Cinq Music Partners With Janet Jackson For First Independent Release On Her Rhythm Nation Records

Global icon Janet Jackson has partnered with Indie distributor, label and publisher Cinq Music for a recording and distribution agreement through her label Rhythm Nation Records for her recently announced new single, "Made For Now" featuring Reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee. At 12am on Friday, August 17, the "Made For Now" video will debut on Janet's You Tube page and later that morning she and Daddy Yankee will appear on MTV's "TRL AM" at 8:00 a.m. EST to discuss the project. The announcement was made by Janet, her brother Randy, who is her partner at Rhythm Nation Records, GoDigital Media Group and Cinq Chairman Jason Peterson alongside Cinq co-founder and President Barry Daffurn.

"Janet is a singular talent, a pop culture icon, incredibly innovative and socially conscious, a true music superstar," says Daffurn. "Her career is a highlight reel of an artist pushing the boundaries of pop music. The "Made For Now" video is an ambitious multi-million dollar Dave Meyers-directed music video for the song recently shot in Brooklyn, NY. ,Meyers has collaborated with Jackson extensively, including previous videos "All For You," "No Sleep," and "Dammn Baby" as well videos for other megastars including Kendrick Lamar and SZA ("All the Stars"), Ariana Grande ("God is A Woman") and Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug ("Havana").The "Made For Now" video is produced by Peterson, along with Nathan Scherrer and Justin Diener from Freenjoy (productions for Beyoncé, Drake and Kendrick Lamar). Additional songs and videos are also scheduled for release later this year.

The announcement was made by Cinq co-founder and President Barry Daffurn. Being a huge fan of garage rock, I always look forward to hearing compilations that feature a variety of garage bands. Never knowing what you're going to find, but always hoping it will be something special is half the fun of hearing any compilation. Thankfully, Out Of The Garage, Vol. 1 is fun and then some all the way through with a variety of garage bands each with their own style and presence.

The legendary Mark Lindsay provides one hell of a strong lead off track with "Like Nothing That You've Seen", which also sounds like nobody else. With a seductive vibe and great groove, this track is an instant earworm. The Wee Gees tear it up on the second track with "You Gotta Work". A high energy blast featuring some fabulous sax, it sounds like a lost 60s gem. It's impossible not to turn this up and dance. Next up is Rage Of Angels, an all girl garage band that combine the sweet melodies of 60s girl groups with an edgier pop sound. "Nothing To Brag About" (featuring the late John Jennings as a guest guitarist providing some stand out work) is an FU break up song that leaves a strong impression. NJ natives The Accelerators are next with "Take It Or Leave It". With lyrics like "I love you, but I hate you/I want you, but I don't need you", it's power pop full of swagger and attitude, showing the band at their best. Track 5 brings us "Half A Mile Away", the second song by Rage Of Angels to be included here. "Half A Mile Away" continues in the same style of the earlier song with a bit more musical crunch added. KickBend is next with "Spin", a song about information overload with a straightforward beat and a dash of humour. The seventh track is "Broken Record", the latest from The Catholic Girls. Using sparkling vocal harmonies and fuzzed out guitar, the Girls create a memorable pop song about longing for lasting love that's a worthy addition to their discography and to this compilation. Next up is The Chords UK making a very welcome return with their single "I Can't Let Go". One of the original bands of the 70s mod revival in the UK, this song is a knockout with all the smarts and attitude you'd expect and then some. Zombie Garden Club bring us the ninth track here, "Hey Little School Girl". With bright organ taking the lead and snarly guitar threaded in, this song has an mid 60s vibe would sound right at home next to Shadows of Knight or Stones from that era and it sounds great here too. The final track of the album is The Satisfactors' "Sweet Sunshine". A super group featuring members of The Grip Weeds and The Doughboys among other well-known and well respected garage rock stars, the combination of songwriting and performing can be heard in this track. A blast of sunny summer energy and melodic rock with a danceable groove, this song is well chosen to close out this compilation.

Out Of The Garage Volume 1 is one of the best current garage rock compilations I've had the pleasure to hear recently. There were strong songs from a variety of bands and the songs included let each band's style and personality shine through. An excellent compilation from start to finish.

Heavy Metal Band VIA Signs To Unable Records

In the ultimate case of saving-the-best-for-last, Unable Records has rocked the American metal scene on the final day of the year. Violence in Ascension, the veteran metal band also known as VIA, has just inked a one album deal with Unable Records, a division of the Unable Music Group. The agreement calls for a full-length album, likely consisting of 10 brand new original songs, to be released later in 2016.

