Announcing 'Music E-Blast,' A Direct And Economical Way For Artists To Reach New Fans

Website: http://www.mi2n.com/services/mi2n_IMB.php3

New York and Ft. Lauderdale (July 19, 2010) - Musicians are always looking for ways to increase their fan base. With MySpace's popularity teetering out and Facebook becoming overcrowded and cost-prohibitive on which to advertise, email marketing remains an effective and economical way for both artists and labels to reach a targeted group of potential fans.

Mi2N, the largest and oldest online music industry newswire, has partnered with Inside the Music Business (IMB) to introduce 'Music E-Blast,' an email marketing service allowing artists and labels to reach music fans of their particular genre. In conjunction with IMB's sister company Local Adzine, Mi2N is now offering email campaigns reaching 25,000 genre-specific fans to help promote everything from music releases to events & tours. 'Music E-Blast' can reach fans of virtually every genre of music, including Country, Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, Dance/Electronica, Jazz, Classical, and Folk-Americana to name a few.

Mi2N and IMB also announced that Oseao Media Group, a digital music distributor, licensing and publishing company, would be the first affiliate partner, offering 'Music E-Blast' and other Mi2N PR marketing packages to its artists and labels.

"For musicians, Music E-Blast is like shooting a bull's-eye," says IMB Founder and President Eric Kline. "They can take their message and directly reach people who already have a proclivity to want to check them out."

Next to music video and radio, 'Music E-Blast' is a great play for an artist to reach 25,000 potentially new fans. The people who are emailed have already identified themselves as fans of your genre. Whether it's a press release announcement of an EP or CD release, a tour, or just a continuing effort to increase followers and fans, Music E-Blast, has enormous potential.

"While email marketing has been part of corporate and small business marketing's arsenal for years, the independent music community has largely missed out on its potential," noted MusicDish President Eric de Fontenay. "Email marketing is not just a great way to reach your fans, but it can be particularly effective when used in conjunction with social media marketing."

Kline says the service can be expanded to reach millions of fans. "We have music databases with millions of subscriber email addresses in most of the major genres. We can reach a broad range of people around the country or we can target it to a specific city or state. There are amazing opportunities for artists to use the service."

Get Busy Living. Start Making Music

Website: http://www.YouMusic.com

Sometimes we postpone our passions to such a degree that life passes us by without us following our dreams and desires. Days go by, weeks go by, months go by, and years go by. Are we living the life we want to live? Are we making music the way we want to? Or too busy doing minor things and not focus on our real passions which drives us from within. If your passion and dream is to make music then get busy doing it than delay another day

Its all fine to say that, then how does one go about doing it?

Bite Size Tasks â€" Break It Down
First of all it is key to recognize that even if its a surmountable goal, we break it down into simple manageable tasks. Say for instance, your dream is to be able to play the piano so you can play it as your main instrument or accompany yourself while singing or compose on it. If you haven't already mastered it then the first step is to take appropriate lessons. What can you do today towards that goal? Maybe find a piano teacher near you or write down ways to save or make money for the piano lessons. If you are already in a band and creating songs, then create a business plan for your band promotion, or find ways to promote your band online to find new fans. If you have already created a CD, then find ways to network offline and online to get your music heard one fan at a time. It all starts with one fan getting to know your music and passionately spreading the power of your music to the world. Never ever underestimate the power of your fans

Do, Learn, and Do Until You Achieve
Thirty years from now, we will be regretful of the things we did not do or didn't even attempt than by the things we did do or even tried and failed. But then there are no failures in life only learning experiences. If that's the case its a win/win situation to try and do things we are passionate about. If and when we so call 'fail', we simply discover what doesn't work for us so we 'learned' something in the process then we won anyway. If we managed to achieve what we wanted to in the first place then its a win situation also. If we didn't, then we change our approach and do it again, until we achieve what we need to achieve.

Do It Today â€" Get Momentum
The power of acting on your dreams is key to get things in motion. We get so much energy by being in motion. Moving. Doing. Performing. When you go dancing don't you get that feeling of joyful bliss of being in that moment of movement? When you stay in one place, there is no motion. Things are still. Not moving. Not moving forward. Stagnant. What you can do today, towards your making music dreams do it today. Even if its a small task. Especially if its a small task. That will give you the momentum you need to propel forward. When you begin a task, you feel a small victory in your mind. When you do a bit more the next day you have these small 'baby victories' in your mind to move forward even more. When you place your music on a download site for sale, and you see that one fan had bought your music it gives you a sense of satisfaction that you touched that fan enough for them to invest in your music. You continue with your online promotion you find that you have fans listening and buying your music. This will inspire you to create more music. Not just because of the financial rewards but the emotional rewards of knowing that you have touched another human being via your music.

