Brent Byrd Tours...Til' The World Ends 2012

Florida acoustic touring musician Brent Byrd aptly titled 'The Peaceful Rebel Man’ will kick off his 2012 Til’ The World Ends Tour on February 1st beginning with a performance at Churchill’s Pub in Miami, FL. Byrd has been roughing it on the road to his dream, literally. Throughout 2011, Brent has been wearing out the tires on his 20' Coachmen RV touring the U.S. in support of his self-released CD 'Time To Start Livin'. He has been making waves across the country as an explosive live performer incorporating loops and acoustic instruments to create live improvised jams with a folk rock infused vibe. Byrd has most recently performed with Beverly McClellan from NBC-TV's The Voice at Flamingo Gardens annual Flamingo Fest in Davie, Florida. Over the years he has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many musicians to include Jason Mraz, Shawn Mullins, Uncle Tupelo (Jeff Tweedy, Jay Farrar), Thomas Ian Nichols (American Pie Movies), Velvet Revolver, Shinedown, Papa Roach and My Chemical Romance at Buzzfest XIV while touring with the band SuperDeluxe and Steve Ewing from The Urge as well as many other artists. Byrd currently resides in St. Augustine but grew up in small college town in east central Illinois. After graduating high school he traded in his guitar for an M-16 and set off on a 4 year hitch in Army. The experienced opened up his eyes to the problems and tribulations of the world which has become an inspiration for his songwriting. His music has been described as if Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix were jammin’ at a late night party and just before sunrise The Black Crowes and Bob Dylan showed up to add the finishing touches to an unforgettable evening of musical madness. Taiwan Superstars Mayday To Perform At Midem 2012 & Paris

Cannes has seen its share of stars and celebrities, but few have had as much impact in Asia's music scene than award-winning Taiwanese alternative rock band Mayday. With multi-million album sales and three Golden Melody Awards for Best Band, Mayday has grown into one of the pioneers of rock music in Taiwan and built a fanbase across East Asia. A Taiwanese rock band from Taitung in southern Taiwan, MATZKA combines reggae, jazz, folk, rap and rock with native Taiwanese elements. In 2009, they won the "Best Rock Band" award at the Hohaiyan Rock Festival competition and were the opening act for the Guns N' Roses tour in Taiwan in December 2009. In 2010, MATZKA performed at the Jisan Valley Rock Festival in Korea, and toured Panama, Paraguay and Peru. Available through China's top two mobile carriers China Mobile and China Unicom, the latter will be offering exclusively for free with a multi-year service contract costing as little as 286 yuan ($45) a month. Adding to the strain on China Unicom's data network, which is reportedly already struggling to meet demand, the phones will include bandwidth-hog Siri, an intelligent assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. To avoid the chaotic scene of the MEIZU M9 launch last year, only customers who had successfully pre-ordered an MX were contacted to go to their local store and pick the unit up. Shanren Present "Drinking Song" Video Shot in Southwest China

Earlier this year, Beijing-based indie folk band Shanren (literally "Mountain Men"), traveled across China's Yunnan province to take in and film the rich indigenous musical traditions. The band members, whose own songs mix folk melodies with rock and world music influences, visited rural villages of Yi, Lisu, Nu, Tibetan, and Wa minorities. While joining the villagers in song and dance, they found the music so tied up in the drinking culture-downing copious amounts of the local equivalent of moonshine, fiery homemade liquor distilled from rice or sweet corn-that they turned the boozy footage into the video for their "Drinking Song." 2,000 miles southwest of Beijing and home to 26 of China's 55 official ethnic minority tribes, Yunnan is thought to be the inspiration for the fictional Shangri-La of James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon. As the home province for three members of Shanren (the fourth is from neighboring Guizhou), the remote and colorful province, tucked between Tibet and Southeast Asia, continues to inspire artists. A new rumor had started to circulate that video portal Ku6 was going to move its Games and Music Operations from Shanghai to Beijing. Some Ku6 insiders recently confirmed the rumor, saying that employees willing to relocate will retain their position and salary level while receiving a 2000 RMB housing subsidy.

The official reason for this move is to improve coordination and communication of the Ku6 team. However, there's another rumor that the real purpose is to shutter the Shanghai departments, involving over 40 employees.

The rumor caps a difficult period for Ku6 since it reached an asset purchase agreement with entertainment media company Shanda that was completed on Aug. 17th 2010. Shanda has been trying to exert control over Ku6 since the start of the 2011. On March 14th, Ku6 founder Shanyou Li resigned as CEO while remaining on the board of directors. In May, Shanda's attempt to layoff 150 Ku6 employees, causing the resignation of Ku6's VP and Head Editor, followed by the departure of Shanyou Li from the Board of Directors and replacement of six senior management positions in Ku6 by Shanda executives.

While Ku6 subsequently promised no additional layoffs, the fact that most Shanghai employees are registered residents and unwilling to relocate means they will most likely end up "on the bench".

Across the straits, the Music Copyright Society of Chinese Taipei (MUST) and the Association of Recording Copyright Owners of the R.O.C. reached an agreement with the Chinese Taipei Professional Baseball League (CPBL) after two years of negotiations to pay copyright fees for the music played during games starting in 2012.

In order for the baseball fans to hear more pop songs during the game instead of boring CPBL songs, CPBL will be the first sports organization in Taiwan to pay music copyright fees. Even though there is no regulation in the Copyright Law for the open use of music by professional sports, CPBL wanted to take the lead. The move represents big step according to a CPBL officials, as it will benefit sports fans most while respecting Taiwan music copyright owners.

Looking to back to the mainland, NetDragon's subsidiary Boyuan Wireless has signed a strategic partnership agreement with China Mobile's Wireless Music Base. This partnership will provide over 30 million smart phone users with better music products and also promote legal music use in the mobile Internet arena.

Boyuan Wireless CEO Hongzhan Chen noted that Boyuan's 91 Mobile Platform is the biggest mobile app platform in China, with over 80% and 50% market share of the iPhone and Android markets respectively. Meanwhile, China Mobile's Wireless Music Base is the largest legal music distribution platform, accounting for the most music sales and user interaction in China. The partnership is likely to resolve several copyright issues in the mobile sector.

Let's move to some lighter news in China. Xinhua News Network Corporation (CNC) launched a Folk music website WOW Music on December 19th. The move into the entertainment field represents an important step for Xinhua, a media giant in China that has been working to establis itself as one of the world's leading multimedia news agencies.

