19 Hundred - debut single 'Oh Boy' and first solo project for DAZE (Mausi)

'Oh Boy'is a boss dance track that will make you want to throw some shapes deep in to the night before you end up at Super Kebab in Dalston, sweaty, alone and knee deep in doner meat...' (DAZE aka Daisy Finetto, Mausi)

New Single: 19Hundred feat DAZE 'Oh Boy' Release Date: 30th October 2015
Label: Soundplate Records
Images and packshot:

"19Hundred start things off big with this hot debut track!" (Salacious Sound)

"The song is brilliant - 'Oh Boy' sounds like a hark back to early-2000s UKG, with some added bass drops thrown in for 2015-measure. Finetto's vocals sound absolutely gorgeous…" (Stagedoor FM)

"Gorgeous Debut, deep and sensual…" (Blushing Panda)

'Song of the Week' (Secret Scout)

"Ridiculously catchy" (Music News)

This deep, dark studio project crept onto Soundcloud last month with nothing but an iconic black and white image and a bootleg remix of Adele's 'Set Fire to the Rain'.

The anonymous London based duo are reluctant to give away anything which alludes to their identities: "The music industry is fucked up. Everything is disposable. We want to bring back the wonder and mystery to music..."

After picking up tens of thousands of plays in just a few weeks, Soundplate Records can finally reveal their debut original material.

The infectious, bass-lead track, 'Oh Boy', sees duo 19Hundred (styled XIX online) introduce the soulful vocals of DAZE (Daisy Finetto). This is the first release in the solo endeavour for the Italian born 24 year old who gained notoriety as the lead singer of Mausi.

'Oh Boy' received more than 30k plays since it went live on Soundcloud. And there's a string of singles to follow in the coming months.

19hundred is named after the main character (played by Tim Roth) of 1998 film 'The Legend of 1900'. The film is about the world's best piano player who is born and raised on a transatlantic ocean liner in the early 20th century. He refuses to ever leave or get off, and spends his entire life on the ship he was born. If you wanted to hear him play you had to go to him.

Andy Pickford - the new CD Vanguard, Vol. 1

'Vanguard 1' is the first major solo release by Andy Pickford since 2003 and a welcome return for the enigmatic UK synth maestro. As one of the most popular of the 1990's UK 'new wave' of electronic music exponents, Andy Pickford's music is characterised by strong rhythms and sequences, and above all, melodies and themes to die for!

To state that this album is a 'stunning return' would be a huge understatement - 'Vanguard 1' is mind blowing - a selection of 11 dynamic and expertly constructed, interlinked tracks that power into the senses like a juggernaut. Full of ideas and creativity, it's utterly compelling!

As you'd expect the music is very melodic, with one memorable theme after the other demanding 'repeat play'. Sequences and rhythms are tight, imaginative and contemporary, yet they don't lose sight of Andy Pickford's EM roots, even when flirting with the chill and electronica style vocal tracks that permeate this extraordinary album.

'Vanguard 1' is the first in a trilogy of releases planned on AD Music - with '2' and '3' already recorded and awaiting release in the near future. The music featured on 'Vanguard 1' is beautifully produced and shows a maturity and expertise that will appeal to his existing fans and is sure to garner praise from the wider electronica/chill market.

Out Magazine & 825 Records Premiere New Kerchief Music Video & Single

While Kerchief's LP Machines and Animals bears no title track, the sophomore single "Jack London" lends a fitting summary of the entire 11-song debut. Formerly of the indie band Vanity Theft, Britt Hill cuts through with the poetically relatable and compelling edge that has grabbed the attention of critics and fans alike since the album's mid-summer release.

A dynamic composition tensely contained by its recurrent low-end hypnosis with a cumulating burst from a boundless wall of sound set the perfect tone, tying an underlying story of a creative person's journey from angst to ease. Distinguished drum patterns contributed by producer Matty Amendola, alongside Hill's experimental melodic guitar arrangements, will have audiophiles hitting the repeat button while satisfying the first-time listener with its engaging hook.

The single, joined by its accompanying music video directed by Andy Strohl, premieres on OUT Maga- zine’s website today, with a broadcast debut on THECOOLTV network to follow. Kerchief's sound, pre- viously characterized as "fortified by straightforward lyrics that still leave spaces for a listener’s imagina- tion" (by June Tunes Digest), intuited the intention behind the cinematically produced video. Unexpected twists and turns with unprecedented artful attention won't be allowed to go unnoticed.