Keep Your Focus â€" Never Lose Sight Of Your Goal
When you are 100% focused on your goal, you become very powerful. No one can deter you from your goal. You are locked into your target destination. If you find yourself deviating from your target goal, you will realize and be aware that you are slightly or significantly off your track and you will adjust yourself back on track. Life may throw challenges at you and you will be challenged at times with the usual resource constraints of finances, lack of time and the usual perceived constraints we are all faced with. If you are not focused and not locked into your target goal, it is very easy for external influences or challenges to throw you off track and keep you off track because you are not grounded into your passionate goals. But when you have your goal locked in, then its hard for the challenging elements to get to you. You are determined. Your intention becomes so powerful that you will not give up. When your intention is 100% of what you really want in your life, then all the energies you need are on your side. You will rarely self-sabotage yourself when you are true to your passions and have your 100% intentions for your lifetime desires/goals. Never let your dreams die. Because your dreams are your wings which will fuel you and give you the strength to fly on your journey to your soul satisfaction

So get busy living the life you were born to live, your best life. The best of you, so we can hear your music when you start making music and when you share with us â€" the rest of the world. Get busy making music at the same time enjoy the journey to your musical creations. Never give up on your dreams, ever.

Hip Hop Producer REL!G!ON Inks Deal With Planet Asia

Website: http://www.religionbeats.com/
Music: http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/song_details/3494440?play_now=true

"Get Rel!g!on" is the current rally cry surrounding the latest hip hop producer, who's already began dazzling artists and record labels with his skilled creations and innovative beats. Utilizing a fascinating mix of live playing and assorted sampling, the young producer from Vancouver, British Columbia is generating buzz in Canada as well as the U.S. Rel!g!on is already releasing his own material, as well as working with other artists to build his reputation as a bona fide hit machine in the hip hop game.

Released in January 2010, his first official release, Revelationz I garnered positive attention from reviewers and fans across the web. Featuring heavy hitters such as Chuck D of Public Enemy as well as Planet Asia and Moka Only, Rel!g!on's first record was nothing short of an instant hip hop success. His inspired, imaginative tracks laid the foundation for ultra skilled MCs to spit their finest rhymes and create memorable, catchy songs.

"Rel!g!on has a nice sound to his production, and it shouldn't be too much longer before his congregation of followers grows," said Emmanuel Wallace of RapReviews.com on Revelationz I.

Born in Ottawa, Rel!g!on grew up listening to his father's musical influence, which included a variety of instruments, singing, and an extensive record collection. Fascinated by keyboards and organs, the fledgling hip hop perfectionist began experimenting with records and a Casio SK 1, beginning the journey of honing his incredible skills. While he started with an old keyboard and entertaining diss tracks about his high school classmates, Rel!g!on rapidly progressed into a respected producer working with artists from Vancouver to New York.

The future is bright for Rel!g!on, as he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, with a number of impressive projects currently in the works for hip hop fans across North America. He produced two tracks on Planet Asia's upcoming record Black Belt Theatre, which also features Raekwon, DJ Babu, Evidence, Ras Kass and will be at the helm for Planet Asia's entire next full length, slated for 2011. This summer will also see the anticipated release of a collaboration record between Rel!g!on and one of Pittsburgh's finest MCs, Jasiri X and New Orleans own Dain. Check out his MySpace page for music videos and streaming audio, and facebook.com/religionbeatz for the latest information and updates.

MarilynMusic In The Studio With Jonny Rosch, Dorie Colangelo & D. Magic

Music: http://fairtilizer.com/track/120689

By Eric de Fontenay

Songwriters, composers and producers Casey Conrad and Michael Gaines of MarilynMusic hooked up at the Vertical Room in NYC over the last couple of weeks to work on four new tracks with several artists, including Dorie Colangelo and lead singer/front man for the legendary Blues Brothers Band, Jonny Rosch

"Love's Not The Same After You" is a mid-tempo rock song which showcases Dorie Colangelo vocals. The sultry crooner sings about love in an honest and pure tone and lamenting strings drive home her message. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter recently released her album "63rd Street Recordings." Casey, who produced the album with Joanne Perica, also played the drums and bass.