From stories to pictures and audio to video products, "China's first folk music portal" will be a stage for introducing Chinese folk culture heritage to the world and "turn these resources into cultural soft power", said producer Xiaomeng Hu.

"Superheroes" offers the first peek into the upcoming release The Futuristic World Suicide. Produced by D. Still and Thee Lost Symbol of Still Grindin' Productions, the song descends upon the metropolis with a triumphant fanfare, the type that conjures up images of caped crusaders looming large over crime-infested cities. The fanfare is cut short in favor of shiny synth riffs that sparkle and dance throughout the track. Juan Rogelio, Big Boi Plat, and The Real John May are a trio of lyricists that form a six-armed swagger beast full of boastful bars and cinematic scenarios. High-pitched chords ride a tambourine wave and a drum sequence that knocks for several city blocks, providing the perfect accompaniment for these emcees to examine their unusual abilities. It even spills over into where the vocal hook should go, so that there isn't a memorable chorus, but a comparison of superhero powers and seeing where orators fall on that list.

A pair of remixes offer alternate moods and both of them work well. The first remix features a dark bass line that wobbles and wiggles its way through static slaps and added percussion. Warm keys light the path for the other elements to follow. The Matrix Mix strips the production bare to low, menacing tones and metallic toms that reflect off the walls. Percolating electronic pulses gurgle underneath the surface and make tiny explosions, resulting in sonic splashes all over the beat. It's clear that Rogelio, Plat, and May have partnered themselves with stellar producers, which make their lyrics sound all the better. While they may not possess superpowers in the comic book sense, there's no denying their chemistry on the microphone. If you can imagine Batman driving through Gotham and digging the scene with a gangster lean the entire time, then you have juststumbled upon the vibe that "Superheroes" attempts to approach.

MarilynMusic Collaborates With Rising Stars And Established Names

MarilynMusic's Casey Conrad answers the phone from his studio, The Vertical Room on the Upper East Side of NYC on a cool Friday afternoon. He is present, but his voice sounds almost far away. It is apparent that his focus is on tracks to be produced. He says he's excited to talk about them, but even more so to get off the phone and get back to work. He has a lot on his plate, including collaborations with rising stars like Sera Buras of NBC's 'The Voice', to more established names like Michael Bolton. Conrad has worked with many names in the business, and is always looking to work with new talent.

Although hesitant to talk about his creative process, stating "it's too mysterious for me to try to put into words," he's nevertheless excited to talk about a new track that MarilynMusic just released on iTunes called "Jump". "I co-wrote it with Michael Gaines, a lifelong friend and my business partner in MarilynMusic. We grew up playing music together and both feel very fortunate to have this gift," he told me.

The energetic pop dance tune features artist Wallace Gary, who has worked for many years with Ashford and Simpson. Nick Ashford was one of Conrad's songwriting idols and will be "sorely missed for his beautiful songs and his gentle heart."

Conrad is currently producing a track for Michael Bolton which was co-written by Joanne Perica, a Canadian singer-songwriter and frequent collaborator. The track features guitarist Phil Hamilton (Luther Vandross etc...).

"Joanne Perica has been a co-producer, co-writer, colleague, and most of all a friend," Conrad explains. Their close professional relationship has lead to many great projects including other tracks with Bolton.

They are also in the early stages of a new album for Perica that will have a pop-rock influence. To this end they've enlisted the talents of guitarist Zane Carney of 'Carney' (the house band of Broadway's 'Spiderman Turn off the Dark'.) "He's a very talented guy and very prolific in his abilities. Great chops, good all around pro... he has some great stories and I enjoy working with him," Conrad says of the young guitarist. They also added Carney's "chops" to an urban dance track called 'Fearless', co-written with Perica and new artist Sage, which should be released shortly.

When asked about other projects, he said he's mixing world famous jazz pop guitarist David Spinoza's new album. Spinoza is a well respected studio artist who's played on over 4,000 recordings. The team for this record, which is being produced by old friend Gary Haase (also playing bass), includes David Mann on sax, Cliff Carter on keyboards, Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, and Conrad on percussion.

Recording artist Sera Buras has also co-written and recorded a track produced by Conrad at his Vertical Room studio called 'By Your Side' that is moving along swiftly.

"Sera has been working on evolving her style and has gotten to a place where her talent as a piano player as well as a singer is being highlighted," Conrad states. "She has a gospel background, she plays amazing organ... but maybe her greatest strength is her traditional roots... that is what's being discussed...there will definitely be an interesting range."

"Two Minds" by The Sons by musicdish

The single "Two Minds" by UK-based indie rock band The Sons is very on trend, considering the current success of country influenced alternative rock (See: Kings of Leon). The song takes a subdued, quiet start, with just a hint of slide guitar and the tiny accent in the lead vocal. Halfway through though, the song blossoms with a louder, richer, and even more complex sound, as if the band was holding back until this point. The song is almost completely different than when it started, with an energy and style that gives it a unique voice. The vocals that are at once playful and commanding, demonstrates a confidence in its delivery and message. Now if The Sons could take their "Two Minds" and focus them on this one voice, that would be something special.

Denmark natives Dead Smiling Pirates went for a more meaningful message this time around with their video for their new single, "By The End Of". The band has forgone any screen time to try and send a message about the pain of war and the trials of a soldier. Which at the moment is timely for so many people around the world.

Sounding very much like one of their influences, Blink 182, it could be said that Dead Smiling Pirates finds a way to sound like nineties pop-punk while staying current with vocal harmonies and interesting riffs from their other influence, Muse.

One of the more impressive sections of the video is a ten second sequence within the footage, where the cuts are in time with the music. The segment is probably the most hard hitting and resonant of the video. The video is mostly longer lingering clips showing war and injury, with Iwo Jima footage giving a gritty portrayal with a somewhat eerie feeling of anticipation building. Towards something else, towards a bigger conflict, a more graphic or dramatic scene, and as the video goes on it get slightly darker, showing a few of the dead men on the beach the music then goes in "for the kill" to drive home the message.

The band has a very connected sound, they make sense together, cleverly pairings of influences and chords, results in a solid sound, and the visuals are interesting, it seems that the viewer may want more from the band by the end.

Dream Chemistry's Eclectic Second Album Debuts December 2nd

Phoenix, Arizona - With the December 2nd release of Dream Chemistry's second studio album, Images of White, the band further refines the blend of progressive folk rock and jazzy gospel that helped its self-titled debut album garner an international following.

