CD Baby and Source3 Partner to Create Customized On-Demand Merchandise for 400,000 Independent Artists

Source3, the platform for licensing and distribution of 3D content, and CD Baby, the leading distributor of independent music, announced today a partnership to develop personalized merchandise for CD Baby's 400,000+ artists utilizing 3D printing technology and Source3's licensing platform. The partnership will enable CD Baby artists to produce short runs of personalized merchandise without the substantial upfront financial investment typically required to launch merchandise campaigns. The program is the latest in a series of CD Baby efforts to expand revenue opportunities for artists.

"We are always looking for innovative ways to help our artists engage their fans and generate more revenue," says Tracy Maddux, CEO of CD Baby. "By working with Source3, we can explore unique customizable merchandise for our artist roster. That's a dream for artists and fans alike."

Because each 3D print begins with a digital file and each digital file can be algorithmically modified prior to printing production, 3D printing enables creators to produce on-demand branded products without having to expend huge advance sums producing inventory that may or may not sell.

"Source3's mission is to deliver the promise of 3D printing to content owners at scale," says Patrick Sullivan, Co-Founder and CEO of Source3. "Source3 provides artists with access to best-in-class digital merchandise designs as well as the leading and most cost-effective 3D printing manufacturers. We have always believed that independent artists would be early adopters of 3D technology and CD Baby was the obvious partner in reaching such artists."

Morribi Records Launches New Website To Secure Record Contracts For Indie Artists

Morribi Records is launching a new website, designed to provide opportunities for unsigned independent artists by promoting their music onsite and “shopping” the top artists to music industry executives and professionals. The announcement was made by Okems Bright, Morribi’s Founder & CEO.

The end objective is to secure contracts with record labels, after an extensive process of artist development. Morribi Records has been assisting artists in this capacity since 2008 in Africa, Asia, and the UK, but created the site to reach more artists and provide a platform where the public and social networking sites also play a role in the final selection process. Artists must be able to play, sing, or produce, and they have an active ReverbNation account.

The first step is the submission of one song to the website. The Morribi Records team reviews all songs received, and selects the best of them. Each artist who is chosen has their song featured via a customized player for 24 hours, along with biographical information and a link to their ReverbNation page. After 24 hours, another artist is spotlighted, while the top 10 songs, based on the total number of plays, are continuously streamed.

Top 10 artists receive video, audio, and written interviews, and have press releases and track reviews written on their behalf. They may also elect to record with other Top 10 artists for more exposure and to highlight their diversity. These artists are groomed for success in every aspect of the industry. Each quarter, two artists are chosen from this group based on aggregated data such as the total number of plays, popularity on ReverbNation, social media site statistics (Facebook and Twitter), and the recommendations of record industry executives and professionals. Morribi Records then collaborates with labels to secure a record contract. If the artist accepts the contract, Morribi Records receives a small, previously discussed and agreed upon percentage, which is recycled back into the program to assist others.

Morribi Records partners with MusicDish, ViewHipHop.com, Island Records, Def Jam Recordings, MTV, ReverbNation, and The Entertainment Bank in this endeavor. Other services provided to artists include comprehensive management, development and promotion, digital distribution, concert and world tours, and gig swaps. Morribi Records also works with young ladies toward careers in modeling, acting, or dancing. The website will officially launch in September 2012.

Independent Recording Artists Are Gaining World Wide Exposure On Broadcast Network For Indie Artists

Broadcast Network For Independent Artists (BN4IA) began programming on May 19, 2012 to over 200 terrestrial (over the air) radio stations around the world and five internet radio stations. Since BN4IA began programming, they have picked up additional radio stations including Radio Brandy, which provides programming to over 200 college dorms in the U.S. and Indie 98 FM in Los Angeles and it’s affiliates in over 40 countries. The company also broadcast by satellite to over 25 Million home in North and Central America and this month will begin broadcasting to over 200 Million homes and businesses in Europe and the Middle East. The company broadcasts the music of independent recording artists from around the world on a 24/7 basis.

