One in five Americans struggle with hunger.

The goal is to raise awareness of this epidemic in our own back yard and to take action to feed, empower and transform lives.

While on tour over the past five years, WILLIE BASSE noticed the face of hunger has changed. Basse explains, "It's no longer the derelict drunk. It's every day people like myself, who are willing to work, college kids, single mothers, grandparents having to choose between buying their medications, or a meal."

Companies have downsized, or gone out of business, people have lost jobs, or been laid off. It seems there is no middle class anymore. BASSE says, "I thought to myself, what can I do to make a difference?

I can have my fans bring canned goods to my concerts and make donations to food pantries in each city I play in."

Thus began his charity, Feed America-Now.

Heart Of Compassion began in 1993 when founder, Pastor Eric Tietz went door to door in his community inviting neighbors to a free breakfast in a church parking lot in Pico Rivera, CA.

HOC has grown to be a multi-million dollar food bank/distribution center providing 20-million pounds of goods annually. (including food, clothing, furniture, toys, hygiene products)

Basse was introduced to Pastor Eric and has been driving around giving away 1,000 pounds of food daily, until his current Open Heart Surgery this July.

Ground Wire Music Opens for Business

Jason Mozersky and Jesse Ingalls, Grammy award-winning members of Ben Harper's band Relentless 7, have launched their new boutique music writing and production company, GroundWire Music. Based in Los Angeles, GroundWire Music will have its focus on writing, creating, and producing original content for film, television, advertising, and brand partnerships.

A native of San Antonio based in Austin, Texas, Mozersky played and recorded for many years with numerous rock bands, including Stevie Ray Vaughan's band Double Trouble. Composer Ingalls, a native of Washington D.C., studied classical and jazz music at the University of Texas in Austin, where the pair's musical collaboration began. They were mainstays in the blossoming Austin indie rock scene of the 2000s, and have been writing and performing together ever since. In 2008, Ingalls, Mozersky and drummer Jordan Richardson, joined forces with Ben Harper to form a new band, Relentless 7.

The talented founders of GroundWire have worked in studios and shared the stage with luminaries including Ben Harper, Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne, Natalie Maines and Ringo Starr. Their work with Harper as lead guitarist and bassist in Relentless 7 has resulted in five world tours and six studio albums including Dixie Chick, Natalie Maines' critically acclaimed solo album Mother. They were awarded the Grammy for co-producing and performing on Harper's Best Blues Album of 2013, Get Up! with harmonica legend, Charlie Musselwhite.

Earlier this year, GroundWire Music teamed up with LA-based music supervisor, Lindsay Fellows (The Imitation Game). Together they produced national spots for the CBS EcoMedia campaign, Viewers to Volunteers. Mozersky and Ingalls wrote original material for the campaign, which currently is being aired on CBS television and numerous additional social media platforms. Fellows holds out great promise for GroundWire Music, stating "I've been blessed to have been able to work with so many great composers, but it's always exciting to find new artists with a fresh sound. I believe that these guys have all the ingredients that it takes to be incredibly successful."

Indie-Rock Outfit, Automatik Eden Make Strong Headway In LA's Competitive Rock Music Scene...And Beyond!

We have all been exposed to well-known rock artists that are talented in music and are also endowed with other gifts. It seems that as time goes by -- and technology advances -- artists are expanding their horizons. Composer David Crocco (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) and fellow singer, songwriter and guitarist Cela Scott of Automatik Eden are prime examples.

David’s post-production engineering skills have been in demand for a while now, having worked with a plethora of contemporary music icons, in various genres. Performers include everyone from Dr. Dre and Busta Rhymes to Nickelback and System Of A Down…not an easy feat.

Cela also has an impressive history. As a tween, she joined the prestigious Nashville Children’s Choir and toured the US for several years. The choir made TV appearances and were featured on recordings with singers such as Reba McIntyre.

Later, Cela auditioned for the impressive University of Southern California’s BFA Acting program and landed a spot in the conservatory school. She was chosen to participate in master classes in Shakespeare with guest instructors that included Alfred Molina (Spiderman 2, The Da Vinci Code, Raiders of the Lost Ark).

After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre, she began performing in independent films and plays in Los Angeles and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the short Inseparable Hearts. David and Cela, who met years earlier in Nashville, decided to join talents and form Automatik Eden.

