Zimbalam's Digital Music Distribution Service Launches In North America
Website: http://www.zimbalam.com
Paris, France - March 11, 2010 - Zimbalam, the largest digital music distribution and marketing network, today announced the launch of the US version of its distribution network. Zimbalam, owned by independent music distributor and service provider Believe Digital, provides artists with access to 25 of the most popular music stores such as iTunes and Spotify and unprecedented global reach through several hundred additional stores worldwide.
Zimbalam delivers transparency and marketing control to artists with real-time daily sales data, CRM tools such as email newsletters and social networking promotional widgets. Zimbalam's widgets make global marketing easy by automatically detecting a person's location and then promoting to the most popular music stores for that region.
To maximize artist revenues, Zimbalam simply charges an industry-low annual fee so artists can keep 100% of royalties. Zimbalam's nominal fee is $29.99 in year one then $19.98 per year after for an EP or album. Once the fee is recouped, artists keep 100% of royalties generated from sales. After the initial year, artists are only charged if they have sold enough music to cover the low fees, essentially eliminating financial risk.
To celebrate the South by Southwest (SXSW.com) festival, Zimbalam is offering a special rate through the end of March, with distribution of the first album at a reduced rate of $5.99. Artists taking advantage of the special rate can effectively start making money after only one album is sold. Artists can take advantage of this offer by using the code SXSW when signing up at www.zimbalam.com.
"With Zimbalam, our goal is to bring the largest distribution network, the strongest marketing tool set and the greatest revenue potential, all at the lowest price point, to the US independent music community, " said Believe Digital and Zimbalam CEO Denis Ladegaillerie. "We want to make sure that independent artists have the chance to not just realize the best business opportunities, but also to realize the opportunity to break through on a global basis."
Bridging the gap between the independent music community and major labels, Zimbalam also gives artists with breakout potential the opportunity to benefit from the A&R team of parent company Believe Digital (www.believedigital.com). Artists with strong performance on the Zimbalam network are assigned a personal A&R manager to provide valuable advice and support on release strategy, marketing and promotion investment and to ensure they are receiving the greatest exposure while maximizing monetization opportunities.
About Zimbalam and Believe Digital
Believe Digital is the largest distributor for independent music community, based on both geographic reach and number of distribution outlets. Give The Gift Of Music Promotion This Season With Mi2N Music PR
Url: http://www.mi2n.com/gift.php3
As part of Mi2N's continuing efforts to make its services available to more artists/musicians, the company will begin offering the purchase of its Mi2N press release distribution services in the form of gift certificates for the upcoming holiday season. The decision to do so was quite logical, partially due to Mi2N's popularity as well as the current economic climate.
"People love giving gifts to their friends and family for the holidays, but during economically challenging times, they tend to choose gifts that are more practical than fun. By giving an Mi2N PR Gift Certificate, you can do both. We offer several PR distribution packages to choose from, so you can support your favorite artist and without breaking the bank," said Eric de Fontenay, Mi2N's Founder and CEO.
Ideal for artists and labels, as well as supporting promoters and agencies, the Mi2N Music PR service provides guaranteed press release placements through a network of newswires, eGroups, blog communities, boards and forums, as well as MP3 and video distribution. In addition to guaranteed PR placement, the packages provide exposure through the Mi2N website, and multiple other sources with target based distribution. Through Mi2N's penetration in the music industry as well as its diverse and substantial delivery network, your giftee's PR announcement will be seen by prospective fans, promoters, labels - everyone who's anyone in the music industry.
"You can be the best artist/musician in the world, but if you aren't able to get news out about your music, upcoming releases, or performances to music industry professionals, it really doesn't matter. Waiting to be discovered based on talent alone is like trying to find a needle in a haystack," de Fontenay continued. "There are lots of talented artists who know that visibility and exposure are critical to their success. It's what separates them from the rest. They have a better chance at being successful, not necessarily because they are more talented, but because they know that publicity is a need, not a luxury, and they make the investments accordingly to acquire as much exposure as possible. We're proud to play a role in making that happen."
If the person you love is a talented musician, then you probably know how hard they work on making their music the best it can be. This holiday season, you can help them to tell the world about it by giving them something they'll thank you for: a seasonal gift certificate for the Mi2N Music PR marketing service.
Mi2N gift certificates will be available for purchase beginning December 1st. Get yours at http://www.Mi2N.com/gift.php3

MPress Records Signs Seth Glier To Multi-Album Deal
New York, New York - MPress Records has just inked a three album deal with 20-year-old pianist/singer-songwriter Seth Glier. MPress, which has internationally distributed nine albums by art-pop songstress Rachael Sage, also produces the NEW ARRIVALS charity compilation series, and has presented artist showcases at such industry events as SXSW, CMJ, Folk Alliance Conference and MIDEM.
