The first known EPK, as we know it today, premiered live on the web on January 8, 1995, and was invented and given the exact name electronic press kit or EPK by Andre Gray, the inventor of online music sales certifications and winner of The Johannes Gutenberg Inventor Prize. Gray's EPK featured a bio, audio clips, videos, photos, press, set list, basic technical requirements, and a calendar and featured R&B singer and songwriter Aaron Hall as the first artist ever to have an EPK created on their behalf.

Brand New Talent Platform Perform-ers Set To Discover The Stars Of The Future

Perform-ers is a new platform for creative people who can set up an online profile to promote their music and art and enter global competitions. These competitions will not only enable artists to gain amazing prizes but they will also use part of their revenues to give to charities!

In a world where the DIY approach to promoting one's artistic careers is more common than ever before, Perform-ers offers a platform for global talent to unite and get heard and seen. In the 21st century, promotion through digital spaces is the number one component of a successful campaign. This kind of approach has made the rise of contemporary superstars such as Justin Bieber or Ed Sheeran possible.

Instead of having to use multiple websites to upload profiles, videos and audio files Perform-ers offers a centralised version of all those platforms combined in one. On the website, the audience will not only be able to engage with the artist but can support them by purchasing their music or voting for them in various competitions.

Apart from those weekly media contests, talent searches for singers, models, DJs and the like will be held as well.

With Perform-ers, the chance to be tomorrow's new superstar is imminent!

Unlike the X Factor it gives artists complete control over their creative outcome and instead of relying on just a few different judges, the whole world will have a say and give you a real idea how receptive people actually are to what you offer!

Perform-ers Founder Eric Krammer explains: 'There are so many talented young people out there, they deserve to become a voice and follow their dreams. Performers should be a place where we connect, create and give to others who need help'

Perform-ers is an amalgamation of artists from around the world that allows outstanding talent to be filtered out through competitions and interaction with their audience. In order to reach as many people as possible, the website will be available in English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Czech and Polish versions.

What makes Perform-ers different from other artist platforms is a worldview that does not only focus on gaining maximum exposure for the musicians and artists but also use the money that is made through competitions to help those in need by supporting charities. For each time you enter a contest, there will be a $1.99 upload fee of which 20c will go directly to sponsored charities while 50c will go into the cash pool from which the cash prizes derive.

If you're an artist who wants to get out there and be part of a global collective that focuses on more than one good cause then simply follow Perform-ers' formula:

CREATE + WIN PRICES = HELP CHARITIES

James Moore And Independent Music Promotions Continue Rise As Premier Music PR Company With Commitment To Quality Artists And Guaranteed Results

"Getting quality press coverage is difficult for any indie artist trying to promote themselves in an already crowded marketplace. James Moore gets your music in front of the right people, leading to maximum exposure."
(Adam Reifsteck, Teknofonic Records)

(Vancouver, CA) – December 4, 2015
In today's music industry, style very often trumps substance. Autotuned vocals, airbrushed pictures, and soulless songs have become all too familiar. A company from Vancouver, Canada has achieved success by reversing this trend and providing increased recognition for unsigned artists whom they consider honest creators of music with depth. Independent Music Promotions is a leading music PR company that guarantees all clients a high amount of quality features in prominent publications. I.M.P was founded in 2011 by Your Band Is a Virus author James Moore, one of music PR's most innovative and followed thinkers. Moore's innovative approach to music PR has been featured in numerous major music magazines and blogs, including CDBaby, Reverbnation, and Reddit. Moore is currently Quora‘s most viewed writer on independent music.

So what is Moore doing that sets I.M.P. apart from today's crowded field of music PR companies? For one, I.M.P. only works with "music with depth" from what they consider to be genuine artists. Whereas some PR companies will work with whoever is willing to pay, I.M.P. works closely with musicians with whom Moore feels a connection. This allows Moore to follow through on his initial vision of taking "an ethical, DIY approach to music PR." Moore revels in the fact that I.M.P. is in a niche: "We don't accept American Idol pop, typical club hip-hop, radio rock, religious music, or low quality demos. Other than those, we're open to greatness within any genre."

In addition to Moore's unheralded selectivity, I.M.P. is the only "guaranteed" music PR company in the world. According to Moore, "PR means the delivery of press to every single client, every single time. This is one of the main differences between I.M.P. and most other promotion companies: We absolutely guarantee press to every single one of our artists. No exceptions. All of our clients receive exceptional results from their I.M.P campaigns. We plan to keep it that way."

Perhaps the most instrumental reason for I.M.P.'s success is the fact that Moore can relate to unsigned artists who are hungry for exposure. Moore played in bands all his life before being ripped off by a major PR firm that landed a mere three reviews following an expensive campaign. Moore realized that he "could probably do much better than that." Moore did just that, garnering seventy reviews of that same record - all on his own. His success inspired Moore to "work with underground artists and change the music PR business model."

Moore's "music with depth" movement has gained popularity among both artists and the music media, partially due to the "artist first" approach detailed in his books.