New to Dream Chemistry's line-up is singer Dellynn, whose luminous vocals are a powerful accompaniment to the band's spiritual and often Celtic vibe. Dellynn joins Jimmy Caterine, the former guitarist of Sacred Rite (Capitol Records), and bassist Neal Harris. Caterine and Harris founded Dream Chemistry in 2007 with the hopes of raising funds for various charitable causes. Jimmy Caterine (guitar, vocals) is most noted as founder, guitarist and co-writer for 80's rock quartet Sacred Rite (Capitol Records.) Tony Adamo Meets Tower Of Power Meets The Headhunters

A new CD that has recently been recorded is being described as “Tony Adamo meets Tower of Power meets The Headhunters” set to be released in early 2012. This unique set teams together singer and spoken word artist Tony Adamo with drummer-producer Mike Clark, several members of the Headhunters and special guests. The drummer says of the project, “The three elements on the CD are rhythm and blues (we married some old ideas with some newer surprises), a heavy blues saturation and some straight ahead bebop. There is even some avant-garde music and a duet with drums and voice.”

In addition to Tony Adamo, the lineup of musicians include Rob Dixon on tenor, alto and keyboards, trumpeters Derrick Gardner and Pharez Whitted, guitarist-keyboardist Gary Mielke, organist Delbert Bump, guitarist Steve Homan, bassist Brett Palm, percussionist Bill Summers, Mike Clark on drums and co-founder of Tower of Power, Doc Kupka on bari sax.

The musical friendship of Adamo and Clark began about six years ago. Tony, whose warm deep voice is perfectly at home in a variety of settings whether it is soul or swing, is a creative improviser with an accessible yet unpredictable style. His style is friendly, personable, very musical, and open to spontaneity as can be heard on his two prior recordings, STAIGHT UP DEAL and WHAT IS HIP. Mike Clark says of Tony, “He sings with soul and also does spoken word along with the singing. He is not afraid to address issues that are pertinent to what is going on in the world. He will often have a sketch for a song and then, when we are in the studio, he spontaneously fills it in and improvises, sometimes taking the music in a completely different direction.”

Mike Clark is one of the most in-demand drummers on the scene today. Earlier in his career he played with vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, trumpeter Woody Shaw and tenor-saxophonist Joe Henderson. After beginning an association with Herbie Hancock that resulted in him becoming the drummer with the Headhunters, he became well known as a funk drummer although he remains very active in jazz. Among his recent projects have been leading the straight ahead acoustic group Integral Blue which includes Randy Brecker, Donald Harrison and Christian McBride; touring with guitarist Scott Henderson and bassist Jeff Berlin in an electric band performing Wayne Shorter tunes; and recording with keyboardist Michael Wolff’s quartet. In addition he co-leads the Headhunters with Bill Summers. The Headhunters recent CD release is called PLATINUM.

Tony says “The music is in a different and new genre.” Mike Clark is also enthusiastic about the project which is the first time he produced a singer. “We were all really glad to play together and it translates. The music tips its hat towards the days in Oakland when Tower of Power reigned. It has elements of James Brown and some real modern funk. All the music was so swinging and so funky that it was very enjoyable for us and we are very glad to be putting out the music soon.” Tony Adamo’s new CD will be released in a few months and it promises to make a strong impact on the music world.

The CD opens with a song titled “Venomous Love Affair” that has almost an exotic vibe that really moves with David Pesnell incorporating his unique chat-like vocals. “21st Century Woman” is for all the strong, independent women out there while “Puppet of the Beast” is telling the government to back off. “Puppet of the Beast” comes with a hard rock/heavy metal approach that includes that distinct Pesnell vocal delivery once again. Track four, “Losing You”, is an emotionally-sung ballad that is incredibly touching and really tugs at your heart strings. Track seven “Agony And Ecstasy” has a lot of cool mojo going on where you’ll just rock out all night long. “Love Police (Live)” is honestly one of my favorites on the CD because it’s just so damn funky and it also rocks. This live version gives off such an inviting & fun atmosphere where you’ll want to be a part of all the action & excitement yourself. The “Love Police” have arrived and they will arrest you if you are not livin’ it up and having the time of your life. Taking no prisoners along for the ride, it is safe to say that the Cutting Edge ship has landed!

I have to add that Jeff Carolus adds smokin’ hot solos and stellar guitar playing throughout the eight original tracks. I am highly impressed with Jeff’s skills on the guitar; enjoyable all the way through! The singing of She’ Best on “Losing You” & “Every Time I Try (Live)” and Ashley Skye on “21st Century Woman” really stood out to me. A series of three drummers really caught my attention as well: John Platero, Raymond Johnson and William Zimmerman. Zimmerman also plays the role of main songwriter along with the late Liza Pesnell. David Pesnell did an excellent job himself with his one-of-a-kind vocals while also producing the album alongside J. Fassler.

RocketHub And CIRAA Partner To Bring Crowdfunding To Independent Recording Artists In Canada

TORONTO, CANADA, (October 11, 2011) — RocketHub, the community where artists launch, fund, and fly their projects, has unveiled its partnership with The Canadian Independent Recording Artists' Association (CIRAA), Canada's only national non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to Canadian independent recording artists.

"CIRAA and RocketHub are both about helping independent artists find new and creative ways to navigate the current do-it-yourself music industry model," said CIRAA President Gregg Terrence. CIRAA has launched the micro-grant program for Canadian Independent Artists. The CIRAA Groundbreaker Grant is generously supported by XM Satellite Radio, Bandzoogle, as well as now RocketHub.

For the first time EVER I am doing a Review + on one song with six different versions and that’s no joke! I give to you one of the most intriguing, entertaining and ECLECTIC groups I have ever come across—Cutting Edge. Perfect title for the band because the style is insanely Cutting Edge where they are definitely not afraid to cross musical boundaries & genres. Cutting Edge is an American rock band that was formed by David Pesnell, William Zimmerman and the late Liza Pesnell “Leli” back in ’97. On the original, studio version of “Your Love Is My Oxygen” both David and William did the arrangements and played keyboards while Zimmerman also handled percussion. The song was originally written by William Zimmerman and Liza Pesnell and this cut included Ryan Smith on bass and Jeff Carolus on guitars. Right away I’m hearing band chemistry at its finest with the vocals, drums, guitar and keys all working together in sweet harmony. The element of love comes rushing through on this number with a really cool flavor of some R&B added in. You get a pretty distinct sound that is both soulful & emotionally-driven in its approach. With lines like “Till death do us part” and “Lifeline to my heart” reiterated throughout “Your Love Is My Oxygen” all I have to say is eat your heart out!

