NonStop Riot Closes Series B Funding From North Venture Partners

Music Branding Agency Expands to Meet Demands of Non-traditional Spending Among Brands

NonStop Riot (www.nonstopriot.com), a US music branding agency, has secured an undisclosed round of Series B financing from Oakland, CA-based North Venture Partners. The Los Angeles-based firm has worked with a growing list of brand partners including: Ray-Ban, SanDisk, Loopt, slotMusic, and Red Bull among others. The funding will ensure NonStop Riot's continued ability to propel brands and artists to the mainstream.

NonStop Riot CEO Josh Crick comments, "This round of funding speaks to our success over the last three years, and North's support of our growth and strategic leadership in the music branding space. We're excited to have North on our team because of their deep knowledge of music and marketing, their industry connections, and their track record of transparency with entrepreneurs. It's a partnership in the truest sense."

As marketers' love affair with music continues to grow, NonStop Riot has answered their call with brand building strategies and promotional campaigns that balance tangible metrics with social relevance; no small feat in a segment often plagued with me-too tactics that can only measured by "cool". The mutually beneficial relationship between brands and bands provides a new revenue stream for labels, a valuable set of exposure opportunities for artists, and positions the brand as socially-relevant in the consumer's eyes.

"As more and more lifestyle brands shift away from traditional high cost, above-the-line marketing tactics, they are looking for innovative and cost-effective ways to reach and inspire their target. NonStop Riot has ‘cracked the code' on how to authentically bring together brands with emerging bands to create a memorable consumer experience," explains Alex Bernstein, Managing Partner, North Venture Partners.

NonStop Riot has also launched a website, FeedingYouMusic.com, that aggregates new music from 2,000+ sites hourly providing a front row seat to monitor the bands that are on the cusp of breaking into the mainstream. Bands first tapped by NonStop Riot have gone on to be featured by brands from Apple to Heineken, landed their own series on MTV, and provide the nightly soundtrack for the most popular shows on television.

Green-Light Received For 'The Road Avenger' Novel

Based on the 1985 Data-East laserdisc feature "Road Blaster," G-Mode of Japan has given a green-light to MMP Publishing's "The Road Avenger" novel, to be released in 2009.

Written by Mary Margaret Park (author and poet) and co-produced by Sekrett Scilensce (composer and producer), "The Road Avenger" is the story of Blake Sanders, a man whose destiny is forever changed when a gang known as S.C.U.M. (Secret Criminal Underground Movement) slay his wife.

Methodically promoting anarchy and the breakdown of society, S.C.U.M. seeks to hold the world hostage, devouring one city at a time.

Before the reader's eyes are the politicians and behind the lies, there's the S.C.U.M. -- Blindly avenging a love once known, "The Road Avenger" must decide what is right -- In spite of his wishes to remain an honorable member of humanity, Blake treads the fine lines between virtue and dishonor.

"The original concept is 'Mad Max' like," author Mary Margaret Park explained, "So we've decided to make 'The Road Avenger' a psychological action drama, which will end up like a cross between 'Mad Max,' 'Ronin,' and Steven Soderbergh's 'Traffic.' Though we are expanding on a simple plotline, we are straying far from the typical Hollywood attitudes that engulf many fine stories."

Licensors in Tokyo were pleased and gave the project a thumbs-up -- A total of four chapters were showcased in a mock 6x9 binding, emulating the look and feel of the finished product.

Fans of "Road Blaster" (a.k.a. "Road Avenger" in the U.S.A.) can visit http://www.theroadavenger.com to obtain more details about the novelization and are encouraged to join the demo club.

Realizing the money that could be made within the interactive content, Data East began developing arcade video games in 1979 and established a U.S division. By 1985, Data East had shifted away from interchangeability to concentrate themselves on video games only.

Mysterious CATMAN COHEN...Writing Songs That Make The Whole World Cry

Little is known about mysterious CATMAN COHEN, but one thing is for certain: the shadow musician has gained a strong cult reputation for writing dark songs that make women, children, and even grown men cry.

In what is the first glimpse into Catman Cohen's childhood, THERE WAS A BOY details the loss of innocence and all the pain that ensues. It is the feature track of Catman Cohen's long awaited third CD....HOW I WANT TO DREAM: the Catman Chronicles 3...slated for a February, 2009 release.

Grammy award winner and producer/arranger James Lum stated, "I have worked for many notable label artists over the years, performing some very intense sad songs, but it's been a long time since I've heard a song with the emotional effect of 'THERE WAS A BOY.' It seems to have a devastating impact upon most people who hear it, since we all can relate to the manner in which life's difficulties steal the child within us all."

THERE WAS A BOY can be sampled at:

http://www.myspace.com/catmancohen

THERE WAS A BOY features special vocal performances by Christopher Spinks and Matthew Lum.

THERE WAS A BOY will be made available for purchase on iTunes and a large variety of similar download sites in late February.

