Missing Link Music Signs Lil Uzi Vert

Originally having grown up in North Philadelphia’s Francisville neighborhood, Lil Uzi Vert is the only one in his immediate musical circle that is not from Atlanta — but he couldn’t sound more at home over Wheezy’s operatic piano riffs and speaker-stretching 808 rumble. The appeal of his style is not unlike a teenaged Lil Wayne, reminiscent of his vocal tone and penchant for melody.

In the past year, Lil Uzi Vert has experienced a meteoric rise. April 2016’s "Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World" featured his biggest hit to date, and set the pace for July’s "The Perfect Luv Tape", a tightly edited project that featured “Do What I Want,” a song that was prominently featured in a Jordan brand sneaker commercial in October. During this time, he also released a collaborative EP with Gucci Mane, which included a bevy of individual singles, and notched some 33 features in the press, all while touring consistently. SoundCloud crowned him their most followed artist of 2016, and during the second week of 2017, he achieved his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to a guest verse on Migos’s “Bad and Boujee.”

And just last week Iggy Azalea released the hit single “Can’t Lose” featuring Lil Uzi Vert himself.
