MusicDish President Eric de Fontenay will be representing Trinidad-based 12 The Band at this year's MIDEM conference being held in Cannes, France. Mr. de Fontenay will be meeting particularly with Canadian-based music companies, seeking for licensing/distribution, booking and management opportunities. The band has been invited to showcase Canadian Music Week this March in Toronto and plan an active schedule in Canada in the subsequent months.
12 The Band completed their debut album "Streets and Avenues," which they performed live at the prestigious Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica, followed by a showcase at the 2008 London Calling Music Conference in London. They have toured Britain playing in some of the prominent night clubs on the Central London music scene like The Sin Club, The Bar Fly, Momo's Cargo and Canvas and has performed live on the BBC Radio Show "Outlook." 12 has also played at the Birmingham Carnival, Nottinghill Carnival and the Yaashantewaa Calypso Tent which is the first and only calypso tent in London. 12 has performed in the Alliance Francaise Fete de La Musique opening for international recording artists such as Chris Combette and Orange Sky.
12 The Band fuses Alternative Rock with indigenous Caribbean influences such Calypso and Reggae, as well as other popular forms such as Soul and Jazz... a unique sound they affectionately call Earth Force Music.