Casey & Michael work on "Some Girls" - a Sugar Ray style, easy-going blues track perfect to the coming summertime season. Jonny also leads his own band, Jonny Rosch and Friends, which include members from Rod Stewart's band, Steely Dan, Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, the Late Night with David Letterman band, the Saturday Night Live Band, and the Max Weinberg 7 (Late Show with Conan O'Brian), Smokey Joe's Cafe, Riverdance.

The duo also finished mixing a hot new single titled 'I'ma B A Celebrity' featuring up-and-coming Hip-Hop and R&B musician Devyn Of D. Magic. The track will be released digitally by MarilynMusic this summer.

New Revenue Streams For Artists

Shoutomatic is best described as an audible Tweet where you can record and then broadcast an actual voice message to be "heard" within your Facebook status updates as well as across all social networks and web spaces. Using ShoutOmatic is a much more compelling and engaging proposition versus that of a 140 character text message; especially for Fans of Artists and Celebrities that most believe an intern is typing them.

Artists can Shout-Out about upcoming gigs, album drops, TV appearances, charity events, etc. The ShoutOmatic platform is FREE and easy to use and is available right now at http://ShoutOmatic.com.

Celebrities, at their option, and for any desired dollar amount, can offer their Fans "Personal Shouts" to "buy". Fans can order Personal Shouts for themselves or as a gift and is more lucrative for the Artist than selling Albums. ex: "Hey Norm, it's Chuck D giving you a Happy Birthday Shout! Bring the Noise this coming year and tell your friends Chuck D says Hello!"

Furthermore, with ShoutOmatic, you can "Follow" other people, Re-Shout other Shouts, Shout-Back to other shouts and Direct-Message (DM) audibly to each other.

Zimbalam's Digital Music Distribution Service Launches In North America

Website: http://www.zimbalam.com

Paris, France - March 11, 2010 - Zimbalam, the largest digital music distribution and marketing network, today announced the launch of the US version of its distribution network. Zimbalam, owned by independent music distributor and service provider Believe Digital, provides artists with access to 25 of the most popular music stores such as iTunes and Spotify and unprecedented global reach through several hundred additional stores worldwide.

Zimbalam delivers transparency and marketing control to artists with real-time daily sales data, CRM tools such as email newsletters and social networking promotional widgets. Zimbalam's widgets make global marketing easy by automatically detecting a person's location and then promoting to the most popular music stores for that region.

To maximize artist revenues, Zimbalam simply charges an industry-low annual fee so artists can keep 100% of royalties. Zimbalam's nominal fee is $29.99 in year one then $19.98 per year after for an EP or album. Once the fee is recouped, artists keep 100% of royalties generated from sales. After the initial year, artists are only charged if they have sold enough music to cover the low fees, essentially eliminating financial risk.

To celebrate the South by Southwest (SXSW.com) festival, Zimbalam is offering a special rate through the end of March, with distribution of the first album at a reduced rate of $5.99. Artists taking advantage of the special rate can effectively start making money after only one album is sold. Artists can take advantage of this offer by using the code SXSW when signing up at www.zimbalam.com.

"With Zimbalam, our goal is to bring the largest distribution network, the strongest marketing tool set and the greatest revenue potential, all at the lowest price point, to the US independent music community, " said Believe Digital and Zimbalam CEO Denis Ladegaillerie. "We want to make sure that independent artists have the chance to not just realize the best business opportunities, but also to realize the opportunity to break through on a global basis."

Bridging the gap between the independent music community and major labels, Zimbalam also gives artists with breakout potential the opportunity to benefit from the A&R team of parent company Believe Digital (www.believedigital.com). Artists with strong performance on the Zimbalam network are assigned a personal A&R manager to provide valuable advice and support on release strategy, marketing and promotion investment and to ensure they are receiving the greatest exposure while maximizing monetization opportunities.

The Seven Essentials To Writing A Press Release

By Michele Wilson-Morris
(more articles from this author)
2009-11-29

Working in the music industry has its perks, privileges, and pains as anyone who works in it knows. No matter what your genre is, one thing remains the same for all artists: You need to bring attention to yourself, your music, and your events. And while there are several ways to do so, few are as effective (in terms of cost or exposure) as a well written press release.

Writing a press release may prove to be a challenge to those whose focus is solely on their musical ability and efforts, but it doesn't have to be. There's an art to writing a good press release just like there's an art to making good music. In fact, a well written press release is simply you on paper. There are many tricks to the trade, and I'm going to share some of several of them with you: The Seven Essentials of Press Release Writing.

