Kira Alexi is an alternative rock American/Filipino singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Kira took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles at age 16 to pursue a career in music. Her music has been noted for her ethereal vocals, complex harmonies and introspective lyrics.



Kira's unique sound is accomplished with the help of her band consisting of international musicians & collaborators, featuring from Mexico, Aldo Vidal on Lead Guitar, Enrique Gomez on Drums and from Ecuador, Juano Argüello on Bass. New EP Release From Jazzy Sky - 'Breakfast'

The "Jazzy Sky" band is very pleased to announce the release of their first EP, composed of four Jazzy songs, on December 7, 2018 (pre-order available on the November 9th 2018). This project started in 2016 with the recording of their first single "Breakfast", performed by Elizabeth, and was finished in 2018 to include three other songs performed by guest singer: Camille Van Niekerk.

Camille is a singer and vocal instructor. She loves sharing the beauty and joy of music with others, whether through performance or teaching. Camille began studying voice and performing in musicals at age seven. In 2010, Camille began working at University, where she studied classical voice and jazz voice. Camille graduated Summa cum laude with a 3.98 GPA. After graduating, she earned her teaching credential and taught classroom choral and instrumental music. Shortly after moving, Camille began her private vocal studio, providing vocal coaching, ear training, and recording for students of all ages. When she is not teaching, she also sings with chorales and a Gospel Choir.



The music was composed by Stephane Querry, as were the lyrics (with the help of his brother Olivier). Stephane Querry is a pianist and composer who began piano at age eleven. After studying in different music schools, he received a classical piano scholarship to study with Michel Prady, and he has been luckily enough to be selected inside the prestigious professional classroom of France Clidat (at the "Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris") for 4 years (1999-2003), where he developed his technique in classical music. He studies Jazz (Harmony, Piano improvisation, band formation and rhythm) in the David Patrois Classroom in the musical conservatory of the 5th district of Paris and also in other various classrooms (Jean-Christophe Dorchies for example).



Very attracted to music composition, Stephane wrote a post romantic piano concerto and several classical transcriptions for the trio as well as several Jazz songs. The subject of this EP mainly concerns the first steps of a love story with the song "Tonight" which is about the first meeting between a man and a woman, "Breakfast" - a stay in a hotel far away from a love; "All or Nothing" which describes the wish to share a love story happiness with a deceased family member, and finally "In love" which is about the feeling of being in love, with a message of hope.

Instrumental rock guitarist Mike Dekleva releases his second four song instrumental rock music EP, "Psychedelia," on Friday, November 9, 2018.



"Psychedelia" follows in the footsteps of Dekleva's critically acclaimed and award-winning 2015 debut instrumental rock EP, "Synergy." Like "Synergy," Dekleva's new EP "Psychedelia" is a collection of four new original instrumental rock songs and was recorded at Paragon Recording Studios in Franklin, Tennessee, and in Dekleva's home recording studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. "Psychedelia" was co-produced by Dekleva and Nashville session guitarist Robbie Calvo, and features performances by Dekleva (lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars), Robbie Calvo (rhythm guitars), Jason Webb (piano and keyboards), Amanda McCoy (bass guitar) and Grady Saxman (drums and percussion). "Psychedelia" was mixed by Casey Barker at Paragon Recording Studios, and mastered by John Mayfield at Mayfield Mastering, in Nashville Tennessee.



Dekleva's guitar playing has drawn favorable comparisons to the playing of renowned guitarists Steve Lukather, Neal Schon, Dan Huff, and Eric Clapton. His music features strong vocal-like guitar melodies and pop-style musical arrangements, but also incorporates elements of classic hard rock music from the '70's and '80's. Dekleva's music has been described as having an abundance of "melody, timbre, tone and all-round class," that should appeal to not only fans of instrumental rock guitar, but to "music lovers in general." Triple Addiction is a band is made up of three brothers, who are triplets and their best friend. The band has had the opportunity to play all over from the New Jersey Balloon Festival to playing at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. Getting the chance to open up for bands like 3 Doors Down and R.E.O Speed Wagon, Billy Currington has been such a rewarding experience. On November 1st they will take the stage with legendary female rock singer Janet Gardner of the band Vixen, at the Stanhope House in NJ.

"We released a self-titled EP January of 2016 and have never looked back. We have gotten such a great response from all of our fans for all the hard work we put into it, that it has only motivated us more to record new music". Pace Pictures Posts Live Video Series For Benedict Cork

Pace Pictures provided post-production services for a remarkable series of live videos by breakout artist Benedict Cork. The five videos were recorded at Red Gate Recorders in Eagle Rock, California and are being released individually, one per month, in support of Benedict's debut EP The Piano Tapes. The videos were finished in Pace Pictures' DI theater with colorist Jason Knutzen applying the final 4K grade.



