Mantra Artists Launch Into Mainstream On The Back Of #1 Album Release

The number one album on iTunes and Amazon World Music Charts and number two on Billboard New Age Charts, Songs for the Sangha is now being released to radio with a special radio edit of the single Strong My Roots and an additional 2015 radio version of their world famous hit, Gayatri Mantra.

With over 300,000 social media fans and a celebrity fan base that includes everyone from Cher to the Dalai Lama, Deva Premal & Miten saw their version of the Gayatri Mantra covered by Cher on her Farewell Tour of 2003, with the track featured in the Warner Music DVD.

Coinciding with the release of the new album, and the single Strong My Roots, in an interview with The Insider Edition, Deva Premal and Miten explained that their mantra origins, with hits such as the Gayatri Mantra, have strengthened their following within the world-wide yoga community and are now reaching out to a wider audience.

Miten said, "When Mantras are sung, you are invoking a certain quality into your life...mantras find us...they become good friends in times of stress - and in today's troubled world, they are a great support. That's why we are reaching out."

Deva Premal explained that the new song, whilst also containing English lyrics has the same healing effect, celebrating the roots and wings of life, because it includes the ancient Sanskrit chant, Om Ganapati Mantra "...it is vital in our existence to have a connection to both polarities..."

Miten continued, "We tried to reflect the concept of roots and wings in the song, in the swampy funk of the instrumentation...and in the great banusri solo (Indian bamboo flute), played by the maestro Manose, which takes us to the heavens...!"

The new single Strong My Roots, is being delivered to radio stations across America this week, in a radio friendly edit, along with a 2015 radio edit of the classic Gayatri Mantra.

Aleynu. New Video From LENKA LICHTENBERG Is Upon Us!

'Aleynu' is a Hebrew prayer that concludes most Jewish services. The word itself means "it is upon us". Now, this sacred ancient liturgy is set to a stunning new video, which unites the visionary music of award-winning Canadian world-roots soprano Lenka Lichtenberg with the visual talents of Toronto-based videography agency Unikron.

Directed by Sergio Lasky of Unikron, with cinematography and editing by the award-winning Brazilian filmmaker Danilo Baracho, the ‘Aleynu' video is given a powerful visual gravitas by three distinctive locations: Kiever Synagogue in Kensington Market, which is the oldest standing synagogue in Toronto and also the very first building of Jewish significance to receive designation by the province of Ontario as a historical site; the sanctuary of Lenka's own home synagogue, Darchei Noam; and one of Toronto's great natural treasures, the Scarborough Bluffs on the shores of Lake Ontario.

"This is the first full video treatment of one of my original compositions," according to Lichtenberg. "My goal was for us to create a contemporary yet spiritual visual tableau that would complement my song and do this sacred prayer justice. I am immensely proud of this video, and so grateful to everyone involved from Unikron to my band for realizing its fruition."

The song ‘Aleynu' is one of the many highlights from Embrace, Lichtenberg's globally acclaimed 2013 album with her band Fray, which features some of the most luminous global music talents in Canada.

Fray is:
Lenka Lichtenberg -vocals, composition & arrangements
Alan Hetherington - drums & percussion,
Ravi Naimpally - tabla
Chris Gartner - bass
John Gzowski - guitar
Ernie Tollar - woodwinds

with special guests:
Hugh Marsh - violin
Roula Said - qanun

About Lenka Lichtenberg:
Vocalist & composer Lenka Lichtenberg shines as one of the most ambitious and visionary artistic builders in a nation that proudly defines its human identity as a multicultural mosaic. The Prague-born soprano's voice soars in no less than six languages -- Yiddish, English, Czech, French, Russian, and Hebrew -- in collaboration with leading world-roots instrumentalists and vocalists from the global diaspora. Her eight albums to date are far more than mere recordings in sequence; each one is its own groundbreaking idea, carefully manifested from the selection of songs and performers, to the recording environments, to the form and shape in which they are presented to the world. From her inspirational roots in Jewish liturgy and Yiddish poetry, Lichtenberg has branched out to become a bona fide world-roots troubairitz.

