Presented by Stacks FX, Towne Park Brewery, The Arts & Learning Conservatory, and Angeline Vineyards & Winery, with Genelec, Lewitt, and Applebox Network, the sold out event featured an In-n-Out food truck, open bar, and performances from Bearwulf, The Shakes, and Bird & The War. We had Stacks FX in Studio B, while Lewitt and Genelec shared the control room in Studio A. Our alcohol sponsors were a huge hit as well. We can’t thank Towne Park and Angeline Vineyards enough for providing their amazing products for the party."

Los Angeles Based Radio Station Is Looking For Music Artists To Join The Team

KGUP FM Emerge Radio is now accepting submissions to select 8 up-and-coming Music Artists to perform during Summer/Fall 2016 on stage during one of four live events this coming Summer and Fall in Top venues in Los Angeles. (The specific dates are contingent on each venue location and Artist availability. Dates and locations will be disclosed to the public at a later time).

During Spring 2016, KGUP FM will launch a Crowd Funding campaign on Kickstarter. Funds collected from the campaign will be used to help off-set the cost of:
- upgraded performance royalty license
- upgrade broadcasting equipment
- develop and maintain a native stand-alone mobile app for fans to download and listen to KGUP FM Emerge Radio exclusively
- pay for a trip to New York to meet with executives at SiriusXM radio to propose adding KGUP FM Emerge Radio as a channel to their existing line up to broadcast high quality Independent music and entertaining freeform programming

Other expenses include:
- video production to prepare a visual presentation geared for investors to invest in making KGUP FM Emerge Radio a terrestrial FM station.
- Compensation to artists: KGUP FM is committed to pay the 8 artists 15% of the net proceeds collected through the Kickstarter campaign as compensation for their live performance and promotional efforts.

Unlike its competitors, KGUP FM pledges to not take advantage of independent artists' willingness to play for free in exchange for "exposure" and will NOT require artists to pre-sale tickets. KGUP FM wants to help eliminate this practice and set an example of what ‘community' is by giving artists a share of what they collect.

Once the Artist/band signs into agreement and joins the KGUP FM Emerge Radio team, the promotional period throughout all of 2016 will begin. During the campaign period between April through May 2016, the Artist/Band is required to promote the KGUP FM Kickstarter campaign as if it is their own in order to earn the percentage split. Artists represented by PR agencies and Management company's must agree to the terms for this agreement to be valid. In turn, KGUP FM will promote all 8 artists throughout 2016 on all of KGUP FM's social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, and Reverbnation. In addition, Artist/Band's music will be heard on rotation at KGUP FM Emerge Radio.

All Artists will retain all copyrights, publishing rights, and royalties. KGUP FM simply wants to promote good artists in exchange for promoting a good radio station.

Submission Requirements:
- To share the KGUP FM vision and believe in what we're doing. The Artist/Band will reap the benefits of KGUP FM's success, which relies on its artists and listeners.
- Commit to helping KGUP FM promote its Kickstarter campaign coming this Spring.

The Features & Kerchief Play JJ's Bohemia On November 14th, 2015

Surpassing its initial D.I.Y. movement and becoming a more defined sound, Indie Rock has evolved. Moreover, music lovers around and between the typical big market outlets are rapidly advancing the support of live music nationwide. Following years of breakthrough acts with shoe- string budgets and unique social media strategy, an overall unyielding attitude has fueled the raw performance of the indie rock character we know today.

One of the country's many small clubs whose reputation serves the indie rock scene is JJ's Bo- hemia in Chattanooga, TN. They've hosted shows for nearly a decade featuring local unknowns and national touring acts alike, such as Alabama Shakes, Deer Hunter, Portugal the Man, Of Montreal and many others.

JJ's will continue its support of quality acts of all sizes by hosting The Features with 825 Records' artist Kerchief on Saturday, November 14th. Commercially known from their licensing placements for Ford and the Twilight Saga's soundtrack, The Features' extensive touring history since 1994 has landed them on major stages around the world. They are currently touring the na- tion promoting their upcoming album, which can be pre-ordered via Pledge Music now.

