Space Vacation's New Album "Heart Attack" May Cause A Coronary

Space Vacation's long awaited sophomore effort delivers all the neck snapping riffs and stick in your head choruses expected from the quartet. "Heart Attack" is comprised of hook after hook of powerful melodies and shredding guitar playing that will bring you back to 1984. The band is joined this time around by new guitarist Kiyoshi Morgan, formerly of Vicious Rumors. The album was recorded by Phil Manley (Trans-Am, The Champs) and mixed by Kurt Schlegel (The Melvins, Jello Biafra) at Lucky Cat Studios in San Francisco. The current lineup features singer/guitarist Scott Shapiro, bassist Jay Shapiro, lead guitarist Kiyoshi Morgan and Andy Headrick on drums. The album is available through most digital retailers. 12" Vinyl and Cd's can only be purchased through the bands online store. http://spacevacationmerch.miiduu.com/ Get ready to head bang. First Ever Official LovEvolution Compilation CD

The 14 track compilation CD LovEvolution is a work of love indeed. The CD, which hit the streets on October 1, 2009, features original tracks from various internationally renowned Electronic Dance Music artists. The proceeds from sales of LovEvolution will be donated to the Beat University Electronic Music Scholarship Fund in San Francisco, the first ever of its kind in the United States.

The first track, "The Ice Dance" by Bachelors of Science is fast, frenzied, and has a vocal melody in the background. "So Far" by Miguel Migs is one that you immediately want to get up and dance to - it's definitely a "feel good song with a funky beat and a good vocal performance. "The Future Sound of Retro" by Lee Coombs is a 'do you want to go crazy boogying' number, while the "Art of Revolution" gives the album an infusion of reggae. "Pitch Bitch" has a nice beat, and I'm guessing that if you could hook this one up to a heart monitor, the graph would be all over the place. "Defcon" has a futuristic sound to it, while "Sassy Frass" by DRC and DJ Denise has more of a New York club vibe.

"Cheer Up" will get your head bopping and booty shaking and I loved the keyboards on this little number. "Santiago" by Stoneface and Terminal and, "Phenomenon" by Deep Voices are classic electronic tracks, with the latter having a strong drum beat and electronic vocals. Christopher Lawrence's "Continuation" makes you want to do just that - continue listening to it. But, with LovEvolution, you have to keep on going. The CD ends with "Dub Divider" by Chromatone, "The Awakening" by Dissolve aka Liam Shy, and my personal favorite, "Spaceman."

All in all, LovEvolution is a solid CD from experienced artists. It's for a good cause, and it's for a good time. Enjoy!

Rock Music, w/ An Operatic, Theatrical Twist

Get this player from Fairtilizer!

San Franciscan Andrea Plamondon's single "I Still Remember" (featuring Joy FM) brings us guitar's riffs with a chasing rhythm in a bluegrass/experimental style. Despite her musical background as a classically trained opera singer, Andrea demonstrates her intense attachment to rock music, having spent the last two decades performing with some of the most accomplished rock bands in the Bay Area. The song, while having it's roots in garage and underground scenes, keeps true to its musicality. This is especially the case for the drum line, with it's fantastic breaks that give you the false perception that it is not constantly on time. This song chases you, keeping you pleasantly involved. An intense sound with innocently, wonderful vocals makes this track a powerful piece of rock music with a very refined taste.

Andrea Plamondon - Rock Tigress Unleashed

What do you get when you take a classically trained opera singer with a zest for creativity and innovation and nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, and cross her with some of the best alternative San Francisco rock bands ever to grace the Bay Area? You get Andrea Plamondon, that's what.

With the long-awaited release of "I Still Remember", a collection of recordings from her years with various San Franciscan bands since 1989, and the accompanying single "No More Silence", Plamondon announces her arrival to the wider world.

And one listen to the amazing vocal stylings on this 14 track hour-long offering makes it clear that we are dealing with a rare musical talent.

Plamondon's voice has an incredible three octave range, and she is certainly not afraid of showing it off on this record. But there is so much more here than just a great vocal performance. Plamondon chooses for her bandmates some of the best, most inventive musicians around, and the sound they create together is that of the avant garde breaking out of its underground lair.

This is rock music, with an operatic, theatrical twist. It is little wonder, therefore, that Plamondon has been compared to luminaries such as Kate Bush, Siouxie Sioux and Toyah Wilcox. But her constant thirst for the new makes her so much more.

This is a performer who has written stage musicals, who at 22 was told her voice was good enough for the Met, who has not only achieved excellence as an opera singer, but has studied Turkish and Middle Eastern music as well. All the time, while performing with some of the most accomplished rock bands across almost every notable venue in San Francisco.

Plamondon's life and music has also been touched by tragedy. Her brother, a gifted singer and performer in his own right, committed suicide at the age of 21, and the pain is evident in much of his sister's work.

All of this is why "I Still Remember" is such an incredible, varied and surprising record. From the lament of "Chant of the Flower" to the sprawling rock opera that is "The Great Doubt", there is something here for every discerning music fan.

But the new single, "No More Silence" showcases Plamondon's talents as well as any track here. It is an incendiary call to arms, as well as a cry for help. It is stirring and life-affirming. As all Plamondon's work is, and as all great music should be.

"I Still Remember" is out now on CD Baby, and "No More Silence" is available on Itunes and Napster.
