Erik Scott Nominated As Best Producer, Contemporary Instrumental Album, In The 16th Annual Independent Music Awards

Music Resource Group (MRG) announced Erik Scott as one of the "Best Producer" Nominees in the 16th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMAs), for his album In The Company of Clouds. Culled from thousands of submissions worldwide, the nominees were chosen by both fans and industry panelists. The year's best self-released and indie label projects will be announced next Saturday March 31, 2018; Scott plans to attend the event at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.

Scott is a multi-faceted Artist/Composer/Producer who has been a force in Contemporary Instrumental Music since the 2008 release of his solo debut, Other Planets. His nominated album, In the Company of Clouds, has been called "transcendental" and already won both Album of the Year and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album honors at the Zone Music Awards.

Scott wrote and produced the album, making great use of instrumentalist friends on several tracks, and painting with beautiful gospel voices on two tracks. A consistent presence throughout is the graceful steel guitar of John Pirruccello, who is heard on his previous recordings as well. Erik plays melodic fretless, and in his own words "his fretted Frankenbass 1964 Fender, bass-generated sound fx, the keyboards, drum and percussion programs, some wee vocals, and that one mandolin."

Ben Dunham Partners With Award-Winning Songwriter Dave Gutter On New Single, Talkin' Down

Producer and musician Ben Dunham announced today the release of his single, "Talkin' Down," on Friday, February 16, 2018. Recorded at The Halo Studio in Portland, Maine, "Talkin' Down" was written by Dunham with vocal collaboration from Dave Gutter, the frontman of Rustic Overtones, a psychedelic rock band out of Portland, Maine. Dunham's partnership with Gutter began after he received a stylistic comparison to the artist during the promotion of his latest album, The Backline Collective, which was released in July of 2017.

The punchy, polished track comes in just under four minutes and captures raw, dark emotions. According to Dunham, "The single was inspired by how our thoughts and words carry more weight than we may realize and how people's personal struggles often make it easier to bring others down."

Beyond partnering with 13 artists on his first album, Dunham has worked and toured with an impressive roster of musicians, such as the hip-hop funk band Dysfunkshun, Madou Dembele, and now Dave Gutter. He hopes to keep the collaborations coming in his second album, a continuation of the Backline Collective, which will be released later in 2018.

On his partnership with Gutter, Ben said, "I have been a big fan of Dave for a long time now, so I was excited to get to partner with him on my newest single. Dave has worked with many big names like Bowie, Aaron Neville, Gramatik, and Eric Krasno. NYC-Based Producer & Songwriter Ayhan Sahin Releases Fourth Single 'Love Everybody' from Award-Winning Album 'Pop'

To acknowledge National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Turkey - an annual celebration that takes place each April 23 - Young Pals Music has released the new single "Love Everybody." This marks the fourth release from the upcoming album "Pop," the first full-length namesake collection from Turkish-born, New York City-based songwriter & producer Ayhan Sahin.

The album "Pop" features 12+ diverse vocalists & musicians across a myriad of styles, including R&B & soul, dance, jazz, country and of course... pop. All songs are co-written and co-produced by Sahin with hit songwriter Bernadette O'Reilly, who has also worked for three decades in artist relations, management and song placement. She delivers the lead vocal for "Love Everybody," with an upbeat rap from King James.

"This is a joyous pure pop anthem that unites all colors, all religions and all cultures in a world that remains too divided and saddled with discrimination." Sahin says. "My partner Bernadette and I wanted to celebrate all the good things in life... our friends, family, pets and beloved places... for 4 fun-filled minutes."

The production for "Love Everybody" revolves around a children's choir that delivers the message of "L.O.V.E." in each chorus: "Well you can love many people, doesn't really matter how many people you love/Cause you can love everybody, every single body/Cause every single body needs love." The track is an ideal accompaniment for elementary school instruction as well as a call for unity in what is a contentious election year in the United States. And adding to its delicious pure pop template, it's no secret that the madcap song also draws inspiration from "Does Your Mother Know" by Swedish supergroup ABBA.