VIA, who recently adopted their long-form name Violence in Ascension, are a well established staple in the East Coast metal scene. Since early 2012, VIA has released both an EP and a full-length album; the latter (From the Ashes - 2014) while signed to the North Carolina heavy metal label Dark Harvest Records. During that time the band has played a relentless show schedule, hitting stages from South Carolina to New York And as far west as Ohio, where they played the main stage for fans at Cleveland's famed Rockapalooza. For the crew at Unable Records, VIA represents a breath of fresh air; a band that not only packs an unbelievable amount of raw talent, but backs it up with unmatched dedication and persistence. Hot off the back of taking second place at the national Dance Rites celebration held at Sydney's Opera House, Koomurri Dancers launch their fourth album 'Sacred Land' on December 15th 2015, through Australian Aboriginal label Deadly Records.

Sacred Land is a traditional didgeridoo album with tracks in aboriginal language and features Russell Dawson throughout the songs. Russell is a Kamilaroi man who dances for his culture and his people. He loves to share the traditions of the Aboriginal people to keep the culture alive for future generations.

Koomurri have been performing across the world for over 30 years. A key entertainment group, anyone walking through Sydney's Circular Quay will most certainly witness Koomurri in action as they have performed the strip seven days a week entertaining the bustling local commuters and tourist trade for many years.

Yuin People is performed by Russell Dawson on didgeridoo and tribal song-man Cecil McLeod and is a dedicated album of traditional songs of the first nations people from the South Coast of New South Wales. Yuin People is a mix of traditional aboriginal song-lines from the region with the last part of the album features traditional song mixed with contemporary beats.

All Yuin people share in common ancestors who spoke as their first preferred language, one or more of the Yuin language dialects, including Djiringanj, Thaua, Walbanga, or Wandandian.

The traditional songs on the album have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years.

Charlotte, NC based Alternative Rockers Falling Through April Officially Joins Independent Ear

Falling Through April has toured the US extensively with bands such as Adelitas Way & The Pretty Reckless. The have also performed at SXSW, Vans Warped Tour, Florida Music Festival, Celebrate Fairfax, Sonorous Music Festival, Dewey Beach Music Conference. More recently the guys were awarded the IMEA award for "Rock Group of the Year". Adult Film Star Amai Liu Signs To Unable Records

Unable Records, a Cherry Hill, NJ-based independent record label, has signed adult film star Amai Liu to a recording contract. Together, Amai and Unable Records will write, record and release a brand new single; but that isn't the biggest story of the day. It has also been revealed that this unlikely team will be filming the entire process, from songwriting and rehearsal to recording and marketing, in order to produce and release a compelling, behind the scenes docu-series.

"When Amai came to us and expressed an interest in trying to break into the music industry, we knew immediately that this was a project that we wanted to work on," said Jason Ruch of Unable Records. "Amai has always had a deep love for music, and she is quite talented."

While discussing the project during meetings at Unable's Cherry Hill headquarters, it quickly became apparent that the project was larger than just a single. "Everyone kept talking about what an interesting story this is - the porn star turned pop star," said Mike Ransom, Managing Partner at Unable Records. Despite the risks involved in a project of this type, trying to break someone into an unforgiving industry like music, grappling with the formation and coaching of a new artist, and overcoming the stereotypes and preconceived notions that go along with an adult performer; Unable Records decided to open the entire process to the public in order to tell that story. "All of us will be putting a lot on the line throughout this project; both Amai and the label have a lot to lose. With that said, we felt we had a amazing opportunity to give people a behind the scenes look at not only the making of a record, but the transformation of a career."

Good or bad, it will all be on display in the docu-series that Unable Records is calling Porn to Pop. It is unclear at this point exactly when the series, and the single on which it is focused, will be released, but the label has indicated it will likely be in early 2016. Additionally, the label has not revealed the genre of Amai's work, saying only that it falls outside of the rock, metal and punk with which they usually work.

Amai Liu and Unable Records will be jointly launching a crowd-funding campaign in the coming weeks in order to raise the money needed to complete the process of producing, filming and editing the docu-series. Unable Records is currently weighing several options for the release of the series, including shopping it to television networks and other video providers, such as Netflix and Amazon. Brooklyn-Based Music Incubator Signs Kerchief To Artist Development & Distribution Deal

(Brooklyn, NY, February 2015) With a well-bred attitude brimming with substance, both musically and lyrically, Kerchief is a welcome departure from what a listener might commonly find from a "twenty-something" female artist on today's Top 40. Kerchief (born Brittany Hill) hails from Ohio, but currently lives in Tennessee, brings a middle America sentimentality and work ethic to her most recent meticulous recording work with producer Matty Amendola.

After calling it quits with her band of seven years, Vanity Theft (Vigilante Music/Adamant Records) Hill's main focus was writing; Towing inspiration from the journey that has led her to where she is today. With five releases, two acclaimed web shows, and worldwide touring history with Hunter Valentine, Taking Back Sunday, and Sick Of Sarah, going solo was a cathartic experience that traced illustrations of what she was going through at that time.