Glier, who hails from Western Massachusetts and was recently featured in The Boston Globe for his 100% Fan Funded Tour, is a multi-instrumentalist who has released several DIY projects since his early teens. His combination of raw talent and surprising maturity caught the attention of MPress founder Rachael Sage, who was immediately struck by his prodigious musicianship and sophisticated lyricism.
"Seth's songwriting is classic, and hearkens back to great piano-based songwriters who broke in the '70s like Billy Joel and Elton John...but he has an impressive range that grabs new audiences immediately, and his sense of melody is incredibly strong." After what Sage describes as a "very organic process" - including a featured performance slot at the label's 2009 SXSW showcase - she and MPress Label Manager JoJo Gentry decided Seth would be a perfect artist for the MPress roster.
As Gentry observes, "Seth's songwriting ability is exceptional, and he's also just a really compassionate, down to earth guy. He leaves his ego at the door, and is all about making a genuine connection with his audience, and taking risks." MPress will nationally release his self-produced effort, THE TROUBLE WITH PEOPLE, this fall.
Seth will also make his overseas debut August 7-12th, performing in week-long run of Sage's show "Sequins & Shpiel" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A seasoned touring artist who has already shared stages with John Mayer, Martin Sexton and Erin McKeown, he'll continue to tour the East Coast throughout the summer, and will launch his official Release Tour for THE TROUBLE WITH PEOPLE in October.

E1 Entertainment Distribution U.S. (Formerly KOCH Distribution) Partners With RightsFlow For Mechanical Licensing And Royalty Services
Port Washington, NY - April 30, 2009 - E1 Entertainment Distribution U.S. (formerly KOCH Distribution), the USA's leading and fastest-growing independent music company in the U.S, and RightsFlow, a provider of bulk mechanical licensing and royalty services, announced today that E1 will offer its distributed labels the ability to utilize RightsFlow's proprietary mechanical licensing 'FLOW' system to license, account, and pay publisher royalties for DPD, interactive streams and limited downloads, including subscription and ad-supported models.
"Partnering with RightsFlow allows E1 to provide its distributed labels with access to RightsFlow's unique, cost-saving, bulk mechanical licensing program" stated Michael Rosenberg, President of E1 Entertainment Distribution U.S. "In RightsFlow, we have a proven partner who can manage this important area of our distributed labels' business. By relieving themselves of the burden of this time-consuming and increasingly complex task, our labels have more time and energy to do what they do best - produce content for E1 to distribute - and publishers and songwriters rights are properly licensed and compensated."
"RightsFlow is delighted to enter into this relationship with E1 Entertainment," adds Duncan Hutchison, Chief Content Officer of RightsFlow. The current U.S. statutory mechanical rate for permanent downloads is 9.1¢ for songs five minutes or less and 1.75¢ per minute for songs over five minutes. Limited download and interactive streaming services generally pay a mechanical royalty of 10.5 percent of revenue, less amounts owed for performance royalties. To ensure publishers and songwriters are properly compensated under U.S. law, RightsFlow's licensing service utilizes the bulk licensing system of The Harry Fox Agency, Inc. Emerging Music Markets: Russia And Mobile Music
By Eric de Fontenay, MusicDish e-Journal
Music industry professionals may not think of Russia as a high-growth market for international expansion. That oversight though may representative loss opportunities for music companies looking to buck the present recession.
The Russian music industry made it's presence felt at this year's MIDEM as the spotlight country, and for good reason. Outside of Germany, Russia represents the largest internet population in Europe with 40 million surfers. Add to that fact that it is the 4th largest mobile market (after China, U.S. and India), with growing physical (10% increase in 2007) and digital sales, and the allure of the market for music companies worldwide is clear. "Russia is in a phase of rapid expansion and on its way to becoming a major player and an essential partner for the rest of the industry," noted MIDEM director Dominique Leguern.
Cornwall-based independent record label Aardvark Records is one of the companies taking full advantage of this emerging market's possibilities as it announced an agreement with Russian mobile content and service provider United Fun Traders (UFT). UFT, which supplies one of the biggest Russian mobile operators with music content, has licensed over 700 songs from the label's catalogue, including songs from dance acts Yahel and the gold-selling EricM, rock act Little Spitfire, singer-songwriter Everett Young and folk acts such as Steve O' Connor, Satya Graha and Moondragon.
