Jazz & Beyond reinterpretation of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon

The most amazing reinterpretation of the Pink Floyd's timeless classic album by the Italian trio SAVOLDELLI CASARANO BARDOSCIA.

**********************

There's an old joke among instrumentalists:
What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians? Answer: A singer.

While this stereotype is overgeneralized to the point of being offensive, it is sadly too often the case that vocalists, particularly in the realm of mainstream commercial music, lack the deep musical knowledge of their instrumental counterparts. But one vocalist who emphatically puts the lie to this questionable cliché is the protean Boris Savoldelli, whose latest album The Great Jazz Gig in the Sky of his exciting new trio Savoldelli Casarano Bardoscia stunningly demonstrates that he is at least the equal of any instrumentalist - nay, any group of instrumentalists.

Boris didn't take an easy path in choosing to reimagine one of the most sacred albums of all time, Pink Floyd's monumental The Dark Side of the Moon. It surely didn't help that it's also one of the most frequently covered works of progressive music, from symphonic treatments to chamber arrangements to legions of Floyd tribute bands. But Boris always disdains the easy path, and unlike the many sterile, note-for-note versions of The Dark Side proffered by lesser talents, his rendition truly distinguishes itself by taking a strikingly imaginative and boldly creative new approach to the familiar material - in this case, a wholly absorbing interpretation that reflects his lifelong love of jazz and improvisation.

Boris pulls out all the stops with his vast arsenal of unparalleled vocal techniques, augmented by his provocative electronic treatments. But The Great Jazz Gig In The Sky is much more than just a vocal showcase, highlighting the formidable creative gifts of his partners, saxophonist extraordinaire Raffaele Casarano and bassist supreme Marco Bardoscia, plus a roster of distinguished guest musicians. The result is a kaleidoscopic marvel of sounds and emotions, delivered with élan, humor, impeccable musicianship, and above all a deep, abiding love for his inspirations, in a tour-de-force album that, we're sure all Lunatics will agree, truly deserves the superlative "Great". Once again, open-eared listeners have been gifted with a truly magnificent milestone from the fertile mind of the singular Boris Savoldelli.

Boris is a vocal performer with a brilliant personality. He's always been in love with his "vocal instrument" and its extraordinary possibilities. He loves to find different original ways of singing, due to his very different backgrounds, from classical studies until jazz singing (thanks to his mentor Mark Murphy), passing from funk-rock to avant-garde experimental approaches. Boris Savoldelli has performed solo and in various projects all around the world, with over 250 performances in over 120 cities just in Russia, as well all around Italy and Ukraine. He has also performed multiple times in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, USA, Brazil, Spain. In October 2015, Boris has received the Award at the Sergey Esenin International Literature Awards in Moscow for his project dedicated to Esenin poems in jazz.

An attractive voice, interesting ideas, exciting solos. - Howard Mandel, Jazz Journalist Association

One of the most intriguing vocal projects to come along in years.
- Arnaldo DeSouteiro, Jazz Station Records

The real revelation. - John Kelman, All About Jazz

On Easter Sunday 2015, The Light Will Shine In The Darkness

Introducing Composer/Pianist Chadwick Himsl and his debut contemporary classical piano solo album "The Light Shines in the Darkness" to be released April 5, 2015. Chadwick has come back to his first love after a long absence from music, putting together an album that has heart. Of special mention is the composition Newtown (in 3 movements). While the name brings to mind a terrible tragedy, far from being depressing or melancholy, and consistent to the theme of this album, we are lifted above it. Light shines out of the darkness and leaves the listener full of hope. In the artist's own words, "After the events of Newtown, I just felt like I needed to do something as a father. I thought of my own three boys with my oldest just a year younger than the kids at Sandy Hook. I thought I may not be able to change the world, but I can honor those kids through my music."

Also of note is the last piece on the album, "A Place Beyond," which was actually written when the composer was in college back in 1995. Chadwick Himsl: When I wrote this piece in college, I was quite happy with it, but I never thought anyone would hear it beyond the walls of the university. Technology has brought me to the place where my dreams of being a composer can become a reality. I am delighted to be able to share this piece with the world, especially because this is a piece I dedicated to my father.

The title track, "The Light Shines in the Darkness," is inspired by the biblical account of Genesis 2-3 and John 1:5: "The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light... "And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." True to the description, the first part of the piece is arguably dark with foreboding, irritable notes. But the darkness is short-lived as light enters in. Strings penetrate the darkness with a single note. The composition ends with a beautiful melody that the artist attributes to his outdoor wind chimes on a windy day.

Chadwick Himsl: I love the imagery of this event and the message it conveys. Things can be completely dark both literally and figuratively, but the tiniest amount of light cannot be stopped. It is a message of hope in a dark world. "For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." 2 Corinthians 4:6.

Dramatic New Solo Piano Album Represents Several "Firsts" For Award-Winning Artist Fiona Joy And Cookie Marenco’s Blue Coast Music Group

Elegant and soulful, contemporary and classical, all of these elements are part of Fiona Joy's solo piano performances on Signature - Solo. Fiona Joy's name is known to many thanks to her award-winning recordings, and yet Signature - Solo is her first solo piano release. In another first, it is also the initial release for Tiny Island Music, a new label created by Cookie Marenco as a division of her Blue Coast Music Group, a music company that caters to customers seeking a higher-quality audio experience. Signature – Solo, produced by Cookie Marenco, is immediately available for purchase in a variety of physical and digital formats at http://tinyislandmusic.bandcamp.com/

Tiny Island Music was created for music fans wanting top performances as Fiona Joy has given on Signature – Solo and a better audio experience that is more accessible to the mainstream. Marenco shares insights on Fiona Joy's music, and the inspiration to release it in more "mainstream" formats such as CD and mp3 through Tiny Island Music. "Fiona's music is a cross between George Winston's simple melodies and Ludovico Einaudi's musical sophistication. Her masterful performances are the perfect music to showcase the kind of clarity double DSD audio brings to the home listener; Fiona's fans needed a way to have a CD, mp3s and access to internet radio, and we deliver that through Tiny Island Music."

