(NASHVILLE, TN) September 16, 2015 – Singer-Songwriter Raquel Aurilia released her first music video "Shattered" today – and the visual effects are stunning thanks to the artistry of renowned tattoo artist Brandon Hanna. Raquel's song "Shattered" is brought to life in a stripped down way on video – telling this raw and emotional breakup story even showing the visual aspect of being literally "shattered" throughout the video.
The process of drawing the effects by hand onto Raquel's face and upper torso required her to be very still in the studio for nearly five hours as East Nashville tattoo artist Hanna's work was captured frame by frame. The music video was directed by Darrin Dickerson of Ghostwater Films and shot on-location at the Baker Farm just outside of Nashville.
"Returning to Nashville to shoot the music video was such an amazing experience," says Raquel Aurilia. "The creative process came full circle as we told the song's story through stunning visuals. Being covered in ink by a tattoo artist was an experience I never imagined. I am very proud of my first music video and ‘Shattered' is a powerful song."
Recording Artist Raquel Aurilia is an amazing singer-songwriter who has toured opening for John Waite, B.B. King, Gin Blossoms, Eddie Money, Pat Benatar, Riders in the Sky... and has worked with Grammy Award winning producer Tony Papa (James Brown, Willie Nelson, John Denver) and Gardner Cole (Madonna, Jodi Whatley), as well as Grammy nominated producer Billy Smiley (Johnny Cash, Bebe and Cece Winans) who produced "Shattered" from her album, "Long Way Home". Raquel will perform "Shattered" live in Nashville on Sunday, September 20, 2015 8pm during her songwriter's round at the Belcourt Taps.
Raquel Aurilia's original song "Shattered" was self-penned following the demise of her own high-profile marriage to a professional sports athlete and celebrity -- offering a somewhat autobiographical expression.
"Shattered" is from "Long Way Home", Aurilia's third album and highlights her authentic, powerful talent as a storyteller. It offers a Country/Pop style and features some of Nashville's top studio musicians including: Steve Brewster (drums), Ken Lewis (drums), Byron House (upright bass), Brennan Smiley (guitars), Blair Masters (keyboards), Sal Oliveri (keyboards), and Andy Leftwich (violin) who have recorded with icons such as Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, Brett Eldridge, Amy Grant, Dierks Bentley, Peter Frampton, Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, and Dolly Parton.
Aurilia's music has been featured on MTV's hit series "The Hills," "The City" and "Taking the Stage." Her hit single "Feels Like" from her debut record, "Finding My Way," cracked the ultra-competitive R&R Top 30 AC and Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary charts at #28, and is still receiving national air play today.
