D'Chrome Foster Announces Official Video For "JANUARY", Launches #LoveMyBounce Campaign

D'Chrome Foster is an artist who recognizes and respects a woman's power and her creative freedom to express herself without bounds. This week, he has released the official video for his single JANUARY and launched #LoveMyBounce, a campaign to empower women everywhere: www.LoveMyBounce.com

Following up his success with his videos for CYANIDE and MANHOOD, D'Chrome Foster continues to be a force for positive energy, delivering a song and video that aims to spark debate and inspire new thought. Directed by Mark Cirnigliaro, the JANUARY music video is about doing what you want with your body and features women from all walks of life who truly show what it means to be free.

"I wanted to juxtapose something sensual with something specific and conscious," says D'Chrome Foster. "The #LoveMyBounce movement is about standing up against male gaze. Doing what feels right to you as an individual is the first step towards empowerment, morality and self-respect."

Furthering the message, D'Chrome Foster is introducing the #LoveMyBounce contest on www.LoveMyBounce.com, asking listeners to show the world their bounce for a chance to win a trip to his album release party in New York City this spring. To enter the contest, fans should submit a video or post of themselves loving their bounce to D'Chrome Foster's track JANUARY, share it on Twitter, Instagram or Vine tagged with @dchromefoster and hashtag #LoveMyBounce and #JANUARY.

Gender inequality pervades all areas of our society, including, and especially, in the area of sexual expression and relationships. D'Chrome Foster and STK MKT Entertainment are dedicated to supporting a woman's control over her own body, without stigmatization or oppression. "I don't have the inclination to make music that relies on stereotypes, tropes; I make music to spark debate and inspire new thought!" says Foster.

ABOUT D'CHROME FOSTER:

D'Chrome Foster Is A Brooklyn-Bred Hip Hop Artist Who Fights To Be A Force For Positive Energy. As the son of Caribbean parents D'Chrome Foster was immersed in music at an early age. Growing up in his Flatbush, Brooklyn home, he was surrounded by the soulful sounds from 8 tracks and LP's from every genre of music. This rich sonic environment lead to him writing his first song at the age of three. Perfecting his craft through his teenage years, he decided to start recording his catalog of songs when he was nineteen.

D'Chrome Foster strives to be a force for positive energy, using his music as his weapon. In August of 2014 D'Chrome released his single, MANHOOD, a track that showcases the struggles between a man and his woman. Following the release of MANHOOD, D'Chrome released CYANIDE in Dec of 2014. Both tracks and their accompanying videos tell varied and compelling stories of today's social issues.

2015 has started out for D'Chrome just as quickly as 2014 ended. He doesn't plan to slow down anytime soon.

Jazz Trombonist/Arranger Earl McIntyre Releases New CD, Brass Carnival & Tribute! Via Live Premiere Concert

Award winning Jazz Trombonist/ Arranger Earl McIntyre is known for his rich tones, incredible brass arrangements and diverse repertoire making him a “go to” for performances and arrangements ranging from classical to jazz. His new release, Brass Carnival & Tribute!, showcases many of those attributes and more in this groove eclectic set.

Born in Brooklyn N.Y. Earl received his very first musical training from his father, Eldon McIntyre, Sr. (a very gifted amateur musician). His father was passionate about music and saw to it that Earl and his brothers became proficient at playing brass instruments thus starting Earl’s journey into music. While attending the High School of Music & Art, he studied trombone with trombone greats such as John Clark, Jack Jeffers, Alan Raph and Benny Powell. It was during this period that he also developed relationships with composer William S. Fischer and tubaist Howard Johnson. He then when on to study Bass Trombone at Mannes College of Music with Simone Karasick and tuba with Thompson Hanks. As Earl’s thirst for knowledge of music grew, he started studying music arrangement with Slide Hampton and Bob Brookmeyer, as well as, studied privately with the famous brass teacher Carmine Caruso.