The artist and producer met several years ago when Fiona Joy signed to Blue Coast Records for high-fidelity recordings, as Marenco has partnered with Sony Music to deliver hi-resolution music to discerning audiophile consumers. Signature - Solo was originally recorded for an audiophile experience to be released via Blue Coast Records. Tracked live to analog tape and mixed to Double DSD Digital by Marenco, every nuance is captured as Fiona performs on an impeccably-restored 1885 Steinway piano. The CD and mp3s being released on Tiny Island Music have been optimized for mainstream fans who will also appreciate the high-quality aspects of these recordings without having to purchase upgraded playback devices.

For those wanting the full audiophile experience and have the gear to enjoy Fiona's music, Signature - Solo Audiophile Edition is available on SACD from Blue Coast Records. High Resolution Downloads in DSD128, DSD64, 192 WAV/FLAC or 96 WAV/FLAC are available at Downloads NOW!

Early reviewers are in favor of what they're hearing. Writer Lawrence Devoe (Blu-rayDefinition) wrote, "I heard echoes of George Winston in some of the tracks like 'Ceremony', and reminiscences of Michael Nyman's minimalist piano works in 'Fair Not', but Fiona Joy really brings her own voice that will take listeners deep into the heart of her contemporary music. The alternative version of 'Once Upon Impossible', an ethereal voice-piano duet, lets us see the other side of the artist."

In fact, the aforementioned duet presents another "first" that will please Fiona Joy's fans, as she makes her vocal debut on the song "Once Upon Impossible (Duet)." Also, a poignantly simple original version of the popular song "Grace" appears on the album; earlier this year, a remixed version of the song was part of a Grammy®-winning album.

Concert reviewer Michael Diamond, who attended Fiona Joy's 2014 Throckmorton Theatre concert in San Francisco where she first performed "Grace" and other pieces from Signature – Solo, commented "What I appreciated most was being able to listen and watch Fiona at the piano. The passion and elegance in her performance was breathtaking, as her flawless technique combined with pure emotional expression."

Taking a break from demanding rehearsals for her upcoming tour in China, Fiona Joy says that – in contrast to her last and somewhat more existential album 600 Years in a Moment – creating Signature – Solo with Marenco was a more inward journey, an exploration of maintaining magic in our lives, even when life itself gets in the way.

The Australia-based pianist/composer/producer and, now, vocalist adds "I hope that with all of these fantastic audio formats, every fan will be reached, and you will hear my feelings in these songs; they are dedicated to saving that small place in everyone's heart, the place where fairytales linger, and where we find the strength to meet our reality...with grace."

Signature - Solo Track List:
1. Ceremony [3:37]
2. Grace [5:43]
3. Fair Not [4:00]
4. Once Upon Impossible (Solo Piano) [3:28]
5. Calling Earth [3:49]

7. Signature [2:38]

Most importantly, these video lessons cover the etudes, and orchestral excerpts that musicians need to perfect for competitions or university, conservatory or professional orchestra auditions. In addition to video lessons representing the teaching artists life’s work, subscribing students can use their webcam, phone or other video device to show their instructor their progress. The teaching artists then provide personalized video responses with critique and comment on technique as well as priceless insight and the “inside track” on what is required in the highly competitive audition process. These interactions are available for all students to see and learn from. This new online approach represents a virtual master class where every participant gets personalized attention from the master.

Aire Libre From Felice Clemente & Javier Perez Forte On Sale March 13th

Aire Libre, the latest release from critically acclaimed Italian saxophonist Felice Clemente and noted Argentine classical guitarist, composer and arranger Javier Perez Forte will be available digitally March 13th on Crocevia di Suoni Records. Utilizing elements of Jazz, Afro, South American and Classical music, this 10-song release is a stunning, instrumental collaboration between two celebrated artists. Aire Libre is the result of Clemente and Perez Forte's open and free conception of music that overcomes limits, stereotypes and barriers. Inspired by a cultural diversity, the album's variety of rhythms, and diverse instrumentation take the listener on a remarkable, global sonic journey. Throughout the Aire Libre, Clemente's superb mastery of the soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone and clarinet establish intricate dialogues with the Perez Forte's inspired classic guitar that communicate powerful emotion without words. "Each of the ten tracks on this CD invites us to live a different state of mind -- not only because of the variety of rhythm but also because of the several colors of sounds suggested by the different instruments," says Clemente. On the track "A Don Agustin Bardi" -- Clemente and Perez Forte's musical prowess creates a subtle, jazz-tinged "conversation" between sultry guitar chords and bright, spirited tenor sax that brings to mind a wise elder speaking with a young, spirited soul. The fluttering, gentle strains of tenor sax on "Chuku" soar like a butterfly lifting up the listener with their lilting progression. While the complex exchange between guitar and saxophone on "Lila," is punctuated by the steady pulse of a metronome. "The several compositions presented in this work do not correspond to pure musical genres. We take Jorge Luis Borges' words and make them our own when we say, "Happily, we don't belong to only one tradition. We can aspire to all of them,'" says Perez Forte. Clemente's previous release, Nuvole di Carta, received four stars from Downbeat Magazine, stating, "Nuvole di Carta is an excellent record that demonstrates that Clemente and his peers deserve wider recognition in the United States." # # # For additional information please visit: www.croceviadisuonirecords.com, www.feliceclemente.com, www.javierperezforte.com About BFM Digital, Inc.