Independent recording artists who have been added to rotation on the BN4IA include Canadian artist Beatrice Love and her songs “Cold Shoulder” and “Genuine”; Elina Vasiljeva from Latvia and her song “I Can See Changes”; “Taken Away” by the English band, The Particles; Snez and her song “Green” from Australia and there are an additional 12 independent recording artist from the international market being added by the end of June. U.S. independent recording artists who are receiving song requests include the band Leadership by Assault from Seattle and their song “Sober Up” and the song by Cutting Edge called “Venomous Love Affair” which also entered the national digital radio charts top 200 last week at #88 and the international independent digital charts at #25. The biggest surprise is the “fun, quirky, alternative” band Naked In Public and their song “Gray Haired Lady”; a song about Gray Haired Ladies, of course. BN4IA congratulates Doug Fergus and his band, Naked In Public for having the most requested song of the week.

Most of the recording artists jumping on BN4IA love the idea that the company offers a store on their site so listeners can buy the songs directly from the station as opposed to having to search for the song on the internet. According to Music Director Ricky Ric, “the bands also love the fact the listeners of the radio network dictate which songs receive the most radio airplay on BN4IA”. Ricky Ric also stated “some of the bands with the higher rotation are beginning to accomplish this by letting their fans know to do song request and purchase songs at the BN4IA music store each week”. Bands receive points each time their song is requested or when someone makes a purchase of a song or album. “It is better to let the listeners dictate what is played on the radio as opposed to having some corporation dictate it” according to Ricky Ric.

Broadcast Network For Indie Artists was formed by the independent band, Cutting Edge to help independent recording artist around the world to expose their music around the world through the stations of the network. To submit songs to BN4IA or to listen to the station, simply go to http://www.bn4ia.com

You can also listen to BN4IA by going to Shoutcast and entering bn4ia in the search bar.

Award-Winning Artist Rachael Sage To Release 10th Album "Haunted By You"

Rachael SageSlated for release via MPress Records, May 22, 2012 New York, NY: Illustrious and riveting, Rachael Sage is a born performer. With mezmerizing vocals, a natural talent for songwriting and flair in droves, it's no surprise that the prolific songstress has garnered attention internationally. "Haunted By You", set to hit via Rachael's own MPress Records on May 22nd, is a song cycle about passion and features guest vocalists Dar Williams, Katie Costello and actor/director Joshua Leonard ("Blair Witch Project", "Humpday"). The NYC-based artist and producer explains, "I fell recklessly in and out of love multiple times while writing this record. I broke a couple hearts...and I also had my heart broken pretty badly". "Haunted By You" is a record that is immediately welcoming, pulling you in from the very first melodies and swirling effortlessly and seductively through your ears and into your heart on the very first listen. Rachael Sage has become one of the busiest touring artists in independent music, performing 150+ dates a year throughout the US, UK, Europe and Asia. Recognized globally for her compelling work, she has seen airplay on BBC Radio 2 and has shared stages with Ani DiFranco, Sarah McLachlan, Colin Hay, Judy Collins, Marc Cohn and Shawn Colvin. Rachael has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and New York's Fashion Night Out. She's garnered many accolades including the Grand Prize in The John Lennon Songwriting Contest as well as several OUTmusic and Independent Music Awards. Rachael's songs have been licensed to HBO, MTV and Lifetime Television and her music has also appeared in the movie and on the Lakeshore Films soundtrack of "Fame". Haunted By YouSage wrote the 13 songs on the album on piano and guitar after ending a long-term relationship. Alone, reflecting on her breakup, she found herself suddenly prolific. After her breakup she had an intense affair with someone she met overseas. "I was swept off my feet...but it was an impossible situation." "Soulstice", featuring Counting Crows' David Immergluck on mandolin, "captures that moment where I was as happy as I've ever been, even though it was fleeting." The concept of soulmates reappears throughout the record. Rachael wrote the Americana-inspired "Abby Would You Wait" about someone with whom she shared one long conversation after a gig, but with whom she connected so strongly that she saw an entire future. Likewise, the lush, acoustic guitar-based "Everything" celebrates the shameless joy of a new attraction, "when all you can see is shimmering possibility." Rachael, while an acclaimed artist in her own right, is also an accomplished business woman, running her own successful independent label MPress Records, which saw its first GRAMMY nod this year with Seth Glier's "The Next Right Thing" as well as their first Billboard charting record with Melissa Ferrick's "Still Right Here". Sage also produces her label's annual charity compilation series, "New Arrivals", whose current volume benefits homeless youth.