Soon after his studies, McIntyre’s musical journey flourished as he began playing with the likes of Gil Evans, the Apollo stage band, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Taj Mahal, Lester Bowie, The Band, Stevie Wonder, McCoy Tyner, Carla Bley, George Russell, Lou Rawls, Jeffrey Osborne, Deniece Williams, the Count Basie Orchestra, the Ellington Orchestra, the Thad Jones -Mel Lewis Orchestra (with whom he was associated for over 20 years) Slide Hampton, George Gruntz, the Mingus Big Band, Cecil Taylor, David Amram and the list goes on.

While credited for Trombone, Tuba and Arranger on countless award winning albums, Brass Carnival & Tribute!, will be Earl McIntyre’s very first offering of his own. When asked about his influences he responded “They say as an artist you spend your career trying to get back to your roots and I guess that's true in my case. The Tribute! band allows me to honor great musicians and family members in my own way. By dedicating and/or naming compositions after these people I hope to ignite the occasional spark of interest in them. Perhaps it's the influence of another hero/employer as well. Charles Mingus did this often and so did Thelonious Monk. The other ensemble, Brass Carnival does the same sort of thing with musical genres but as a larger ensemble.” says McIntyre.

Brass Carnival has instrumentation similar to a Salvation Army brass band coupled with Latin percussion. The influence of various kinds of vibrant carnival music colorfully painted on a Jazz canvas. Tribute! is a smaller group that pays tribute to Earl’s many influences such as Soca, R&B, Funk and various other grooves.

Brass Carnival & Tribute! will be available via MySpace, CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and more. Join Earl McIntyre on Saturday, March 9th, for his Brass Carnival & Tribute! CD release extravaganza. The festivities will begin at 7:30pm at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, 58 Seventh Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. Admission $10

Giovannie Pierre-Louise's Inspirational Song "Reaching For The Stars"

The new single and video, "Reaching For The Stars", from Giovannie Pierre-Louise, known professionally as Gio, is a slow tempo number that is beautifully inspirational, encouraging, and reaches its goal of being serene, with soft but lyrically strong vocals connecting well with listeners. Fans of any music genre will be easily able to get into this song, because it has a style that simply defies categorization. In the video, Gio is sitting on a beautiful cloud, singing and reaching for her star. If she keeps producing songs like this, it's definitely not far out of reach.

One's inspiration doesn't always have to come from somewhere else; if you don't look too far you'll see it within. From Gio, "as a child I always imagined that I was in this land of make believe, with this ever lasting beauty and always used this hairbrush as my microphone. I looked up to the ceiling as if it was beautiful stars while I was singing in my own imaginary world." That was what inspired her to do this song and video, the scene just as she imagined, by herself in the snow.

New Solo Recording Artist Jey Gibbs Wants To "Touch Yo Body" With Debut Single Release

When Jey Gibbs stepped foot on the stage of the legendary "Showtime at the Apollo," and opened his mouth, he was only 13, but he knew destiny was calling out to him. Singing since the age of four, the young artist was blessed with a gift that made the adults around him take note. So much so that even as a child he assisted his mom when she gave vocal lessons to the choir at his home church.

Today, the 24-year is cementing his talent with his debut independent single and video release of "Touch Yo Body." If "Showtime at the Apollo" was still taking auditions, its doubtful he would be boo'ed from the stage! Gibbs has a voice and style that naturally causes women to sway and swoon. With a dash of hip hop bravado; coupled with smooth R&B fever, Gibb's vocal approach is seasoned with special flavor. He gracefully exudes a lustful timbre, tempered with a vintage charm, that he calls "Da E-ffect." A gifted songwriter as well, with "Touch Yo Body," Gibbs seduces the ear while he cradles the heart with lyrics that unwind any semblance of resistance. Gibb's B-side release, "Shoulda Coulda Woulda," which he also composed, continues the lyrical seduction with an up tempo beat that bangs steady.