"This album is a chance to connect with all those working so hard to make ends meet and make sense of life, and to remind them to cherish the moment," said Hill. "One day you'll look back and remember what it was like to want to work so hard for something you believed in, and you'll wish you were back there facing the unknown, but doing your best."

"From the writing process to pre-production, to the recording process with producer Matty Amendola, to the finished product, I feel that the songs became fully realized," said Hill. "I never had to bite my tongue. The songs were written from a raw emotional place, experimented with in the studio and brought to their full potential with Matty in Brooklyn, NY. This is the best thing I've done to date."

Amendola knew working with Kerchief would be a perfect fit as soon as he heard her demos. Working closely with engineer and Grammy Award winner Butch Jones, he created a sound that would bring Kerchief's debut album to life.

"What separates this record from the other indie rock out there, is that the songs themselves come first," said Amendola. "It's a rare quality to find an artist who's a real straight shooter and puts so much of her soul into her lyrics, while keeping everything simple and relatable.

After recording with producer Matty Amendola, he brought the full team on board from his music incubator 825 Records and signed Kerchief to an artist development and distribution deal. An Interview by Natasha Anac Edited by Geena Jinev Anac With six solo albums, four Grammy nominations, over twenty years in the music industry and launching his own record label one thing certain about R&B Superstar Eric Benét, he has succeeded on holding on to his own style without being phased by the new trends when it comes to his music, he certainly is one of the artists that keeps his integrity at a maximum level in a very "demanding" music industry and he never sacrifices his music in order to sell records. With his upcoming album "The One" it was a pleasure interviewing such a gifted artist like Eric Benét. What inspired you for the new album "The One"? EB: It is titled "The One", 'cause I have been in a twenty-year career, dreaming. hoping and praying that one day to be able to have my own record label and one day to be able to release my own music and other music. Finally after all these years this release is the one. This is the one that I feel like I am on the top of my game, musically, creatively, vocally I am in complete control of the project: It shows the diversity of musicianship. Do you feel even more challenged since you have your own record label? What are the positives and the negatives of having your own label? EB: Being an artist at another record label, as long as it was somebody else's label, as long as somebody else had to give the final creative approval before that record was released. You know that is not creative control to me, having my own label creatively I just feel like, I can spread my wings and give my audience the most pure, the most direct, creative representation of myself musically,now that's on the positive category. As negative, I don't even want to say negative, more like challenge in another category (Laughs), now that it is my record label, with that I got to write checks, I have to come up with the money to do quite a few things like the video or for the marketing. I welcome that challenge, the benefits out-weigh the challenges. By far it is an empowering situation. At the end of the day when the project is released, it is music and masters that I own, other than music that I recorded on Warner Brothers, they own that music now. Ownership motivates you. What's the story behind your new single Real Love! By the way, loved the video. EB: Thank you! Real Love is inspired by the relationship that I have with my wife. It's about having a love that comes from wisdom, growth and maturity. Sometimes we listen love songs that are all about fairy tale romance and sometimes we are not ready for that, we might still need some growing to do as an individual before we can give or receive that kind of love. For me what "Real Love" represents being evolved, by having enough life experiences to really know what it takes to make something so beautiful, a lot of it is work, a lot of it is cherishing what you have and nurturing it. Finding something real and making it last and that is pretty much the inspiration behind the song. Have you decided on the next single Eric? EB: Now that the recording process is finished myself, my management company, Primary Wave, and my distribution company EMI Capital Records, are listening to all the songs and trying to decide. How do you compare the overseas fans to US fans? EB: Seems like at the overseas is the emphasis on your sound or how the instrument is being played, it seems like here in the States, the emphasis is more on the celebrity or the sensationalism than the actual substance on what that artist is actually representing. What's your secret for being around for over 20 years in this industry? EB: That is an excellent question, I think: authenticity. I have never been an artist that tries to keep up with the trends. Over the past twenty years, there have been many trends. Hot producers that come and go. Hot artists that come and go. I have never been the kind of artist that said that beat, that groove is hot right now, let me find that producer so I can get him on my record. I authentically fell in love with a certain style, I guess enrichment, production and craftsmanship when it comes to R&B since I was a little boy. Every time I go in to the studio I want to have the goose bumps first time I heard Quincy Jones record, Michael Jackson or Earth Wind and Fire record. When I look back, that music versus the music of today, music today is great and very exciting but it is not as emotional as the music from back in the day. That has been my barometer, I think I have a better shot at having stamina and having something classic and that is my standard. I think that is the reason that I am able to sustain my career as long as I have. Are you inspired by any of the new artists that are around? EB: Yes there are a few. Legacy: I think she is brilliant. I really like Mike Ocean, I like where he is coming from. There is talent, there is hope Any last words to your fans? EB: I would like to extend my utmost gratitude and thanks for allowing me to make my music, for allowing me to sing over the years.
