Who cares if we’re at opposite ends of the earth, as long as we’re connected through music? KEXP Radio and the OFF Festival Katowice are launching a collaborative project.
The city of Seattle, in Washington state, is at the heart of alternative music. Not just because it’s home to the legendary Sub Pop Records, long-time friends of the OFF Festival, but also thanks to KEXP, a local radio station with a worldwide audience. While the internet is certainly an important factor in their global reach (KEXP pioneered online radio and remains miles ahead of other music stations), the Seattle broadcaster has also stayed true to its mission to find and promote new and interesting sounds. KEXP has helped usher many new bands onto the American scene: the recent influx of new Icelandic music is just one example.
The OFF Festival shares the same mission: to discover and showcase interesting music, with no regard for its home country or genre. That has been the festival’s modus operandi since its inception, and for our faithful audiences, it’s been a promise of the highest quality and a great adventure.
We have so much in common that the partnership between the OFF Festival and KEXP was a natural step forward for both sides. This August, at the 10th anniversary edition of the festival, for the first time ever, we will be hosting the KEXP crew as they come to Katowice to cover the event for listeners around the world and to record their famous live sessions, which will also include performances by Polish artists.
“KEXP is thrilled to partner with the OFF festival in 2015, a beautifully curated festival featuring some of the best Polish bands alongside legends like Patti Smith and Ride, and newer projects like Run the Jewels. KEXP exists to help people discover the greatest music being made. We look forward to sharing some of the amazing artists from Poland and beyond with the KEXP audience worldwide,” says KEXP program director Kevin Cole.
“It’s a great privilege to be the second European music festival, after Iceland Airways, to partner with KEXP, and it confirms my belief that we’ve been heading in the right direction for the past ten years. It’s great to continue down that road in such excellent company. But KEXP’s presence at the OFF Festival is also an enormous opportunity for Polish artists, who will have a chance to reach out from Katowice to audiences all over the world,” adds OFF Festival program director Artur Rojek.

Rise and Fall's soul-baring songcraft and impassioned performances are the product of an extended period during which the artist experienced a series of major life changes. "These songs are the product of the last few years of my life, which were pretty heavy," Kurtz notes. "My father died. My marriage ended. I moved from Brooklyn to New Orleans. I had a couple years of wild oat-sowing, and then I found a grand new love. There's been a lot to think about and a lot to write about, and all of that is in these songs."

Eventide announced an update of its H3000 Factory plug-in for AAX, VST, and AU that delivers improved performance and has been re-factored to better emulate the DSP processing of the classic rack-mount hardware. H3000 Factory is a re-creation of several algorithms from the venerable H3000 that combine pitch, delay, modulation, and filtering in a modular interface. And, for the month of April, it’s available at a deep discount.
“The H3000 Factory plug-in now sounds closer to the original than ever before.” said Ray Maxwell, VP of Sales and Marketing. “There has never been a better time to get a piece of this legendary processor for your DAW.”
This plug-in offers unrivaled creative possibilities by virtue of a stunning combination of unique Harmonizer effects in a re-imagined UI that allows the user to patch together any combination of 18 effects, including the H3000 Function Generator with 19 waveshapes, in endless permutations. The resulting sounds must be heard to be believed.
“There’s such a specific sound that nothing else sounds like,” said Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele, Black Sabbath, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson, Metallica, Linkin Park, Weezer), “I use the plug-in very much like I use the H3000 (hardware), but I tweak a lot more with the plug-in than I ever did with the hardware. It’s as easy as using a preset at this point - which is awesome. I’m a fan.”
H3000 Factory features over 500 presets including over 100 Artist presets from Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails), Chris Carter (Throbbing Gristle), Colin Newman (Wire), Damian Taylor (Bjork), Dave Darlington (Bass Hit Studios), Kerry Leva (EDM Producer), Richard Devine (Sound Designer), and Scott Martin Gershin (Soundeluxe). It also includes over 100 original presets from the original H3000 rack processor.

Eventide was founded in 1971 in New York City and is a leading developer and manufacturer of digital audio processing products for recording, broadcast, and live performance. Dance music star JES has already released two of this year's stand-out tracks – "Two Souls" & "Yai (Here We Go Again)" with Cosmic Gate. Now, the diminutive diva with the big voice returns with the debut release "Hold On" on her own, brand new label InToneNation Records.
Purchase On iTunes: http://apple.co/1bPsCX4
JES, who has achieved almost every career milestone possible in dance music, has launched InToneNation to gain more artistic control of her releases. As creative head, she will be helping to shape the musical output of the label, along with her handpicked team.
"Hold On," out now, is a hard hitting, progressive house collaboration with rising stars Shant & Clint Maximus. Growing form a gritty bass groove into a huge vocal refrain, the song draws on the emotions of a troubled heart with an ultimately inspiring message. "I first met Shant & Clint Maximus when I was on tour. Their passion and commitment to the craft impressed me right away. We have worked on some great remixes together, so it was a dream for us to be able to work on a full release together. 'Hold On' is very special for me. It's like the story of the label in a song and I wanted to launch the label with something that would have a universal appeal."
As the label grows, InToneNation will be a company that can nurture new talent and creativity. After being a part of the orchestral Electric Opus project, JES noted the obvious hunger the dance community has for new experiences. The inclusion of more live elements in shows and performances is something you can expect from JES & InToneNation.
To celebrate the launch, JES will be personally reviewing demo submissions within the next 30 days, ending on May 1, 2015, and signing her favorite track to the new label, with a premiere on her syndicated radio show, Unleash The Beat. Submit your unsigned track here http://bit.ly/InToneNationDemoSubmit
"From singing and songwriting to producing and DJing, New York City born- Los Angeles based JES does it all. She has worked with the longtime tastemakers and powerhouses like COSMIC GATE, FERRY CORSTEN, BT, and TIESTO - just to name a few- providing vocals on multiple No.1 chart topping tracks; many of which have become indicative of dance music. Her original singles have been remixed by industry greats such as KASKADE, ABOVE & BEYOND, ARMIN VAN BUUREN and many more. "