Lichtenberg's stunning most recent contribution to the world-roots canon, in the company of her ensemble Fray (Yiddish for "Free"), is Embrace. Continuing in the tradition of the ensemble's eponymous 2010 debut album, Embrace boldly forges uncharted terrain in new Yiddish music -- drawing on traditional songs and contemporary Yiddish poetry. Lichtenberg blends the tradition and language of Eastern European Jewish culture with unexpected sounds from Middle Eastern, Brazilian and North Indian music, expertly animated by Canada's leading Indo-Canadian and world fusion artists, including: Alan Hetherington (musical co-director, drums, pandeiro, percussion), Ravi Naimpally (tabla, darbuka), Ernie Tollar (flutes, saxophones), John Gzowski (guitars, oud), and Chris Gartner (bass). It was officially released in April 2013 at one of Canada's signature performance venues, the Canadian Broadcasting Company's Glenn Gould Studio.

Her newest collaboration is Lullabies from Exile, with world-renowned Iraqi-Jewish violinist, oud master and vocalist Yair Dalal. Released in September 2014, Lullabies was recorded on three continents over a two-year span. The project intertwines Babylonian and Yiddish traditional music -- two branches of a tree that, while born from the same roots and trunk, grew in separate ways for over two millennia. She is also working on a collection of remixes from her extensive catalogue with Canada's top global-fusion producers Andrew McPherson, who has remixed the likes of Transglobal Underground and Vieux Farka Toure, and Delhi 2 Dublin and leads the 2-time Juno nominated band Eccodek.

The Making Of A Hit Song

You won't have to wait much longer to get your music-loving hands on the new collaboration from Emmy-nominated T.O.N.E-z and the incomparable Moksha Sommer of HuDost. Their hauntingly beautiful collaborative version of T.O.N.E-z’ hit Sittin' In My Room is due for release soon, but music reviewers who have been given a sneak peek love it!

“...A hit!” says Michael Peacock of Indie Outbreak. “Breathtaking!”

The reviewers at MusicBliss.net are more effusive:

“Compelling, breathtaking, mysterious, and game-changing are a few of the thoughts that came to mind when we first heard “Sittin' In My Room” by T.O.N.E-z, featuring the incredible songstress Moksha. ...A must-hear for any true fan of the art of music.”

Or take the words of Michael Friedman at Skope Magazine:

“T.O.N.E-z gets real on this smooth and soulful track. This is what people need right now: truth in music. Really feeling this track; can't wait to buy it!”

Anyone familiar with the Hip Hop style of T.O.N.E-z and the World Music style of Moksha might wonder how these two accomplished performers ever got together, but T.O.N.E-z is a master of blending styles. His vocals on the genre-busting hit song “Long Hard Times to Come,” the Bluegrass-based theme song from the first season of the FX hit TV series Justified, earned him an Emmy nomination. T.O.N.E-z and Moksha were introduced through their manager, Laurena Marrone of Grit, LLC.

Says Moksha, “We come from totally different musical angles that can be wonderfully complementary. Truthfully, I think it was a very solid track on its own without my vocal harmonies. I was delighted to add some sprinkles to the sundae.”

Says T.O.N.E-z, “The passion and integrity came from my soul when I created the verses and chorus, and with Moksha's incredible contribution, listeners will feel the power.”

T.O.N.E-z has been very busy with the release of his highly successful new album, High Voltage, and with preparation for the 4th season of Justified.

Moksha is booked through the summer, touring with her band HuDost. The prolific songwriter is currently working on additional collaborations with Steve Kilbey of The Church and Jon Anderson of Yes. For HuDost, what lies ahead promises to be a cutting edge album featuring folk-oriented music with splashes of Middle Eastern and Eastern European influences.