The novel approach of releasing five videos in sequence over a period of months was conceived by Benedict's manager Aubrey Wright as a way of organically building an audience for the 24-year-old singer/songwriter. "It's our way of showing the world who Benedict is as a composer, pianist and vocalist," explains Wright. "It seems everyone today is focused on putting out as much content as quickly as possible. We are taking a step back and producing high quality content in a measured way so that people can better appreciate his uniqueness as an artist." The videos were directed by Matt Edwards.



With its wood floors and bookcases stacked with vinyl albums, Red Rock Recording provides a warm and intimate backdrop for Benedict's heartfelt, lyrical music. Ghost, the first video in the series, is an emotionally raw ballad about a relationship on the brink. "All of the videos are very raw and real with few cuts," notes cinematographer Josh Figgs, owner of LA-based production company Compass Coalition. "Some are just one take. They are meant to feel live."



Pace Pictures provided dailies processing, media management, editorial conforming, final color grading and deliverables. During grading sessions, Knutzen worked with Figgs to give each video an individualized look. "A lot of the aesthetic came from how Josh lit them," recalls Knutzen. "In the theatre, we concentrated more on bringing out a style as it related to the music itself. We listened to the soundtrack while grading the videos and let the music drive the look."



"We shot everything RedCode raw, which results in very robust, malleable files," adds Figgs. "That gave us the most latitude in post-production to manipulate what I shot. I had a look in mind for the room and we able to hone in on that look, dial in on the mood and feel, and capture as closely as possible the look and vibe of the room."



The videos were finished in 4K so that they could be released to Spotify, YouTube and other venues at high resolution. "We held a screening session for Benedict in the theater," recalls Knutzen. "It was great to be able to showcase the finished work for the artist with the best possible sound and projected in 4K on a big screen. Doing the color in the theater was a great way to refine the look of these videos."

Yet, there are many other reasons too. It was worth letting everyone know that there are some good young players here on the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast. We were very privileged to have Rick Hirsch agree to engineer it. His insights from the era we touched on were primary. He is a primary source! We were very excited to work with him.



I also wanted to reach an under-served audience. We still hear songs like Led Boots on the radio; so there are still folks out there who like this music. This release has a lot to with the reverence and respect for the guys who made this music famous. If a few guys in their 20s and 30s can bring it to a grassroots audience, so much the better. That's how things get started. We need more musicians making music like this.



Most importantly, this is my first release and I wanted to begin with what I know best. Playing the drums."

Plunky Releases - "Only You" Smooth Groove/Afro-Mellow EP

The storied history of Afro-jazz funk legends Plunky & Oneness continues with a new album, "Eclecticism," to be released June 13 of this year. As a prelude to the new album, Plunky is releasing "Only You," a four-song maxi-single of Afro-mellow smooth grooves on March 13. While his maxi-single focuses on mellow vibes, the four tracks still showcase the variety and versatility Plunky and his group have shown for more than 40 years and 25 albums. Newness and innovation are on full display on this EP as Plunky and his son, J. Fire Branch, have produced a collection of personal songs with multiple layers of beats, sounds and meanings.

"The title tune, "Only You," is a smooth groove song about your one and only love. The tenor sax lead implies that it is a man speaking to his lover, but female background vocals make it clear that it is just as likely that a woman might sing it to hers. Every listener can hope that if they asked their lover "who makes you happy," the answer would be, "Only You." This song is my nod to Najee, Gerald Albright, Boney James, Kim Waters and all the smooth jazz saxophonists who make it mellow and funky at the same time.

"Love Makes Us Better" is about universal love. The modal piano vamp on the track hearkens back to the openness of John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" and Pharaoh Sanders' "Karma;" but this new song combines sequencing with live instruments, vocals and soprano sax. The song was produced using modern hip-hop/R&B sampling techniques, instrumental improvisation and lyrics to create a nu-cosmic jazz.

"The instrumental track, "Word of Mouth," could have been titled "Oral History" or "Speaking in Tongues." This is truly a new music construct, using voices as percussion instruments and overdubbed saxophones as a rhythm section. This is special, acoustic Nu-Afro-beat music; mellow and danceable.

"The introspective song, "Dream Safari," uses a new age soundscape and a smooth Afro-jazz groove to create a vehicle for a tenor sax excursion into dream land. The song is cinematic, expansive and intimate. A safari is an expedition and this is a soundtrack for a quest for wisdom, peace and love…

"These are songs for this season, and with these songs I am intimating a subtle African and cosmopolitan aesthetic, an understated and diverse Afropolitan jazz-funk music."

"Love makes us better" is a declarative statement of belief in the power of universal love. The new song written by acclaimed saxophonist J. Plunky Branch, expresses his personal belief in love as a positive force in human nature.



