Robert Kramer Releases New Single In Honor Of Billy Joels' "Piano Man" Induction By The National Recording Preservation Board

Dimension One Records announces the official release of "Just Another Piano Man," the new single by Robert Kramer, from the upcoming album Shadow Logic. The song was penned by Kramer as a tip-of-the-hat to Billy Joel's iconic hit, "Piano Man;" an homage to the song being recently inducted into the Library of Congress.

"Just Another Piano Man," echoes Kramer’s personal sentiment of working the piano-bar circuit as a struggling musician. The Library’s National Recording Board (NRPB) chooses 25 recordings that are deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant," every year, and graciously, Kramer’s enticing piece has made the cut for 2016.

"Every musician who has ever experienced what its like to be a "Piano Man" owes a vote of thanks to Billy Joel for that song," comments Kramer, who knows first-hand the challenges and often thankless job of playing for inattentive bar patrons.

"Playing in a piano bar can be frustrating; it teaches you humility, endurance and patience," he quips. "But it can also be incredibly rewarding as well...it gives you the chance to make a difference up-close and personal. It made me a better musician and performer, not to mention getting repeated requests for that song in one night," Kramer laughs. "Every musician who’s been a piano man has their own story to tell about it; "Just Another Piano Man" was mine."

Kramer, who also writes music for film and television, has worked the piano bar circuit in between recording and producing a number of albums and music videos. The energetic and passionate tune shares the frustration and pitfalls of being a piano man on the lounge circuit; a theme many musicians can relate to. The track gracefully shows Kramer’s skills as a musician, lyricist and songwriter; the ultimate triple threat.

The lyrics of the piece contain a name-dropping litany of artists Kramer has received requests for night after night. "They're all there, from Sinatra to Gaga, and everything in between...I've even had requests for opera," Kramer states.

Lynne Taylor Donovan Releases New Single

Lynne Taylor Donovan (LTD) released her new single "Strong One" to radio in the U.K., Europe, and parts of Australia on April 2. Penned by renowned songwriters Cyril Rawson and Byron Hill, this much anticipated new single is a more traditional sound for Lynne and features violin, steel guitar and piano.

Alt-Rock Trio 'The Reach' Reunites For 20th Anniversary Show, New Single (Denver, CO)

The band formed in 1994 in Dallas, TX, garnering major label interest and critical acclaim for the aforementioned "Closer" album. After disbanding in 1997 for all the usual reasons, drummer Tommy Watts and Craig Miller reunited briefly to record a second album, LIFT in 2003.

They are now reuniting again with bassist Dave Scott to release a new single (covers of MGMT's "Time to Pretend" and The Stranglers' "No Mercy"), along with a remastered version of LIFT, and a fully remixed and remastered 20th Anniversary Edition of Closer.

Although largely ignored in their hometown of Dallas, TX, the band has gained a passionate following over the years in Denver, CO, with the help of the owners of the Bull & Bush pub, who have spread the word about their unique sound. "The bottom line is, we were one of the better bands of the 90's, despite our lack of exposure," said Miller. "When people hear us, they agree."

Paranormal Love Pervades Worldwide Groove Corporation's Newest Release

Don't bother locking up your daughters because this randy apparition can go through walls. What began as a fast paced pitch opportunity ended up yielding one of Worldwide Groove Corporation's most creative musical creations as of late. Their newest release "It's You I Love" chronicles the impossible longing between a creeping ghost and his human object of desire in such a way that it might leave listeners both "turned on and grossed out at the same time" according to Ellen Tift, songwriter and vocalist for WGC. Gritty synths set the dark and haunting tone of the track, soon joined by retro guitars over a mid tempo groove. This is topped off by a smoldering intimate performance by guest vocalist Nathan Barlowe, band member of the industrial rock band Five Knives, who joined Tift for the steamy duet.

"Sometimes we have opportunities to pitch songs for film and TV placement, and we might decide to see what we can come up with before the deadline if we are able to set aside our other work for a couple of days," says Kurt Goebel, programmer and producer for Worldwide Groove Corporation. "I started the track on a Tuesday morning, and by mid-afternoon I had something for Ellen to write a lyric and melody over. I had planned to have a writing appointment with Nathan Barlowe the next morning, but when he showed up we informed him that he would be singing on our track, and he was gracious enough to oblige. Then the song was mixed, mastered, and turned in by Wednesday afternoon."

Writing and recording songs in 1 or 2 days is not unusual for many songwriter/producers when licensing opportunities arise, and often there is a specific target they must try to hit. "With this pitch, the reference track was an eerie love song with a really low male vocal kind of droning the melody, so when I sat down to flow out the lyric, I knew my concept needed to have some sort of built in creepiness to it," says Tift. "Choosing to make the song from a phantom made the whole thing come together quickly. Later, when we decided this song would be our own release, I had to go back and write a second verse from the love interest of the ghost telling her side of it. That galvanized the concept, and it worked out beautifully." Tift intentionally took the lyrics beyond the safety zone of mainstream pop music with phrases like "the taste of my kiss is ethereal bliss on your tongue" to evoke a greater emotional response from the listener. "I purposely used words like that because it sort of jolts the listener a little, which is what this song is intended to do," states Tift.

The otherworldly lyrics combined with the altered notes of the scale in the song make this one of Worldwide Groove Corporation's most moody and harmonically dark songs to date. "It's You I Love" is the 9th consecutive monthly music release since their Year of the Groove began in July of 2014. The other singles and EPs released for this collection have ranged from ominous broods to easy mindless chillout to fun and quirky electropop. The J.O.B. Scores 3rd Song On Top 40 Charts

A local Richmond rock band, 'The J.O.B.' has had their third song rise into Top 40 territory on radio spin charts in the USA (FMQB AC40 3/12/15). The song is titled RED EYE and is currently in rotation on 130+ radio stations nationwide. The number of FM stations adding RED EYE has steadily increased since the song first appeared on the national charts. A folk influenced, alternative rock song about second chances, RED EYE entered the Top 200 at #156 in November 2014. The single RED EYE was released with an accompanying music video.

Formed in 2008, The J.O.B. is currently recording their 5th studio album. Two singles from previous albums also achieved Top 40 status, "Messenger" for 5 weeks in 2012 and "Feel" for 26 weeks in 2012-2013.
