Indie distributor, label and publisher Cinq Music has partnered with Multi-Platinum American rock band TRAPT to release a new single with visionary rapper An0maly. The signing and new song were announced by Cinq Senior VP of A&R Marcus Spence. Titled, COME TOGETHER, the single, along with accompanying video will be available Friday, November 16 on all major digital music outlets. TRAPT's previous label was Warner Bros.

"TRAPT is an uncompromising rock band embraced by millions of fans in these tense and anxious times," says Spence. "Their song catalog is strong and passionate, yet always full of reflection. The band's inspiring lyrics and powerful message promote positive change through music. I'm so excited to make them my first project at Cinq." TRAPT is probably best known for their 2002 hit ‘Headstrong,' which topped the Billboard rock chart and peaked in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200.

According to TRAPT founder and frontman Chris Taylor Brown, the new song COME TOGETHER is a unifying anthem for the US, and possibly the world. "Come Together is all about love and positivity," says Brown. I am tired of the hate, division, and negativity in America. I wanted to make a song that would hopefully unite and help the great American society at large. Adds An0maly, "This song is aimed at reminding people that regardless of their skin color, religion, or political beliefs, life would be better for all of us if we stop being so divisive, nasty and stubborn."

The Union Of Sinners And Saints Releases 'Independence Day'

The Union of Sinners and Saints, a band featuring Petra's lead singer John Schlitt and Whiteheart founding member Billy Smiley, is bringing back an oldie, but a goodie with a new recording of the No. 1 hit "Independence Day." The remake, originally from Whiteheart's popular "Powerhouse" album, was produced by Smiley and features Schlitt's distinctive vocals. The single, which is being released today, is going for adds at Christian Rock and Christian CHR-formatted radio stations.

Jeff Van Driel, CEO and Founder of Suite 28c Records, commented "Whiteheart and Petra were a big part of what formed my musical taste growing up in a small rural town in Canada and this album combines the best of what made those groups so special. It is truly an honor for Suite 28c to represent The Union of Sinners and Saints and hope that this record reaches many with its message."

"Independence Day" is from the eponymously-titled CD of ten original songs and updated versions of Petra's Beyond Belief and Whiteheart's Indy Day, set for release on June 17 and available for preorder now on iTunes. In addition to Schlitt and Smiley, the band features Whiteheart bassist Anthony Sallee, Jason Fowler, Jon Knox and Jonathan Crone.

Though a new band, The Union of Sinners and Saints combines members from two of the best-selling Christian rock bands in history. Petra and Whiteheart collectively have sold more than 12 million records, charted 25 No. 1 songs and garnered numerous Grammy and Dove Awards. In addition to the musical histories, the band also merges the friendship between Schlitt and Smiley.

"John and I got together last Fall and started writing some songs and discussed both of our histories and journeys," Smiley said. "After seeing the chemistry and friendship that developed, we were excited with the new material we were creating, and started brainstorming about taking this out on the road this year."

"It only made sense to feature Petra and Whiteheart favorites along with some of the new songs we were writing in the studio." said Schlitt. "We realized we had a lot of new ideas swirling around in our heads that we wanted to share, both musically and lyrically, songs that were on our hearts and minds. And yet we also wanted to celebrate with all of our friends and fans some of the memorable songs, moments, and performances that they have been a part of over the years.

"The album and live events," Schlitt said, "will incorporate the kind of artistry and ministry that will remind (fans) of the early years of Christian Rock, but also usher in a new energy and excitement."

The Union of Sinners and Saints currently is touring throughout North America in support of the new music.

The Blue Danes Release Highly Anticipated Debut Album "Invisible And Untouchable"

Cedar Falls-based alt-rock band, The Blue Danes have released their debut album "Invisible and Untouchable" on Chicago label Loki Valhalla Productions. This haunting lyrical masterpiece includes the highly anticipated release of the popular single 'Beautiful and Sad' which has earned over 24,000 YouTube views.