"With a market of that size, everything is to play for," noted Aardvark Records director, Alex di Savoia on the label's practical expectations from the deal. "Conservative sales estimates from UFT will see a significant impact on our net sales revenue.
Russian dance music fans are already familiar with some of the artists on our label; namely Yahel, DJ Front and Zetan Spore. With the strength of sales, we're anticipating being in a position where more of our artists can begin touring Russia."

Audiolife Announces Public Beta Launch
As the economy continues to spiral downward, and cost efficiency takes center stage with every industry from finance to fashion, the young entrepreneurs behind Audiolife (www.Audiolife.com) could not have chosen a better climate to launch their groundbreaking technology and web-platform specifically designed to empower artists to make money. Not only does the solution fill a long-standing void in the music industry, but it also provides artists the opportunity to design, promote and sell their music and merchandise online with no up-front costs or physical inventory.
"A lot of companies come through my office trying to sell me on their latest distribution technology and websites," remarked Kevin Lyman, President of 4Fini Inc. and Founder of the Vans Warped Tour. "But Audiolife clearly offers the best, most comprehensive solution for unsigned artists and bands that need a means to monetize and distribute their music and merchandise."
The Audiolife platform allows artists to:
* Create their own virtual store with an unlimited number of downloads, ringtones, CDs and merchandise items.
* Sell directly to fans on any website, blog or social network on the web.
* Have one central place to design custom products and manage all e-commerce.
* Easily buy high quality, affordable CDs and merchandise with no minimums for live shows and events.
* Focus on making music while Audiolife handles all on-demand manufacturing, distribution, customer service and accounting.
"Audiolife was built around the specific needs of artists," remarked Brandon Hance, Founder and CEO of Audiolife. "We have spent over three years identifying the challenges artists have when trying to build their careers, and we have created a solution that integrates all of their needs into a single website that completely eliminates the need for start-up capital. Our goal is to create a middle class in the music industry by empowering artists and record labels with the necessary tools to make money in the new music business."
After using Audiolife’s platform during private beta, Indie Band The Harm noted: "I don't know why it took so long for music companies to leverage the internet. Before, it was such a hassle directing my fans to several different companies to purchase all our music and merchandise. Now we only go through Audiolife - and it's so easy to use and cost-efficient, for both our band and our fans! Glad to see there's finally a company catching on."

Kordor Electronics Releases Digital Cinema Movie Distribution Technology
Kodor Electronics gives a boost to the digital cinema initiative today with the release of the KodeKey™ Professional Zip Platform for Windows and Mac OS X computer systems.
Movie studios are expected to make wide investments in digital cinema upgrades in 2009 following a ten-year research and development period starting with the 1999 digital release of Walt Disney Pictures Bicentennial Man. Digital films are packaged and distributed using an industry standard specification called the Digital Cinema Package (DCP). Part of the DCP specification is the digital film MXF container that can range in single file sizes of 60GB to 500GB. Today, digital films are delivered by hard drive or satellite data transmission using fulfillment services from companies like Technicolor, Kodak, and Deluxe. Legacy celluloid reel manufacturing and distribution costs movie studios up to $1500 a print per theater. Digital distribution provides a dramatic drop in initial distribution investment for movie studios but has proven to be a bit costly due to hard drive delivery and expensive satellite rental time. The cost savings reserved from digital versus celluloid distribution is planned for investments into digital projector upgrades for theater vendors by the movie studios.
Delivering a system with an average per film distribution cost of $70, the KodeKey Zip technology is an online powered zip format that replaces the internal data storage of a traditional zip file with the cloud storage infrastructure of the Amazon Web Services S3 platform. By using an upload and download manager, the format can manage hundreds of gigabytes of data in a zip file less than 1 kilobyte in size per movie.
Optionally, the format can create 1,344,000-bit password certificates to add additional access protection as an accessory to KDM encryption keys sent to theater vendors to unlock playback rights for MXF containers.
Broadband delivery of digital films has been a challenge in the past due to poor TCP connections and poor designs of online storage servers required to handle single file sizes above 5GB. KodeKey Zip has been tested and approved for up to 1TB of single file archiving validated by rigorous 12-mode hash string calculation certification.
"KodeKey Zip has been designed to easily deliver 300GB digital films as an e-mail attachment to thousands of theaters simultaneously", says inventor and Chairman William G. Blanchard, "We are honored to work with the digital film initiative and look forward to provide support to the digital movie industry worldwide."
More information about the KodeKey Zip system can be found at http://www.kodekey.com