Kerchief, an indie rock trio fronted by former Vanity Theft guitarist Britt Hill has called JJ's a home for her new project since relocating to Chattanooga from Dayton, OH. After releasing her debut album, Machines And Animals, this past Summer, Kerchief has stirred up indie rock crit- ics and blogs with her unadulterated drive. Following a 20+ city summer tour, Kerchief's second single "Jack London" has garnered attention from the likes of OUT Magazine, Nooga.com, Ghet- toblaster, Curve Magazine, and Music Connection. All of whom have agreed Kerchief's Britt Hill has a well-bred attitude brimming with substance, both musically and lyrically.

Catch The Features with Kerchief at JJ's Bohemia in Chattanooga, TN. Saturday, November 14th. Doors open at 9 pm (All shows 21+).

Alt-Rock Trio 'The Reach' Reunites For 20th Anniversary Show, New Single (Denver, CO)

The band formed in 1994 in Dallas, TX, garnering major label interest and critical acclaim for the aforementioned "Closer" album. After disbanding in 1997 for all the usual reasons, drummer Tommy Watts and Craig Miller reunited briefly to record a second album, LIFT in 2003.

They are now reuniting again with bassist Dave Scott to release a new single (covers of MGMT's "Time to Pretend" and The Stranglers' "No Mercy"), along with a remastered version of LIFT, and a fully remixed and remastered 20th Anniversary Edition of Closer.

Although largely ignored in their hometown of Dallas, TX, the band has gained a passionate following over the years in Denver, CO, with the help of the owners of the Bull & Bush pub, who have spread the word about their unique sound. "The bottom line is, we were one of the better bands of the 90's, despite our lack of exposure," said Miller. "When people hear us, they agree."

The show will be this Halloween night, Saturday October 31st, and is sure to be a memorable one. "The guys at the Bull and Bush have kept our music alive, and we're pumped to bring our sound back to life in Denver," said bassist Scott. "We plan on bringing our best."

Release Dates:

Closer (20th Anniversary Edition) – available Oct. 20, 2015

Nightwish, the Finnish based High Priests and Priestess of Symphonic Metal brought their special brand of magic to the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on Friday, May 1, 2015. The lyrics from the song to the title track off their new CD Endless Forms Most Beautiful; "FROM THE GREAT DARK BETWEEN THE STARS" is a fitting description of the almost surreal night at the outdoor venue of the Greek Theater. Young Long Island Rock Bands Help Revitalize A Dying Scene

On May 3rd, 2015, the alternative/post-hardcore/pop/punk rock band Approaching Troy will be joined with musical performances by several Long Island rock bands to celebrate the release of AT's new EP, "Dear Sadie" at Evolution Sound Stage, 80D Dale Street, West Babylon, NY 11704 at 6:00pm. Tickets are $15 each, All ages. See EvolutionSoundStage.com for directions.

The music scene of Long Island has always had a long, rich musical history with many famous indie bands leaving their mark in the hearts and souls of American rock fans. The faint echoes of that revolution (predecessors Taking Back Sunday, Glassjaw, Dream Theater, Bayside and Brand New) can barely be heard these days around the suburban towns they were born in. However, if the reaction from their loyal fans at live shows and the excitement over their soon-to-be released EP, "Dear Sadie" (a testament to the band's potential as an Alternative/Pop/Punk/Post-Hardcore Rock leader) is any indication of a revitalization of that scene, then Approaching Troy is about to be on the cusp of a new revolution; ready to make their individual mark on the Island's rich history beginning with their release party on May 3rd. Fans won't want to miss this special night and concert as Approaching Troy is joined along with a host of young, up-n-coming, talented Long Island bands for a night not soon to be forgotten.

Currently planning a second northeast mini-tour like their successful one this past January which included shows in Providence, RI, Bedford, PA, West Haven, CT, Ithaca and Buffalo, NY and Boston, MA, Approaching Troy looks to capitalize on their local Long Island success and spread their music to other U.S. regions hungry for their Long Island melodic sound that features catchy, Pop hooks over simmering guitar riffs and a rebellious punk sensibility. For more info, follow them on Facebook & Twitter @ApproachingTroy or check out their website, ApproachingTroy.com and sample some of their music at reverbnation.com. This year, Berklee has added a second stage for acoustic sets. Students Rachael Wolff, Lady Rogo, and Jacob George, and alumnus Oliver Monaco will perform in between bands. They also play on Saturday, March 21, at the Berklee Guitar and Songwriting Showcase [2:00 pm, St. David's Bethel Hall].