Formed after the breakup of the local alt-rock band Toast, ex-bassist Shaun Courbat and ex-guitarist Frank Hansen partnered with veteran drummer Skip Lowe to form The Blue Danes. Produced by GRAMMY® nominated producer Tom Tatman (Stone Sour), Invisible and Untouchable is a lyrical and composition masterpiece that will give you goosebumps.

Shifting Shape of Alternative Rock Music: Shy Shape

Rock music exploded on the scene in the 1950's with Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock" and the British Invasion of 1962 spearheaded by The Beatles. It has since morphed through eras including progression and punk to arrive at one of its current manifestations, that of alternative rock. The subgenre has in turn spawned its own proliferation of styles, and it can be tough for new bands to find their place in the mix. New Jersey based Shy Shape enters the fray with its own spin on doom-wop. Their sound retains the 50's style rhythms mixed with dark chords and gloomy lyrics pioneered by supergroup Mr. Heavenly, but amps up the dance factor. "We create music for those times when you become so emotional--maybe even broken down--that you just have to get up and move," says Shy Shape founder and lead singer Mike Dugan.

Shy Shape is carving its niche in the alternative rock landscape by juxtaposing the energy of the genre's early days against modern reflections on the ups and downs of life. In kindergarten Dugan performed The Cavalier's "Last Kiss" in front of his entire school. Based on a true story, the song expresses the pain and longing of a lover left behind when his beloved is killed in a car accident in which he is the driver. The tragic account plays out over a haunting, yet danceable beat. In real life the driver, his date, and another teen were killed, while two other teens were seriously injured. The song reflects the outpouring of grief from a whole town about the accident, one of many that occurred on the same heavily trafficked stretch of highway.

For Dugan, performing "Last Kiss" in kindergarten set the tone for what Shy Shape is about. "It helps to sing about heartbreak," he says, "and sometimes to get through it you have to dance." Shy Shape's music infuses garage-rocker sensibilities with the hushed, smooth tones of the doo-wop era. The band recently released its debut EP, Out at Night on Noisy Poet Records / Sony Music Entertainment's The Orchard. The EP features the single "River City", an energetic payback song about failed relationships from the past. Much of the band's material is inspired by its members' life experiences.

While the concept of doom-wop may not be original to Shy Shape, singing and dancing in the face of life's edgier moments seems to resonate with fans. The band performs regularly in front of enthusiastic crowds around the Philadelphia and New Jersey music scene. And, contrary to its nonconformist roots, alternative rock continues to be a platform for creative expression that resonates with a broad and growing spectrum of fans.

"Rock continued to be the #1 genre for Album sales, with nearly 33% of all album sales coming from the Rock genre." (2015 Nielsen Music U.S. Report)

Defying alternative rock's anti-mainstream origins, many bands have climbed the charts to huge commercial success, among them R.E.M., Nirvana, Green Day, and more recently, Coldplay. The trend continues. Earlier this year relative newcomer pop rock / pop baroque band Panic at the Disco reached No. 1 on Billboard's US weekly album chart, beating out Adele's "25." Their achievement continues to shape the evolving landscape of alternative rock music in favor of more mainstream recognition for up-and-coming bands like Shy Shape.

Noughts and Exes to Release Album Globally

http://mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=179459

Noughts and Exes is set to release their self-titled album to the US & Global Markets on December 1st. "Noughts and Exes" will be available through CD Baby, Amazon and iTunes with a special Cyber Monday launch. Noughts and Exes is the critically acclaimed indie folk rock band out of Hong Kong that TIME Magazine named one of the "Top 5 Bands to Watch" in 2011. Noughts and Exes is the brain child of Joshua Wong, who first started the band in its original incarnation in 2007. They went through several lineup changes and have settled on an eclectic international mix of talented musicians. Wong is originally from Australia and moved to Hong Kong at age 16 after visiting and being positively impacted by the culture. He started playing music a few years later at age 19 because he wanted to start a band that stayed around in the ever changing Hong Kong music scene. Noughts and Exes came to be in large part because the culturally diverse nature of the Indie music scene lends itself to the collaborative process.

