Just "Fix Me" Already! Perhaps The Secret To Our Evolution Lies In Not Taking Ourselves Too Seriously!

http://mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=173919

At least that's singer-songwriter Gail Silverman aka G's take in her newly released video "Fix Me". Directed by young, up and coming Florida Filmmaker, Brad Bryan, "Fix Me" takes a hilarious look at the variety of tactics people utilize when seeking to become more evolved, conscious, aware, healthy, spiritual, and connected.

The song and video take you through a litany of methods one can try get to get to that place of "being fixed". From yoga to gurus, therapy, cleansing, acupuncture, Reiki, 12 steps and more, the viewer is offered a tongue-in-cheek look at each of these experiences.

As a yoga teacher and marketer for "conscious companies", Silverman has personal experience with many of the methods she highlights in her song and video. She also practices several of them on a regular basis and will tell you, "Nope, still not fixed." She also adds, "You can really get wrapped up in all of these things and just end up taking it all too seriously. Sometimes we just need to lighten up and allow the imperfections."

Silverman says, "Writing the song was cathartic and it was a blast making the video and playing the role of the person who is just not quite ‘getting it'. There are so many times in spiritual and new age situations where everyone else seems totally tuned in to all of these amazing experiences and then there are those of us who feel we are just not getting it and thinking, "What am I doing wrong, how do I reach that state of nirvana?" Silverman has found that whatever environment in which she shares the song, and no matter the audience, people really have fun with it and relate to its message. There is something for everyone, so to speak.

The song was initially inspired while Silverman was in her living room, guitar in hand and staring at a book called Feng Shui for Apartment Living. It all just came pouring out! "The funny thing is I could've just kept going with more things, it really is an endless process."

Silverman tries to live by the philosophy that we are all exactly where we need to be in our life journey, but it won't stop us from trying to be better and find that "fix", if only for a moment. "With so many of us trying, thankfully, to live more consciously these days sometimes we just need to relax, enjoy the ride and laugh at it all," she says.

Silverman supports all the methods and practices that were spotlighted in the video and encourages everyone to seek their own path and find what works for them. The hope is people will just enjoy and have a sense of humor about it. In the closing shot Silverman lets out a giggle, yes, offering one more way we can "fix" ourselves: Just lighten up and have a good laugh!

14-YEAR OLD EDDY DAVIS SIGNS ARTIST DEVELOPMENT DEAL

http://mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=173926

Producer, Matty Amendola, and his Brooklyn based incubator, 825 Records, Inc., have signed a Development Deal with 14-year-old singer and musician, Eddy Davis of Daytona Beach, Florida. Eddy may only be 14, but he has been playing guitar for over 10 years and has an authentic style beyond his years, influenced by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and The Eagles; as well as current indie rock bands like Cage The Elephant, JET, and Arctic Monkeys.

Amendola and Eddy met at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in New York City in the summer of 2013. Amendola, a guest counselor, was instantly captivated by Eddy’s vocals late one night at the infamous Cutting Room. “I thought he was a great guitar player, but it was his voice that had something I haven’t heard in a long time. I just prayed he could write songs...and he could” says Amendola. Eddy says, “Matty came over to me when I got off stage and put his card in my hand. He said if I wanted to make a record; he was the producer for me.” Soon after that game-changing meeting, Eddy and Amendola got together at Amendola’s Brooklyn studio and cut two tracks. Eddy says, “The experience was an education. We worked for hours, had a good time and we never got tired of each other!”

As Amendola and Davis work on his highly anticipated debut album, Amendola is doing what he does best, which is crafting the perfect sound with an incredible team; industry veterans and friends including Grammy Award winning Engineer, Butch Jones (The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop) and Mastering Engineer, Hans DeKline (The Pixies, Lisa Loeb, Snoop Dogg). He has also brought in another new talent to help with the mixing, Jake Antelis, who is creating interest in his own right within the industry. Aside from producing, Amendola is supporting Davis with co-writing and additional instrumentation on songs.

Eddy’s aggressive guitar riffs paired with smooth and controlled vocals build to explosive moments of unbridled expression. Running wild across a landscape of clean instrumentation, his guitar solos always find the perfect point to take center stage. His songwriting juxtaposes sweet melodies and driving beats, pulling from influences both traditional and modern. As it stands, his 6 song Album Sampler, demonstrates Eddy’s maturity combining a classic rock sensibility and catchy alternative hooks.

