Pennan Brae - Need You Now

Pennan Brae's new video, "Need You Now", is an energetic accompaniment to a quick-paced little ditty from Brae's 2009 album 'Amber Glow.' Shot in Japan, the video follows a paper airplane as it flies through the streets and shops of Osaka, on its way to a young man's sweetheart. Injected throughout the video are close-up shots of singer-songwriter Pennan as he serenades into an electric blue mic and his guitarist strums along. Bright colors, lots of movement, and a heartwarming backstory make "Need You Now" a video worth giving up 150 seconds of your time for.

Pennan Brae's video, 'Need You Now' was shot in the sweltering heat of Osaka this August, 2010. DIrected by Mogcat Productions, the premise is of a young man writing a love letter which he folds into a paper airplane & hurls in the air, hoping it finds his love.

The paper airplane begins its hopeful journey for 'her'. It navigates crowds by the thousands, skips past planes, trains & automobiles & ventures in an arcade & music store, amongst other places.

Pennan & Mogcat looked forward to uncovering attractive backdrops. Luckily, Osaka is full of bright lights & unique settings that only exist in Japan. The pair filmed on the roof of the highest spot in town. They captured a glass escalator 550 feet above the ground. The duo took for the tallest Ferris Wheel & timed their shots within the ride's big circle. They went underground for scenes in the Osaka subway system & filmed in the halls of an infamous 'love hotel' (ie; you can rent the room by the hour). Waived off by security guards & watched warily by security cameras, it was a non-stop adventure from start to finish.

& as day gives way to night, the paper airplane discovers its destination & lands at the feet of the girl for whom it was sent. As she opens the note, it reveals the title of the song & message of the author; 'I Need You Now'!

Other Fun Facts:

-2010 was the hottest summer on record in Japan since 1946
-Osaka recorded the hottest temperatures within Japan during the shooting of the video
-2 Ferris Wheels were used in the video, 1 in Kobe & 1 in Osaka
-3 locations were used; Kyoto, Kobe & Osaka

Don't you know I say I need you
Yes I do
Don't you know now that I need you
Yes I do
I need you now...

Know the joy and pain
Being by myself
Felt the sun and rain
Freedom and self-doubt

Now I've been through that
Thought a time or two
'Bout my longings and desires
To be with you

I need you now...

Now that you've tried
To make it on your own
What is rusted
Was once a heart of gold

As you decide
To come back for a try
Heard you whisper
Beneath your alibi

I need you now...

All the things you do
Time and time again
Like the world they turn
Back to you my friend

If we pursue that path
Which leads to our demise
Its fruitless yield
Would be as no surprise
Let's buck the trend
See with your own eyes

MarilynMusic Addresses Gulf Oil Crisis With New Track "The Black Wave"

With each new day, the details of the damage caused by the BP oil spill in Gulf of Mexico bring more bad news. It's the topic of many conversations, and many people's lives and businesses have been devastated as a result of it. Songwriting duo MarilynMusic is expressing their concern through a new track entitled, "The Black Wave" in an effort to bring attention to environmental and ecological issues before we reach the point of no return. The track is available on iTunes at http://tinyurl.com/BlackWaveSong

"Black Wave" is a pop testament to the tragic, disastrous and devastating oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. MarilynMusic starts off with all of the elements of a hippie-era pop song - mellow vocals backed by strumming guitar and sounds from the ocean. But then it shifts into a higher gear, sounding like something from a hipster's playlist, but with more substance. Its profound focus is that we need to care more about our planet. With lyrics like "There's a black wave coming, darkness drowning out the light," and "Digging deep inside our mother's heart each day, her well will soon run dry if we don't change," MarilynMusic successfully gets the message across that we need to quickly get our priorities in order. Musically, it is a strong tune with a catchy rhythm and harmonic vocals. Adding to it is well placed guitar strumming by Michael Gaines and Colin Smith, with Casey Conrad doing his part on the bass and drums.

MarilynMusic is the partnership of musicians/composers Michael Gaines and Casey Conrad. Gaines and Conrad created MarilynMusic to marry their love and knowledge of a broad range of musical genres with the tastes of today's pop audience. The prolific duo has numerous tracks recorded and produced, with new material constantly coming down the pipeline. Gaines and Conrad collaborate on every aspect of the music from the writing to the finished product, but the two have distinct roles in the process. Gaines is primarily responsible for lyrical composition and Conrad produces the recordings. Both write the music and play on the recordings – Conrad on bass and drums and Gaines on guitar.

MarilynMusic released their debut EP, Pure Rock in May 2010 - a whirlwind tour through rock and roll history. Each song offers different timbres and seems to draw influence from a different place. With sound ranging from the Beatles to Steve Miller, these tracks are unique and definitely all rock.