Bigger Picture
The current Noughts and Exes lineup consists of Joshua Wong, guitar/vocals (Australia), Gideon So, keyboard (Canada), Alex Bedwell, drums (UK), and Alix Farquhar, vocals/percussion/glockenspiel (UK). The essence of the band is truly an international mish mash - and it works beautifully. The band members all bring their own life experiences to the table and the Third Culture aspect of Hong Kong contributes almost as another voice. These four talents from all over the world converged in a city that is rich in Asian heritage and has a major Western influence - not wholly one or the other. The climate was ripe for Noughts and Exes to become a part of the growth and excitement of the Indie music scene; writing about their lives and cultural observations to tell stories of people all their own. Now they are sharing with the rest of the world.

"We have always wanted to get our music are wider international audience, firstly because we just believe in the music and would love to share with as many people as possible, but also because we really believe there is some great independent music coming out of Asia and are excited to share that with the rest of the world." (Joshua Wong)

Heart to Hearts
The band has indeed started reaching the rest of the world - their performance video "Hearts" was filmed in Hong Kong’s Times Square to showcase the Indie music scene. It was shot with the help of numerous other musicians and gives good insight into how a coming together of talents can work in the face of challenge. The piece was never meant to be a commentary on how public artistic expression is stifled in Hong Kong, but it has become just that, with over 70,000 hits on YouTube in the first week. The global launch of their new album ties in perfectly with the international point of view Noughts and Exes has. They know that telling stories of people has nothing to do with where you live - it’s all about reaching out across the miles and touching mankind.

Andy Fraser To Appear In BBC2 Documentary Series "I'm In A Rock 'N' Roll Band"

Website: http://www.andyfraser.com
Music: http://www.andyfraser.com/bigone.html

Narrated by British music show anchor, Mark Radcliffe, "I'm in a Rock 'N' Roll Band examines some of the greatest bands in the history of rock 'n' roll from the perspective of the singers and musicians who were part of them. Highlighted bands include the Who, Free, the Doors, Bon Jovi, the Foo Fighters and others.
Executive producer Mark Cooper was recently quoted in Variety talking about the show: "We've captured over 100 interviews with rock 'n' roll greats while making this series, from Sting, Roger Daltrey and Jon Bon Jovi talking about what it means to be lead singer, to Jeff Beck and Slash on the role of the guitarist and interviews with drummers Phil Collins and Chad Smith. It's crammed with great stories, brilliant archives and graphics that bring the mythological moments of the great rock' n' roll bands to life."
The series is scheduled to culminate in a live studio setting where fans will discuss their favorite musicians and create the "the ultimate fantasy band." Viewers will be able to cast a vote for their ultimate rock 'n' roll musician online.
Fraser states: "It was a real kick to be able to participate in this show. It is great to get the thoughts and humor of so many mutually respected musicians all talking about a rock band from the perspective of its individual members."

Currently, Fraser is busy preparing for the release his next album, Andy Fraser...On Assignment, on the new, McTrax Music Delivery System, a streaming / delivery, download music / video service (subdivision of McTrax International). The first single and video from the project is "This is the Big One," an anthem which focuses attention on the subject of global climate change. Fraser recently had one of his bass guitars go on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, while his daughter, Hannah, who appears as a mermaid in "This Is The Big One," has face time in the recent Academy Award-winning documentary film, The Cove.

About Andy Fraser:

Andy Fraser has a unique place in the canon of rock 'n' roll. In the late 1960's, under the guidance of Alexis Korner and John Mayall - both "Godfather's" of the British blues scene - Fraser, a classically trained pianist, revolutionized the art of bass playing by harnessing the raw energy of the blues, re-energizing it with a hard rock edge for a new generation of listeners.