The remix of Sittin' In My Room featuring Moksha is available now via itunes and Amazon: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sittin-in-my-room-new-mix/id540242092 or

Swedish World Music Artist Malou Berg Releases Highly Anticipated Album "Den Inre Vagen" (The Inner Path)

Den Inre Vagen (The Inner Path) -- the latest release from Swedish World Music vocalist Malou Berg will be available on iTunes May 22nd on Malou Berg ProSongs AB. Berg's latest offering is a "modern mass" with a distinctly Gospel feel that is certain to deeply touch and amaze listeners. Den Inre Vagen (The Inner Path) was composed and arranged by Malou Berg and Anders Ekdahl. Created expressly for 3 soloists representing the tenants of Faith, Hope and Love. Berg's conviction and musical skill evoke an overwhelming musical experience, and her swelling musical suite will leave no one untouched. The piece features 20 separate, but related songs featuring vocalists Olle Persson ("Love"); Lena Maria Klingvall ("Faith") and Malou Berg ("Hope"); as well as a choir (Sacre Chouer), a band and a string quartet. "For several years I was talking about composing a piece of music with a beginning, a middle and an end," says Berg. "In the course of composing this album, I found myself writing for three individuals, three voices -- Faith, Hope and Love -- with different personalities, longings and weaknesses. They are all on the path of life, but on different distances from the final goal. They share a longing to find God, to be near, true and faithful to their heart as well as the difficulty of finding and walking their inner path and a quest to experience limitless love. Yes, Den Inre Vagen is about all of that." On the track, "Oppna Ditt Hjartas Dorr" ("Open the Door to Your Heart"), Berg offers a welcoming message of love and encouragement to start fresh and leave behind old baggage, while on "Hor Min Bon" ("Hear My Prayer") -- a choir sings of a yearning for God. The narrative weaves its compelling way through tracks like "Se Dig Om" ("Look Behind You") and "Jag Tror, Langtar Och Vill ("I Believe, I am Longing and I Want To") as the voices of Faith and Hope struggle with life's fundamental question, "How do you listen to your heart?" Ultimately, Berg's inspired narrative culminates with "Sla Hjarta Sla" ("Beat My Heart, Beat") which reminds the faithful avoid becoming mired down in bitterness and always allow hope and joy of life stay with you. A native of Stockholm, cabaret artist/composer/vocalist Malou Berg has performed on theater stages, and acted in both film and popular television series, and her songs have been covered by a variety of artists. Educated at the prestigious Adolf Fredrik Music School in Stockholm as well as the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Berg has received numerous awards including: a 1982 STIM (The Swedish equivalent of an ASCAP award) and a Certificate of Achievement in the Billboard Song Contest's Gospel category. In addition, Berg was awarded the 2009 Word-Prize at the annual WORDFESTIVAL for creating her own sensual and musical language, Pleiadian - as well as for her capability to, "inspire others to express themselves in singing the words and enjoying them." Critically Acclaimed Acoustic/ World Guitarist Magic Brook Progressing On New Album

Having had 2 songs on the charts in the New Age/ Ambient / World Radio category and an album on the same charts for over 70 weeks, San Francisco based guitarist Magic Brook is currently tracking his next album with producer Winter (Brian Gore, Shay Black, Kymberly Jackson). The album is currently being tracked at B-Room Studios and mixed at EMB Studios in Oakland CA.

Magic Brook's professional equipped B-Room Studios recently went through an upgrade to increase the fidelity for the new album.
"B-room Studios meets a higher standard of acoustic excellence" states producer Winter. "Scratch recordings have been made for almost all the compositions in order to refine the work. To me it further shows off Brook's innovative technique while still retaining his great melodic sense and relying on his deep compositional skills."