The ironic twist here is that there are only three tracks, the original and two remixes, but each remix has its own extended club version plus two additional mixes. Wild and crazy stuff I know! The two DJs responsible for creating the different spins on “Your Love Is My Oxygen” are very familiar with the dance music scene. Becoming a super model just wasn’t in the cards for former IMG fashion model Cristen Elmore. The globetrotting beauty lived in Paris, Milan, London, and NY. She was seen in the pages of Vogue, appeared in films, TV commercials, countless editorial ads, and runway shows. However, Cristen landed back home in Pennsylvania when times got tough in modeling, which she chalked up to being much too young to handle the very grown up world of the modeling industry.

Cristen forged through some very lean times. Armed with a fistful of determination, talent, and not much else, she was driven for a second chance at success, but this time in the music business. Her determination and resilience can be traced back to her roots growing up in a military family. She was born in Virginia, but traveled with her family where she was raised in Scotland, before settling in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania as a teen.

A talented singer and lyricist, Cristen turned to ET (Eric Todd), a songwriter, producer, and music biz entrepreneur, who had his own share of false starts with bad record deals and a near miss writing collaboration with the “son of a Beatle”, Julian Lennon, when just in his teens. ET’s family owned restaurants in the Poconos, where he cut his teeth in the business world. Determined as well, he always believed that success was just around the corner. He is an innovator and artistic visionary who’s day has finally come.

The duo became inseparable as a writing team and in less than a year produced their debut full length release, “Blufrost-These Elegant Machines”, available now at itunes and all major digital retailers worldwide, on ET’s label, Etherwax Music. The album features 8 time Grammy nominee master guitarist, Frank DiBussolo. Frank played with Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, and many other legends throughout his career. He is also the guitarist on the legendary recording & Billboard smash “Me & Mrs. Jones”. Cristen and ET met through an acid jazz recording project that the three were developing.

Blufrost’s music is a genre bending fusion of electronica, pop, acid jazz, and ambient trance. We also know what Blufrost’s music is not due to a recent interview with ET where he joked: “We don’t produce the homogenized, pasteurized, & sanitized for your protection, kind of music that you hear on the radio today.” As for the lyrics, they are generally upbeat, quirky, and whimsical as in the single, “Tilt”: “You start the song, I’ll sing along, Let’s tilt this world together, Hey that’s a reason to sing”. A Nashville publisher, Bob Dellaposta was quoted as saying, “Tilt could have been written by the Beatles”. Some high praise from the industry, but fans are reacting to Blufrost as well, from all walks of life and from around the world including Japan, Israel, the EU, the UK, Brazil, Australia, Russia, and even China.

In a sense, “These Elegant Machines” was produced much like a classic progressive rock album of the 70’s, in that it consists of both accessible pop songs and extended musical works. “It’s edgy and yet instantly familiar at the same time”, reported ET. The sound of Blufrost however, is anything but retro. This record sounds like it was produced 20 years in the future.

Blufrost is taking aim at the music world with a laser like precision. This show is truly a blessing to any who seek to serve the Lord as they will surely be renewed and strengthened for the trials and tribulations of this life. It is clearly evident why “Gospel Takeover” has been the most watched Gospel program for the past 2 weeks in its time slot. The Latonas’ video “Protoro” starts off foggy, but then it becomes crystal clear that this group really rocks and is powerful and professional. With a crazy great drummer pounding the beat, the new millennium has arrived in the form of alternative rock and this group is on the cutting edge of it. The guitarist and drummer really deliver a standout performance along with the lead singer. “Protoro” is a fast paced video and shows the group doing a live performance in a high energy show that is second to none along with their message. Watching the video gives you the sense that alternative rock has found its place, and the Latonas are definitely earning their spot in it out in front and right on top. This is what alternative rock in 2011 is all about. You’ll love the song and video if you have enough energy to keep pace with them, but even if you can’t, you’ll have a great time trying!

UK Electronic Rock Act Paris And The Hiltons Releases First Single "A Pervading Of Wisteria"

Phil Jourdan of Paris and the Hiltons announced the release of his new single, "A Pervading of Wisteria" from the LP, "Reading Journals, Part One: Puzzles of Ithaca." "Reading Journals" is being released in three stages, and upon completion will boast 22 tracks. The first installment, "Reading Journals, Part One: Puzzles of Ithaca" features 7 songs that are based loosely on William Faulkner's book Absalom, Absalom.

Jourdan commented, "It's one of our favorite tracks on the album. The lyrics come straight from the novel on which we've based most of the songs, Absalom Absalom. There's a chapter where an old lady talks about her youth and her repressed sexuality, and I thought it would be interesting to find a soundtrack for that chapter. Sam's composition is great, and the novel is great, so the whole thing works well."

The mostly instrumental track begins with a beautiful piano introduction, which is quickly joined by a jazzy percussion rhythm, bass, drums, organ, and the glockenspiel, which provide an interesting backdrop for the use of spoken word along with harmonic singing. "A Pervading Of Wisteria" is a very upbeat mid-tempo song, which is pleasantly original and instantly likeable. Music lovers of any genre will be able to appreciate its uniqueness.

Phil Jourdan formed the electronic-rock solo act Paris and the Hiltons in 2007, and has officially released three albums since that time. "Prettyface Tinybruise," a record of how he dealt with his mother's death in 2009, was released in March 2011. "Fracture and Slice" followed in June 2011, and "Reading Journals, Part One: Puzzles of Ithaca," the third and most recent album, was just released. Jourdan, who began playing the guitar and bass in high school, is also a singer and songwriter. Fellow band member Sam Folkes from the electronic-cabaret rock group Dawn of the Gecko is featured on piano on "Reading Journals, Part One: Puzzles of Ithaca" as well as the two prior albums. Jourdan insists, however, that the two acts are quite different. "Paris and the Hiltons isn't about making funny music. Sometimes it sounds that way, because either the songs have silly lyrics or the music is silly. But it's a much more serious project. Paris and the Hiltons is kind of depressing sometimes. Other times it's moronic. I wouldn't call Dawn of the Gecko moronic — just good fun."

Goldman Rockstar King exudes musical energy with his unique remake of "Sexy Thing," originally performed by Hot Chocolate. Written by Errol Brown, the video "Sexy Thing," which was directed by Paul Gervasi is created with the new sounds and scenes of today. The King's charisma and star power shines brightly as he makes this song his own. Some innovative swap outs with lyrics along with other changes make this a very interesting song and video that are able to stand on their own merits. While there are some similarities to the original, this pop artist's energy and sound along with his presence and presentation make him impossible to ignore. The music is a hard pounding rock R&B mix with a hard hitting bass that holds it all together quite nicely along with the sassy group backing him up. This is a perfect example of how ole school isn't always necessarily better.