"I am happy to be able to finally throw my hat in the ring," reveals Gibbs. "It's taken a lot of hard word and sacrifice to bring my music to the table and I could not have done it alone. I am extremely grateful to the team I have around me. With these two songs, I'm singing to the women and I think with one listen, they will get the message loud and clear. I am an artist who is here for them." A Charleston, SC native, currently residing in Brooklyn, NY, Gibbs is a recent graduate of Long Island University with a bachelors in Media Arts. He hosts his own campus radio show, "Business with Jay."

Both "Touch Yo Body" and "Shoulda Coulda Woulda" were mixed and recorded at Harlem's popular Stadium Red Studios. When not singing and recording, Gibbs supplements his craft by working at La Guardia Airport as a Transportation Security Officer. But by the sound of his first solo offerings, that won't be for long.

Groove with Jey Gibbs at www.JeyGibbs.com and let him "Touch Yo Body" at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/touch-yo-body-single/id560191181. View the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dja84796lfM&feature=plcp.

New Kid On The Block Unites Hip-Hop & Rock With A Fresh Twist

Brooklyn, NY, November 17, 2009 - Brooklyn recording sensation LaKid Wise is setting a new standard for the musical genre we call "Hip-Rock", the fusion of rhythmic and poetic rap with hard, edgy and guitar-filled rock. While working on his debut album, LaKid Wise is releasing a promotional giveaway mix album titled "Enter The Movement" available for direct download on www.TheHipRockStar.com as of November 24, 2009.

"Enter The Movement" will feature original works such as "Hustler", "Breaking Down" and various renditions and tributes to classics such as the late Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" and the Beatles' "Yesterday". America's listeners have been waiting for something different to hit the airwaves. Although Hip-Rock had its years of rise with acts such as Limp Bizkit and Rage Against The Machine it has never stayed consistent with today's top charts. It is a substantial challenge to revive this genre and keep it stable but this mixtape stands as a great starting point.

"Bringing two of the most influential genres together is not going to be easy but with the support of the people, anything is possible," says LaKid Wise. "Music is universal. My work is about more than creating a unified sound. It is about sending a message."

LaKid Wise has been composing music since age eleven. Still rocking at twenty-one, he has drawn creative inspiration from the great artists we know in modern entertainment. From immigrating to New York City as a young child, interning at Roc-a-fella Records as a high-school student and releasing two independent albums in his teenage years, LaKid Wise is stepping outside of the box to redefine commercial music.

Bethany And Rufus Roots Quartet To Perform At Barbes October 30th

Url: http://www.barbesbrooklyn.com/calendar.html

New World/Folk/Roots group The Bethany and Rufus Roots Quartet will be performing at Barbes in Brooklyn, New York on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. The Roots Quartet includes the duo Bethany and Rufus (Bethany Yarrow and Rufus Cappadocia), along with Fulani flutist Yacouba "Denke Denke" and Afro Haitian drummer 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste. The foursome will be performing tracks from their live 12 track CD "Live A Fip" released in Europe on October 22nd as a co- production with Radio France and Daqui Records.

Bethany And Rufus Roots Quartet @ Barbes
Friday, October 30, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.
376 9th Street (corner of 6th Avenue)
Park Slope, Brooklyn
(347) 422-0248
http://www.barbesbrooklyn.com/

One reviewer describes "Live A Fip," as "like nothing you've ever heard before. Styles from everywhere and anywhere come together seamlessly. One hears distinctly Afro-Cuban rhythms pop under driving bass lines, folksy lyrics and screaming flute. "Death Don't Have No Mercy" is particularly characteristic of this mixing and meshing. The cello is inescapably funky, the bongos complexify the rhythms, the flute line seethes with fiery reverberance, and Bethany's vocals lament the world in a way that only American folk music can."

