Eagle International Releases Durwood Haddock's Fifth CD, HANKS A LOT

Veteran singer/songwriter/musician Durwood Haddock whose career dates back to the golden age of country music releases his fifth album with the unique title HANKS A LOT. In this issue, Durwood reaches back to that golden era which he is most certainly familiar and comes up with 12 of his favorite HANK songs by HANK WILLIAMS, HANK SNOW, HANK THOMPSON and HANK LOCKLIN. According to the liner notes these are songs that Durwood became familiar with when he was barely a teenager and later performed all of them on local radio, in honky tonks & dance halls in north & west Texas before he was twenty years old.

While his career as a vocalist never reached the brass ring status, his writing most certainly did. In l954 the first song he wrote with Eddie Miller & recorded on 4 Star Records titled THERE SHE GOES didn't exactly result in Durwood becoming a house hold name, but CARL SMITH'S recording of that tune was a number three chart the following year in l955 and started a whole new career for Durwood as a song writer. Later the song was recorded by PATSY CLINE(There He Goes) and eventually sold in the millions after it was re-issued in the box set THE PATSY CLINE COLLECTION in l991. In l980 it was featured in the Oscar winning movie, COAL MINER'S DAUGTHER the life story of Loretta Lynn and later the movie THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS starring ASIA ARGENTO & PETER FONDA. To date the song has been recorded over 150 times by various artists including JERRY WALLACE, SAMMI SMITH, SCISSY SPACEK, K.D. LANG & ERNEST TUBB to name only a few and has sold in the millions. While THERE SHE GOES has been the more successful, Durwood has had other songs recorded by a stellar cast of country music notables over the past half century,

Some of the songs in HANKS A LOT were never on the popularity charts but others were number one and some were in the top five, even so they were all special to Durwood and after you hear his version of these all time greats, you no doubt, will agree. Be assured, when you put this one on the player, Durwood will take you on a musical trip back to the "Golden Era of Country Music".
