(Los Angeles, CA) Alan Wilder - formerly of Depeche Mode - has announced details of his new Recoil tour. Available now, the Recoil iPhone app allows fans to track Alan's activities. Follower's can post their thoughts and musings while Alan is on the road and in the studio. While the app provides a hub for Recoil's social networking, it also offers access to photos, videos, audio as well as insight to Wilder's personal thoughts behind each of his albums.
The app is free and available now from the iTunes store: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/recoil/id377702422?mt=8 - perfect for keeping in touch with all the latest news including up-to-the-minute posts regarding Recoil's tour schedule.
After several successful performances of 'A Strange Hour' across Europe and the US (which also marked the first time Alan / Recoil had ventured out of the studio), further dates were announced in South America for November 2010, with more North American and Canadian dates to be added. Alan and Paul Kendall are currently busy working out an updated set.
An accomplished musician, Alan continues to hone his skills in the studio. During his 14 year stint as a member of Depeche Mode, Wilder pushed against the constrictive boundaries of commercial pop music. Created in the mid-eighties as an antidote to the high-demands of DM, Recoil became Wilder's sole studio propriety. Two albums were released: Hydrology (1988) and Bloodline (1990). Both were an indication of his expanding horizons. After his departure from Depeche Mode in 1995, Recoil became Wilder's full-time project. Since then, he has released Unsound Methods (1997), Liquid (2000) and subHuman (2007).
Recoil Selected, a brand new selection of classic Recoil tracks, is available now. It contains a track listing personally chosen by Alan who explains, "The collection is made up of my personal favourites, re-mastered and edited together into what I consider a cohesive and total listening experience." The album features a varied selection of vocalists including Diamanda Galás, Joe Richardson, Douglas McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb), Nicole Blackman, Samantha Coerbell, Toni Halliday (Curve) and Maggie Estep. Recoil Selected is available to download either in one or two CD set editions. Fans can stay tuned to www.selected.recoil.co.uk for continuing updates.