Black Rabbit Festival, as the first Chinese Bi-city music festival, was held last weekend in Beijing and Shanghai. Nearly 30 bands and artists joined the festival, including both top international and domestic bands, providing music fans from all over the world with a brilliant music show.

One of the most eye-catching performances was Hanggai, a band from Mongolia. They wore Mongolian costumes, and they used many different instruments, ranging from Mongolian, to electronic guitar, bass, etc. They combined Mongolian music and rock music in a perfect way. Starting with a song dedicated to Genghis Khan, they immediately caught all the attention. The vocalist brought us several songs that are related to grassland in an extremely passionate way, and he also said that it reminded him of his hometown when he saw the grassland, blue sky, clouds, and breeze here in suburban shanghai. The exquisite guitar skills, enthusiastic singing style of the vocalist and guitarist, and the deep and exotic voice of the matouqinist were all very impressive. And as usual, they were drinking beer while giving the show.

Hebe, the beautiful singer from Taiwan, was on stage afterwards. She totally overthrew her usually calm and sweet image by crazily dancing and shaking her orange hair while singing a Beatles song. Different from other indie music artists playing here, Hebe belongs to the league of mainstream pop singers. She also encouraged her fans to pay more attention to Chinese indie music. She gave her fans a great show and sang eleven songs in a row. As a tribute to Hebe, her song called 'Love' was performed in a remixed version by DJ Otakrew on the adjacent NBA STREET JAM stage.

As the sun was setting, American hip-hop singer Ludacris turned the whole field into one large dance floor. Together with his friends, Ludacris performed his most loved songs, such as 'Money Maker', 'My Chick Bad', 'How Low', etc. The mood peaked when he covered Usher's first signature song 'Yeah!'.

The most anticipated band, 30 Seconds to Mars, blasted onto the stage after almost an hour of sounding testing. The vocalist Jared Leto was vigorously welcomed by the audience, and girls even cried seeing him. They started out with several high-intensity rock songs, before treating their fans to some acoustic ones. During their performance, Jared Leto invited a lucky fan onto the stage, creating a memory of a lifetime. As their show came to an end, the Black Rabbit Festival also drew to a close.

Apart from these big stars, numerous other outstanding bands also gave great performances in the festival. The female vocal of Uprooted Sunshine Soundsystems showcased her deep, resonant voice, and their Chinese reggae songs. One of the festival's most iconic events happened when Carsick Cars, a famous Chinese band, was playing their most known song, 'Zhongnanhai'. The song is named after one of the most popular cigarette brands in China, so as they were playing, their fans treated them to a ritual shower of Zhongnanhai cigarettes.

The Norwegian band 120 days celebrated their for now last concert in China, by drinking pure vodka while playing their synthesizers, and bringing the fans old-school funky electronic music. The hip-hop music played at the NBA STREET JAM stage led to a street dancing battle among the audience. It turned out that the hip-hop crowd in China had some unique moves to display. In addition to the great artists, visitors to the Black Rabbit Festival were treated to an amusing showcase basketball match, including street dance, and cheerleaders.

The Black Rabbit Festival successfully gathered music fans from around the globe to enjoy this musical feast on a super cozy autumn day. 'See You Next Time' was displayed on a big banner at the exit, which hopefully presented Split Works' and Taihe Live's confidence in bringing us another fantastic music festival next year.

Violin Sensation Antonio Pontarelli Rocks New York's Lincoln Center With The World Civic Orchestra

One of New York’s most prestigious stages will be the scene for Antonio Pontarelli’s next rock infusion. On Sunday, September 25, the award-winning violinist will be featured by the World Civic Orchestra performing “I’d Love To Change the World” – a piece most famously written and performed by the English blues-rock band Ten Years After and arranged by John Reed for the Hampton (Rock) String Quartet. Under the musical direction of Vincent Koh, the fall concert will be highlighting artists that inspire from around the world. “This really is a landmark performance for me because it’s the first time I will be performing rock music with a full orchestra,” says Pontarelli. “Traditionally, many orchestras are rigid in their adherence to classical repertoire and thus, don’t allow for much improvisation. With those inhibitions swept away, it is incredible to hear an ensemble of 80+ members interweaving rock music in a classical setting.” In 2010, Pontarelli debuted at Carnegie Hall as a soloist on electric violin with the WCO at their inaugural concert. He began playing violin when he was only four, and has continued playing as a soloist with numerous Grammy winners such as Jethro Tull, David Benoit, Serj Tankian (SOAD) and the San Diego Symphony. He has also shared the stage with numerous world-class artists including Jason Mraz, Seal, Earth Wind and Fire and Billy Preston. Pontarelli is a Yamaha Artist and will be playing a prototype that is a sneak preview of a new electric violin to launch next year.

The album is being released in three stages, and upon completion will boast 22 tracks. Commenting on how his latest album is different from the prior two, Jourdan responded, "This album really has scope. It's a twenty-two track work and includes jazz, rock, electronica, weird avant-garde stuff, ballads, jams, IDM beats, and so on. It sounds different from what people would have expected from us, but I think it sounds better, too. And the focus on literature is important as well, because it let us go in a direction that most people don't think of going." He continued, "Basing the album on works of fiction meant I had to reread things, figure out what I wanted to focus on, and discard themes in those books that I knew were important but that didn't particularly move me."

SUBTLETY : AUDACITY presents a “one night only” mixed-media art installation featuring five local artists, one DJ and a magician. Works by David Bianchi, Chris Brown, John Dewey, Aerick Eisenstein, and Ed Schofield will be on display throughout the new JET Studios complex (5126-30 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA 91601) in Los Angeles’ NOHO Arts district. The cross-platform art exhibit will be held on Saturday, September 17 from 7:00 PM – 12:00 AM. The event is free and open to the public!

SUBTLETY : AUDACITY challenges the boundaries of what is to be expected with a traditional "art exhibition" and is intending to create a new space for cultural development. The individuals involved all come from very different educations, backgrounds, and disciplines, but are uniting to bring the community a night to remember.

