Hip Hop artiste, Five Steez, released an online music video for his song, "Propheticz" last Friday. The track, produced by Inztinkz, who is also featured on its chorus, serves as the intro to the ground-breaking Five Steez debut album, "War for Peace".
The music video, shot and edited by @itslynky, shows both MC's trading bars at night at undisclosed locations somewhere in the Jamaican capital of Kingston. On "Propheticz", Five Steez declares his revolutionary stance and makes listeners know why he is the MC to which everyone must pay attention, while Inztinkz displays his style of "rap calisthenics" over his own haunting boom-bap production.
"This is how I had to set the tone for the album," says Five Steez. "From the title alone, you can tell that this is a very serious project."
Since its August 2012 release, "War for Peace" has received excellent reviews from iTunes as well as some underground Hip Hop blogs and even Reggae journalists in Europe and Jamaica. "This is real music to help people in the struggle find peace." says Five Steez. "It is new millennium boom-bap Hip Hop with soulful production, heavily themed with a lot of commentary, storytelling, introspection and raw lyricism on display."
Since 2010, Five Steez has been making a name for himself among underground Hip Hop fans worldwide through features on various Hip Hop blogs and websites. Despite the fact that local artistes of the genre go largely unrecognized in Jamaica, he is seen as one of the leaders of an emerging Hip Hop movement in Kingston.
"War for Peace" is available at http://www.fivesteez.com, iTunes, Amazon and other online music outlets.