Berklee's SXSW Party: Boston and Beyond is all ages and open to SXSW badge holders. The public can email sxswrsvp@berklee.edu to attend free of charge.

Artists in order of appearance:

Joy Daniels is a Los Angeles-based alumna singer-songwriter and producer who fuses innovative hip-hop and passionate vocals to lyrics and music that explore the complexities of the human spirit. Daniels has released albums including Electric Soul Music and Joy After the Rain, and has performed recently with Stevie Wonder, Sam Smith, and Bastille in concert and TV appearances on The Ellen Degeneres Show, The American Music Awards, and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Avers, from Richmond, VA, are psychedelic pop, blistering garage rock, and fuzzed-out shoegaze all in one. With their amps cranked high and their voices doused in reverb, Avers brew a spacey swirl. The group formed with Head and the Heart's Tyler Williams on drums and James Mason, James Lloyd Hodges, alumna Alexandra Spalding, Adrian Olsen, and Charlie Glenn swapping between bass, guitar and keyboard. Their debut, Empty Light, came out in 2014.

Hooka Hey, from Austin, TX, plays heavy grooves steeped in the blues. Its smoky, sludgy sound is dense and charged like an approaching rainstorm. The band is composed of Alex Kane (bass), Hugo de Saint Quentin (guitar), Jesse Houghton (guitar), and alumnus Ethan Yeager (drums). KUTX's Austin Music Minute said of Hooka Hey, "There's a reverence here for the kind of serious rockin' out that leaves you sweaty, grimy and wanting more."

O Conqueror was formed in 2012 by songwriter Dustin Doering (vocals) in Austin, Texas. It has since become a collective endeavor consisting of Justin Green (guitar), Mike Fisher (bass, backing vocals), Pedro Corsetti (drums), and alumnus Alex Hartley (keyboard). The group is preparing to release its second album, on which it promises a melodic journey of catchy brooding hooks folded into ambient folk with elements of delta blues and psychedelic western.

Grey Season (HRR) perform five-part harmony, blues-rooted guitar solos between wholehearted lyricism, and memorable melodies driven by bouzoukis and banjos. Benny Grotto (Dresden Dolls) and Grammy–winner Justin Guip produced its debut album at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY. The group is composed of Ian Jones (bass, vocals); alumni Jon Mills (guitar, vocals, Irish bouzouki) and Matt Knelman (guitar, vocals); and students Chris Bloniarz (banjo, piano, mandolin, vocals), and Ben Burns (drums, vocals). Grey Season appears on HRR's Dorm Sessions 10. Listen at SoundCloud.com/HeavyRotationRecords.

The Ballroom Thieves – Devin Mauch (percussion), alumna Calin Peters (cello), and Martin Earley (guitar) – blend folk conventions with modern hymnals, and delta blues with rich harmonies, exploring the basic constructions of pop music while also rejecting its restrictions. Supporting their debut, A Wolf in the Doorway, The Ballroom Thieves will open the next Boston Calling Festival featuring Pixies, My Morning Jacket, and St. Vincent.

Night Lights (HRR) brings together students and alumni with a world of indie, rock, and soul influences, striking a balance between profound lyrics, hooky melodies, and danceable music. Yusuke Sato's intricate riffs, Drew Story's warped soundscapes, Jeff Kinsey's melodic bass, Dag Hanken's colorful rhythms, and Mau Jiminez's captivating guitar and other-worldly voice effects combine for an audio adventure. Night Lights appeared on HRR's Dorm Sessions 9. The band's forthcoming EP was produced by Griffin Rodriguez (Beirut, Modest Mouse).

Radclyffe Hall – alumni Dhy Berry (keys/vocals), Jaqui Rae Stewart (keys/vocals), and Carl Harkness (drums), and student Sean Camargo (drums) – began as an experiment in analog and digital production and coalesced around founder Berry's groove-heavy compositions and dance-pop aesthetics. In their recordings and live shows, Radclyffe Hall has solidified an indelible sonic signature of pulsating live and programmed beats, ethereal vocals, and fuzzy bass lines.

