The number one album on iTunes and Amazon World Music Charts and number two on Billboard New Age Charts, Songs for the Sangha is now being released to radio with a special radio edit of the single Strong My Roots and an additional 2015 radio version of their world famous hit, Gayatri Mantra.
With over 300,000 social media fans and a celebrity fan base that includes everyone from Cher to the Dalai Lama, Deva Premal & Miten saw their version of the Gayatri Mantra covered by Cher on her Farewell Tour of 2003, with the track featured in the Warner Music DVD.
Coinciding with the release of the new album, and the single Strong My Roots, in an interview with The Insider Edition, Deva Premal and Miten explained that their mantra origins, with hits such as the Gayatri Mantra, have strengthened their following within the world-wide yoga community and are now reaching out to a wider audience.
Miten said, "When Mantras are sung, you are invoking a certain quality into your life...mantras find us...they become good friends in times of stress - and in today's troubled world, they are a great support. That's why we are reaching out."
Deva Premal explained that the new song, whilst also containing English lyrics has the same healing effect, celebrating the roots and wings of life, because it includes the ancient Sanskrit chant, Om Ganapati Mantra "...it is vital in our existence to have a connection to both polarities..."
Miten continued, "We tried to reflect the concept of roots and wings in the song, in the swampy funk of the instrumentation...and in the great banusri solo (Indian bamboo flute), played by the maestro Manose, which takes us to the heavens...!"
The new single Strong My Roots, is being delivered to radio stations across America this week, in a radio friendly edit, along with a 2015 radio edit of the classic Gayatri Mantra.