"Love Everybody" follows three previous singles from "Pop": First, in December, was "New Year's Eve At Home," celebrating the joy of cozying up with loved ones, with full-on country flavor, courtesy of vocalist Christi Bauerlee. In February, rowdy break-up song "Since You've Been Gone" was issued, sung by award-winning rock singer/songwriter and film/Broadway actor David Keeley. And in March came "Drink," about celebrating with a glass raised to the joys of life, love, family and all good things. Psychedelic One-Man-Band Debuts Single From 2016 EP

Psychedelic music producer Joey Arkane keeps his hands on the mixing board while stepping into the vocal booth to deliver his "Celestial Junkie" EP. "Nobody But You", the first single from this EP, was inspired by a time where Joey looked around his life and realized all he had was her. The song came to him at a very quiet moment in his apartment. She sat there quietly doing homework while Joey took time to admire her. The song immediately formulated and the record was composed, arranged, and recorded within 30 minutes. Wanting to capture raw and authentic emotions, Joey convinced her to record the vocals for the record. His Celestial Junkie EP is scheduled for release February 10th, 2016.

J-Roc Earns Two Awards At The 63rd Pop Song Awards

Super-producer Jerome "J-ROC" Harmon earned both his fourth and fifth BMI Awards with two more hit songs. Broadcast Music, Inc. honored some of its best artists, producers and songwriters at the 2015 Pop Awards held on May 12th at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

J-ROC earned two BMI Pop Song Awards for "Holy Grail" performed by Jay Z and featuring Justin Timberlake and "Not a Bad Thing" by Justin Timberlake.

The 63nd annual BMI Pop Awards were hosted by BMI Vice President and General Manager, Writer/Publisher Relations, Barbara Cane, and BMI President and CEO Mike O'Neill.

Shortly following Korg's endorsement of J-ROC – music writer and biographer Jake Brown (author of Rick Rubin: In the Studio, and over twenty four publications) confirmed a chapter of his new anthology entitled, "Hip Hop Hits" will feature a chapter on the Multi-Grammy Super Producer.

Earlier this year J-ROC took home a Grammy for Best R&B Song for Beyonce's "Drunk In Love" as well as earning additional accolades in the following categories,

Rebel Flag Salute The New Soul Revolution

So here we go with another band press release and the challenge to say something new about four musicians who want to save the world with a tune, is on.

In the deep end we dive to introduce a crew from the heartlands of Sussex in the UK called Rebel Flag, a force that digs deep into the roots of soul and rock music and mixes it with some true 21st century swagger.

If the current crop of cloned out rock bands and pop factor coveter belt puppets has got you reaching for a new Spotify playlist, then you might want add these boys to it.

A new EP out this summer proves that there is still music being made that has the quality as was laid down in stone in the golden age of popular music.

With an industry that has been kicked and mauled to near extinction over the past 15 years, you may ask yourself why musicians even bother to try and break new music.

Faced with a task of playing hostile venues for little or no money, sales from releases looking unsustainable and companies taking huge cuts from the streaming royalties, it’s never looked so hard for new music to find a rock to stand on.

So with that question in mind who do the Rebel Flag think they are trying to keep the flame burning for original music and killer live shows, maybe because they are all completely mad or maybe because they believe in the connection the music and like-people can bring to the party?

Leading the troops is Irish born singer songwriter and producer Dar.Ra.

His credits go back to the 90's with hits under the disguises of Taste of Paradise, Bliss and an Australian band called Ultra Love Machine, and remixes of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Tears 4 Fears and Savage Garden.

Growing up listening to bands like the Specials, Paul Weller and classic soul and rock from the 60's and 70's is the lifeblood that goes into Dar.Ra and his songwriting.

His live experience has seen him tour around the world solo and with bands over the past 15 years, so much so he has written a book called Road Tales all about the adventures of a musician on the road, which is out this summer to coincide with the debut EP release.

The power punch of the up and coming comes in the form of Aiden a drummer who has all the attitude of Keith Moon, with added virtue of being able to play any kind of vibe at the drop of a hat.

Inventiveness and creativity flows effortlessly for a player under the age of 20 years old, which can only be attributed to his parents having impeccable musical taste and his uncle being the late great John Martyn.

Bring on the new breed. Added to this wild brand is a rising young player from Venezuela Chrissy D, a true bass head, with a capacity to hold a groove from here to eternity. His latin passion and addiction to making music that touches the soul, brings a white heat to the rhythm section.

In a few short months they have swaggered around the South Coast of England reminding people that music still means something in the toxic corporate world of a dying music industry.

And what of the music?
The music is a hybrid of rock mixed with some soul a touch of reggae and a slice of attitude laid on top to give it that fine mix that British bands do so well.

So as your mind suggests we've heard it all before and your ears retreat to your comfort zone, let me tell you that this is something to keep close to your heart.

In doing that one small task, we keep an door open to that tribal power that first hit the dance-floors back in the 50's when Rock n Roll was born.
