in English, French, Portuguese, Tagalog (the native language of the Philippines), and his musical style is pop influenced by reggae, funk and rock. His Filipino band, which records and plays with him on the road, consists of Enzo Queyquep on lead guitar, Joseph Duenas on bass, drummer Bon Sundiang, and keyboardist Leal Nanca.

About Julien Drolon
Julien Drolon is a singer, songwriter, and former International Reporter, but the native Frenchman who now resides and records his album in the Philippines is on a musical mission for peace. JAYY STARR! SKILL ABOVE SPECULATION!

If You Look Into The Mirror, You See God's Beautiful Lyrics, But When You Turn Off The Radio You Hear Death Turn Into Unsung Words

"Which One of Ya'll" by Jayy Starr

Los Angeles native and female emcee, JAYY STARR cleverly delivers swagger heavy wordplay in her latest track effort "Which One of Y'all", which is a joint that explains her reason for macking any fellow she wants in the club. While production wise, the track knocks heavy. "Which One of Y'all" is a song that definitely leaves you wanting more. If Jayy is able to keep up the momentum with songs like this, she will have a solid career ahead… now DATZHOTT!

Jayy Starr's latest mixtape "Lost & Found, Vol. 2" will be released September 1st.

WHAT's HOTT!?! ABOUT JAYY STARR!!!

Her Ability To Rise Above And Beyond Speculation!

Jayy Starr defies any and all speculation most people create about female rappers.

With content that holds a plethora of clever wordplay, tons of fun and high energy and an abundance of creativity. Mixing, wit, swagger, and harmony all skillfully blended with a seamless flow that separates this young woman from a lot of other female rap artists new to the game. As her distinctive rap flow that is sexy enough to show she is a lady but raw enough to be a contender in any cipher. My favorite song from Jayy is a track called "Soft Courage" where she spews heartfelt lyrics about the power of inner-strength and the lessons of life.

Starr has also opened for stars such as Drake, Jeremih, Bobby Valentino, and Trey Songz.

She was also featured on Myspace Music Aug 2009 with an exclusive premiere of her music video "Face Off" directed by Quattro of Digital Noise Pictures, which also went on to win Season 3 Episode 6 of Indie Music Television and Tyght Whyte's single "Come Here" alongside Hurricane Chris.

Jayy's buzz is building vastly on the streets and the internet. As everyone already knows, this is one artist we need to keep our eyes on.

Trash A GoGo Surf In Shanghai

2010 Trash a gogo / Nippon Season

9/22 @ YYT The Whys / Friend or Foe / The Beat Bandits
9/23 @ Logo The Dudettes / Hotter Than Teppanyaki / The Beat Bandits / Special Guest
9/24 @ 696 Pairs / The Beat Bandits / The Whys

And so: it was decreed by the Party Elders known only as MT Hooligans that the one night monthly music-orgy known as TRASH A GO-GO would no longer satisfy the coffers of blood required to satiate the People's lust for ROCKABILLY, PUNK, SURF, GARAGE, and ALL THINGS SONICALLY FREAKY.

And so: the pail moon mirrored the faces of the horrified masses of Shanghai when the pamphlet was nailed in the town forum. No longer would Trash A G0-GO be one night, but in SEPTEMBER, THREE! THREE NIGHTS OF DEPRAVITY! THREE NIGHTS OF MONSTER JAMS! THREE NIGHTS OF CRASH! BOOM! BAM!

And so: the denizens read on, silently, slowly, to see the names of the monsters that would feast this month.

The Whys:
http://www.myspace.com/whysjapan
Smoking hot Japanese surf-rock chicks (and one dude) that are known to shimmy hula style. Their sound is lean, clean, and mean with with walloping reverb galore.

The Beat Bandits:
http://www.douban.com/artist/beatbandits/
With a foot in the ass-shaking surf-swing of Dick Dale and The Champs, the Beat Bandits allows listeners to hang-ten over bouncy baselines and jumpy keyboards until...until....CRASH! Mizuzu's Tsunami-sized guitar roars waves at the audience like a long-lost Godzilla villain. You're caught in the middle as these two sides duel it out, leaving the listener to pogo and twist with equal zeal.

The Pairs:
http://www.douban.com/artist/pairs/
A two-some that leans more to Suicide than more contemporary rock-duos, Pairs brings a wall of disheartening, angular drone that disarms before drummer/vocalist Rhys smashes your conscience to bits. Wailing guitars and vocals make this the LOUDEST band of the night.