SUBTLETY : AUDACITY, primarily a painting show, the work on view attempts to bridge and blend gaps between direct and mediated experience. SUBTLETY : AUDACITY will infuse live installations, short films, spoken word, live music, magic, atmospheric electronica, dance and eclectic food and beverage to highlight the curation. While disparate in nature, the event will unite these elements in a fluid and exciting manner. ABOUT THE ARTISTS

David Bianchi
This Brazilian/Italian artist started acting in 3rd grade and began painting and framing work at the age of 6. He was awarded the National League for Innovation Award during his freshman year for his abstract chalk and ebony pencil work. He holds a BFA in Theatre and Film from Arizona State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He has competed Nationally as a slam poet and exhibited his art in multiple gallery shows in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, as well at the Seyhoun Gallery and the Brazilian Consulate Gallery in Beverly Hills. In his quest for long-term success as an artist his hidden talents as an actor warrant Oscar applause. With roles in major films like Elizabethtown, 513, Priest, and great indies like Politics of Love and Filly Brown he has worked along side Orlando Bloom, Tom Sizemore, Danny Trejo, Edward James Olmos, Eric Roberts, Lou Diamond Philipps, Bokeem Woodbine and Karl Urban forcing Hollywood to take him of their waiting list. He is the founder of Exertion films, where art and commercialism find a balance. He has produced two award winning feature films and multiple award winning shorts.

Chris Brown
Chris Brown is new to the art world but has been an art enthusiast his entire life. Chris has a background in film (“K-Pax,” “Never Been Kiss,” “Big Mamma’s House”) and theatre at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and was recently inspired by artist Aerick Eisenstein. He is fortunate enough to be involved in this show of amazing artists and is excited to show his work as he finds his own style. During the day Chris is CEO to Garden Cargo Logistics a multi-million dollar shipping company.

John Dewey
Born in Denver Colorado, John Dewey moved to Claremont California in 2000. After Graduating High School John studied briefly at University of the Pacific but dropped out to pursue art, particularly painting. In 2008, John was admitted to Art Center College of Design. During his time at Art Center John was a co-founder of Mentone Group. John now lives and works in Pasadena California as a painter and multi-media artist.

Aerick Eisenstein
Aerick Eisenstein studied most recently at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California. Although Aerick has traveled much, the culture of Los Angeles is a primary influence in his work. Working near JPL, CalTech, and Hollywood, has brought about an interesting blend of images in Aerick’s art. A great deal of his learning stretches back much farther to the time spent with his friend and mentor Steve Eberhardt. During his early years he would travel the country airbrushing murals which is where he learned the importance of developing a freehand technique. Over the course of the years his work has evolved with influences in oil painting. He captures simplicity within images, ideas, and iconography of pop culture into a universal story. The work is of course partially autobiographical, and opens up a deep dialogue with the history of painting; however there are still strong undercurrents of filmic references. It is an intention to play with how the paintings are received, and that they can hold their own both as painting objects and powerful images that weave an intricate and evolving story with impressions of a montage of film stills.

His work has been in numerous exhibitions across the state, and has been purchased nationally by a diverse range of collectors. For a young artist there is a great deal of promise in his up and coming career and the community of artists he is sharing conversations with.

Ed Schofield
Ed Schofield is a product of disparate worlds funneled through a mentally unstable pair of eyeglasses. Beginning his artistic life under the watchful eye of christian conservatives, he eventually broke out of his cage to study at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California to begin a campaign of chicanery spiked with dry humor. More recently, his work has evolved with an eye towards materiality and more socially minded issues. Having worked as a professional designer for numerous years, his fine art has a polish expected in the design field with a degree of cynicism that would get him fired in just about any other circumstance.

Eliot Wayne’s “Lost In You” is absolutely “music to the ears.” The video shows the 3 member Austin, Texas band performing “Lost In You” and trust me, if you like rock and roll, or if you like great music at all, then this is a video to watch. “Lost In You” was written by Eliot Wayne, who also plays guitar and sings lead vocals. Nick Louis is on bass and Brannen Temple is on drums. The band calls their brand of music “new alternative heavy blues rock,” but whatever you call it, you have to call it good. Well written lyrics with really crisp rock and rock music and good harmonies make “Lost In You” a winner for both the band and the viewer.

We're having a Pitch Fest. Come play on multiple indoor stages performing artist & songwriters stage slots are available. The goal of the event is to pair performing artist with original songwriters who have the types of material the Artist are seeking for their Acts. By mixing the two together we hope to get writers products in the hands of others who are working shows. This is Music Row and it is Music City, USA, so do not be shy!

Mid way thru the Fest on Saturday evening the event host an Indie Music Masquerade Ball. People are encouraged to come as they ARE NOT and hide behind a mask. The dance band comes out, mask and costumes are donned in a continuous buffet and the party is on. There will be a silent auction, raffles, prizes and give-a-ways. The fundraiser will benefit the Independent Music Association. The Tennessee Not For Profit is a working organization that helps music members get things done.

Education has also been an important part of our activities over the past ten years and after two years of preparation we are proud to launch the Independent Music Association. A "Taiwan Phenomenon" At The CMJ Music Marathon: 3 Bands, 3 Sounds

The CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival, New York City's largest and longest running music event, is known for its diverse artists, lively audiences, and in keeping with the Big Apple's own culture, international flavor. This year's 2011 CMJ Showcase will be no exception as three Taiwanese bands make their first appearance, bringing the sounds of Taiwan and their own individual styles to the people of NYC.

Dubbed "The Taiwan Phenomenon," the bands - Bearbabes, Echo, and 1976 - will make their first CMJ appearance from 8-10pm on Wednesday, October 19th at Dominion NY. The showcase is being organized by the Taiwan Government Information Office (GIO) and a-Peer Music Co., Ltd. So what should we expect from our friends from the East? I'm willing to put my money on an absolutely incredible and memorable experience.

Bearbabes is an alternative rock band whose music includes elements of everything from hard rock to Brit rock to jazz, which in itself is interesting enough, but if you consider the fact that their roots actually began in folk music, you can begin to see the scope of this band's talent and range. The band was founded in 2000 by guitarist Chun Wei and vocalist/bassist Jia-Heng Chang. Meng-Chih Lu is the band's drummer, but the group's secret weapon just might be female vocalist Fei-Tsuei Luo, who plays keyboards and also adds a touch of something unique to the band's sound with her cello. And while Bearbabes only has two albums to their credit thus far – "03:53" released in 2006 and "Year After Year" which was released in 2010, they are widely recognized as the leading alternative rock band in underground music circles, and have performed in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Japan. Their music is described as "heart-warming with deeply impactful vocals, powerful drum loops, and soothing and poetic lyrics," which are a staple of Western music.