Bethany as the daughter of legendary 60's Folk singer Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul & Mary) draws from the many songs that her father collected as part of the seminal folk movement of the 60s. Yacouba has dug deeply into the folkloric Hausa, Djerma, Peul and Songhai traditions of Niger and Bonga is the descendant of a very rich lineage of Vodou ceremonial drumming and song. Bonga has also traveled extensively through Haiti collecting and learning the different manifestations of Haitian song and folklore. Rufus has taken the cello into previously unknown realms and is noted for his collaborations in African, Arabic, and American music forms and also has a solo CD Songs for Cello on the Daqui label. Individually all of the members of the group have been instrumental in expanding the role of traditional forms in their respective musics. It is with this background that they have come together to create a sound that although based around the song forms of American traditional music reaches back to a common root that has inspired everyone involved.

Rufus is one of the leading voices of cello today. His technique and musicianship inspire awe and critics have characterized his playing as "powerful and exploring territory that is positively otherworldly." Rufus plays a self-designed five-string electric cello that extends the bass range of the cello and through amplification expands its tonal possibilities. He has collaborated with musicians from the Balkans, Ireland, West Africa, Greece and the Caribbean. He has backed the great singers Aretha Franklin and Kasse Mady. He was at the core of the rhythm section of Urban Tap, a dance company he toured with extensively. Rufus can be heard on cd with Songs for Cello (solo cello) , Bethany & Rufus, The Paradox Trio, among others.

Mitch Friedman Teams w/ XTC On New Quirk-Pop-tacular CD 'Game Show Teeth'

Brooklyn's Mitch Friedman has just released his fourth album of idiosyncratic, funny, original quirky pop - GAME SHOW TEETH.

Featuring Andy Partridge and Dave Gregory of the legendary British new wave pop band XTC, Friedman has created a playful, mature and varied album of 13 eccentrically catchy songs, full of wit and impressive wordplay. GAME SHOW TEETH is his most commercial and accessible effort to date, and shows an artist who has come to fully master his trade. Produced, performed and engineered almost entirely by Friedman, it is as accomplished and technically adept as it is musically vibrant.

Even Ray Davies, song-writing legend and lead singer of The Kinks, has become a fan of Friedman's unique skills as a wordsmith. Having attended a Davies song-writing course in England, Friedman took the advice of the sixties legend that every song must have a clear structure and composed "This Is a Song" - an amusing tribute to the simple formula that can be found in so many beautiful pieces of pop.

He sent the song to Davies - who describes Friedman as a "funny and interesting little man" - and the Londoner then played it for his students as part of his lesson on song structure. You can't get much higher praise than that! Be on the lookout for the surprising and innovative music video for "This Is a Song," which Andy Partridge praised as "a piece of minimalist perfection, and perhaps the invention of a new genre - Obviousism."

The variety on the record comes from the wide range of influences that have all had an impact on Friedman's sound. "I Have Never Lied" tips its surreal hat to fellow Brooklyn quirk-rockers They Might Be Giants (with whom Friedman also shares the acclaim of being the creator of an award winning children's record - 2005's concept album for kids, PURPLE BURT.)

It is a testament to his abilities that some of his musical heroes have become repeat collaborators. The aforementioned Andy Partridge and Dave Gregory of XTC have added their expertise for the third time to a Friedman record - with Partridge providing his jaggedly jazzy guitar licks to "Little Masterpiece," and Gregory contributing several guitars and bass to the hyperactively folky "The Man That Talked Too Much."

Other special guest stars include the ‘godfather of DIY/home recording' R. Stevie Moore, Joe McGinty (former keyboardist for The Psychedelic Furs, Amy Rigby, Martha Wainwright, and now musical director of New York City's Loser's Lounge tribute series,) and indie-pop songstress extraordinaire Andrea Perry.

Add in to the mix, the hilariously irreverent artwork and photography and you have an album that should amuse, entertain and thoroughly enhance any discerning pop aficionado's life.