As a founding member of Free, Fraser helped to draft the blueprint for - and was one of the chief architects of - the blues-rock style that spawned the likes of Led Zeppelin, Foreigner and Aerosmith. With Free, Fraser wrote and produced some of their most groundbreaking and best-loved songs, including the worldwide hit, "All Right Now," recently honored with BMI's "Million-Air" award for passing 3 million radio/television plays in the U.S., making it one of the most enduring classics of the rock 'n roll era.

A tireless creator and a perfectionist with an eye and ear for detail, Fraser has written a substantial body of works including Robert Palmer's smash hit, "Every Kinda People." His songs have been recorded by Joe Cocker, Chaka Khan, Rod Stewart, Three Dog Night, Etta James and Bob Seger among others. Fraser has also helmed several post-Free bands - notably Shark and the Andy Fraser Band - and has released several solo works, including the albums, Fine, Fine Line and Naked...and Finally Free.

A survivor of both cancer and AIDS, Fraser is a strong environmental and social activist, and defender of individual human rights.

STARCODE - NYC Based Popular Rock Band Releases New Album Called "A Fine Line"

STARCODE - NYC based popular rock band releases new album called "A Fine Line" "I Found A Way," the first single off the album is a Top 40 radio ready hit and creating lots of buzz at college radio in Maryland and around the country.

STARCODE's unique sound, with powerful catchy hooks, has garnered much attention for the band. They were asked to perform with The Goo Goo Dolls, Fono, Smash Mouth, The Claypeople, Buckcherry, Belly and Pete Francis. The band's sound has been compared to Third Eye Blind, Lit, Blink 182, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins.

STARCODE recently performed live at the Billboard Magazine office in New York City - they packed the room with almost the entire staff in attendance. Everyone was very excited about their music.

The band recently performed at a charity benefit in Albany to raise money for Samaritans Suicide Awareness and Prevention. Some proceeds from sales of "A Fine Line" will be donated to Samaritansnyc.org. The band has also toured the east coast as well as the former Czech Republic for the DOD entertaining UN troops.

STARCODE was officially booked for the CMJ Music Conference in New York City at Alphabet Lounge on October 23, 2009. They packed the house.

The backbone of STARCODE is the O'Connor brothers; Dave O'Connor on bass guitar and lead vocals and Dan O'Connor on drums and vocals. The brothers O'Connor, joined by Steve Bernstein on guitar and Greg Nicotra also on guitar, create catchy, multi-layered pop melodies and interwoven guitars and loops creating songs that electrify the listener.

STARCODE members Dan O'Connor and Steve Bernstein have a successful history together – they used to play with MILC who was signed to Megaforce Records.

STARCODE is managed by Michele L. Larsen of Lady Larsen Entertainment, LLC.

Quotes:

"Starcode likely won't stay unsigned for long as their brand of music teeters on angst-free but still carries a modern message by way of a softer sound. Excellent guitars, excellent harmonies. And no, it's not Billy Corgan. It's better." - Local Vertical Blog

"...And after wearing out the repeat button on my stereo system while listening to this whole album the past few days, it's no wonder why STARCODE has garnered so much attention..." – Charlie Doherty, Blogcritics Magazine

"The mix of influences and the raw musical delivery of each member of STARCODE comes together delivering high energy hooky pop music, doing to the ears what fine wine does to the pallet." - Dale Penner, Producer

"In a world where music conglomerates promote carbon copies and rip offs of other bands, STARCODE keeps it real. Not only is STARCODE the premiere rock band of the new generation, but their style of "high energy dark pop rock" music is what sets them apart from other musical acts." - Timesunion.com

"A Fine Line," the bands finest work to date, has been a year in the making. The album was produced, mixed, and engineered by Dale Penner who has worked with Nickleback, Matthew Good, and Econoline Crush. Top level videos for "Found A Way" and "Don't Jump" are in the process of being completed.