While listening to songs such as “Citadel” and “Chimera,” on their self-titled EP, one can hear the refrains of a little Pretenders with a dash of the White Stripes, The Kills and Garbage. But make no mistake, their music is distinctly their own.

The EP was produced by Herwig Maurer (Hypernova, Simone White and sound designer for King of the Hill, Hostel, and Apocalypto) and mixed by Sean Beavan (Guns N’ Roses, No Doubt, Nine Inch Nails, System of a Down).

In their recent July, 2012 issue, the noted LA based music magazine, Music Connection paid tribute to the act, stating, “What the pair truly excel at is…atmospheric fare such as “Citadel,” whose edgy dynamics and vocals by Crocco are just a preview to “Chimera,” on which Scott shows a striking voice.” MC goes on by saying, “In the dreamy, eerie outing, mixed by Sean Beavan (NIN), you can practically hear the song in a David Fincher soundtrack. AE seem to have the potential to exceed their influences.” Not bad!!!

“The common thread to the artists we love is that they all found a way to be original and approach their music more as an art form than a formula. That is our tactic.” states David. Cela adds, “The music and musicians we admire had a vision and expressed a way of life…a certain freedom on a higher level.”

Visually, Automatik Eden has a lot to offer. Both Cela and Dave have put a lot of thought and effort into both their personal and stage appearance. “We felt we didn’t want to come off as just another jeans and t-shirt band,” says Cela. “And besides that, it’s fun!”

When it comes to their live show, the duo generate a huge sound. It’s the perfect combination of organic and electronic. “I am sure we will, at some point, perform with a full band but right now, it’s great to experiment!” says Dave. “We’re learning a lot and it’s exciting…and the audience seems to pick up on it!”

In helping to sum up Automatik Eden’s philosophy and sound, Dave affirms, “In all of our media, from music and beyond, we focus on the human condition in this insane age of information.” Cela adds, “We enjoy exploring, both in our music and in our lives, the on-going interaction that exists between the mind and the heart.”

Not Just Another Metal Band

Armed with a crisp new sound up-and-coming rock band The Rift, signed to Holodigm Media, packs a punch with their debut CD. The band has a great deal of raw song writing talent and their music combines the musicianship of heavy metal rock with great pop hooks. Founding members/brother John and Aris Anagnos have been playing music together for years and are the heart and soul of the band.

Although The Rift has only been together for two years, they share great chemistry on stage having made them a quite popular live band. They have earned a reputation that has allowed them to share the stage with bands such as: The Misfits, Exodus, Yngwie Malmsteen and Midnight Theory.

The Rift has worked with several Producers including Geza X (Dead Kennedys, The Germs, Black Flag, The Avengers and The Weirdos) and Paul Roessle (Screamers, Nina Hagen, 45 Grave,Mike Watt, Twisted Roots and more), but it wasn’t until recently that the band found the sound they had been looking for, thanks to Crooked Creek Studios and Producer Chuck Bennet who took the band’s sound to the next level.

When asked, lead singer Aris Anagnos states his personal musical influnces are the likes of Led Zeppelin, Metallica, 30 Seconds to Mars and Atreyu. Other members of the band include Tyler Holsclaw, Matt Melamed, Tesh Hatharasinghe, and John Anagnos. Most of the other band members state their influences are almost identical, making the band very consistent and well suited for the alternative/hard rock music that they play.

Doug Tidstrand Releases Debut Album "Everything I Am"

Doug Tidstrand's long-awaited debut album "Everything I Am" is available everywhere May 15th through Blue Chair Music. A veteran of acting schools and dance troupes, Astrella also served as co-writer and backup vocalist for her world- renowned father, singer Donovan, and has repeatedly toured with him for the past 15 years.

Far beyond her collaborations with Donovan, Astrella's career has been richly enhanced by her continued collaborations with music's elite; studio recording sessions, concert performances and home jams, with The Rolling Stones, David Gilmour, Brian Setzer, Donovan, Mark White, Happy Mondays, and Graham Nash at festivals including: Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, and Benicassim and intimate performances like the Kodak Theatre with David Lynch for PBS just to name a few.

Astrella Celeste will be performing live at a handful of dates around Los Angeles in the coming months.