Echo, also known as the Psychadelic Voice of Taiwan, combines modern poetic lyrics with Neo-Psychedelia rock music to create their unique sound. Band members Pochang Wu (lead vocalist), Yin-Chun Lo (guitars), Wenyen Chiou (bassist), and Chunyu Mu (drums) saw their first big break in 2002 after releasing their debut album, "Sensual Drive," which garnered critical acclaim from media outlets and hugely popular musicians such as Wubai, who is proclaimed to be Taiwan's "King of Rock" Echo's second album, "Bastille Day," boasted twenty four songs conveying the band's thoughts on the pursuit of freedom and the search for the inner soul. "Bastille Day" was released in 2007. In 2008, Echo hosted and performed in more than 100 concerts and tours in Taiwan, including a "movie concert" at the renowned Chin Mei Movie Theatre, effectively securing their spot as one of the top bands in Taiwan. Echo's latest album, "Virgin Air" was released in 2010.

Rounding out the mix of the "Taiwan Phenomenon" is the post-punk, new wave, Brit pop, dance, and rock band 1976, who were students of the '80s UK post-punk and new wave music. Band members Raykai (lead vocalist), Zac (guitar), Warren (drums), and Chouc (bassist) self-released their debut album in 1999, and shortly thereafter joined Crystal Records, which was a top indie label in Taiwan in the 1990s, releasing their sophomore album, "Sense of Direction" in 2000. The self-titled single from that album gained a near cult status. After releasing their third and fourth albums, "Encourage With Love" and "Still The New Wave Flow," 1976 did their first tour in Japan. Not stopping to catch their breath, the band built their own studio in 2007 and released a limited edition EP "In Clubbing We Trust." 2008 and 2009 were pivotal years were 1976 as they partnered with the indie label Rif Music Corp to release their first studio album, "Asteroid 1976" and were the opening band for OASIS' tour in Taiwan. Their second studio album, "Manic Pixie Dream Girl," led to their being crowned the Best Band of 21st Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan.

That's the magic of singer/songwriter duo, AndrewVictoria who have been stacking up the honors for their songwriting since February 2011 when they won "Songwriter of the Month" at SONGWRITER'S UNIVERSE for their original, "It's Not Over". A month or two later, they took out 2nd place in New York's CLASH OF THE ARTISTS songwriting division for 3 more songs.

This was followed in June by a fabulous win in their own hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, when they took home "the DEVA" and a cash prize for their gorgeous song "REPEAT YESTERDAY" in the H24 Songwriting Challenge. That contest was indeed a challenge to all who entered: contestants were given 24 hours to come up with an original song that adhered to 3 strict criteria. But that's not all: it's just been announced that AndrewVictoria were finalists receiving a score of 9/10 once again for the song "It's Not Over" in the worldwide and renowned UK SONGWRITING CONTEST. They also made the semi-finals with 2 others of their originals.

While it's wonderful to have a fantastic voice (and Victoria certainly has that) or to weave magic on a guitar as Andrew does so well, recognition for excellent songwriting raises an artist or in this case, a duo, to another level. These two talented artists have always lit up a stage with their performances and presence, but now they are excelling in what is possibly an even tougher arena: songwriting. They recently shared the stage at a local fundraiser with the well-known fellow Canadian singer/songwriter duo, Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet (now known as WHITEHORSE). John Galea’s video “Faded Popstar” is so cool and creative that it will remind you why they began making music videos in the first place. With the use of animation, pictures, photos, and moving pictures, Galea gets his point across to mediocre musicians very nicely: You might be popular right now, but if you’re not the real thing and your songs always sound like someone else’s, you’ll fade away from musical memory sooner rather than later. Rock Naadam on C1 TV - Boys Climbing Ropes and Moon Tyrant

In July 2011, Shanghai local rock bands Boys Climbing Ropes, The Horde and Moon Tyrant went to Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan, Mongolia to perform for the first Rock Naadam tour. The tour, which brought China-based bands to Mongolia for the first time, followed with dates in Ningbo, Nanjing and Shanghai featuring great Mongolian rock bands A-Sound and The Lemons. That tour was unique in that it not only drew more fans to Mogolian rock music, but also served as an exchange with China's rock scene.

On July 8th, Boys Climbing Ropes and Moon Tyrant performed on "The Big Break" TV show in Mongolia's nationwide channel C1 TV that has become well known for broadcasting music performances. Here are two video clips from the show, in which Moon Tyrant and Boys Climbing Ropes were playing.

Shanghai-based Moon Tyrant was founded on July 4, 2009 after years of planning and air guitar practice. The band is composed of four musicians from Panama, Tasmania, New York and New Jersey, and their music sounds like metal meshed with indie, jazz and straight ol' rock-n-roll.

Boys Climbing Rock is a Shanghai based indie rock band composed of four members - Morg, Dev, Pei and Jordo - that just came coming off a tremendous performance at Midi inaugural Shanghai 2011 festival.

Taiwan's Mavis Fan Follows Her Own Yellow Brick Road

While my recent trip to Taiwan could only be described as a crash-course in the country's music sector, I had had the pleasure to see Fan Xiaoxuan, aka Mavis Fan, perform a year earlier at MIDEM with her band 100%. I immediately became a fan of the "Little Witch of Music" for her ability to straddle pop and rock influences and spot-on vocals into a seamless high-energy sounds.

Mavis has come a long way though and climbed many hurdles to arrive where she is today. Thrust into fame in the mid-90s as a "sweet girl" pop star for the children's market, her records sold over a million copies each, maker her an idol for an entire generation of children. But as happens with so many young pop star, she faced a crisis of following her typecast role or venturing off to follow her own voice. Luckily for us, this Dorothyesque singer chose to chart her own unique (and some times muddy) path down the yellow brick road as you'll see from this video.

So I considered it a special reunion when I met up with Mavis and guitarist Tony Chen (Allen) in Taipei this May to discuss her musical career, how she's grown with her fans over the years and life with her band 100%.

I actually have the pleasure of first hearing you live at MIDEM in Cannes 2 years ago? How was it playing at MIDEM? Was that your first time in France?

[Mavis] This was the first time we went to France, and we were very very excited to have such a great opportunity and also such an amazing way to experience a new culture by playing music there. We were super stoked to be able to bring our music to MIDEM and play for an international audience, however it was a bit nerve racking because I had to speak in English while on stage.

I was a bit concerned there would be distance between us and the audience because of that language barrier. But in the end thankfully, it seemed the audience had a connection to the music, which gave us that much more confidence while playing! We did get lots of positive feedback after the show. When we perform, we feel as long as we give 110% on stage, that energy will be felt by the audience.