Yellerkin is a rising indie duo from Brooklyn comprised of Adrian Galvin and alumnus Luca Buccellati, childhood friends who have known each other for over 20 years. Originally from the woods of Katonah, NY, they reunited after college, helping one another to yell their stories of love and family. Yellerkin released their debut self-titled EP in 2014, which features the single "Solar Laws." The duo recently opened up for Dr. Dog and is preparing to release new music.

St. Nothing is a string-driven electropop group consisting of Marco Lawrence (singer-songwriter, producer), Sophia Carreras (guitar), Meredith Nero (viola), Jenna Calabro (cello) and alumnus Felix Nicholson (drums). In the past year, the group was nominated for two Boston Music Awards, opened the Boston Calling Music Festival, and performed with artists like Juana Molina, Young Galaxy, Alpine, and Freezepop. The group is working on its debut album.

The Yardbirds Official Line Up For Their 2015 Spring Tour Should Make New Jersey Proud

Belvidere, NJ - We all have heard of The Yardbirds? Even a Dutch girl that was craziest by ABBA growing up in the Netherlands has heard of the UK band The Yardbirds. Fifty years after their first big hit 'For Your Love' the band is going strong. And they are still the group which included three of the greatest guitarist of all time Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, with Beck and Page as members at the same time for a little while.

Bongo Boy Records recording band The Satisfactors' bass player KENNY AARONSON will be joining the 2015 Spring Tour. In 1988 Kenny was named Bassist of the year by Rolling Stone.... Aaronson was the bassist in the house band for the MTV Guitar Greats Show where along with Dave Edmunds, Chuck Leavell and Michael Shrieve, he backed up artists such as Steve Cropper, Brian Setzer, Dickie Betts, Link Wray, Neal Schon, Johnny Winter, Lita Ford, Tony Iommi and Dave Gilmour. Kenny also auditioned for the Rolling Stones in... 1994.

Kenny Aaronson has toured and recorded with a variety of artists including Billy Idol, Billy Squier, Foghat, Brian Setzer, Dave Edmunds, HSAS (Sammy Hagar, Neil Schon, Kenny Aaronson, Michael Shrieve), Mick Taylor, Graham Parker, Hall and Oates, Edgar Winter, Robert Gordon (musician), Leslie West Band, Rick Derringer and Joan Jett among others. Kenny was a regular member of Jett's backing group the Blackhearts from 1991 to 1995. Aaronson was one of the few Blackheart band members to co-write a track with Jett. The song, "World Of Denial", was recorded for the 1994 album "Pure and Simple" but was not released in the U.S. until 2001's Fit To Be Tied- Great Hits by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts".

Kenny's most recent project includes The Satisfactors a Rock n' Roll band that released their first debut album last October and is receiving great reviews and radio play.

So here you have it The Yardbirds are coming back to the US, and they are ready to rock n roll the East Coast this April. JIM McCARTY is the founding member and drummer and he is bringing to us a real treat. The Yardbirds' first guitarist, TOP TOPHAM will be joining them! Before Clapton joined the band Top Topham was first guitarist of The Yardbirds. He had to leave because as some parent even today will agree with joining a band is not a great career choice. As an art student Top continued with his studies. From the same secondary school and another art student entered the band, Eric Clapton, and from there you the story. Today Top is excited to play the blues and leave his paintbrush at home.

Also joining on this tour is another familiar talent for fans here in the Tri-State area MYKE SCAVONE (singer, Ram Jam & The Doughboys) will be joining them on blues harp, vocals and percussion. More recently Myke Scavone is known for his talent with the legendary 60's garage band from Plainfield NJ The Doughboys as lead singer/songwriter and harp player. Their hit "Black Sheep" and totaling 7 Coolest Songs In The World on the Little Stevie Van Zandt Underground Garage on Sirius/XM radio are 60's music fans favorites. Myke also played the harmonica on MARK LINDSAY former lead singer of Paul Revere and The Raiders' latest Rock n' Roll album "Life Out Loud" which was released on Bongo Boy Records in 2013.

Along with lead guitarist and singer JOHN IDAN who was on The Yardbirds' critically acclaimed 2003 album, Birdland this line is perfect of talent that will rock the stages.

