Singer/Songwriter Tina Malia Debuts Pop/electronic Album "The Lost Frontier" Today Worldwide

Singer/Songwriter/Multi-instrumentalist/Producer Tina Malia debuts today her highly anticipated pop/electronic album “The Lost Frontier.” Malia delivers a rawness and authenticity through her extraordinary voice and musical compositions as well as in her lyrics and prose. Each song on "The Lost Frontier" is powerful on its own, kicking off with the sensuous second single “Serendipity” and the global electronic introspection of the title track to the building dance beat of “Undercover” and the inspirational groove of “Spark.” Collectively the album makes an indelible mark every time one hears it. Upon each listening something new is learned, as the songs inspire instead of instigate, observe rather than point, wonder rather than blame. Each of the 10 original tracks is part of the greater whole, which at the end of the day is an affirmation of love, of hope, of responsibility for ourselves and each other.

"The title track sets up the entire album 'The Lost Frontier' because it highlights the cyclical nature of our existence and the far extremes that lie within it. The wheel is merely an observer as we move through revolutions of creation and decay, hope and despair, beauty and destruction. 'The Lost Frontier' is about acknowledging and understanding these different aspects in life and remembering that we have the power to choose what we do with that knowledge." Tina Malia

RealSing.Org
“The Lost Frontier” already has people talking as it becomes the first pop/electronic album to get the RealSing.org stamp of vocal authenticity, which means Malia’s vocals were recorded without any vocal pitch manipulation technology such as Auto-Tune. The RealSing Collective – made up of GRAMMY-winning singers, songwriters, engineers, producers and music industry organizations-- evaluates and then gives official certification to authentic recorded vocal performances.

Army Pink
Tina Malia is the first indie artist to be named as an Ambassador of Peace for the new global brand-of-action Army Pink (http://www.facebook.com/ArmyPinkGirls). Army Pink pledges a portion of its sales to support organizations that make positive change in regions of the world and areas of our lives running at a peace deficit. Its Ambassadors of Peace are female musicians – representing legends, icons and independent artists – who are courageous and committed to promoting peace worldwide.

More Tina Malia
A multi-talented artist and highly trained musician, Ms. Malia not only writes and sings her own material, she also engineers and produces her albums, playing many of the instruments included on them. Originally trained as a classical pianist by her mother, she credits her father for introducing her to guitar and folk music, which led her to such iconic female singer/songwriters as Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, Alison Krauss and the Indigo Girls, among others. On "The Lost Frontier," we hear these influences as well as flavors of electronic, world, pop and dance.

Of Korean and Yugoslavian descent, Ms. Malia exhibits a natural ease within the talented artist's powers of observation. Her travels around the world and interest in many cultures eventually led her to Sanskrit mantra chanting, which she describes as "simple yet extraordinary," and to which she attributes her sense of well being.

As an artist, her love of different cultures and music has helped distinguish her in styles ranging from pop to world/acoustic to electronic. Her own diverse and growing catalog of albums is complemented by work with iconic artists such as Carlos Santana, India.Arie, Bonnie Raitt, Kenny Loggins, Bassnectar, Jai Uttal and Idan Raichel.

JJ Schultz Releases 4th Studio Album

JJ Schultz released his fourth studio album, Carolina, on Saturday August 11th. Following his albums Bustin' Outa Town, Something To Me, and Traveling Songs, Carolina features a stripped down Americana sound, communicating one man’s struggle with love and manhood. With whiskey soaked lyrics, sparse guitars, and a heavenly Hammond B3, Schultz’s Western Roots music weaves a lush, intricate mood.

The album features a combination of Schultz's solo work as well as numbers with his full band. On the solo tracks, Schultz's relaxed and almost casual guitar picking is accompanied by some otherworldly Hammond licks played by Danny Eisenber (Tift Merritt, The Mother Hips, Ryan Adams). When joined by his band, Schultz lets loose and we hear once again the trademark guitar sounds of Scott Robertson and Jeff Cotton, the jazzy thump and bowing of Craig Koozer's upright bass, and Manny Bernal's understated and beautifully tasteful drumming.

Songs from Carolina include the rocking "Karma Come Early", a story about a newly unemployed farm laborer who comes back dish out a little karma. “Karma is just a song about a dude who got fired, and he's kind of upset,” Schultz explains. He explains more in the lyric "Come on now let's get started/Lord knows the river will flow/Come on now this poor man's hungry/Time to reap what you have sown", and the poignant "Alchemy", a wistful story about a man longing for a family - longing for "a house built by hand/on our own piece of land/for you and me/and our family band".