Hotter Than Teppanyaki:
http://www.myspace.com/hotterthanteppanyaki
There are seven people in this ensemble. I have no idea how they will fit onto the stage at LoGo. That may be their whole show (and worth it).

The Dudettes:
Outrageous vaudeville featuring their hit (you on the ass songs) like "H1N1" and "Facebook Stalker."

Friend or Foe:
A new band that is blasting onto the Shanghai scene with funky, dancy, dirty rock and roll. There theatrics and energy will make you get down.

DJ B.O:
He rebels against people who DJ because they are afraid to dance in public. He will sing and dance to provoke movement; he is somewhere between vaudeville and Warhol. Featuring vintage-hits and forgotten favorites, he thinks dance music is for pussies but The Shanghri-Las are fucking artists, man. Tech? NO

Eurosonic Noorderslag: Speakers, Norway Success, ETEP Results, European Festival Awards And More

Eurosonic Noorderslag is Europe's premiere live music industry conference and showcase festival for European talent, taking place in the picturesque university town of Groningen the Netherlands from 12th - 15th January 2011.

For this special 25th edition, Eurosonic Noorderslag is proud to present two keynote speakers from America. The first being Bob Lefsetz, whose provocative industry email newsletter provides an independent, sometimes visionary, take on the state of the music business around the world. And the second, US journalist Fred Goodman who has extensive knowledge of the industry and with his ability to access people "in the know", he has been dissecting the global music industry woes and exposing in details its colorful characters. Expect an hour full of revelations, provocative views and entertaining anecdotes with one of the music industry's foremost chroniclers.

The event will also start a day earlier on Wednesday 12th January and will feature the European Border Breakers Awards (open for all delegates) and the European Festival Awards (Festivals and Promoters only). Both events will take place in the evening. The conference starts on Thursday and during the three day program over 100 panels and meetings will address the current developments and state of affairs within the European music industry, focusing on European music, touring, festivals, the (live) music industry and media developments. The conference also features industry meetings by: Yourope, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP), The European Export Office(s) and Network Europe.

Norwegian artist success at Eurosonic:
Norway was chosen as focus country for Eurosonic 2010, with 22 acts performing showcases during the event and as a result more than 80 festival shows and 40 club shows and tours have been offered to the Norwegian artists. Several acts also ended up with agent representation in new territories and received massive press interest and radio airplay. At least 15 agent deals were signed during or after the event. This is especially important, as these deals will generate business for a longer period of time and has given artists a wide variety of valuable exposure, which in turn will increase the interest in Norwegian music in the European market.

One example of an act that obtained great results from Eurosonic 2010 is The Megaphonic Thrift. They were offered 8 festival shows and signed a deal with an agent for Europe, which in turn resulted in 35 shows. They also got UK radio airplay after the Eurosonic gig. Another example is the jazz-metal band Shining, who received 15 festival offers and two tours, in addition to massive mainstream press coverage and increased record sales in the Benelux territory.

This proves that Eurosonic has become a very important arena for Norwegian bands in alternative genres.

"Eurosonic is by far the most important European festival for people in the live music industry" says Vegard Strømsodd of Amber Booking, who represented the five acts Shining, Audrey Horne, Rockettothesky, The Low Frequency In Stereo and Major Parkinson at Eurosonic 2010.

Artists that performed at Eurosonic 2010 were; Audrey Horne, Mari Boine, Diskjokke, Donkeyboy, Harrys Gym, I Was a King, Jarle Bernhoft, Kaizers Orchestra, Kvelertak, Major Parkinson, Marit Larsen, The Megaphonic Thrift, Monolithic, Noora Noor, Pony the Pirate, Rockettothesky, Serena Maneesh, Shining, Sivert Høyem, The Low Frequency In Stereo, Ungdomskulen, Wardruna.