What other countries have you toured in?

[Mavis] Aside from France, we spend a lot of time in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan.

How do those fans differ in the way they react to your music?

[Mavis] Because China is such a big place, with many different cities and provinces, it seems each place has a different vibe to it. It's really interesting to see the different reactions from fans from place to place.

Take for example Chengdu - it's a very enthusiastic place. The fans there are very in your face, rocking out with us, taking pics, singing along, definitely not shy to enjoy the show. But on the other hand, take Beijing where the people are really cool, calm and intense. They appear more reserved at shows, but it just takes a while for them to warm up. By then end of the show, they are singing along and enjoying themselves just like anywhere else.

It would be an understatement to say that your music has changed over time. Tell me more about this transformation?

[Mavis] I started studying music from the time I was a kid. Any profession that ever appealed to me was based around music. When I was little, I would see on the back of CDs "Producer" and I thought to myself...hmmm, that sounds like a good job, even though I didn't really know what a producer did. But suddenly, somehow, I ended up on the path of a singer. At the time, I really hoped in the future I would be able to make my own music and create my own style.

When I first started, I was marketed as a young cute singer, the songs I sang and my image were 'cute' and they seemed to just keep getting cuter and cuter. I understood at the time that this was the path that I needed to take. But after a while, I realized that path and the path I wanted were getting further and further away from each other. That was when I decided to follow my heart and do what I loved musically.

Your fans grew up with you since they were young. How have they grown with the transition? Did you get a lot of pushback from them?

[Mavis] I'm really so lucky, because a lot of my fans and I have grown up together, we've also changed together. Of course some of the fans still prefer my old style of music, but others seem to have also gone down the same musical path as I have. It's really important for me to be able to create a relationship between my fans and I. I feel that music can be the common thread that connects us all. So in the end, it's more like we are old friends, not just a singer and her fans, and because of this, I definitely have a bigger responsibility to make my music even better.

What are the influences that shape Mavis Fan?

[Mavis] I honestly don't think I was influenced a lot by outside trends. For me, as soon as I started with the band, suddenly there were all these new possibilities. To have 4 people in a band rather than just my singing totally changes the creative environment. 100%'s style was definitely born from the four of us being together. But also I found that I really needed to change my singing style to fit the band. Obviously, I couldn't sing in my old style, so soft and angel like. It definitely wouldn't fit with the 100% band vibe.

Tell me something about the interaction between you and your band members in creating your sound and stage presence.

[Allen] We've all been really passionate about music for ages. There are a lot of societal and cultural pressures that we all feel, but we are all really lucky to have this band and be able to use our music as a medium to express and release those pressures.

[Mavis] Something that the band has given me is the courage to be on stage. I used to really get super nervous and stressed before any show. I hated doing it. Then before one show, they told me "You just gotta go out and have fun, if you are having fun, the fans will be too!" So, I said to myself, OK, I JUST GOTTA DO IT!! I went out there and didn't worry whether I'd forget a lyric or was a bit off. I just sang my butt off and had a blast on stage, and I think that really translated down to the audience as they also were going nuts along with me! That's when I realized that if I could give the fans that, the ability to go nuts with me and forget any of their stresses or problems for one night, that really is the best thing of all!

How do you use to interact with your fans on the Internet, across greater China? How do your fans keep in touch with you?

[Mavis] There are several sites like facebook, but our own official website is probably the one we use most. It's a more personal experience for the fans as well as myself. We can be in contact and leave messages for each other, just like old friends would.

So it's not Indievox or Weibo that you use a lot to interact with fans, but your own official site?

[Mavis] I tried using Weibo, but found it wasn't really my style. Of course, it's really easy to use, but I prefer posting message from the heart when I feel like it, not feeling like I have to be posting useless info everyday just for the sake of doing it.

Are you working on a new album?

[Mavis] I'd say right now we are all taking some down time. Over the past few years, we have been really busy playing, touring, recording and writing. We definitely need to take some time to re-charge our batteries and think about what our next step will be.

I also want to mention another thing about my website. There are so many fans that leave personal messages on it for us, stuff that maybe they feel they cant' tell their family or friends. These messages really have influenced and inspired me to write music about it on my last record, Innocent. And I really hope by writing songs like these, it can give our fans a positive message and helps them through any tough times they are going through.

Pop/Dancehall Artist Transporta's New Single "I Want To Dance With You" Is The Life Of The Party

Pop/Dancehall artist Transporta has announced the release of “I Want To Dance With You,” which is the first single from his new EP entitled, Transporta: Life Of The Party.” The seven track EP is slated for release on September 5, 2011 on the Rich Entertainment label. The official music video for the single, which dropped onto YouTube one month ago, is receiving accolades from fans in Jamaica, China, Japan, Germany, and Paris.

“I Want To Dance With You” is a pop/dancehall groove that comes out of the starting gate with a burst and never slows down. With a nice hook and beats, the bass, synthesizer and harmonies combine to create an explosive track that club and party goers will enjoy getting their groove on to, working up a sweat in the process. If the quality of “I Want To Dance With You” is in any way indicative of the sweetness of the remaining 6 tracks on Transporta’s new album, Transporta: Life Of The Party, then he surely has a hit on his hands. Fast paced and funky, Transporta has recorded and produced a song that will have you on your feet and in a mood to dance.

The singer/songwriter was born in Kingston, Jamaica and became interested in music as a child watching his uncle perform at live shows. He moved the U.S. in 1995 at age 17 at which time he began dabbling in music and began to take it more seriously, performing with his uncle. After receiving advice from a friend that he should try songwriting, he did so and after performing that song for his advisor, it was clear that music was definitely one of his talents. Transporta joined the rock and roll band Neptune 66 at age 19, but it wasn’t until he met his now musical partner Philippe Trackman that things began to fall into place. In 2008, he won the Battle of the MCs talent show in West Palm Beach, FL. Transporta recorded his first single, “9 to 5,” from his first EP The Solution in 2009. When he and Trackman were informed that the movie Step It Up was being released, they tagged a song called I Want To Dance With You as being on the soundtrack, and uploaded it to YouTube, only to find that the song had been reposted about 20 times, and every reposting had more than 20,000 views. That was his reality check that people really did enjoy his musical style, and he decided to continue making music as a career. Transporta: Life of the Party, which will be released on September 5th, is his second EP.

Transporta’s musical influences are the Jamaican artists Bounty Killa and Vybez Kartel, as well as Michael Jackson, Usher, Biggie Smalls, and the Black Eyed Peas.