"We're getting more and more word-of-mouth, and I think it's because of the quality control. Saying "no" can be a powerful tool for a business. I operate the company essentially as a music fan. There's no industry in my eyes, just people."

Your Band Is A Virus was originally released in 2010 and again as an expanded edition in 2013. Moore is known for his critiques on industry protocol and artist attitudes, with his most successful piece being his Can We Get In Pitchfork? 6 Philosophical Reasons Indie Bands Fail article. According to Moore, I.M.P. is filling a void left by much of today's fake plastic pop: "It may not seem like it in our current blog culture, but people still want music with soul and meaning. There are still thousands of blogs and media outlets that focus on quality music content, and they share the same values as us. The key has been building a network of individuals and publications who view inspiring art as a critical part of our culture."

The company's current roster includes a wide array of artists, including Monks of Mellonwah, The Tomas Doncker Band, Arc & Stones, EndAnd, Joshua Worden, and Beijing. Each artist is the beneficiary of Moore's innovative approach to PR: "I.M.P.'s packages include all traditional marketing methods, but we also do something non-traditional. We work with an army of hundreds of freelance bloggers, journalists, and editors with whom we have forged personal relationships. This helps us get press for our clients in prominent publications every time."

SplashFlood, New Talent-Based Music App Now on Android

SplashFlood's new music app is now available on Android. The app, which first launched on iOS in July, allows artists to upload and promote their music for free and for music lovers to discover talent without any monthly fees or ads. A video demonstrating the app is available at: http://www.splashflood.com/

SplashFlood rewards talent through the app's Influence Builder tool, which is in line with their mission to prove that real talent can come from anywhere. Through this unique promotional feature, every time an artist listens to and rates a song, one of their songs in the app gets listened to and rated by another artist of the same genre. The Influence Builder gives artists the opportunity to get their music heard and validated by other artists, and helps increase their exposure to other listeners. Artists can therefore promote their music without big budgets for promotional campaigns.

Key features include:

- Artists can reach new audiences through the promotional system called the Influence Builder. Every time an artist listens to and rates a song, one of their songs is played for another artist of the same genre to rate.

- Artists receive Splash Points for every positive rating they get. The more Splash Points an artist earns, the more likely one of their songs will make it on one of the app's Featured Channels to attract even more listeners. Songs on the Featured Channels are promoted to all users of the app.

- Artists can become Influencers in their genre and help other artists with their music careers.

Music lovers can discover talented artists and be among the first to stream new music for free.

- There are no monthly fees. Listeners can stream as many songs as they like, with no ads, and artists can upload all their best recordings - for free.

- Artists can choose in which genres to upload their songs so that only fans of that genre will listen to them.

Pro Soul Alliance Launches Music Production, Mixing, Mastering, Promotion & Distribution Services In China

China is a huge, emerging market for the music industry, but currently in it’s infancy, and still immature. Professional assistance is desperately needed due to crippling discouragement Chinese artists have, attributed to the pervasive downloading of music. There is also a huge lack of ‘official’ presence for foreign artists who are becoming very popular in China. partly due to the challenges of representing themselves in this daunting market. That means huge opportunity for those willing to support, develop and nurture music in China.

At the end of 2011, Pro Soul Alliance announced a new world class recording and production studio in Beijing as our first step. Now we are offering promotion, marketing, sales and distribution both within China and outside to our existing artists and Chinese artists through our local office in Beijing. Unlike other companies offering music services in China, we are based within China, and our local office is staffed with bilingual locals who know the market and culture, and have experience working with Chinese and international artists here.

Our company has been legally registered as a Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise in China under the name ‘敬真堂(北京)文化咨询有限公司’ Which translates to ‘Respect Truth (Beijing) Culture Consultancy Co. Ltd.’

Because China is a complex and daunting market for a foreign company, we are starting out with the following basic range of services:

For Chinese artists:
- Focusing on getting Chinese artists who are ready exposure internationally
- Getting international distribution and sales for Chinese music (iTunes, Spotify, Nokia)
- Promotion and marketing for Chinese artists overseas by connecting with interested markets and fans

For International Artists:
- Digital distribution for international artists in China (including essential mobile stores China Mobile, Unicom, Telecom)
- Promotion and marketing in China focusing on key social networking sites like Weibo, Douban, Youku
- Collaboration with Chinese artists and recording traditional Chinese instruments with local professionals

As we continue researching the industry and experimenting with new techniques for promotion and marketing music in China, we will also be offering licensing for Chinese music internationally in Film, TV, and online, expanding their revenue sources. We will also assist Chinese artists who are ready to create their own business and develop music career in China to maximize their profit and control. Of course we will also be able to assist international artists book shows and organize tours in China in future.

We have already begun assisting international artists Elika Mahony, and Hart as well as Chinese artist Abominati get exposure in China.

You can sign up right now for promotion, marketing and distribution in China with the ‘Professional Artist Management and Consulting Asia’ option on the Get Started section of our website at www.prosoul.com. For artists within China, we have a new website in Chinese with a helpful blog focused on the local market.