Schultz wrote the songs for Carolina over a three year span from 2007-2010 and recorded them over the following two years. Schultz self-produced the album, Roger Rocha (Four Non-Blondes, The Golden Hearts) provided the studio and engineering, and Michael Romanowski provided the mastering. Mark Tolsted, a Wisconsin based graphic artist, contributed the album design and artwork, as he has for all of Schultz's studio albums.

Originally from Northern Wisconsin, Schultz relocated to San Francisco in the late 90's. While his songs are deeply personal and pull from his life experiences, he cautions “The songs are not photo-realistic self portraits. When I write, I usually write a story, but the story is influenced by what I'm going through at the time”.

His band has been together since 2002. When not touring, Schultz commonly performs around San Francisco at venues including Hotel Utah, Cafe Du Nord, and Bottom of the Hill. His 2011 tour schedule included the main stage at San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury Street Fair.

Carolina will be available on Pandora, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, CD Baby, and at jjschultz.com. You may also purchase from a limited vinyl pressing. For more information on the release concert or ordering from the vinyl pressing, please visit jjschultz.com.

"Sixty8 Comeback" The Mixtape Release By Singer Songwriter Frank Anthony Pushed Back 1 Week

Singleton Entertainment announced today that the anticipated mixtape music release by singer songwriter Frank Anthony "Sixty 8 Comeback" has been moved to July 31st. The release date change allowed for some additional clearances.

"Frank is disappointed, his fans are disappointed, however when you're preparing a release for success in today's global music market, and you're featuring the kinds of producers and guest artists that he has on Sixty 8 Comeback, you really must make sure that everything is just right!" says Ernie Singleton, President of Singleton Entertainment. "Frank's part is done, the video is done, however as time passed, you begin to rush and trying to make today's release hurriedly was going to be totally unfair to our media partners in Japan, Italy and the UK, with the time differences, and we need their help too. When rushed, you often make mistakes."

Sixty8 Comeback by Frank Anthony takes music from classic songs from 1968 and other years which happen to be one of Frank Anthony's favorite time periods of music.

Singleton continued, "Frank has assembled a great team spread both here in the US and Canada and as we spoke today on our conference call, we all felt that an extra week would help us deliver Sixty 8 Comeback to his fans the way that they deserve! Unfortunately it includes more anticipation."

Texas Singer-Songwriter Brian Kalinec Releases A New CD: The Fence

Award-winning Houston Texas-based Americana/folk singer-songwriter Brian Kalinec’s new CD, The Fence, released in May, is the follow-up to Last Man Standing, his 2007 Berkalin Records debut. The Fence is a collection of stories in song that relate to the value of work and/or effort in one way or another. – from building a fence to cutting stone, from choosing a career over a relationship to losing a job, from homelessness to home repairs, from Teddy Roosevelt’s star-crossed river adventure in the jungles of South America to a woman whose life is forever affected by her boyfriend’s poor choices. In his descriptive and poignant, yet musically accessible songs that were penned over the last several years, effort is sometimes rewarded and sometimes ignored, and taking the easy way out usually leads to disaster. And sometimes the less fortunate are just simply ignored. “In this 100th anniversary of Woody Guthrie’s birth, these songs resonate in our own times,” maintains noted folksinger-songwriter Tom Pacheco, who wrote the album’s liner notes. “I’m sure Woody would have loved them. [Brian] sings, writes, and plays so seamlessly that it feels these songs have always been there.” Indeed, the album’s title track, a song celebrating our spirit of self-reliance, took second place in the 2008 Woody Guthrie Song Contest. “Demons Falling Down,” another song on the album, captured first place in the Songwriter Serenade. A Beaumont native, Kalinec’s East Texas roots have combined with his urban experiences in Houston to form his own particular view of the world, which is reflected in his songs. “While I feel a strong connection to each of the album’s 11 original songs (including one co-written with Connie Mims), I have special empathy with the characters who find themselves in dire situations through no real fault of their own, as in “Stranger in this Line” and “Creosote,” says Kalinec. “It is also quite obvious that I value hard work,” he continues, noting that both “The Fence” and “Uncle Joe” celebrate the spirit of self-reliance. “However, we are each morally responsible to aid the less fortunate among us. I believe that is the true message here.” The CD also includes a cover of “A Song I Heard,” written by guitarist Maury Muehleisen, who died with Jim Croce in a plane crash before he could focus on his own career. Produced by Kalinec and veteran producer/engineer Michael Mikulka at Mikulka’s Lucky Run Studios, The Fence also features Merel Bregante (Loggins & Messina, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) on drums and percussion; Patterson Barrett (Jerry Jeff Walker, Buddy Miller, Nanci Griffith) on dobro, steel and mandolin; Rankin Peters on bass; Berkalin recording artist Matt Harlan, a rising star in the Americana and folk world and winner of the 2011 Telluride Song Competition; Mims, a prolific songwriter and former member of the group Wheatfield; Cathy -Anne McClintock, a Canadian-born multi-award-winning folk and Americana artist; Kerrville New Folk Finalist B. Sterling Archer on cello and trumpet on several tracks; Allisong Smith on backing vocals; Jeff Duncan on fiddle; Jeff Chambers on vocals; Carolyn Wallace on vocals; Jim Kam on Chapman Stick; Sandy Buller on bowed bass; and Bill Ward, Andi and Ren Renfree of the Texas Music Award-winning group Two-Bit Palomino contributing piano and vocals. Kalinec is past president of the venerable Houston Songwriters Association and co-produced its annual Sonny Throckmorton Songwriters Festival during the 1990s. He has been performing steadily for more than a dozen years, having been invited to perform at many house concerts, coffeehouses and festivals in Texas and across the U.S., including the famed Kerrville Folk Festival. In 2010, Kalinec participated in the “Shoulder to the Stone” project benefiting the Haitian relief effort and was among the artists on the compilation CD which was recognized as “Event of the year” during the 2012 Texas Music Awards. He also has been a winner in the Big Top Chautaqua Song Contest (2008) and a finalist in numerous other songwriting competitions, while his music has been featured on ABC News’ World News Now. A recipient of the “My Texan” Award at the 2012 Texas Music Awards for his support of the music and musicians of the state, Brian has produced a number of projects for other artists in addition to his own CDs. These include the late Tim Henderson’s final release, The Winds of Texas (2010). Henderson had said of Kalinec: “… Brian’s written a couple of songs that I’m plumb jealous of…” Copies of The Fence may be purchased online through www.mytexasmusic.com, www.amazon.com, and www.bestbuy.com. "As The Bodies Pile Up" By Zak Smith