Essential #1: "Who, What, When, Where, and Why?"
A good press release must clearly convey who is doing what and when, where it's happening, and why. Your target audience is much more likely to be responsive if you included answers to all of the above. When I write press releases for Mi2N-PRESS, I never leave room for "guesswork." Plain and simple: If people have to guess about any information that should be included in the press release, then you haven't done your work.

Essential #2: "Less Is More"
When you're writing a press release and answering the what, where, when and why, remember that less is more. Not less information, but fewer words. Short, detailed sentences are best. Think about it. If you're running from one performance to another, meeting with your agent, writing lyrics or music, talking with your promoter AND trying to squeeze 3 square meals, family, and far too few hours of sleep into your the day as most of us are, then you know that time is precious. Your press release should take into account the fact people are a lot less likely to read a press release that's much longer than one page. As President Thomas Jefferson said, "The most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do." And if neither of those reasons convinces you, just know this: media professionals (like most of us) are fundamentally lazy. They don't want to do any more research than they have to.

Essential #3: "The Early Bird Gets The Worm"
If you haven't grabbed your target audience's attention by the end of paragraph one, you've probably lost the opportunity to do so. People simply don't have time to wait for fluff. If they want more information than what you've given them in the first paragraph about that CD that you are releasing in January, 2010 in Europe (because you performed live on a famous radio show and were so well liked, the rest was history), then you've put out a good "hook" and now they've "taken the bait". Now you need to "real them in."

Essential #4: "Thou Shalt Not Lie"
One thing that writers and music professionals are able to do is to quickly spot a press release that has been, shall we say "highly exaggerated". It's just as important to be known for being credible than it is for making great music. Submitting a press release that contains false or misleading information is just as bad as lip syncing at your "live performance." If you don't believe me, just ask Milli Vanilli.

Essential #5: "Spice, Please"
Use audio and video links whenever possible. While press releases are most certainly a business document, that doesn't mean it has to be a boring document. Capture your reader's attention with a photograph or an audio URL. People like to be entertained. We like our food, cars, and homes to be aesthetically pleasing, and we like our press releases that way as well.

Essential #6: "Quotes: He Said, She Said...
One way to infuse life into your press release is to incorporate a quote. Find a good quote that is relevant to your press release and use it. Remember the favorable press you received by that infamous reviewer who has critiqued your CD or been to your concert and written about it favorably? Dig it out, and quote them. It's an endorsement of you and your music.

Essential #7: "In The Beginning..."
The title of your press release is especially important as it is the first thing one sees and the scale that will be used to measure their interest in actually reading your press release or moving on to the next one. A good title is as important as having an M.C. who can get the crowd fired up about you before you even hit the stage. It has to be both interesting and informative.

Obviously, a lot of work goes into writing a great press release. But it's definitely within your reach if you utilize the essentials outlined above. With online marketing being more important than ever before because of social networking sites, blogs, and countless other sources of music buzz, you have to put your best foot forward with your press release. It's your connection to your audience: conveying your brand, your music, and your story. It's also important to have it distributed to your target audience and as many appropriate sites as possible within the industry. Choose your distribution service carefully. Make sure that they have a reputation for being a trusted news source and a large enough dissemination to make it worth your investment.

Quite applicable to this topic, I'll leave you with this quote: "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult." Seneca (3 BC - 65 AD)

Ludovico Einaudi, Robert Lippok, Ronald Lippok Release Cloudland CD

Opening Your Imagination to the Cloudland of Whitetree

Pianist Extraordinaire Ludovico Einaudi joins the Lippoks on a futuristic journey

@ LE POISSON ROUGE, NEW YORK - JUNE 2
@ HOTEL CAFΙ, LOS ANGELES - JUNE 6

Against all odds, pianist Ludovico Einaudi has emerged as one of the world's most exciting and beloved voices in contemporary classical/ ambient/electronic music. Living during a time where modern sensibilities are marketed as easily manufactured (and easily forgettable) pop hits, Einaudi stands tall as a passionate purveyor of his lifelong muse. None of this implies that the Milan resident is without knowledge of the present: his latest collaboration -- Whitetree, with brothers Ronald and Robert Lippok -- is an important contribution to the century-old search for the merging of classical and electronic music. Considering Einaudi's recent accolades, such as being the only classical artist invited to perform at the European iTunes Festival, Whitetree's success is guaranteed.