"I have been very happy with the current progress of the tracking of the album up to this point" states Magic Brook. "The progression has been made easier by the new equipment we implemented to further what I am looking for in this next album"

Winter and Magic Brook share unique working relationship in that they know and have mutual respect for each others talents and how best to implement them. "As Brook is tracking we will periodically review his progress until he comes to my studio for mixing" explains Winter. "I advise Brook on mic and pre-amp choices and mic placement while Brook tracks to these specifications."

Magic Brook is well known for his alternative/ experimental finger-style acoustic guitar techniques such as the use of percussive slaps, tap guitar, split hands, and also includes techniques not usually associated with finger-style as Flamenco Rasgueados enlivening the 7 musical journeys in the collection. Formerly the guitarist for both Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, Magic Brook's critically acclaimed album "The Source: Two Hands One Guitar" (with Winter on board as the mixing engineer) charted at number 14 and remained in the top 60 category for over 30 consecutive weeks and over 78 weeks overall on the New Age/Ambient/World Radio Charts. The song "12 Long Years" (co-written with Bernie Gilbert) hit #2 on the Broadjam top ten in the Chicago Blues category, while iSound placed Brook's recordings into it's blues radio rotation.

The album to be titled later on is being planned for an early 2013 release.

Aire Libre From Felice Clemente & Javier Perez Forte On Sale March 13th

Aire Libre, the latest release from critically acclaimed Italian saxophonist Felice Clemente and noted Argentine classical guitarist, composer and arranger Javier Perez Forte will be available digitally March 13th on Crocevia di Suoni Records. Utilizing elements of Jazz, Afro, South American and Classical music, this 10-song release is a stunning, instrumental collaboration between two celebrated artists. Aire Libre is the result of Clemente and Perez Forte's open and free conception of music that overcomes limits, stereotypes and barriers. Inspired by a cultural diversity, the album's variety of rhythms, and diverse instrumentation take the listener on a remarkable, global sonic journey. Throughout the Aire Libre, Clemente's superb mastery of the soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone and clarinet establish intricate dialogues with the Perez Forte's inspired classic guitar that communicate powerful emotion without words. "Each of the ten tracks on this CD invites us to live a different state of mind -- not only because of the variety of rhythm but also because of the several colors of sounds suggested by the different instruments," says Clemente. On the track "A Don Agustin Bardi" -- Clemente and Perez Forte's musical prowess creates a subtle, jazz-tinged "conversation" between sultry guitar chords and bright, spirited tenor sax that brings to mind a wise elder speaking with a young, spirited soul. The fluttering, gentle strains of tenor sax on "Chuku" soar like a butterfly lifting up the listener with their lilting progression. While the complex exchange between guitar and saxophone on "Lila," is punctuated by the steady pulse of a metronome. "The several compositions presented in this work do not correspond to pure musical genres. We take Jorge Luis Borges' words and make them our own when we say, "Happily, we don't belong to only one tradition. We can aspire to all of them,'" says Perez Forte. Clemente's previous release, Nuvole di Carta, received four stars from Downbeat Magazine, stating, "Nuvole di Carta is an excellent record that demonstrates that Clemente and his peers deserve wider recognition in the United States." # # # For additional information please visit: www.croceviadisuonirecords.com, www.feliceclemente.com, www.javierperezforte.com About BFM Digital, Inc. "I think the album is a cool blend of different styles." states 4-time Grammy winning producer Randy Miller. "The songs have the common thread of the individual members of the group bringing their own artistic visions to bring about the globally diverse sound of World 5 . Shanren Present "Drinking Song" Video Shot in Southwest China