The Yardbirds 2015 spring U.S. tour dates:
April 3 - Norfolk, Conn., Infinity Hall
April 4 - Uncasville, Conn., Mohegan Sun Casino
April 6 - New York, N.Y., BB King Blues Club & Grill
April 9 - Bethlehem, PA - Musikfest Cafe
April 10 - Beverley, Mass., Lancom Theatre
April 11 - Plymouth, N.H., Flying Monkey
April 12 - Newton, N.J., Newton Theatre

JIM McCARTY is a textbook on rock history unto himself. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member co-founded The Yardbirds in London in 1963 with singer KEITH RELF, rhythm guitarist CHRIS DREJA, bassist PAUL SAMWELL-SMITH and lead guitarist TOP TOPHAM. They first called themselves the Metropolitan Blues Quartet and then the Blue-Sounds before settling on The Yardbirds as a tribute to jazz sax legend CHARLIE PARKER, and the hobos who hung around the London train yards waiting to hop a freight. Top left and was replaced by ERIC CLAPTON. The band's first album "Five Live Yardbirds" was recorded at London's Marquee Club and really captured the group's manic live sound. After a few pop singles, Clapton split and JEFF BECK came aboard. Then JIMMY PAGE joined up, first as a bass player, then took over lead guitar when Jeff left to start a solo career. When the entire rest of the group quit in 1968, Page got the rights to the band name, and soon after formed LED ZEPPELIN.

When The Yardbirds first came to America, they were shocked that the kids had never heard of the American blues and R&B artists that were worshipped in the UK. But, thanks to The Yardbirds' versions of BO DIDDLEY's "I'm A Man," HOWLIN' WOLF's "Smokestack Lightning" and CHUCK BERRY's "Too Much Monkey Business," those original artists finally got airplay on white radio in the U.S.A.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Yardbirds in 1985, Jim hooked up with Chris Dreja and Paul Samwell-Smith for a pair of shows at London's Marquee Club where the band recorded its debut album. They had such a good time that they put together a new band, BOX OF FROGS and recorded two albums under the name with some help from Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck.

And, here we are today with Jim and The Yardbirds back again. This lineup is very exciting, especially with Top Topham back in the group after playing a few gigs last year with a different edition of the band. The Yardbirds are ready to hit the road, and tour dates will be announced soon.

M.C. Records To Release "Rise And Fall" From Dayna Kurtz On March 31

http://mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=180576

M.C. Records is proud to announce they'll be releasing "Rise and Fall" by genre outlaw Dayna Kurtz on March 31. This marks the 2nd recording that Dayna and M.C. Records have released together. In 2013 M.C. Records issued her R&B recording, Secret Canon Vol. 2 to critical acclaim.

Rise and Fall, is Dayna's first album of originals in 4 years. Says Kurtz, "This album is the most like (debut) Postcards From Downtown in that it covers such a long span of collected original material. Rise and Fall covers these last few years of my life and they were pretty heavy years; My father died, my marriage ended. I moved to New Orleans. I had a couple years of wild oat-sowing and then found a grand new love. There’s been a lot to think about, to write about.”

With roots in New Jersey, a lengthy New York City past, and her time now divided between her family’s cabin on a river in Vermont, and a home on another river in New Orleans, she is an entirely American creature -yet her greatest successes and most regular touring have happened in in theaters and rock clubs in European cities such as Barcelona and Amsterdam.

She had a top 10 hit song in the Netherlands with the gorgeous and beguiling, "Love Gets in the Way." She has toured with Richard Thompson, Elvis Costello, Richie Havens, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Dr. John, Rufus Wainright and Mavis Staples. She’s recorded a duet with Norah Jones, and both Ms. Jones and Bonnie Raitt have sung her praises in interviews. She has appeared at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, The Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival, The Celebrate Brooklyn Festival, Mountain Stage, Austin City Limits Festival and World Café.

"Rich as the darkest Godiva chocolate, the voice gets into your bones until you can barely sleep at night and can’t get through the day without it." – Paste

"Kurtz's voice is a potent thing. She projected that voice like a stage actress; the occasional glint of grit made it all the richer."
Keith Spera, Times-Picayune (Jazzfest 2012 review)

"When Kurtz sings, one of two things typically happens. Either she lets out a deep, husky croon that seems to bubble up from her toes, or she unleashes a full-throttle roar that’s more inviting than imposing…There’s no logical reason why Dayna Kurtz is not a full blown star." - James Reed, Boston Globe