The trio's debut, Cloudland (Ponderosa Music & Arts/Harmonia Mundi) is an exciting blend of Einaudi's gorgeously refined aesthetics on piano set against Ronald Lippok's sympathetic and knowledgeable rhythms on drums (not to mention the magic he creates on marimba and keyboards), as well as brother Robert's wizardry with electronics -- the brothers are two-thirds of the Berlin and Dusseldorf-based palindromic post-rock group To Rococo Rot. Meeting in 2006 when Einuadi invited the Lippoks on an Italian tour, collaboration seemed necessary and, as one can hear on every one of Cloudland's ten tracks, effortless.

Whitetree has been born into an important musical heritage, one professed by musical experimenters such as Erik Satie's minimalist efforts and "bare bones" sounds, Luigi Russolo's search for the "art of noise" (in which music is differentiated from noise by its purposive arrangement), Jorg Mager's love of microtones and the invention of his "voice of the spheres," and later Edgard Varθse, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Indeed, that last contemporary's film work recalls Einaudi's own cinematic efforts, such as his soundtrack work for Fuori Dal Mondo and This is England. Perhaps these three men, upon entering the Berlin studio in 2007-08, set out to champion the message of conductor Leopold Stowkowski: "Soon we shall have entirely new methods of tone production by electrical means. Thus will begin a new era of music."

One certainly feels that listening to Cloudland in the comfort of their headphones, or snuggled into a warm space encompassed by crisp speakers from which these artists speak. The surround-sense experience is gripping: the opening "Slow Ocean," a reverberating, lo-fi echo creeps into a synthesized dreamscape before Einaudi's first notes take hold; instantly one is hypnotized. It is the type of song -- indeed, this is the type of album -- that holds the listener in its spell. When the drums finally emerge on "Kyril," the release is rapturous; this is the ecstatic union of classical temperament with technology, an audio textbook of generations bonding. When one is aware of history, one can write it into the future -- this is Whitetree's great gift.

To pigeonhole Einaudi would be fruitless. While classical music is his foundation, he is no less educated in that fine line where popular music meets film meets radio play. His contribution to "Kyril" hints at this, as does the simple and direct melody of "Mercury Sands." His sense of timing is superb, as when he hangs a half-beat behind his piano with the guitar on "Koepenik" every step of the way. The naturalness in their music was the result of time well spent on the road and a natural camaraderie formed between the three, as Robert says:

"We played as a band. Always live, always in one room. With just a few overdubs. We wanted it to be as natural as possible. This is what made mixing the record so adventurous. We had so many takes of our songs to go through! Going into the studio together was very special. Our tour had been quite ‘loud,' full-on. Recording the material, we had the chance to add some quiet ideas as well."

These quieter moments are of equal merit. "Derek's Garden," with its haunting effects reminiscent of one trudging along the interior of a dark castle that he or she was not invited to, calmed by the sensuous strains of Einaudi's ivory. The playfully titled "Ulysses and the Cats" also exhibits those reflective, internal qualities, reminding one of the mythological inspiration for Einuadi's last solo recording, Divenire: the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, with the famous maxim attributed to him: everything is in a state of flux. One can claim this to be a headline for all of Einaudi's projects, Whitetree contributing the most recent and possibly most versatile to his vast catalog. Given the fluidity by which the album was recorded, Einaudi seems to agree:

"It all came out very naturally, from the first sessions in the rehearsal room. Listening and concentrating to sounds and loops made by Robert and Ronald, sometimes I didn't even know who was making it. I sat at the piano and closed my eyes, entered that space of sounds, and I opened my imagination. It was like searching figures and forms in an abstract painting or pulling out emotions from the clouds. Then we were playing for long, losing ourselves into the music, responding to each other inputs, it was like building castles with the sand, no rules, everything was possible."

This then is the role of the artist: to make real the images and sounds one hears in their imagination. Borrowing its name from the Amos Tutuola novel, The Palm-Wine Drunkard, Whitetree is forging a modern mythology, both very old and rooted in the Western classical tradition as well as up-to-date with the everyday life of our technologically-inclined world. Interestingly, another of Tutuola's novels, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, was the title of the seminal album recorded by Brian Eno and David Byrne in 1981; today it is heralded as the first "world music electronic" album. Perhaps in three decades Whitetree will be seen to have made a similar mark for their important blend of classical and electronic music. With one listen to this album, you will agree.