Earlier this year, Beijing-based indie folk band Shanren (literally "Mountain Men"), traveled across China's Yunnan province to take in and film the rich indigenous musical traditions. The band members, whose own songs mix folk melodies with rock and world music influences, visited rural villages of Yi, Lisu, Nu, Tibetan, and Wa minorities. While joining the villagers in song and dance, they found the music so tied up in the drinking culture-downing copious amounts of the local equivalent of moonshine, fiery homemade liquor distilled from rice or sweet corn-that they turned the boozy footage into the video for their "Drinking Song." 2,000 miles southwest of Beijing and home to 26 of China's 55 official ethnic minority tribes, Yunnan is thought to be the inspiration for the fictional Shangri-La of James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon. As the home province for three members of Shanren (the fourth is from neighboring Guizhou), the remote and colorful province, tucked between Tibet and Southeast Asia, continues to inspire artists. Based on a Yi minority folk song, the lyrics to "Drinking Song" translate to, "you have to drink whether or not you want to." As the band found, when you're a guest in a rural village, that's pretty much your situation-the hospitality can be overwhelming! Album due out on China's 13 Month record label early next year. The Bethany & Rufus Roots Quartet's Live À Fip CD's strength lies not just in each artist's singular talents, but in their capacity to combine their abilities in a way that complements each member of the group to bring about a sound that is unique and groundbreaking, while incorporating concerns about global injustices, violence, and inequalities. Live À Fip is the product of a world where people and societies are interconnected, converging, and in turmoil.

"A diabolically funky bass is joined by the song of a fulani flute and the cadence of a voodoo drum, and the cello bows under an incantation of the ancestors... a revelation of Les Nuits Atypiques Festival of Langon and the love at first listen of studio 105 of Radio France, the folk duo Bethany & Rufus have transformed themselves into a post-modern quartet for an evening of spellbinding music." - MONDOMIX

About Bethany And Rufus Roots Quartet
Bethany as the daughter of legendary 60's Folk singer Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul & Mary) draws from the many songs that her father collected as part of the seminal folk movement of the 60s. Yacouba has dug deeply into the folkloric Hausa, Djerma, Peul and Songhai traditions of Niger and Bonga is the descendant of a very rich lineage of Vodou ceremonial drumming and song. Bonga has also traveled extensively through Haiti collecting and learning the different manifestations of Haitian song and folklore. Rufus has taken the cello into previously unknown realms and is noted for his collaborations in African, Arabic, and American music forms and also has a solo CD Songs for Cello on the Daqui label. Individually all of the members of the group have been instrumental in expanding the role of traditional forms in their respective musics. It is with this background that they have come together to create a sound that although based around the song forms of American traditional music reaches back to a common root that has inspired everyone involved.

Bethany and Rufus Roots Quartet - Iraq

The wait is over! Bethany and Rufus Roots Quartet's new CD "Live A Fip" - released in Europe - is a master collaboration between the group Bethany and Rufus (Bethany Yarrow and Rufus Cappadocia), Haitian Percussionist 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste, and singer/flautist Yacouba Moumouni. The CD gets its name from the "Live A Fip" radio series, where they were invited to perform while doing a promotional spot for Radio France. The song "Iraq" is one that will touch your emotions, arouse your senses, and open your heart and mind to an experience beyond measure. Cappadocia's cello sings out, cries out, imploring you to listen. It is a very powerful track indeed, conveying the sorrow and plight of an impoverished, enraged land. The erratic, aggressive cello playing over soft acoustic guitar, gets the song's point across without uttering a single word.

Iraq by Bethany & Rufus Roots Quartet

"The level of musical brilliance reached by Rufus Cappadocia in "Iraq" left me speechless. His cello becomes reminiscent of mournful sorrow and wailing cry that extracts emotion like nothing else. This instrumental piece highlights both music and musician at their best..."

One reviewer describes "Live A Fip," as "like nothing you've ever heard before. Styles from everywhere and anywhere come together seamlessly. One hears distinctly Afro-Cuban rhythms pop under driving bass lines, folksy lyrics and screaming flute. "Death Don't Have No Mercy" is particularly characteristic of this mixing and meshing. The cello is inescapably funky, the bongos complexify the rhythms, the flute line seethes with fiery reverberance, and Bethany's vocals lament the world in a way that only American folk music can."
