THE BACKSLIDERS REUNITE TO RELEASE RALEIGHWOOD EP

The Backsliders are bringing back their signature ‘Hard Core Honky Tonk’ sound with the release of Raleighwood, the band’s first new recording since 1999. Original members Steve Howell (Guitar), Chip Robinson (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Danny Kurtz (Bass) and Jeff Dennis (Drums) are back and they have picked up right where they lift off, bringing along new member Greg Rice (Keys). This new five song EP hits you right in the gut and leaves a lasting impression - reminding us all why we fell in love with these outlaws in the first place.

Having ushered in their unique alt-country sound on top of their don’t-give-a-damn attitude, The Backsliders defined rock and roll and set the stage for North Carolina’s blossoming nineties music scene. David Menconi of the Raleigh News and Observer described the band as, “fallen angels with grizzled faces” noting that "they've not lost one iota of awesomeness since their mid 90's glory days.” Now more than ever, they are ready to stake their claim. Robinson’s cigarette vocals are grittier than ever and Howell’s intricate guitar stylings merit comparison to something supernatural. The band is a force to be reckoned with.

Raleighwood isn’t the only trick up The Backslider’s sleeve. This fearsome fivesome will be releasing a new music video for their new single “Headlights.” and will also be playing a CD release show Saturday, June 21st at The Pour House Music Hall. They also have two additional shows booked - July 5th at the Eno River Music Festival and July 19th at the Double Door Inn in Charlotte.

In the meantime, check out the group’s website, thebacksliders.net, where you can preview their new material, and find additional information about the band.
