Singer Sherrie Keys Is Offering Free MP3 Downloads Of Christmas Music On Myspace

Christmas in November? Gospel Songstress Sherrie Keys likes to celebrate the holidays early.

"With so many attention-grabbing headlines about the economy, I thought we might capture in song the feelings of goodwill often shown during the holidays and be inspired to show Christlike behavior during challenging times," says Keys.

She adds, "Christmas is a wonderful celebration. It's an opportunity to show our love for God and our love for each other by sharing our bounty with someone less fortunate whether it's a gift, a toy, a phone call or a basket of food".

The singer has uploaded a holiday favorite "What Child Is This?" to her myspace page. The song was recorded with noted jazz pianist Willie Daniels.

"What Child Is This?" is a popular Christmas carol. The words to "What Child Is This?" were written by William Dix in 1865. The music is a traditional 16th century melody called Greensleeves.

The singer's myspace page has already received brisk activity from Myspace music devotees. Holiday music lovers from around the world are joining Sherrie Keys in celebrating the joyous holidays and in celebrating the birth of Jesus.

MusicDishTV: Insurgent Inc - "Atheistic Affidavit"

Inside a building, religious criminals made their dirty job. On top of the same building, orphans had enough and commit suicide. Two escaped: the clown and a shadow. www.insurgent-inc.com

"'Atheistic Affadavit' by Insurgent, Inc. is the basis for one of the more bizarre videos to come out recently. Religious criminals writing scriptures, orphans committing suicide, and a peculiar clown are just some of the characters in this video. While the song slowly builds up and hushed vocals come into play, these images start to develop. But it is not until the guitar kicks in that things get out of control and the video takes a more schizophrenic route. 'Atheistic Affadavit' is a breath of fresh air in today's often-stale music world and is definitely a must-see video, even if it may disturb some of its viewers." - MusicDishTV

MusicDishTV is more than an online video channel; it is the place to find out what's happening in the music world and hear brilliant new talent before they hit the radio airwaves. Artists & bands can submit their videos at http://tv.musicdish.net

Lively, warm, and friendly, this illustrated collection - plus a CD with Peter Yarrow, his daughter Bethany, and cellist Rufus Cappadocia - will bring families together to read and to sing.

"The first thing that comes to mind when listening to this fascinating folk duo -- vocalist Bethany Yarrow, daughter of folk legend Peter Yarrow, and veteran five-string cellist Rufus Cappadocia -- is a slightly darker and more gritty Tuck & Patti, mostly due to the sparse production and Yarrow's compelling, low husky tones. But while Tuck & Patti are, at the end of the day, true romantics, Bethany & Rufus edge deeper in the darker spaces between groove, jazz and a gritty approach to traditional folk. With Yarrow's voice shadowing Cappadocia's plucky melodic/rhythmic approach to the bass, the two blend influences from dusty American field recordings to modern jazz (the cheeky "Isn't That So"), from light folk-pop (the snappy title track, "900 Miles") to the griot traditions of Africa ("If I Had My Way (Samson & Delilah)"). Hypnotic pieces like "The Swallow" and "Asturiana" allow Cappadocia to venture into chamber music territory as he creates haunting, sustained notes under his partner's ethereal lead. While these songs may take a few listens to fully resonate, there's no denying that in a world where a lot of fluffy pop passes as folk, Bethany & Rufus, in taking a more original road, have come up with the real deal." -- Jonathan Widran

EasyFever: A Tribute To The Easybeats & Stevie Wright

Albert Music will celebrate the extraordinary musical legacy of The Easybeats, by releasing EasyFever: A Tribute to the Easybeats & Stevie Wright, a superb 2CD album in celebration of this ground-breaking group.

The band – Harry Vanda, George Young, Stevie Wright, Dick Diamonde and Gordon “Snowy” Fleet – formed in Sydney in 1964 and almost immediately ‘Easy Fever’ took Australia by storm and was soon to captivate audiences overseas. Their meteoric rise to stardom was due to releasing hit single after hit single, including classics such as Friday On My Mind, Wedding Ring, She’s So Fine and Good Times. Their success saw them consistently get mobbed at airports, chased down streets and tour internationally with the Rolling Stones.

A year in the making, EasyFever sees the ‘who’s who’ of contemporary Australian music come together to pay tribute to our most popular and successful band of the 60’s, and pay homage to the band who carved the stone in the Australian musical landscape. From Jimmy Barnes to Ben Lee, from The Veronicas to Grinspoon, The Living End to Old Man River, these artists have all recorded their unique interpretation of these enduring songs from The Easybeats and Stevie Wright’s majestic musical career. As well as this disc of today’s hottest local bands tipping their hats to The Easybeats, there is also a second disc of all the original tracks.

EasyFever also features a previously unreleased Stevie Wright song, Motherfigure… with a twist. Albert Music unearthed from their vaults a never before heard track, written by Vanda & Young, initially slated to be the first single from Stevie’s never-released third solo album in the late 70’s. Now 30 years later, it will see the light of day as an amazing duet with rock legend Jimmy Barnes.

MP3: "St. Louis" by Grinspoon

The Easybeats drifted apart in 1969, however it was by no means the end of their musical careers – with Vanda and Young returning to Australia in 1973 to become house producers for the new Albert Productions record label. They wrote for and/or produced many chart topping acts including Stevie Wright, Rose Tattoo and the Angels. They also wrote and produced several major hits for John Paul Young, including Love Is In The Air, not to mention producing the first 6 albums for AC/DC.

And the accolades kept coming. In 1998 Australia Post issued a She’s So Fine stamp, celebrating the early years of Australian Rock n Roll. In 2005 Friday On My Mind was voted by APRA as the most important Australian song written in the past 75 years. Vanda and Young are also the only songwriting team inducted into the Australian ARIA Hall of Fame.

And now in 2008, Australia’s hottest and most respected artists pay tribute to The Easybeats and Stevie Wright, with electrifying interpretations of their timeless songs. Be sure to catch EasyFever!