-------------------

THERE WAS A BOY

There was a boy
Playing on a swing
Deep in love with life
Loving everything

And he’d speak to God
When all alone
Making deals with God
‘Bout his dreams and hopes

When the night would fall
And he’d lie in bed
Listening to the tunes
Playing in his head

And the boy made a wish,
Prayed to God up high
"Let me write a song
Makes the whole world cry
Let me write a song
So tender, sad, and sweet
The kind of song
Drops men to their knees."

Nowhere near a man
He didn’t understand...

That to write a song
Makes the whole world cry
Have to hold the hand
Of a friend who dies
Hear your brother curse your name
Watch your mother fade away
While crooks steal your gold
Suffer years being alone

Nowhere near a man
He didn’t understand...

That to write a song
Makes the whole world cry
Have to fall in love
Then be denied
Meet hopeless kids
Raised in cruel neglect
Hear animals scream
Tortured half to death

There was a boy
Prayed to God up high
"Let me write a song
Makes the whole world cry
Let me write a song
Tender, sad, and sweet
The kind of song
Drops men to their knees."

If I could reach that boy
Before it gets too late
Warn him there are wishes
You should never make

But that boy was me
And it’s far too late
Wrote this song in tears
Wrote this song in pain

And now I’m a man
And now I understand
So torn up inside
Just want to cry

I want to cry
Cry, oh, cry
Oh, God, I want to cry

About GESUNDHEIT! INSTITUTE:

The Gesundheit! Institute is a home-based hospital founded by Dr. Hunter "Patch" Adams in 1972, located outside of Hillsboro in rural West Virginia. The Institute states its vision as being dedicated to revolutionizing health care delivery by replacing what the Institute sees as greed and competition with generosity and compassion. Creation of Gesundheit! Institute was a topic of the 1998 movie Patch Adams starring Robin Williams. Since the 1970s, the Gesundheit Institute has treated over 15,000 patients without payment, medical insurance or formal facilities. One of the continued missions of the Gesundheit! Institute involves the concept of Humanitarian clowning. The project uses the theme of laughter as an integral element of effective doctoral care. In the past, the Gesundheit! Institute has taken clowns into the war zones in Bosnia, refugee camps in the Republic of Macedonia, as well as South African AIDS orphanages. In October 2007, Patch Adams and the Gesundheit Board unveiled its campaign to raise $1 million dollars towards building a Teaching Center and Clinic on its land in West Virginia. The Center and Clinic will enable Gesundheit to see patients and teach health care design. The Gesundheit! Institute was recently featured in an interview of Patch Adams, conducted by Greater Good Science Center. Adams has been raising money for the Institute for nearly three decades, and his goal is to open a 40-bed hospital in rural West Virginia that offers free, holistic health care to anyone who wants it.

About VOLUNTEERS WITHOUT BOUNDARIES:

After working as a registered nurse in emergency rooms throughout the United States, Mary Lightfine, a woman who thrives on challenges, decided to join an organization called Doctors Without Borders. That decision has changed her life. Since then she has lived and worked in more than a dozen countries, including some of the most hellish spots on earth. Mary was ambushed and shot at in Somalia and delivered babies in the jungles of Sri Lanka. Mary traveled through perilous Afghani Mountains infested with land mines by jeep, foot and Donkey to reach isolated inhabitants. She brought food to starving refugees by plane in south Sudan, after their villages and crops were destroyed by northern government alliances. She was also one of the first to provide medical aid to Kosovar refugees who had experienced unthinkable horrors. Mary, a seasoned veteran of the Nobel Prize winning organization Doctors Without Borders began sharing her moving stories with students across the United States in 2000. After hearing about her experiences numerous students wanted to spend their time helping others abroad but couldn't find organizations that would accept them into their programs. Most medical volunteer organizations accept only licensed professionals with a minimum of two years prior experience. In collaboration with medical professionals and communities south of the border Mary Lightfine is now able to provide the "opportunity of a lifetime" to others through the founding of Volunteers Without Boundaries Inc., a non profit charity organization.

Who is Catman Cohen?

Mysterious and controversial CATMAN COHEN is the strange, silhouette artist with the raw bullfrog voice.

Some critics call him the "musical Loch Ness Musician." Others refer to him as "the songwriting Sasquatch." No pictures, no standard biography, and an adamant refusal to perform live, despite various invitations to do so.

Described as "Rock Opera," his songs are based upon social action, notably a cry for the resurrection of neglected heroes (nurses, firemen, teachers, paramedics, universal peace-keepers, environmentalists, human rights activists, etc) and urgent warnings about the imminent fresh water crisis developing in the nation.

The Catman Chronicles feature a variety of guest vocalists, including Goths, she-males, and breathy, sexy sirens. Various music critics have denounced his "out of the box" approach...yet the Catman perseveres down his chosen path, knowing that there is no turning back from doing what must be done, knowing that we must........