center>

Zak Smith's song "As The Bodies Pile Up" is from his self-titled album which will be released on April 1st. It's a great rock 'n roll song that is carried by both the beat and Smith's nice, raspy vocals. Quite unique, Smith has the kind of voice and vocal style that is very pleasant to the ears and interesting enough to listen to repeatedly. "As The Bodies Pile Up" is a hauntingly beautiful song that is accompanied by a few instruments that are oddly combined and yet produce a most beautiful sound together. Mesmerizing, tantalizing, and distinctive, the story of the song is weaved in a tale that is memorable and enticing. The arrangement is well done, the song well produced, and every part of this song is flawless. This is truly music with a message and meaning, and music lovers of every genre will enjoy a listen. Smith's CD is available for purchase now on his website and will be released to iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play on May 1st. There's no down that "As The Bodies Pile Up" to purchase this CD, that Zak Smith will have a bright future in the world of music.

CHRIS DIAZ To Perform At The TEXAS ROCKFEST In Austin

If the pressure of being a new artist in this ever-changing music industry landscape and balancing all the time and dedication it requires of a musician today, while going for a masters degree at the University of Texas and trying to hold on to any normalcy in life with family and friends isn’t enough, singer/songwriter Chris Diaz seems to take it all in stride; especially the exciting news that he will be performing on the Main Stage (7th St. and Neches St.) in downtown Austin, TX with headliners at the 13th Annual Heart of Texas Rockfest (www.TexasRockfest.com) on Saturday, March 17th 2012 @ 7:30pm during SXSW week. Perhaps it was his brush with local stardom on the radio in his hometown in the Dallas metroplex area as a freestyle and hip-hop artist before he matured into a singer/songwriter drawing on the classic influences of The Beatles and Elton John and capturing the attention of dedicated fans and music bloggers that affords Chris the opportunity to be so laid back in times of extreme pressure (a good thing for his bandmates who look up to him for guidance in these situations). Riding on the ever-growing popularity and positive industry reviews of his new album, The Ride Home, and his growing popularity in the live, downtown Dallas music scene, Chris says he’ll take these once in a lifetime opportunities like performing at this years’ Texas Rockfest in Austin on the 17th and put on “one hell of a show” with his talented band made up of some of the top musicians on the Dallas scene. “Rocking out to a fresh, new audience in Austin at the Rockfest and winning them over one fan at a time, is a challenge I welcome and an opportunity to expose my music to an audience eager to discover talented, new independent artists and bands.” Chris Diaz’, The Ride Home, is available on CDBaby, iTunes, and Amazon.
