MusicDishTV: Richard Jaymes - Dollar and a Dream

Richard Jaymes' music video for "Dollar and a Dream." www.richardjaymes.com

"The most effective music videos are the ones where the visuals match the song. A Dollar And A Dream is an example of this. Here, singer/songwriter Richard Jaymes sings about having a dream and having very little to make it through the day. There is some societal conscience involved when he sings of corporate greed and living above one’s means. Richard though is determined to make his dreams come true, and he resorts to singing on the street corner for money.

"This video shows a young girl with a jar who always practiced saving her dollars. Flash forward to the present, and she is now a single mom, working as a waitress trying to support herself and her young daughter. To make things tougher, her boss is corrupt. Throughout the video, he is seen stealing from the cash register, and inappropriately touching her. She looks the other way and continues to work hard, focusing on her goal of being successful. On her mirror at home are pictures and cutouts of people who are successful, trying to motivate herself to be like them. The lady then musters up the nerve to put her hard earned money to work by delivering a man a foreclosure and thus buying the building and giving herself her own business, and therefore, making her dollar dreams come true." -- Veronica Cole (MusicDishTV)