Bethany & Rufus - Linin' Track (roots/folk) MP3

On "Linin' Track," Bethany Yarrow showcases more of her vocal range than before, to arrive at a great end result. She pours a lot of emotion into her words, switching between slightly gravelly low notes and soft and pleasant higher ones, singing with the power of Sarah McLachlan. Rufus Cappadocia's slick cello playing provides smooth bass undertones throughout the song and also demonstrates how good music can support a simple vocal structure like Bethany's, to make a song sound like it's grooving from start to finish.

Download Free MP3 of the "Linin' Track"

"Unbelievable!" is the word most used by audiences when first hearing Bethany & Rufus whose cello and voice duo breaks new musical ground, sliding with seamless ease between groove, jazz and a gritty, unvarnished approach to traditional folk music. With its often exuberant and sometimes achingly sad songs, their debut CD, "900 MILES" blends Bethany Yarrow's hauntingly beautiful yet explosively powerful voice with the mind-blowing, genre-bending cello playing of Rufus Cappadocia, pushing the boundaries of American roots music far into unexpected territory where intense groove meets sweet, heartbreaking soul.

Kordor Electronics Releases Digital Cinema Movie Distribution Technology

Kodor Electronics gives a boost to the digital cinema initiative today with the release of the KodeKey™ Professional Zip Platform for Windows and Mac OS X computer systems.

Movie studios are expected to make wide investments in digital cinema upgrades in 2009 following a ten-year research and development period starting with the 1999 digital release of Walt Disney Pictures Bicentennial Man. Digital films are packaged and distributed using an industry standard specification called the Digital Cinema Package (DCP). Part of the DCP specification is the digital film MXF container that can range in single file sizes of 60GB to 500GB. Today, digital films are delivered by hard drive or satellite data transmission using fulfillment services from companies like Technicolor, Kodak, and Deluxe. Legacy celluloid reel manufacturing and distribution costs movie studios up to $1500 a print per theater. Digital distribution provides a dramatic drop in initial distribution investment for movie studios but has proven to be a bit costly due to hard drive delivery and expensive satellite rental time. The cost savings reserved from digital versus celluloid distribution is planned for investments into digital projector upgrades for theater vendors by the movie studios.

Delivering a system with an average per film distribution cost of $70, the KodeKey Zip technology is an online powered zip format that replaces the internal data storage of a traditional zip file with the cloud storage infrastructure of the Amazon Web Services S3 platform. By using an upload and download manager, the format can manage hundreds of gigabytes of data in a zip file less than 1 kilobyte in size per movie.

Optionally, the format can create 1,344,000-bit password certificates to add additional access protection as an accessory to KDM encryption keys sent to theater vendors to unlock playback rights for MXF containers.

Broadband delivery of digital films has been a challenge in the past due to poor TCP connections and poor designs of online storage servers required to handle single file sizes above 5GB. KodeKey Zip has been tested and approved for up to 1TB of single file archiving validated by rigorous 12-mode hash string calculation certification.

"KodeKey Zip has been designed to easily deliver 300GB digital films as an e-mail attachment to thousands of theaters simultaneously", says inventor and Chairman William G. Blanchard, "We are honored to work with the digital film initiative and look forward to provide support to the digital movie industry worldwide."

More information about the KodeKey Zip system can be found at http://www.kodekey.com

PayPal Zip Technology Released To Save The Music Industry

The Retail Zip Company has announced the release of the Retail Zip® Format-as-a-Service (FaaS)™ for Windows and Mac OS X computer systems.

Retail Zip is a turn-key ecommerce powered zip format that combines the familiar user interface of a zip program with built-in online storage from Amazon Web Services and a PayPal shopping cart. Unlike other zip formats that archive data on a hard drive inside a compressed container, Retail Zip archives uncompressed data onto secure online servers located in USA or Europe, reducing the zip file size to less than 1 kilobyte per package.

E-Commerce is embedded for 18 currencies with PayPal, allowing sellers to charge buyers for the privilege to extract digital goods. Extending the power of the payment system is a patented enhancement that can divide the sum of a payment to multiple partners and affiliates at the point-of-sale of a transaction.

Until now, setting up digital products on web servers designed to handle millions of downloads was an expensive and confusing task for sellers looking for a PayPal alternative to iTunes. By integrating the cloud infrastructure of Amazon Web Services, sellers can handle an unlimited amount of simultaneous sales with automatic scaling unlimited bandwidth.

To create a bridge between online content delivery and physical retail, the format utilizes the KodeKey Password System. KodeKeys are unique pin codes that can be generated and assigned to Retail Zip packages for digital distribution with Variable Data Print (VDP) media, such as paper inserts, flyers, and plastic gift cards.

Features:
* Get started with a PayPal account
* Password generator for download retail cards
* Split payments with band members
* Built-in affiliate system
* Secondary zip format included for professionals (without ecommerce)
* Partnership with trusted industry leaders PayPal and Amazon Web Services

More information about the Retail Zip system can be found at www.retailzip.com
