Peirson Live on Trip

Peirson will embark on a 900 km North Eastern canoe tour from Georgian Bay to Montreal with filmmaker/adventurer Frank Wolf and Peirson's band (+ guest musicians TBA) joining on dates including; Nature's Harmony EcoLodge in Mattawa, a fundraiser for EcoJustice in-store at Patagonia in Toronto and Dakota Tavern's Hayloft Dancehall show in Picton, ON. The tour begins June 3rd with an intimate show recorded live at The Painted Lady in the heart of Ossington village in downtown Toronto. The tour will celebrate the release of Peirson's latest album Wild Ones and pay homage to the very essence of Canada - the wilderness. Like modern day Voyageurs, Peirson and Frank will travel by canoe on the same water veins as the First Nations did when they populated the lands 10,000 years ago.

Peirson refers to the Wild Ones as a homesick project that prompted him to reconnect with his roots. Written in his New York apartment. Peirson plays each of the 20+ instruments himself and also designed and created the beautiful artwork. Each tile on the cover holds a paper-cut image of one of sixteen endangered species of Canada, and along with the songs, he intends for them to “represent the ten provinces, three territories and three oceans that reside within these fragile habitats.” Peirson's aim was to marry “art, music, and nature in an album dedicated to wildlife and to those living the wild life."

Frank Wolf is a Canadian filmmaker, adventurer, writer and environmentalist. He is known for films documenting wilderness expeditions around the world, with a focus on the Canadian North. His expeditions include being the first to canoe across Canada in one season and cycling 2,000 km in winter on the Yukon River from Dawson to Nome. His films include The Hand of Franklin, Kitturiaq, On the Line, Mammalian, and Borealis, all of which broadcast on CBC's documentary channel in Canada. RocketHub And CIRAA Partner To Bring Crowdfunding To Independent Recording Artists In Canada

TORONTO, CANADA, (October 11, 2011) — RocketHub, the community where artists launch, fund, and fly their projects, has unveiled its partnership with The Canadian Independent Recording Artists' Association (CIRAA), Canada's only national non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to Canadian independent recording artists.

JOHN'S, NL-Acclaimed singer/songwriter Matt Brouwer has received the JUNO Award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year from the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (CARAS) for his latest recording, Where's Our Revolution. Brouwer accepted the award Saturday at the 2010 JUNO Gala Dinner and Awards held at St. John's Convention Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Other 2010 JUNO Award winners included Michael Buble, Kings of Leon and K'haan. The JUNO Award is considered Canada's equivalent of the GRAMMY Award.

Italian-Canadian Rapper Carvelli Is Set To Introduce The Movement To The U.S.

Italian-Canadian rapper/producer Carvelli is set to release his latest EP The Movement. Carvelli has come a long way since the days of hanging out at poker clubs with his father as a kid. Admitting that these clubs were no place for a kid to be, he does admit to the slight influence they had on him. "There was no way a kid should have been in there, the smoke, the cards, the money, but there I was. I guess because of that I always had a feeling it was cool to be where people said you shouldn't go", states Carvelli.

This attitude explains why he has chosen hip-hop as his art form of choice. "I love hip-hop music and it's culture, and I love Italian music and my culture. I should represent both. Mary was ambushed and shot at in Somalia and delivered babies in the jungles of Sri Lanka. Mary traveled through perilous Afghani Mountains infested with land mines by jeep, foot and Donkey to reach isolated inhabitants. She brought food to starving refugees by plane in south Sudan, after their villages and crops were destroyed by northern government alliances. She was also one of the first to provide medical aid to Kosovar refugees who had experienced unthinkable horrors. Mary, a seasoned veteran of the Nobel Prize winning organization Doctors Without Borders began sharing her moving stories with students across the United States in 2000. After hearing about her experiences numerous students wanted to spend their time helping others abroad but couldn't find organizations that would accept them into their programs.