Testimonials:
'The best organized music conference on earth' Folkert Koopmans, Fpk Scorpio, (DE)

'The whole event is in the beautiful town of Groningen and has a great vibe that comes with all early shows in bands careers. It just so happened that after our show, some of the audience became fans and thus asked us to play on some of the festivals and shows that they book and that was very flattering. From that show we were allowed to discover some beautiful areas of Europe over the summer'. Charles Cave, White Lies (GB)

'One of the most important platforms there is for bands looking to break into the Europeean Market' Music Week (GB)

"At first we were a bit intimidated by the thought of playing mostly for industry people and we started worrying, but as soon as we started playing we realized that they are of course people too and like to dance and listen to music. The show ended up being incredibly fun with a jumping crowd and wet walls and sweaty dancers. We got offered to play at really nice festivals after this show and that made it even more worthwhile." FM Belfast (IS)

'Due to their gig at Eurosonic Noorderslag, The Megaphonic Thrift signed an European booking deal with top agent Steve Zapp of ITB'. The Megaphonic Thrift (NO)
"Eurosonic is by far the most important European festival for people in the live music industry" Vegard Strømsodd, Amber Booking (NO)

'The most important gathering in the European live music business calendar' Pollstar (USA)

'I found the conference extremely valuable. The delegates are valuable connections in the
European music business. The showcase artists were top notch. Best of all is the proximity of the venues to each other, allowing the delegates to see a huge variety of music in one night.' Tom Windish, The Windish Agency (USA)

Additional event info:
Eurosonic Noorderslag is Europe's most important live music industry conference and showcase festival for European talent. With over 2800 delegates, showcases by 260 artists and a conference with 100 panels, keynote speakers, interviews and meetings, EuroSonic Noorderslag is the key exchange and networking platform for European music, European artists, international music industry professionals and organizations.

2011 is the events 25th birthday and as Eurosonic Noorderslag focuses each edition on a different European country, featuring performances by the best artists and organizing panels about the specifics of that market, it only felt natural to do the 2011 focus on The Netherlands.

Grammy Award-Winning Eartha, Releases Third CD, Ink Dry Blue

September 14, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, Eartha, proudly announces the release of her third studio CD, Ink Dry Blue, September 21, 2010. Eartha performs at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on September 24, at 8 p.m.

Eartha's sophomore 2002 release, Sidebars, earned her two Grammy Award nominations and a win for "Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album" at the 45th Annual Grammy Awards hosted in New York City in 2003. The illustrious Grammy recognition came on the heels of the success of her well-received first single, Love Jones, from her 2000 debut CD This I Know. This I Know, when remixed and released as a five mix Maxi-Single in 2001, pumped dance floors from coast-to-coast and shot to the #2 on the Billboard Hot Dance Breakouts Maxi Singles chart. All Music Guide's Jonathan Widran said of This I Know, "If this impressive recording is any indication, Eartha Moore stands poised to become a powerful presence..."

After a seven year hiatus to write, record and produce a multitude of other artists, musicians, and producers throughout Los Angeles in underground club, urban, and indie circles, the 5'11" sultry raspy-voice contralto, who sports a honey-blonde buzz cut, is about to make her presence known again. Eartha's third studio release, Ink Dry Blue, in where she wrote all songs and plays all instruments, is being heralded as a re-invention of her award-winning sound and a musical style that is a hybrid of many and evades categorization.

Rolling Out Magazine said of Eartha's 2001 release, Love Jones, "Many artists have begun infusing all types of sounds into their music, making it diverse and often unpredictable. Eartha is leading the way." And again, Eartha continues to trail-blaze. A radical departure from the soulful Gospel sound of her previous two CDs, Ink Dry Blue promises to be more "indie friendly", falling into a very accessible and commercial female-fronted Alt-Pop/Rock, Singer/Songwriter category while not losing sight of her distinctive and innovative appeal that has established her as an original and evocative recording artist with her AAA fans.

Eartha also performs at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go on November 13 at 8 p.m. Complete Eartha news, show and tour info can be found at www.earthaonline.com

Heartbreak Hotel Comes To Brooklyn's Pete's Candy Store On September 21st

Pete's Candy Store on September 21st will be the place to be for Heartbreak Hotel - the theme of the night. Come and reminisce with singer/songwriter Maya Solovéy and let moody dark and white chocolates melt away your worries. Maya herself will be making homemade raw chocolate truffles, and everyone gets a red velvet cloth to tantalize their sense of touch, as the fragrance of incense fills the air.

Solovey, who writes and records in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and who normally performs on the guitar, has a hidden talent ' she also plays piano. She's written several songs that people have never heard before, and is looking forward to sharing them with the audience. She states, "Most people know that I play the guitar, but very few know that the piano was actually my first instrument. So, the songs that I'll be performing will be new to almost everyone. They have a much different tone, and almost all focus on relationships, since the piano is such a convenient instrument for the "dramatic ballad," she chuckles. "But I will try to throw some redemption in there towards the end, since one can only take so many heartbreak songs, myself included."

Solovey will perform at 9:30 p.m.
