Alternative Pop-Rock musician Doug McCurry will release a new CD on May 22, 2012, entitled 'Romance Like It Was'. The album is the first from McCurry since 'Seven Songs About Leaving' in 2010, and like its predecessor will be released on his own 5-16 Records label. All 12 songs were self-penned by McCurry. 'Romance Like It Was' blends a number of musical genres and time periods to offer an eclectic mix of songs, ranging from the R&B influenced 'Wanda' and 'Cleveland Park', to rock ballads 'Along The River' and 'Christina'. Several guest artists assisted in the project including violinist Lisa Spring, saxophonist Brent Bagwell (Great Architect), Chris Johnson (Hardcore Lounge) on trumpet and keyboards, former band mates William Earl (Big Brick Building) on drums and Greg Gilbert (Swivel) on bass. 'This album is a little more electric, a little less dark, and more pop oriented than the prior release', McCurry says. 'The songs were written from a different viewpoint and frame of mind, and warranted a different treatment. I am very excited about how the recording turned out'. Live performances are planned to follow the album release with William Earl and Greg Gilbert supporting.