"Black Wave" is available for purchase through iTunes at:

Rock Guitarist Dean Shoultz Delivers 5 Free Tracks From His New Solo Album "Suite Emotions"

(New Orleans) On October 5th, 2010 rock guitarist Dean Shoultz is set to release his second solo album "Suite Emotions" on his new label Taylor-Jordan Entertainment. In addition Dean will deliver 5 Tracks from his new album Free of Charge just by joining his mailing list at www.deanshoultz.com

"Dean Shoultz is a rock guitarist, who can tear up the fret board - yet his musical compositions transcend a single instrument or style. His music is compelling, accessible and emotional. From the opening track "Cradle of Able" to the closing track "Night Noises", you will feel like you're in a movie soundtrack," says Producer Pershing Wells.

In order for Dean to achieve the feel he envisioned on this album, he enlisted the talents of Drummer Ryan Hoyle, who is best known for his work with Collective Soul and Paul Rodgers Band (Free, Bad Company and Queen). Ryan played and recorded all 10 drum tracks from his world-class Cave Studio in Los Angeles, CA. "He brings a sense of power as well as the beauty and the beast in his performance and musical collaboration on this album" says Dean. "I am very excited to have him as a part of this project."

Stephen Michael Apatow - A Global Call To Action For The Millennium Medicine Project Global Cancer Initiative

Currently, in treatment under the Head and Neck Program at Smilow Cancer Hospital and the Yale School of Medicine, [1] Stephen Michael Apatow, founder of Humanitarian Resource Institute and United Nations Arts Initiative [2] advances a global call to action....

According to the World Health Organization: [3]

* Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide: it accounted for 7.4 million deaths (around 13% of all deaths) in 2004.
* Lung, stomach, liver, colon and breast cancer cause the most cancer deaths each year.
* The most frequent types of cancer differ between men and women.
* More than 30% of cancer deaths can be prevented.
* Tobacco use is the single most important risk factor for cancer.
* Cancer arises from a change in one single cell. The change may be started by external agents and inherited genetic factors.
* Deaths from cancer worldwide are projected to continue rising, with an estimated 12 million deaths in 2030.

What causes cancer?

Cancer arises from one single cell. The transformation from a normal cell into a tumour cell is a multistage process, typically a progression from a pre-cancerous lesion to malignant tumours. These changes are the result of the interaction between a person's genetic factors and three categories of external agents, including:

* physical carcinogens, such as ultraviolet and ionizing radiation
* chemical carcinogens, such as asbestos, components of tobacco smoke, aflatoxin (a food contaminant) and arsenic (a drinking water contaminant)
* biological carcinogens, such as infections from certain viruses, bacteria or parasites.

Some examples of infections associated with certain cancers:

* Viruses: hepatitis B and liver cancer, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and cervical cancer, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Kaposi sarcoma.
* Bacteria: Helicobacter pylori and stomach cancer.
* Parasites: schistosomiasis and bladder cancer.

Ageing is another fundamental factor for the development of cancer. The incidence of cancer rises dramatically with age, most likely due to a buildup of risks for specific cancers that increase with age. The overall risk accumulation is combined with the tendency for cellular repair mechanisms to be less effective as a person grows older.

Tobacco use, alcohol use, low fruit and vegetable intake, and chronic infections from hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) and some types of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) are leading risk factors for cancer in low- and middle-income countries. Cervical cancer, which is caused by HPV, is a leading cause of cancer death among women in low-income countries.

In high-income countries, tobacco use, alcohol use, and being overweight or obese are major risk factors for cancer.

Millennium Medicine Project joins the WHO focus on collaboration, international cancer prevention and control to:

* Increase political commitment for cancer prevention and control;
* Generate new knowledge, and disseminate existing knowledge to facilitate the delivery of evidence-based approaches to cancer control;
* Develop standards and tools to guide the planning and implementation of interventions for prevention, early detection, treatment and care;
* Facilitate broad networks of cancer control partners at global, regional and national levels;
* Strengthen health systems at national and local levels; and
* Provide technical assistance for rapid, effective transfer of best practice interventions to developing countries.

As outlined in the Millennium Medicine Project objectives, [4] medical and public health infrastructure, in every UN member country, must be optimized to meet these needs:

Even after half a century of independence, "not more than 20 percent of the population has any access to..... basic surgical services like life saving caesarian section, or a life saving repair of typhoid perforation..." (National Human Development Report 2001). This situation can be improved only if there is adequate number of rural surgeons in India whose surgery is affordable and available near the homes of the patients. -- Realising the vital role of rural surgeons in the nation’s health care, Dr. Gazeiry, MD., FRCS., the past Regional Director of W.H.O. East Mediterranean Region remarked that rural surgery be made into a specialty.

The concept of rural surgery has been developed in India in the last thirteen years to make modern surgical care accessible to the five billion havenots of the developing world. Only one billion out the total of six billion population of the world has any access to the type of surgical care seen in the hospital of Western Europe and America. In India, out of the population of one billion as of today, not more than 10% has any access to this type of surgical care. -- Association of Rural Surgeons in India. [5]