It turns out the man with the horn is also a man with a vision, as Plunky directed and produced this short-form video masterwork that explores the intersection of musical romanticism and political and social idealism. The message in the video is simple: love makes us better people and a better nation.



The mood and tonality of the song's instrumental track is definitely rooted in the cosmic jazz of the 1960s and 70s. During that era, Plunky worked with Ornette Coleman, Sam Rivers, Pharaoh Sanders, Rashid Ali, Lonnie Liston Smith, Ndikho Xaba and others while leading his group, Juju. Plunky produced two albums on the innovative jazz label Strata-East Records and two albums on Black Fire Records before establishing his own N.A.M.E. Brand Records label. Over the years Plunky & Oneness (of Juju) developed an Afro-jazz funk sound by combining soulful, polyrhythmic and improvisational styles.



On "Love Makes Us Better," Plunky evokes the sentiments of past cosmic jazz saxophone masters, as his soprano soars over the rhythm section guided by Dr. Weldon Hill's grand piano motif. Hip-hop producer J. Fire Branch's beats and funky drums propel the track into today's future tense. Plunky's raw lead vocals are smoothed by angelic background singers (Charlayne Green and Kala Page) as he delivers his simple but poignant lyrics:

Singer/Songwriter Mandy Bon Releases "Traffic Jams" EP

Singer/Songwriter Mandy Bon has released 'Traffic Jams,' an EP made up of four original songs sharing the artist's insights into the ups and downs of life. Each song on the EP, 'Super Glue,' 'LA Traffic', 'Only A Fake' and 'Saying Goodbye', have corresponding music videos that can be seen here. The objective of the EP is to gain the artist representation by a major or independent record label.

Unsure
Bon, a music major who plays piano, guitar and ukulele, decided to compose original music that reflected being a young twenty-something musician wondering aloud about her life path. "I get lots of ideas driving in L.A. traffic," says Bon. "A lot of songs come to mind." 'LA Traffic' highlights Bon being scared of commitment but willing to take the risk when she first started dating her future husband. "I was feeling very unsure about the direction of my life, was very nervous, I think people can relate," says Bon. "Kiss me in LA Traffic Take it slow we'll keep it classic Don't know where we're going But I'm not running away from You... You, me, and LA."

Getting Stuck
Another song on the EP titled 'Only A Fake' chronicles the universal frustration of getting stuck, with the anger being vented on oneself. "I wrote this when feeling very discouraged," says Bon. "In the end, the song is about pulling yourself out of that hole and keep stepping forward. Things will get better, even if at first it doesn't feel that way. Uke Ballad
'Super Glue' is a ukulele-propelled ballad of love written to Bon's husband. The corresponding music video has the artist playing uke while flipping boards highlighting both her art and lyrics. "And I like you, even when I bug you, and actually I love you, alot!"

Bon hooked up with violinist Maile Hutchinson to breathe life into 'Saying Goodbye', "an honest song poured out of me when I felt absolutely devastated." "I'm a mess Watch me cry Driving home Dripping Sky." "Ok, so basically a very cheery song," adds Bon with a laugh. For the EP, Bon composed, recorded and mixed each track. Bon also helmed most of the music video production herself.

Dan McCarthy Releases New Video And Single "Ladybug Point" Worldwide

It was 20 years ago while traveling the coast of Oregon when McCarthy and his then girlfriend Karen stopped to take in the view. It was there, as the two gazed at the beauty of the towering cliffs and with the sounds of the crashing waves below, the poem, "Ladybug Point" was written on a tattered piece of note paper. The two would later be married and go on the build their family and life together as the poem remained in a drawer for the next 18 years. In 2014, McCarthy was inspired to write a song from his poem and later was added as one of the songs on his first EP.



In 2016 McCarthy submitted one of his songs to Music 1 Radio, the internet radio station sponsored by Star 1 Group. Laura Patterson, President of Star 1 Group, Star 1 Records, and Shine On Records heard McCarthy's song and contacted him for a phone interview. What resulted was a newly produced video for Ladybug Point and a complete remix that became the soundtrack and a new single. "I was taken by both the simplicity and beauty of the song. After learning that it was inspired by a poem, it was easy to understand why", stated Ms. Patterson.

Her new EP is "New Revolution". Lead song "New Revolution" is a fast-moving dance number, epitomizing Meresha herself. It starts "It's a new revolution, we're bringing back the past" Meresha brings back the past not only through the use of vintage synths which help deliver her sound, but also through a return to real musicians composing and performing their own music.

Meresha is also part of a New Revolution in social media. Her EP will be the first ever World Premier music on the number 1 social media start-up tsu on April 7, one full week before public launch.