"Jack London", slated as a firm follow-up to Kerchief’s 20 city summer tour, is sure to serve the indie rock culture of discovery and whet the appetite of any true music connoisseur.

Noting the 90s era as a major influence, The Voices of Terror’s writing and vocal skills are very much inspired by the Hard Rock, Metal and Hip-Hop scene of that period. Give this a spin, the rest will be history!

Donna Ulisse releases 9th album for Hadley Music Group

"Black train, black train … I ain't staying where I'm at," sings Donna Ulisse on the spirited opening track to Hard Cry Moon, her ninth album on the Hadley Music Group label. While the lyric addresses a woman's determination to move on from a failed relationship, Ulisse could be expressing her desire to follow her muse where it takes her. And this time around, it's back to (mostly) original material.

After a brief detour with 2013's Showin' My Roots, which consisted mainly of classic country covers that had influenced her, the four-time IBMA songwriter of the year nominee (with songs recorded by Del McCoury, Doyle Lawson, Claire Lynch and more) is back with another superb collection of originals that demonstrate her gift for believable narrative, finely wrought detail and genuine emotion. When she wraps her warm, rich voice around these songs, you know they're real to her.

Ulisse is a writer on 11 of the 12 songs, penning four on her own. Fans will recognize regular co-writers Marc Rossi, with four songs here; Rick Stanley, her husband and touring band member (and cousin of Carter and Ralph); and the award-winning Jerry Salley.

The first single, "It Could Have Been The Mandolin," recalls a blissful evening in a blossoming relationship. Ulisse did a spoof video to promote the single which is shown below. Young love is also at the forefront of "We're Gonna Find A Preacher," while the feisty "Ain't That A Pity" depicts the downside of love.

Family stories have always been a key part of Ulisse's music, and here she offers two loving tributes. "Workin' On The C & O" is a poor man's railroad tale about her maternal grandfather, who began his career as a "gandy dancer." "Papa's Garden" honors her grandfather on her dad's side, an Italian immigrant who found great joy in growing things. She lovingly dedicates the whole album to these two grandparents who made such an impression on her.

In the spine-tingling "The River's Runnin' Free," the singer stumbles upon an acquaintance in the act of some eerily suspicious behavior by the water, demands: "Are you here to lay some kind of trouble in the ground, or are you here digging trouble up?" At the other end of the emotional spectrum is "Just As Long As We're Together," a love-conquers-all promise. And the gorgeously mournful title track is the type of acoustic traditional country ballad that no one can deliver like Ulisse.

The sole cover is the country classic "Whispering Pines," a song Ulisse has long loved, and one originally made famous by Johnny Horton, her husband's all-time favorite male vocalist. Ulisse sings the chestnut like one of her own, her voice tenderly pleading for the return of her baby.

The album closes with the lullaby-like "I'll Sleep In Peace At Night" which includes Fayssoux McLean on harmony, one of Ulisse‘s vocal idols from the time she first heard her singing harmony on the early Emmylou Harris records.

Ulisse handed the production reins to six-time IBMA guitarist of the year Bryan Sutton (Hot Rize, Ricky Skaggs, Harry Connick Jr.), who also was at the board for Showin' My Roots. As on previous albums, Ulisse is surrounded by some of the top pickers in bluegrass — which is to say some of the best musicians on the planet: Casey Campbell, a member of Sutton's touring band, on mandolin; Dennis Crouch (June Carter Cash, Emmylou Harris, Diana Krall, Steve Earle) on upright bass. Stuart Duncan (Alison Krauss; James Taylor, the Goat Rodeo Sessions album with Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer) on fiddle. Scott Vestal (Dolly Parton, Doyle Lawson, Sam Bush) on banjo. Brent Truitt of the SteelDrivers engineered and mixed.

With Hard Cry Moon, Donna Ulisse offers more proof that, whether she is interpreting the work of others or her own compositions, she has earned her spot as one of bluegrass music's most captivating artists.

The album is available at Amazon, iTunes, CDBaby, County Sales and many other online stores.
