Orange County recording studios and soundstage, Hybrid Studios will be sponsoring the 2018 Unsigned Only music competition. The same team that put together the distinguished International Songwriting Competition (ISC), Unsigned Only brings an innovative and unique spin to music competitions. High-level industry artists and executives judge the competition aimed at unsigned artists and bands. Notable 2017 judges and mentors included The Killers, O.A.R., Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Grouplove, Pete Ganbarg (Executive VP/Head of A&R, Atlantic Records), and Taylor Lindsey (Sr. Director, A&R, Sony Music Nashville) to name a few.

"Unsigned Only is a great competition that focuses on undiscovered talent," said Hybrid Studios Co-founder Billy Klein, "It's exciting working with competition winners because there's always so much obvious talent. We know the 2018 winners are going to be fantastic artists, and we can't wait to hear what they bring to the studio."

The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded $20,000 in cash (plus additional prizes) and one-on-one mentoring by a world-class group of record company executives. First and second place winners will also be selected across thirteen categories, and as part of the prize packages, the Grand Prize and Triple Play special promotion winners will both be awarded with studio time to be used at Hybrid Studios.

BOTA - 'Special' Debut Single Release

Emerging Pop/dance singer and songwriter BOTA is about to premiere her brand new and debut single 'Special'. The music video, which was directed by an award-winning music director Lukasz Pytlik, is going to be out in the beginning of December on her Official VEVO Channel.

Produced by Nick Bitzenis, 'Special' has an upbeat pop feel; accompanied by heavy and funky horn melodies and definitive and dynamic piano parts. Lyrically, it's the instant motivational wave that draws you in. 'Being brave means you are special', Bota sings during the chorus, in other words she says that she found her confidence and strength when she started to do what she loves and came out from her comfort zone.

Fuggly Muglets To Release Self-Titled EP

The 'Fuggly Muglets' are set to release their long awaited new EP February 10, 2018.

Fuggly Muglets is the brainchild of California based songwriter Jacob Barber and Australian producer/musician Ben Watts.

The EP is a testament to Barbers unique songwriting ability and Watts' extensive production skills tying it all together.

A mix of rock, rap and pounding industrial beats the music is a purposeful, refreshing change from the formulaic music delivered by the mainstream, a source of great pride for Watts and Barber.

Watts, a rocker at heart honed his chops playing along to classic albums of the 70's and 80's. More recently his years have been spent as a musician and producer of country music where he can be heard as a member of other acts such as Terra Bella, Dustin Huff, Morgan Lynsey and Kelby Costner. For this EP, Watts returned to his roots to put down the intricate layering of guitars,bass and percussion that keep the listener intrigued.

With a outward presence and energy, Barbers tight rhythmic lines, intriguing melody's and soaring harmonies define the originality of the 'Fuggly Muglets'. Barbers' been entrenched in the California music scene for sometime but see's this collaboration as the embodiment of his passion in music.

To nail the sonics of the record Watts called in good friend and Grammy winning engineer Mark Pinske to collaborate on the final mixes. Pinske is best known for his work with Frank Zappa, Steve Vai and many others.

Michael Walker The Original 'Californeck'

On the heels of his rocking single 'Ain't These Guns' California country artist and singer songwriter Michael Walker has finished production on his new album 'Californeck' with a planned early 2018 release date.

Although recorded in Nashville with some of the best musicians available, Walker describes the album as 'Anti-Nashville' A blend of Southern rock, blues and traditional country with which he penned all the songs.

The production of the album was headed up by Australian producer Ben Watts who has production credits with other Nashville artists such as Kelby Costner, Terra Bella, Morgan Lynsey and Dustin Huff.

Watts and Rudy Parris star of season 3, leant their thundering guitars to the single 'Ain't Takin' These Guns' which is available for purchase at all good music stores.

Walker is gearing up for the album release and plans to hit the road in 2018.

Larry Cordle Receives Grammy Nomination for Best Roots Gospel Album

As announced by The Recording Academy this morning, Kentucky Music Hall of Famer LARRY CORDLE has received a Grammy Nomination for BEST ROOTS GOSPEL ALBUM for Give Me Jesus.

Cordle is now a three-time Grammy nominee, a multi IBMA award winner and one of Nashville's most accomplished Singer-Songwriters. He has penned mega hits such as "Murder on Music Row" and "Highway 40 Blues." His songs have been recorded by artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Diamond Rio, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins and Reba who lands in the same Best Roots Gospel Album category with him.

Cordle, AKA The Mighty Cord, rounded up some of his closest friends to bring the album to life. He is joined by Carl Jackson, Jerry Salley, Val Storey, Don Rigsby, Bradley Walker, Lethal Jackson Angie La Primm and Gail Mayes on vocals. Cord had to temporarily stop working on the album while he underwent chemo for his leukemia which is now in remission, but eventually released the album that he calls "one of his favorite albums to date."

"This album was a true labor of love for me. I am humbled to say the least and thankful to those members who voted for Give Me Jesus. It's an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as the other great nominees. I want to dedicate this nomination to my friend Lethal Jackson who passed away November 25th before the nomination was announced. His lead vocal performance on 'It's A Lonesome Road' was his last performance on this earth. This one is for you Mr. Lethal. Thank you everyone and Praise Jesus Christ," said Cord.

Guitar Player Magazine has premiered folky singer/songwriter Katie Garibaldi's new music video "Star in the East." The video was made by claymation and stop motion artist Marc Morgan, which pays homage to the classic Christmas movies of the '60s that we all know and love.

As told to GuitarPlayer.com, Garibaldi says, "'Star in the East' is a song I wrote about the biblical story of the three kings traveling by the light of the star that's guiding them to Bethlehem to the newborn Jesus. The lyrics are written from the perspective of the three kings and because of it's storytelling style, I was envisioning a video that was a throwback to the old school claymation/stop motion children's Christmas movies. I couldn't get the idea out of my head and I was so lucky and excited to find Mac Morgan by discovering some of his amazing work online. He happily took on the project and I love the personality he put into the characters and all the special details. He blew my expectations away!"

Unsigned Brazenflow has landed... and he's coming to mix it up in the crazy world of Hip Hop and R'n'B with his first release 'Bell Biv Devoe'. This fun tune has a subtle message entwined within the trippy and wavey melody which on its own can enrich anyone's day.

Brazenflow's urban tone compliments wonderfully as he moves us with a message to do more, and speak less. A lesson most of could do with taking heed of. He bases his song around the history of 90's R'n'B group 'Bell Biv Devoe' who found that plans they had were hijacked by others in the music industry and they learnt that if they hadn't talked so much that others wouldn't have been able gain an advantage over them.

Inspired as well by more modern artists including 2Pac, Kanye West and Dr Dre; Brazenflow started to combine introspective lyrics with a wide ranging variety of melodies producing an altogether unique sound. This developed during his school years in North London as he was producing more and more music, as well as exploring the UK Grime scene to its full. Joining a music group in Camden, Brazenflow began to collaborate with emerging talent, and after a few years in a music apprenticeship programme he was able to start releasing his music. Respect!
