New York - October 19, 2009 - The New York Songwriters Circle (NYSC) today announced that songwriters worldwide will now have until October 25th to submit their songs (any genre) for the NYSC's fourth annual Songwriting Contest. Songwriters can visit our Web site at http://www.songwriters-circle.com to submit their songs and read about the contests new less encompassing terms and conditions.
Past winners of the now worldwide recognized songwriting contest include Kate Voegele, Company of Thieves and Mieka Pauley.
The awards for the contest continue to grow as new sponsors come on board. In 2009, over $25,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded with the Grand Prize winner receiving a performance spot with Grammy Winner John Oates at the prestigious Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, CO, a top of the line Gibson acoustic guitar, an opportunity to record with Grammy Award Winning Producer Glenn Barrett and a guest spot on Jonathan Clarke's Q104.3 radio show (New York and America's favorite Rock station).
The NYSC continues to attract esteemed members of the music and entertainment industry to serve as its judges. This years panel includes: Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer/legendary rock performer John Oates, Grammy Award winning producer Russ Titelman (Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Chaka Khan, Cindi Lauper and Ricki Lee Jones to names a few), Q104.3 Radio's Jonathan Clarke, Hit Songwriter Allan Merrill ("I Love Rock and Roll") and many more.
The New York Songwriters Circle has been at the forefront of the songwriting world for over 19 years. In 2008, the New York Songwriters Circle expanded its live music showcase events beyond New York ("The Bitter End") to included Philadelphia ("World Cafe Live!"), Boston ("Johnny D's" and Berklee College of Music's "Café 939"), and most recently announced openings in Chicago ("Schubas" - opening September 1st, 2009) and Los Angeles (The Mint - August 24th, 2009).