Amendola’s lifetime career in the industry, unique business savvy, and industry wide relationships have already helped land Eddy some major exposure within different areas of the industry including TV - a promo spot on THECOOLTV Network which reaches over 25 million homes nationwide - as well as notice from fashion to instrument manufacturers. Eddy is a brand’s dream and the sponsorships and placements will only continue to grow from here on out.

What can we expect from Eddy Davis’ future? His “real rock and roll” appreciation, unmatched vocals, natural charisma, and burning desire for success all lay the foundation for a massive industry takeover. Or as Davis says, “I want to go play my music around the world. I want to melt faces off.”

Breaking Indie Music (BIM), An Online, All-Genre Artist Community, Launches May 5th. BIM Presents Live Online Sessions In Which Members Have The Opportunity To Pitch Songs.

Why are the founders launching into the deep of an industry abandoned by so many in the last decade to start Breaking Indie Music (BIM)—yet another platform offering opportunities to enhance artists' career efforts?

"Despite all appearances, BIM is actually a nascent tech company," says cofounder Marci Kenon. “We are starting from a point of familiarity, and for us that is artist development and music event production. There are tech opportunities being missed in the music industry because it has been so resistant to the inevitable change that has altered the landscape over the years. ‘Going with the flow’ opens the mind to possibilities that are otherwise overlooked. We are getting glimpses of what can be, and we are positioning ourselves to usher them into reality.”

Kenon believes that Internet and social media provide unprecedented opportunity for artists, but she feels it has to be harnessed properly. “Technology gives a false sense of hope that if I have 1,000 likes and 10,000 followers, I have a flourishing career,” she says shaking her head. “That is simply delusional. Ritch Esra of Music Registry, a strategic partner of this venture, stressed the incredible work ethic necessary for an independent artist to flourish. We see BIM as an extension of the artists’ efforts as well as those of management and booking.”

Recently, Kenon tapped BIM cofounder Alicia Hollins to join her. Hollins is a friend and past business partner with whom she started the Urban Focus Music Foundation (UFMF).

“It's a similar mission,” Hollins says. “Just a different vehicle, broader audience and a broader future on the technology side.” Hollins sighs recalling the humble beginnings of Urban Focus and the enormous effort required to launch the conference. “Make no mistake, BIM is a bootstrap project launched on a wing and a prayer,” she continues. “But that was the case when we started Urban Focus and watched the conference grow from 65 paid registrants the first year to 500 sold out in the second.

“Utilizing a bartered website, a partnership with Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) and an advisory board of executives from the Recording Academy, Wherehouse Entertainment, Discmakers and EMI Music Publishing helped us make that leap. We know the formula, and we know from experience that it works.”

Marci Kenon, BIM co-founder/CEO, grew up in Harlem. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in journalism and International Relations. She has written the hip-hop column and features for Billboard magazine and Launch/Yahoo. She has interviewed Diana Ross, Russell Simmons, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Nelly, Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes), OutKast and Mona Scott-Young, to name a few.

Kenon also produced the documentary “Higher Ground: Voices of Contemporary Gospel Music” and the accompanying CD “Higher Ground: Hip-Hop Reformed & Reborn” with Violet Brown of Strange Music and in partnership with Image Entertainment, an international distributor. Kenon and Brown would team-up again for the production of UrbanFest, a two-day event held at USC and featuring performances by over 30 acts including Boyz II Men, Seal Paul, Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Wailing Souls, Common, and DJ Quik.

Alicia Hollins, BIM co-founder/COO, produced a popular local L.A. cable show entitled “Hot Buttered Soul” giving aspiring performing artists exposure. As the Creative Director of an independent music publishing company, Hollins coordinated with film directors and music producers and guided a production team of songwriters, artists, and musicians to create and record original songs for the company.

Hollins most recently founded THE EIGHT, a non-profit organization providing business consultation and professional tools to teens and adults who aspire to become successful entrepreneurs. Those affordable tools include full-color business cards and post cards as well as state-of-the-art websites to help transform “hobbies” into lucrative careers. Hollins has custom-designed over 300 websites for startups and small businesses.
